Our6thFormislocatedonthemainCanterburyCollegeCampus,andwe workinpartnershipwiththemtoaccessarangeoftheirfacilities includingtheircaféandrefectoryareas.
Westrivetoprovideawiderangeoflearningopportunitiesforouryoung peoplethatwillpreparethemfortheirfutureaspirations.Werunatime tablethatcoversthecoresubjects(English,Maths,ICT,PSHE,PE)as wellasofferingawiderangeofchoicesthatsuitindividualneedand interests.
Ouraimistoprovideouryoungpeopleandtheirfamilieswithaclear understandingoffuturepathwaysandweworkincollaborationwithawide rangeofprofessionalstoensurethis.

The6thformconsistsof6teachers;CassytheStrategicLeadandForm3Teacher, MarkthePathwayLeadandForm3teacher,SimontheteacherofForm1,Leethe teacherofForm2,MichaeltheteacherofForm4,andGanatheteacherofForm5.
OurgroupsherearestreamedintoEntryLevelgroupstotrytoensurethatweare settingthechallengeforacademicachievementatthecorrectlevel.



WeremainapartofStNicholasschool,andthereforecontinuetoworkalongsidethe therapyteamincludingthePhysios,OT’s,SaLT’sandVIspecialists.Studentsare abletocontinueanytherapeuticprogrammestheyareaccessingsuchasCounselling, playtherapy,arttherapy,musictherapyetc.Wewillcontinuetoworkwithand supportanySocialservices,CAMHS,EdPsych’soranyotherprofessionalsinvolved withyouryoungpersonandarehappytofacilitatemeetingsonsite.

Wehaveidentified3mainpathwaysforouryoungpeoplealthoughare alwayskeenandwillingtoworkwithfamiliesandotherprofessionalsto re-developthesetosuitindividualneedifrequired.

Ourmainofferistoprovidestudentswiththefunctionalskillsthey requiretobeabletoaccessandfunctionwithintheirlocalcommunity.

ForouryoungpeopleworkingatpreEntryLevelandEntryLevel1,we lookatofferingthemwithawiderangeofenjoyableexperienceswithin thelocalareaandaccredittheirskillsthroughtheOCRLifeandLiving skillsProgram.
ForthoseworkingatEntrylevel1and2westrivetodeveloptheir functionaluseofskillswithinEnglish,MathsandICTtoenablethemto continuemakingprogressandmoveontoothereducationalprovisionsto continuepracticinganddevelopingtheseskills.



Wehavedevelopedourcurriculumtoensure thatallstudentscontinuetodevelopand practisetheirskillsinEnglish,Mathsand ICT.
Wealsocontinuallydevelopacomprehensive PSHEandRSEprogramthatsupports studentstodevelopandunderstand relationshipsbothwithinoursettingaswell asoutinthewidercommunity.
Webelievehomemanagementskillsare extremelyimportanttoouryoungpeople, thereforestudentstakepartinweekly sessions.Thiscomprisesofplanning, purchasingandcookingtheirownlunches, andthecleanupthatgoeswithit! Additionally,weendeavourtohelpour studentsbecomeasindependentaspossible withinthecommunity.So,weoffertravel trainingopportunitieswhereweteach studentshowtouselocalbusesandtrains.




Wearecontinuallylookingforrealisticworkbased learningopportunitiesforouryoungpeople,andwe havepartneredwithanumberofestablishments toprovidethis.Theseexperiencesprovide studentswiththeopportunitytodeveloptheir socialskills,findoutareasofinterest,develop functionalskillsinrelationtotimemanagement.

WeworkcloselywithBrogdaleCICwhoprovide ourstudentswitharangeofhorticultural,and craftexperiencesatBrogdaleFarminFaversham, andMuddyWelliesFarminAshford.Theyalso providecateringandhospitalityexperiencesat theircafes,wherestudentsgaintheirfood hygieneaward.
Studentsalsohavetheopportunitytogainwork experienceattheCoffeePodCaféatmainsite, ourschoolshopinWhitstable,alocalanimal sanctuary,andMayasFoodBank.Additionally,we workwithTheFARAcademywhooffera constructioncourse,wherepreviouslystudents havemadeclocks,skateboards,andavarietyof animalhouses.






Ourdayrunsfrom8.45–2.45pm.Studentshaveamorningbreakof20minutes(10.20-10.40 am),theirlunchbreakis11.30-12.15pmwherewegototherefectoryinthemainCollege Campustoeat.Studentsareabletochoosefromawiderangeofoptionswithintherefectory andexperiencesexcellentsocialskillswithinthemaincampusenvironment.
Additionally,if studentsfinishlunch early,wehavealeisure roomavailabletothem. Wehavesensory equipment,iPads,anda varietyofgamespupils canchoosefrom. Studentstypicallyhave fourlessonsperday. However,thiscanvary fromclasstoclass dependingonwhat communitylearningand workexperiencethey havetimetabled.




Thestudentswithinthe6th Formaregroupedaccordingto thelevelofaccreditationthey areworkingat.Form1catersfor thosestudentswhoareworking toachieveEntry2or3,withthe aimofmovingontoavocational courseofferedwithinthemain CollegeCampus.Form2,generally catersforthosestudents workingwithinEntryLeveland developingskillsinEntryLevel2, withtheaimofmovingonto anothersupportedcourse.



Form3,4,&5runparallelinofferingawiderangeofexperiencesforour learnersworkingpre–EntryLevelandworkingtowardsEntryLevel1.These classeshaveahigherstaffratiotoensurethestudentsreceivethelevelof supportrequiredtoparticipateintheactivities.Duringleisuretimesandclubs Forms1–5havegreatsocialopportunitiestomingle.




Wedoaskforatwo-termlydonationof£25.Ahugepartofourcurriculumis basedonencouragingthestudentstobecomemoreindependent,thereforewe accessavarietyofcommunityactivities,regularcookingsessionsandpracticing functionalmoneyhandlingskillswithinthecommunity.Thismoneygoestowards thesecosts,helpsustosubsidisecostsofactivitiesandtripsoutandallows studentstopracticetheirmoneyhandlingskillsduringtripstolocalcafes/shops. Thisisalsohowwefundallofourcookinglessons,sowemayalsoperiodicallyask formoneyforothertripsthroughouttheyear.
Asouryoungpeoplereachtheageof16,KCCrequiresyoutoreapplyfor transport.Wewillendeavourtosupportyouwiththeseapplicationsandwill alertyouoftheavailabilityofformsassoonaswecan.KCCdoesaskfora parentalcontributionforpupilsreceivingpost16transport.Thereisabursary youcanapplyfortooffsetthecostoftheparentalcontribution.Wesendhome thebursaryapplicationsatthestartofeveryyear.

Upto3years,howeverthiswillbe dependentoneachindividualand theirprogress.Somelearnersmay onlystaywithusfor1or2years beforemovingon.
