Melbourne Salvos:Project 614
Digital Doorknock a great success again!
When The Salvation Army's well-known Red Shield Appeal was impacted by lockdown again, they had to abandon their traditional doorknocking and intersection collecting and quite abruptly revert to a Digital Doorknock. “Pressroom Philanthropy's support of our Digital Doorknock in 2020 and 2021 has been crucial at a time when we were seeing an unprecedented increase in need. Pressroom was the first to set up a community fundraising page.
“It’s not just the financial donation, which is critical, but it's their ongoing interest, support and input that represents what a genuine partnership we have with Pressroom Philanthropy." said Major Brendan Nottle.
They then proceeded to reach out to their network and encourage donations. It was an incredible show of support at a time when we needed it the most, helping us surpass our goal and raise over $200,000”.
Magpie Nest Cafe celebrates Milestone The Magpie Nest Cafe reopened in July after months of serving take-away only. In mid-July Melbourne's Lord Mayor Sally Capp and Angus McKay 7-Eleven CEO & Managing Director, attended to celebrate the serving of 2 million free coffees. This landmark also celebrated 2 million opportunities to meet someone on their pathway to transformation. It was a massive milestone.
Since then, volunteer team numbers have been increasing, those returning and new volunteers who’ve emerged eager to make a difference to Melbourne's most vulnerable.
