1. Introduction

Welcome to this first edition of 2026 and a Happy New Year to everyone. As promised in December, there are lots of photos from our walk around Canterbury. I live near there and I must say it makes you appreciate where you live when you take time to walk round your own back garden and take some photos.

We have 1 space left at Biggin Hill – see link below

We have our AGM for 2025 on February 1st via Zoom at 1900. We would love to hear what you all think – see link below

The date and information for the Bluebells in Kings Wood event is now available - see link below

We have not met face to face as a committee for 4 years. We put this right last week with a very constructive meeting in West Malling. As a result of this we are much clearer about our plans.

2. What has happened in the SE region since the last newsletter

The walk around Canterbury was highly successful. Should we do this again next year?

I have publicised the Online LRPS Advisory day in other regions. There are still 5 spaces left. This is a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of the expertise of our adviser, Stewart Wall. Stewart is a past Licentiate Assessor and Chair of Licentiate Assessments. I can tell you from personal experience that he is very good at this job.

3. News in the region

Lessons from last year with respect to events were summarised at our committee meeting:

• We will try to publicise events and have the links available 3 months before the date of an event

• The majority of our events per year will be free to attend, with a couple of paid for events and 1 advisory day

The ruins and sea are very photogenic, especially at high tide and with long exposures. The date and time have been chosen to coincide with the tides. According to GROK, high tide is i840 and the sunset is 1800. It is spring tide also.

6. New members

I am in discussion with the RPS to find a way to welcome new members of the SE to the region. Until then, welcome to you all and let me know if there is anything you would like to do or see. This has not moved at all. I will be asking for clarification, (again)

If you have any ideas or suggestions for the region, please contact me at southeast@rps.org.
