Breathe Easy With A Simple Scan

A low-dose CT scan takes only minutes and helps detect pulmonary nodules —small, firm lumps on the lungs that could indicate cancer.

RISK FACTORS INCLUDE:

• Smoking

• Family history of lung cancer

• Personal history of other lung conditions

• Secondhand smoke

• Exposure to carcinogens

You must call in the month of November to schedule and pay for your low-dose CT screening. Physician referrals are not required, but for follow-up purposes, please be prepared to provide contact information for your primary care physician. Patients typically only get this scan if they qualify through their insurance, but by way of this special November opportunity, anyone can have the scan performed.

Cost: $150 (self-pay)

Schedule: November 1-30

This examination is not to be considered a substitute for a clinical examination by a physician. A low-dose CT scan is intended only to be a screening test for lung cancer, and the results of this examination should be taken into careful consideration by the patient’s own physician in the context of other factors such as relevant history, physical examination and other indicated or related investigations. Williamson Health is not responsible for any adverse consequences from not sharing the scan results with your doctor. As a self-pay opportunity, this screening will NOT be submitted to insurance.

A Season Of Gratitude

November is a season that always calls us back to gratitude. It’s a time to gather around the table, reflect on the people who shape our lives, and celebrate the community we call home. That spirit of thankfulness makes this month especially meaningful as I share my very first issue as Publisher of Thompson’s Station City Lifestyle. My family and I are proud to live in Thompson’s Station, and I am grateful for the opportunity to highlight the people and places that make our community shine. In this issue, you’ll meet neighbors whose stories remind us of the heart and generosity found right here.

We sit down with Tanya Prifitera, the passionate owner of Frankie’s Pizza & Grill, to hear the story behind a local favorite. We share the journey of Noble Springs Dairy, a family-owned business built on connection and community. You’ll be inspired by the incredible work of Change The Stars and its founder, Jeff Ponchillia, and learn more about trusted orthodontist Dr. Wes, who continues to impact families across our area. And as Thanksgiving approaches, we’ve included beautiful tablescape ideas to spark creativity and bring warmth to your holiday gatherings.

This issue is all about gratitude—for good food, meaningful work, family traditions, and the neighbors who make Thompson’s Station, Spring Hill, and the surrounding Nashville communities such special places to call home. Thank you for welcoming me into your homes through these pages. I look forward to celebrating more of the stories that connect us, inspire us, and remind us of all there is to be grateful for.

With Gratitude,

H O P E

Begins with YOU A SEASON TO SEE THE UNSEEN

The holidays have a way of calling us back to what matters most—faith, family, compassion, and the quiet but powerful act of giving. As lights go up and calendars fill, there are still many who sit in silence, carrying burdens too heavy to bear alone. But what if this season, you could be the spark that changes everything for someone else?

The founders of City Lifestyle, through their private foundation, are once again launching its annual Christmas Giving Campaign—a heartfelt effort to seek out and support individuals and families who have quietly fallen through the cracks. The mission is simple: to bring light, dignity, and hope to those who need it most.

Since its beginning just four years ago, this initiative has grown from a humble idea into a life-changing movement. Last Christmas alone, more than 200 families across the country received unexpected support—financial relief, but also something even more powerful.

“We don’t just send checks,” says Steven Schowengerdt, CEO and founder of City Lifestyle. “We send a message: You are seen. You are loved. And you are not forgotten.”

Together with City Lifestyle President Matthew Perry, Steven has helped shape this into a tradition that goes far beyond charity. “This is about community,” Matthew adds. “We believe we’ve been blessed, so now we get to be a blessing.”

Every story begins with a nomination. Often, it’s a neighbor, coworker, friend, or teacher—someone who’s been quietly carrying too much for too long. One past recipient, after receiving unexpected support during a time of deep personal struggle, wrote:

SCAN TO NOMINATE

“We send a message: You are seen. You are loved. And you are not forgotten.”

“Beyond the very practical solution of receiving funds to fix my car, this thing you guys worked together to do is bigger than that. I carry the Christmas card you sent in my purse. When things get really hard, I pull it out and remember what it felt like to be seen. That card represents hope— that change for the better is possible. I’m not sure how many people get to carry hope around in their purse. But I do.”

Another wrote in after her husband was diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer and unable to work:

“This support has blessed our family not only financially, but emotionally and spiritually as we trust God to meet our needs throughout this difficult time. Thank you to our anonymous friend and to your foundation. What a joy and gift to be part of God’s family!”

Each year brings countless stories like these—real lives touched by simple acts of kindness. Some use the funds to pay overdue bills, others to afford groceries, medication, or repairs. But no matter the circumstance, the impact is the same: hope is restored.

This season, you have the opportunity to be part of that. The campaign is now open to nominations—completely confidential and prayerfully considered. Whether it’s someone battling illness, facing unemployment, or just in need of a helping hand, you can bring them a moment of grace that will ripple far beyond Christmas morning.

“Knowing my mom was chosen filled my heart with indescribable joy,” said another past recipient. “Your generosity doesn’t just brighten her life; it inspires hope and faith in all of us. It enables her to stay in her home and get back on her feet.”

Nominations are open from November 1st to December 5th, 2025. To submit someone you know, simply scan the QR code or visit @CityLifestyle on Instagram, where you’ll find the nomination form in the bio.

This holiday season, let’s give more than gifts. Let’s give each other the gift of being seen. Because sometimes, the smallest gesture becomes someone’s greatest miracle.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY CHANGE THE STARS, JOHN FLETCHER

JEFF PONCHILLIA, FOUNDER OF CHANGE THE STARS, SPEAKS ON THEIR MISSION AND INSPIRATION BEHIND THE NONPROFIT DESIGNED TO CHANGE LIVES

CHANGE THE STARS

Photography by John Fletcher

Thompson’s Station resident Jeff Ponchillia is the founder of Change The Stars, a nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children in Haiti who are trapped in the grip of poverty. With a holistic approach, their organization aims to bring positive change by establishing an orphanage, implementing a scholarship program, supporting local schools, and aiding the children's hospital.

The Nashville native’s first trip to Haiti in 2012 changed his life forever — leaving Haiti, his heart was heavy but his

“...MY

orphanage, instantly, my life changed direction on the spot.”

Ponchillia was made aware of how bad of shape the children’s orphanage was in. Underfunded and struggling, he visited and immediately fell in love with the children, prompting his steady work with them. Upon returning home, the father of four created Change the Stars. Working to spread awareness and provoke change in the community, the nonprofit provides financial assistance to over 2,500 children in 10 primary schools mainly in Petite Riviera

LIFE CHANGED DIRECTION ON THE SPOT.”

mission was clear: something had to be done. Before visiting, Ponchillia spent years working in education at a charter school for at-risk students. When the school closed down, he took it as his sign to visit Haiti, as his family was already involved with the hospital there. Spending six weeks abroad getting to know the children and lending a hand, Haiti continued to weigh on his heart long after he landed back in Nashville.

“We spent a lot of time out in the community while I was there… there were schools with sticks holding up sheet metal to keep the weather off the kids and most of the schools hadn't had books of any kind for five plus years,” Ponchillia explains. “When I saw the needs with the schools and the

de Nippes to help with textbooks and supplies along with infrastructure repairs due to reoccurring earthquakes and maintenance upkeep. In addition, their Children’s Hospital Program has changed the lives of many. About forty percent of Haiti's population lacks access to essential health and nutrition services. Located in Port au Prince, The Sisters of Charity Children’s Hospital serves between 80 and 200 children with just two nuns volunteering their time to help ill and malnourished children. Change The Stars continues to provide Pedialyte, formula, medication, and a small salary to a full-time pediatrician to assist the nuns with the influx of children needing medical attention daily.

“I've seen the needs of these amazing people that deal with the worst conditions, and they still smile and have hope,” Ponchillia shares. “Just seeing that instantly puts perspective back on the things that we think are issues, but are still minute compared to what goes on in many places around the world.”

The hope the children possess as they begin to see change before their eyes is evident; Many of the students Ponchillia has supported hope to pursue careers in nursing, education, and medicine once they are finished with school — all careers designed to help others. Their desire to heal, educate, and care for their peers is inspiring to Ponchillia, and being a part of their hope and excitement for opportunity is something he never takes for granted. This year, Change The Stars’ Scholarship Program has helped sixty-four students receive an education on scholarships at universities around Haiti — many of which were once in the orphanage with no access to further their education.

“At Change The Stars, one-hundred percent of what anybody gives goes to

Haiti,” Ponchillia explains. “People get to see the children and the stories of what their money is actually doing, which I think is super impactful… especially knowing every dollar that's given goes to where it's supposed to go.”

Visiting Haiti several times a year, Jeff is beyond thankful to the community for their generosity and willingness to help. Whether it be a donation or providing resources for him to bring along on a trip, there is no deed too small.

“A few years ago, I was going [to Haiti] and posted something on social media that the Children's Hospital needed formula, Pedialyte, and things for the orphanage,” Jeff explains. “Within a couple days, we had an Amazon wishlist… every day my front steps were full of packages. Seeing the people — literally the Thompson’s Station community — rally around what we're doing in Haiti has blown me away.”

Welcome To Noble Springs Dairy

A Look Inside Franklin's Beloved Family-Owned and Operated Farm

Noble Springs Dairy is a family-owned, Grade A Goat Dairy and Artisanal Goat Cheese making operation. Run by Dustin and Justyne Noble, the farm is located only six miles from downtown Franklin, sitting on over two-hundred acres of land. Growing up in Williamson County, Dustin’s Tennessee roots run deep. He met his wife, Justyne, in a very full-circle way — through their love for goats! In 2003, the pair both attended the American Dairy Goat Association show in Des Moines, Iowa. A few years later, Justyne left her small town in Kansas for Tennessee.

"We both grew up around farm animals and got our first goats as children," Justyne shares. "As our passion for [them] grew, we each began traveling nationwide to show our goats — which is how we first crossed paths. We both love the [them] and since we shared the same hobby, we [dreamt] of a way to turn our hobby into a business. When we moved to the farm, we always intended for it to be a place people could come to learn about agriculture, enjoy the outdoors, and get a chance to see — firsthand — how awesome goats are."

Raising over one-hundred-fifty goats, every drop of milk that’s produced on their farm is derived from the natural forages that their goats enjoy on the farm. Their cheeses have distinct flavor, due to the unlimited pasture grazing and special care our animals receive.

Offering an array of cheeses fresh from their farm, their products are currently available at numerous retail locations and restaurants in the Greater Nashville Area.

Each and every animal on their farm has a name, a personality, and a place in their family. At Noble Springs Dairy, their goats browse along their rolling pastures at their leisure. Dustin and Justyne have over forty combined years of experience in providing exceptional care to dairy goats and strongly believe quality milk comes from healthy, happy animals. The happiness and well-being of their goats remain their number one priority. Offering farm tours, visitation with their baby goats, private events, and more, Noble Springs Dairy has become more than just a farm, but a beloved part of the community.

"One of our favorite traditions is opening our doors to visitors on the Friday and Saturday following Thanksgiving," Justyne shares. "It’s fun to see groups that want to show their guests our farm because it’s special to them, too."

How To Decorate Tables With Noteworthy November Flair

Whether traditional or modern, formal or fussfree, Thanksgiving centerpieces set a memorable ambiance for November gatherings.

Make an edible bread cornucopia, ‘horn of plenty,’ for the Thanksgiving table using refrigerated bread or pizza dough, a plastic bottle mold and aluminum foil. Wrap the bottle with foil, make a tail at one end and then layer adjoining strips of dough on the foil. Brush cornucopia with melted butter, remove the plastic bottle and bake at 350 F for 25 to 30 minutes on the lower rack, or until it turns a golden, shiny brown. Fill with sweet or savory nibbles, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, gourds, nuts, rosemary breadstick twists or even cookies, for an impressive centerpiece that’ll keep guests happily munching while they wait for the main meal to begin.

florals can be gourd- geous

Or, get inspired from the following ideas and have fun creating a centerpiece completely customized.

• Slice and fill real squashes with floral foam to hold classic fall flowers, such as mums, pom-pom daisies and dahlias.

• For a pop of color on Thanksgiving tables, a large turquoise or pink pumpkin goes a long way.

• For a cranberry-filled vase, place a smaller glass cylinder inside a larger one, then pour fresh cranberries into the gap between the two vases. For flowers, mix a few grocery-store blooms with dried millet and faux dill blooms, or silk and dried flowers.

Tanya Prifitera, Owner of Frankie's Pizza & Grill, Shares The Story Behind The Local Favorite.

Slice of

Community

Tanya Prifitera is well-versed in the restaurant industry; long before opening Frankie’s Pizza & Grill in Spring Hill thirteen years ago, the Connecticut native was immersed in the business by working at her parents’ pizza shop, Naples. Located in New Haven on Yale University’s campus, the joint had seen some of Hollywood's biggest stars—some of whom even took part in carving their names into the wooden tables. The Naples Pizza Corporation was established by her family over forty years ago, and was best known for their famous New

Haven-style pizza—thin-crust and coal-fired with a Neapolitan twist. In the late nineties, her family relocated from Connecticut to the hill country of Texas, where Tanya helped grow her family’s legacy by operating the eatery on her own. After managing the restaurant and residing in The Lonestar State for twelve years, Tanya and her husband, Dinho, decided to take the leap and establish roots in Spring Hill. Tennessee has always been a favorite place for her family to visit, so they couldn't wait to bring the Naples concept along on their new journey!

“I had been visiting Tennessee from Connecticut since high school… I just loved the area — and I have horses —  so [Spring Hill] was perfect for me,” Tanya shares on her decision to move. “We decided to go for it… we got the lease on the restaurant, moved all my animals and restaurant equipment up here, and opened the restaurant two weeks later.”

In August of 2013, Prifitera established a division of her family’s corporation in their new concept, Frankie’s Pizza & Grill — marking the start of her own chapter. With the dream to start something of her own, she honored and expanded what her family had built by creating Frankie’s, a restaurant featuring traditional Italian dishes, hand tossed and thin crust pizza, fresh grilled entrees and burgers, popular salads, and unique appetizers. Named after both her father and late brother, Frankie’s values quality over quantity, ensuring each bite is as fresh as it is delicious.

“A lot of the recipes are family recipes from my dad,” Tanya shares. “He's from Sicily and so is my grandmother. They started with their family recipes, and I've incorporated some of those into Frankie’s as well, but I've also expanded on them. We absolutely have a focus on fresh and all natural and hormone, antibiotic-free products. When I buy, I am so conscious of where things are coming from and what's in them.”

With an array of offerings on their menu, Frankie’s Pizza & Grill has become a go-to spot in town — not just for great food, but for the sense of community it creates. In addition to their regular menu, Frankie’s offers daily specials curated to the season — such as lobster tails, filet mignon, risotto, and beyond. From wine dinners to food drives, local fundraisers, and events, Tanya wanted to build a place that felt like home while still curating a menu that is ever-changing for foodies. Offering options that saves you a trip into Nashville, along with live music and craft cocktails, Frankie’s brings small-town comfort with a twist of variety that keeps people coming back.

“I'd like to modernize the trends that are in the food industry,” she shares. “You see different things — mostly in big cities like Nashville — that people are doing, but we want to be able to also feature that down here in Spring Hill. I love to source fresh food and see what's going on locally and create new dishes that maybe people haven't seen. I have a chef from Rome and he goes back to Italy twice a year and brings us new ideas.”

When it comes to catering, the team at Frankie’s works intentionally with each customer to customize menus for their event — whether it’s a graduation, wedding, party, corporate gathering, or anything in

between. In addition, it is important to Tanya to not only serve her customers, but to get to know them. Spending most of her time connecting with guests, brainstorming with staff, and constantly dreaming up ways to evolve, Tanya and Dinho have poured their hearts and souls into creating a space for the community to unwind and enjoy.

“I'm most thankful for the community support,” Tanya shares, reflecting on her journey thus far. “They have been absolutely amazing and a lot of them have been with us since day one. They have been behind us and so supportive of the restaurant and what we've been trying to do for years… without them, we wouldn’t be here today.”

From family favorites to elevated tastes, Frankie’s serves up a weekly menu that has something for everyone. For more information on Frankie’s Pizza & Grill, visit www.frankiespizzaandgrill.com or visit their socials @frankiespizzaandgrill.

All Smiles This Season

A Festive Q+A With Orthodontist, Dr. Wes

THE HOLIDAY SEASON IS ALL ABOUT SHARING SMILES WITH THE ONES YOU LOVE — WHAT ROLE DO YOU BELIEVE A HEALTHY, CONFIDENT SMILE CAN PLAY IN GATHERINGS?

We smile more when we are confident... they are contagious and it makes people feel good to be welcomed with a smile.

WHAT IS ONE THING ABOUT YOUR WORK THAT MAKES YOU FEEL MOST PROUD AND THANKFUL AT THE END OF THE YEAR?

We are so thankful for the families who trust us every day to take great care of their smiles. We are proud to have the opportunity to serve this great community we live in.

HOLIDAY TREATS CAN BE TRICKY WITH BRACES! WHAT ARE SOME SAFE (AND STILL TASTY) HOLIDAY FOODS YOU’D RECOMMEND?

I personally love candy, especially around the holidays, but hard and sticky foods should be avoided with braces. Choose soft treats like cookies, pie, and chocolate.

WHAT’S A THANKSGIVING TRADITION IN YOUR OWN FAMILY THAT ALWAYS MAKES YOU SMILE?

I’m just grateful to have time together with my family. This year, I’ll be happy to have all of my kids home with two in college.

IN WHAT WAYS DO YOU SEE GRATITUDE PLAY OUT IN YOUR OFFICE?

We see gratitude play out every day in big and small ways - it is more than just a visit to the orthodontist. Patients share ups and downs in life with us... we get to know them and we all help each other out.
