Inclusão digital: Aldeia de São Domingos é contemplada com projeto WebLab Digital Inclusion: São Domingos Village is covered with WebLab project
O NOSI contemplou a Aldeia Infantil SOS de São Domingos, com o laboratório WebLab, que além de promover a inclusão digital dos jovens SOS, irá benecifi ar a comunidade de Ribeirão Chiqueiro no que tange ao desenvolvimento de competências e o combate à exclusão digital. Intervindo no ato da entrega ofi - cial do Weblab, o Secretário de Estado para a Educação, Amadeu Cruz, em represetação do governo neste evento, enalteceu o trabalho desenvolvido pela nossa organização em prol da inclusão social das crianças e jovens em Cabo Verde. “A aldeias SOS tem intervenções de fundo na Assomada, em São Vicente e aqui em São Domingos, mas tem um alcance a nível nacional, apoiando crianças de todas as proveniências e origens. O Governo agradece a organização por este trabalho de grande importância, particularmente ao seu diretor, por ser um parceiro ativo na construção de políticas de desenvolvimento social deste país. O diretor da Aldeia SOS de São Domingos, Alcides Moreira, assegura que a instalação deste laboratório é o realizar de um sonho de criar ferramentas para o futuro profi ssional das crianças acolhidas na Aldeia e da comunidade, através de acesso aos equipamentos e potencialização de conhecimento fruto da conectividade, além de permitir a formação dos nossos jovens como cidadão global. Juceila de Barros, 13 anos, interna da Aldeia de São Domingos que é uma apaixonada pela área das novas tecnologias mostra a sua satisfação em ter um laboratório web, ao pé da sua casa. “Gosto tanto de estar no weblab, que nos dias em que tenho aulas, faço os meus deveres de casa mais rápido possível, para não ter que chegar atrasada. O que mais gosto são os jogos e aprender como se faz-se aplicativos. Já aprendi a parte teórica, e estou muito ansiosa para as aulas práticas. O weblab acabou por dar-me a certeza naquilo que quero ser quando adulta, que é engenheira informática”, diz Jucelia Barros. WebLab é uma iniciativa que pretende contribuir para a diminuição da exclusão digital através da facilitação ao acesso e conhecimento das novas Tecnologias de Informação e Cominicação (TICs), bem como a capacitação dos jovens na construção dessas tecnologias. Destina-se a alunos de 12 a 15 anos, mas também professores, funcionários e a comunidade em geral.

Juceila de Barros, 13, an internal of Village of São Domingos, who is passionate for new tech-nologies shows their satisfaction in having a web laboratory, near her home. “I like so much being in the weblab, that on the days when. I have classes, I do my homework as soon as possible, in order to do not be late. What I like most are the games and learn how to make applications. I ha-ve learned the theoretical part, and I am really looking forward to the practical classes. The web-lab ended up giving me certainty in what I want to be as an adult, who is a computer engineer”, says Jucelia Barros. WebLab is an initiative that aims to contribute to the reduction of the digital exclusion by facilitating access and knowledge of the new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), as well as the training of young people in the construction of these technol-ogies. It is aimed at students aged from 12 to 15, but also teachers, staff and the wider commu-nity may be covered.
Projeto “Viajar com Livros” doa quatro mil livros as Aldeias SOS
As crianças e jovens da Aldeias Infantis SOS Cabo Verde, foram contemplados com a doação de 4.000 livros, no âmbito do projeto “Viajar com Livros”, promovido pela Associação Portuguesa Tempos Brilhantes, em parceria com algumas empresas portuguesa sediadas em Cabo Verde. Essas obras literárias foram destinadas ao apetrechamento das bibliotecas das Aldeias de São Domingos e Assomada, que alem de benefi ciar os nossos internos, contemplaram as crianças e jovens das comunidades vizinhas. A entrega desta importante doação as Aldeias SOS, veio numa hora bastante oportuna. Uma vez que, com a promoção da leitura, entre outras ações, a organização objetiva para este ano letivo, alcançar a meta de 98% de aprovação dos seus internos que frequentam os sistemas de ensino básico e secundário.

Project “Traveling with Books” donates four thousand books to SOS Cabo Verde
Children and young people from SOS Cape Verde Children’s Villages were awarded a donation of 4,000 books, under the “Traveling with Books” project, promoted by the Portuguese Association of Bright Times, in partnership with some companies such as Mota-Engil Cape Verde, Elysium, among others. These literary works will be used to equip the libraries of the villages of São Domingos and Assomada, which, besides benefi ting our interns, will contemplate the children and young people of the neighboring communities. The delivery of this important donation to SOS Villages came at
a very timely time. Since, with the promotion of reading, among other actions, the organization aims for this school year to reach the goal of 98% approval of its inmates attending the primary and secondary education systems. The project “Traveling with Books”, has as its main objective the collection of children’s literature books in Portugal, with a view to the creation and equipping of school libraries in Cape Verde. SOS Cape Verde thanks everyone who was involved in this great project.
Desporto: Jovens SOS destacam-se em competições regionais, nacionais e internacionais
Sports: Youth SOS stand out in regional, national and international competitions Um grupo de jovens SOS foi fi gura de destaque nos campeonatos regionais, nacionais e internacionais nas modalidades de xadrez, andebol e atletismo. O jovem da Aldeia SOS de Assomada, Jercelino Ferreira apurou para o campeonato nacional de atletismo na categoria de 200 metros, após ter fi cado na terceira (3ª) e segunda (2ª) posição, nas categorias de 100 e 200 metros respetivamente, numa competição regional da modalidade. Jercelino que descobriu recentemente a paixão pelo atletismo, já conquistou outros prémios, de entre eles, o 3º lugar numa competição de 100m, organizado pela Câmara Municipal de Santa Catarina, contando com a participação de jovens de diferentes concelhos. Na modalidade de xadrez, os nossos jovens do Centro Social SOS Mindelo, Jason Lopes de 14 anos, sagrou-se campeão nacional na categoria juvenis e Joel Pires 18 anos, vicecampeão na categoria juniores, tendo o Jason participado da equipa que representou Cabo Verde, no Campeonato Africano de Xadrez sub 16, em São Tomé e Príncipe, e fi cado no 4º lugar, em igualdade pontual com o 3º, posteriormente o Joel representou Cabo Verde na 12ª edição dos Jogos Africanos de Xadrez, que decorreu em Marrocos. A participação dos nossos jovens nos campeonatos de xadrez, é fruto de um trabalho que a Federação Cabo-Verdiana de xadrez vem desenvolvendo, através do engajamento pessoal do seu presidente, Francisco Carapinha, que iniciou em 2017 com todas as crianças e jovens do Centro Social SOS. De realçar que nas competições, locais, regionais e nacionais desta modalidade que exige habilidades como a memória, concentração, planeamento e tomadas de decisões, os jovens do Centro Social vêm-se destacando como os melhores. A SOS Cabo verde também esteve orgulhosamente representada pela jovem Ruty Cabral como atleta da Seleção Nacional de Andebol Feminino sub 18, com a conquista da medalha de bronze no “Challenge Trophy” 2019 que teve lugar na Mauritânia. De referir que a nossa jovem medalhista, integra a equipa de andebol SOS Stars, que tem sido um dos representantes do concelho de Santa Catarina em diversos campeonatos, tendo brindado o concelho com o 1º lugar da Região Santiago Norte na época 2013/2014 e 3º lugar a nível Nacional na mesma época. A SOS Cabo Verde congratula-se com a dedicação dos jovens ao desporto, nas suas diversas modalidades e por essas conquistas.
A group of young SOS was a leading fi gure in regional, national and international championships in the modalities of chess, handball and athletics. The young man from SOS Village of Assomada, Jercelino Ferreira, qualifi ed for the national athletics championship in the 200 meters category, after being in the third (3rd) and second (2nd) positions, in the categories of 100 and 200 meters respectively, in a regional competition of the modality.
Jercelino, who recently discovered the passion for athletics, has already won other awards, among them, the 3rd position in a 100m competition, organized by the Municipality of Santa Catarina, in which have the participation of young people from different municipalities. In chess mode, our young people from the SOS Social Center of Mindelo, Jason Lopes, 14 years old, has won the national champion in the youth category and Joel Pires 18 years old, runner-up in the junior category, with Jason being part of the team that represented Cabo Verde, at the African Chess Championship under 16, in São Tomé and Príncipe, and ranked 4th, on equal terms with 3rd, afterwards Joel represented Cabo Verde in the 12th edition of the African Chess Games, which took place in Morocco. The participation of our youth in the chess championships is the result of a work that the Cape Verdean Chess Federation has been developing, through the personal engagement of its president, Francisco Carapinha, which started in 2017 with all the children and young people of the SOS Social Center. It should be noted that in local, regional and national competitions, in this modality that requires skills such as memory, concentration, planning and decision-making, the young people from the Social Center have stood out as the best. SOS Children´s Villages Cabo Verde was also proudly represented by young Ruty Cabral as an athlete of Handball National Team Female sub 18, with winning the bronze medal in the “Challenge Trophy” in 2019 which took place in Mauritania. A Aldeias Infantis SOS Cabo Verde, apresentou a política de proteção nas escolas, no conselho do Ministério da Educação, com o objetivo de dotar o Ministério nomeadamente, as escolas, agrupamentos e delegações, de um sistema que garanta a total proteção das crianças no que concerne a sua defesa, e a proteção dos seus direitos contra possíveis violações e abusos. Segundo dados do Instituto da Criança e do Adolescente (ICCA), só no ano de 2019, a Instituição recebeu aproximadamente 400 casos de denúncias de violência familiar e abuso sexual as crianças. De forma a prevenir e a responder ao abuso e a violência contra as crianças, o Coordenador Nacional da Proteção Infantil da Aldeias Infantis SOS Cabo Verde, Anderson Santos, que apresentou a política de proteção ao conselho do Ministério, defendeu que as estruturas da educação, devem adotar a proteção da criança e do adolescente como prioridade absoluta. A Ministra da Educação, Maritza Rosal, partilha da mesma ideia, defendendo que a pro
teção dos direitos das crianças é fundamental para garantir a qualidade da educação, e que é necessário criar mecanismos para prevenir e reduzir, o número de casos de abuso sexual, negligência e trabalho infantil em Cabo Verde. De referir que o Conselho do Ministério da Educação que contou com todos os dirigentes dos serviços centrais e desconcentrados do Ministério da Educação, teve como objetivo debater as políticas de proteção das crianças, jovens e adolescentes nas escolas, os impactos da implementação do quadro legal, o balanço do ano letivo 2018/2019, bem como a preparação do ano letivo 2019/2020. O próximo ano letivo em Cabo Verde irá decorrer sob o lema “Juntos pela qualidade sem deixar ninguém para trás”, o que signifi ca que “a comunidade educativa, os parceiros institucionais e a sociedade civil devem envolver-se para juntos trabalharmos e aprimorarmos a qualidade do projeto educativo,” disse a Ministra da Educação, Maritza Rosabal, no encerramento do Conselho Alargado do Ministério da Educação.
