6th February 2026

Dear Parent Carers,

Weekly Update: 06/02/26

I hope this update finds you well. I was glad to see so many of you at the Parent Carer Evenings earlier this week. Working in partnership with our families is one of the things that makes St Martins such a great place to be. Students and staff are starting to feel ready for the half term break, with school finishing on Friday 13th February for a week. I’ve included a couple of different half term activities in this update –workshops with Hubbub, and swimming at the Lonsdale Pool. I hope you find this information helpful as you plan for the week off.

Outward Bounds

At the start of this week, Outward Bounds came into school to lead outdoor learning activities for some of our Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students. This was part of a programme initiated by the Shaw Education Trust. Students from two other SET schools joined in the fun too, with St Andrew’s and Ivy House taking part in activities alongside our students Our Outdoor Learning Mentor, Will, ensured all the young people thoroughly enjoyed these sessions; a huge thank you to Will! Please see the poster further in the update to see what they got up to! Additional images will also be on our social media channels.

Breakfast and Snacks in School

St Martins is fortunate to be part of the National School Breakfast Programme who provide subsidised bagels to the school. Students can choose to have a bagel with jam or butter for breakfast when they come to school in the morning. Alternatively, students can have a piece of fruit for breakfast if a bagel isn’t suitable for them.

Should students require a snack at breaktime, they can bring one from home, please provide them with a healthy option – such as fruit or a cereal bar.

Welcome to Abi

This week we have welcomed Abigail Smith to our St Martins team as a Teaching Assistant at Horizons 6th Form. Abi has experience of supporting young people with SEND through Umbrella. I hope you will join me in welcoming Abi to St Martins.
