WHAT IS A LEARNING LOG? A learning log is a record of your knowledge on a subject or topic. This information can be recorded in any way you want E.G. • Photographs • Models • Games • Paintings/drawings/collage • Information from the internet (Please do not just copy and paste all your information. Try copying it in your own writing or summarising it) • Information from books • Surveys • Poems • Written work • Graphs etc
HOW DO LEARNING LOGS WORK?
1. Your teacher will tell you the name of your next class topic the week before a school holiday i.e. half term, Christmas, Easter etc. You must then start your learning log over the holiday. Learning logs are meant to be FUN and a way of showing the teachers and other children what you already know! 2. In the first week’s Topic lessons you will be asked to share your learning log with the whole class. 3. At the end of the first week back your teacher will give you your learning log to take back home and add more information to it whenever you want throughout the topic (It will be an on-going document) 4. You will be asked to bring your learning log back to school on the last week of your class topic to review, re-share and enjoy. Make sure that you have written your name and the Topic name on the coversheet provided as this is to be put with your evidence. REMEMBER INDEPENDENT LEARNING IS AN EXCITING WAY TO SHOW WHAT YOU ALREADY KNOW AND WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNT/ENJOYED IN YOUR CLASS TOPIC.
