WE CAME, WE SAW, WE CONQUERED Travel back to Roman Britain as Year 4 explore why Britain was invaded by the Romans and what influence this had on the future of Britain. We will discover the grim goings on of the greatest empire ever, from the terrible twins who founded Rome to the evil emperors who made murder into a sport. In this history led topic children will learn everything they need to know about the rise of the Roman Empire in Britain, opposition from the Celts, the legacy that was left behind when they went home, and much more. Children will write their own version of the Roman Myth, Romulus and Remus, perform Roman myths, create their own Roman Standard in DT and perform a dance inspired by the Ancient Romans. As part of our topic we will be visiting The Gordon Brown Centre where we will learn to be a Roman soldier and make a Roman Mosaic. Please see the trip letter. We will also be learning about Roman Numerals when Explore Learning visit each class during this half term.
We have an exciting Roman Day planned for the children on Thursday 26th February. Children are invited to come dressed just like a Roman on this day.
Our topic home learning for this half term is based on a range of different tasks linked to life in Ancient Rome and Roman Legacy. Please see you child’s learning log for further details.
We would like to invite you in to school on Thursday 19th March at 2:45pm so the children are able to share their learning with you. As at the end of last term, best books will also be sent home so you can discuss your child’s learning and evaluate the topic outcomes.
