Happy Holidays!

The holiday season has a way of wrapping everything — streets, homes, hearts — in a little extra light. It’s a great time to slow down, gather close, and reflect on what matters.

Like many of you, we’ve come to cherish the holiday traditions that feel both timeless and uniquely our own. One of our favorites? Slowing down long enough to decorate the tree together, unboxing ornaments and chatting about memories made over the years. It’s a simple ritual, but one that grounds us in gratitude, laughter, and love.

This issue is filled with that same spirit — from the glow of Santa’s Electric Light Parade and the Christmas Tree Lighting at the Duck Pond , to thoughtful gift ideas that support local businesses, and stories that remind us what it means to give, gather, and grow as a community.

We know the holidays can stir up all kinds of emotions — joy, nostalgia, even grief. So whether you’re celebrating big or keeping things quiet this year, we hope you feel surrounded by care, connection, and the magic of belonging.

From our hearts to yours —

Way Out West Festival

Western Music, Local Wine, and the Spirit of Temecula at Way Out West Fest

There was a fresh energy in the air this fall as the Way Out West Fest unfolded across the scenic grounds of Old Town Ranch. Generously hosted and warmly supported by the team at the Ranch, the venue set the stage for a weekend of western music, cowboy charm, and wine country hospitality. With thoughtful updates, expanded space, and a strong sense of community, this year’s event delivered both meaning and style — a celebration of heritage that left guests inspired, grateful, and already counting down to next year.

Guests browsed artisan vendors, sipped local wine, and gathered under the open sky to dance, laugh, and reconnect.

At the heart of the weekend was Charity for Charity, a Temeculabased nonprofit dedicated to fulfilling wishes for individuals facing life-threatening illness or traumatic hardship. Proceeds from the event supported their mission, meaning that with each ticket sold, the community gave back — turning an already unforgettable weekend into something even more lasting.

There’s a reason the Way Out West Fest continues to resonate, year after year. It captures something essential about Temecula: a blend of heritage, hospitality, and heartfelt giving.

In a time when so much asks for our attention, the Way Out West Fest offered a moment to slow down, look around, and remember what matters most: good music, good neighbors, and a shared sense of place.

For evening and stage photos, future event announcements, or to support Charity for Charity year-round, visit wayoutwestfesttemecula.org.

Every ticket sold helped fulfill real wishes, thanks to Charity for Charity , a Temecula nonprofit supporting individuals in critical need.

Temecula’s Electric Light Parade

Shines with Holiday Spirit

As winter quietly settles into the Temecula Valley, the air takes on a gentle crispness and the scent of pine and cinnamon begins to drift from front porches and cozy kitchens.

Holiday lights begin to twinkle from rooftops, shop windows, and tree-lined streets, slowly stitching the city together in strands of warmth and wonder.

Inside homes across Temecula, seasonal boxes are pulled from garages and attics. Ornaments are unwrapped, wreaths are fluffed, and favorite decorations are placed in the same familiar spots — traditions that mark not just the season, but the rhythm of time itself. Calendars are circled in red, not just for Christmas morning, but for the moment when the city gathers as one: the beloved Santa’s Electric Light Parade, hosted by the City of Temecula’s Community Services Department, taking place this year on Friday, December 5 at 7:00 pm.

This cherished community celebration has become a seasonal milestone, one that generations look forward to year after year. Families arrive early, staking out their favorite viewing spots along Jefferson Avenue, bundled in scarves and blankets, with thermoses of hot cocoa in hand. Children buzz with excitement, waving glow sticks and handmade signs, while parents and grandparents settle in, ready to make another memory.

When the sun sinks behind the hills and the first notes of holiday music rise into the air, something familiar becomes something extraordinary. Old Town Temecula is transformed into a glowing corridor of color and sound. The parade brings together dozens of local organizations — schools, small businesses, nonprofits, and performers — all united in the spirit of celebration.

The heart of the parade is, of course, Santa Claus himself — arriving in brilliant fashion and greeted by gasps, cheers, and the joyful ring of sleigh bells.

For a few magical moments, children believe, grown-ups smile, and the spirit of the season feels unmistakably close — bright, joyful, and entirely real. This year, Temecula City Lifestyle is thrilled to be part of the parad e — and we can’t wait to see you there!

TEMECULA’S ANNUAL CHRISTMAS Tree Lighting

THE SPARK THAT STARTS THE SEASON

At the center of it all stands the tree. Towering and graceful, wrapped in thousands of carefully placed lights, it rises beside the Temecula Duck Pond each December — a radiant symbol of the season and a beacon for the community that gathers around it.

Its presence is both simple and grand. During the day, it blends into the surrounding beauty of the park — the quiet water, the gentle slope of green, the Veterans Memorial standing with quiet pride nearby.

The atmosphere is festive but unhurried — a reminder that meaning doesn’t always arrive with grandeur; sometimes, it’s found in the quiet glow of a single tree and the people who gather around it.

In an instant, the tree comes alive — thousands of lights shimmering against the dark sky, their glow reflecting across the water and dancing in the eyes of those gathered.

The tree lighting ceremony returns on Monday December 1st, 2025 at 7:00 pm. To explore more holiday moments like this one, visit temeculaca.gov

“And then, the countdown begins. A flip of a switch, a collective cheer — and suddenly, the tree comes alive.”

Holiday Hosting on a Budget:

PHOTOGRAPHY BY STEPHANIE DAY @OGRAPHR
TIPS FROM BRANDI MILLOY
“Hosting isn’t about perfection — it’s about creating space for connection and memories people will cherish.”

TV host, food & lifestyle expert Brandi Milloy shares how to create festive, memorable holiday meals without breaking the bank. From crowd-pleasing recipes to budget-friendly shopping tips, Brandi shares her favorite ways to make the season bright, delicious, and affordable.

CREATE A BUDGET AND KEEP IT SIMPLE

Knowing how much you want to spend and sticking to it is crucial to keeping your meal affordable. Once you set your budget, keep your menu simple. Plan your menu around core crowd pleasers–a few well-loved dishes will go further than a dozen overwhelming ones. A main, a few sides, a salad and an appetizer or dessert is all you need. If guests are joining you and offer to bring something, you can suggest they bring a beverage of their choice or the dessert.

SHOP YOUR HOME BEFORE HEADING TO THE STORE

Before I grocery shop I do a quick inventory in my pantry, fridge and freezer. This can help you avoid buying duplicates and can even inspire your meal based on what you already have. Once I’m ready to shop, I always look for savings with Smart & Final’s store brands, choosing Sun Harvest for natural and organic products and First Street for affordable, everyday staples.

BUYING IN BULK

One of the things I love about Smart & Final is their wide range of club-sized products (without the membership)! They make buying in bulk throughout the year so easy, and this can significantly reduce the cost of holiday meals and hosting. I’m a huge fan of shopping a few weeks early and freezing what I can–especially when butter is on sale! I love that I

can grab everything in one trip, from everyday groceries and pantry staples to bulk ingredients and holiday extras.

SEASONAL INGREDIENTS = SAVINGS

In-season produce is always the way to go! Even as a side, sauteed mushrooms with fresh thyme and butter are sensational. My Holiday Pomegranate Salad served with kale, mixed greens, sweet potato, beets, pomegranate and the soft cheese of your choice is one of my favorite ways to showcase what’s in season. For an appetizer I love to make my Crudité Wreath with an irresistible triple cheese dip. Guests will always choose the healthier options if you have them available and there is nothing more beautiful than colorful vegetables!

BREAK TRADITION WITH THE PROTEINS

There are no rules when you’re hosting! If you’re not even a fan of turkey, roast a chicken with seasonal herbs and citrus! It will look beautiful and taste great. If no one ever eats all the turkey in your family, swap it out with a roasted stuffed turkey breast. Instead of splurging on a giant prime rib, toss a roast in the slower cooker.

CELEBRATE WHAT MATTERS

Remember, you are the heart of the home. The holidays should be about creating warmth and connection. When your food is made with love your table will feel rich with intention, gratitude and joy. And if everyone leaves full, happy and a little more connected –that’s a perfect holiday in my book!

COLORFUL, CROWD-PLEASING RECIPES

Looking for something fresh to bring to the table? Here are Brandi’s seasonal favorites, perfect for holiday entertaining:

Brandi's advice for hosts, "Shop 1–2 days before your event so you can prep and store ingredients ahead of time—Smart & Final makes it easy to grab everything in one stop."

I draw so much inspiration from nature and the ingredients I’m using — even a sprig of rosemary can feel special. “ ”
The new Temecula Smart & Final offers holiday essentials, fresh flowers, spirits, and more — effortlessly.

HOLIDAY POMEGRANATE SALAD

Ingredients

• 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1” cubes

• Sun Harvest Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)

• 1- 5oz. Sun Harvest Organic Baby Kale Spring Mix

• 2 small pre-cooked beets, sliced

• Aerials from 1 pomegranate

• ¼ cup pistachios, chopped

• 1/4 cup Blue Cheese, plus more for topping

Directions

Toss potatoes in EVOO and roast on a baking sheet at 425F for 30 minutes, flipping halfway or until tender and crispy. To assemble salad, add greens into a large bowl. Top with beets, pomegranate aerials, nuts and cheese. Serve dressing on the side.

HONEY MUSTARD DRESSING

Ingredients

• 2 tbsp. First Street Honey Mustard

• 1 tbsp. Sun Harvest Organic Honey

• 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice

• ½ tsp. Salt

• Fresh ground pepper

• ¼ cup Sun Harvest Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Directions

Into a mason jar, add ingredients and shake to mix. Keep dressing in the refrigerator up to 1 week.

CRUDITÉ WREATH WITH TRIPLE CHEESE DIP

Use seasonal veggies like broccolini, sugar snap peas, radishes, and bell peppers to create a vibrant wreath display, garnished with fresh herbs and paired with a whipped triple-cheese dip. Bonus: The dip can be served warm or cold depending on your vibe.

Ingredients

• Broccolini, trimmed

• Sugar Snap Peas

• Persian Cucumbers, sliced into spears

• Radishes, sliced in half

• Cherry Tomatoes

• Red Bell Pepper, sliced

• Yellow Bell Pepper, sliced

• Mushrooms, sliced in half

• Sun Harvest Organic Living Rosemary and Thyme, for garnish

Directions

Wash and dry vegetables and slice according to each.

Layer ingredients in the shape of a wreath alternating vegetables evenly. For visual interest, separate sugar snap peas. Decorate with ribbon.

TRIPLE CHEESE VEGGIE DIP

Ingredients

• 8oz package First Street Original Cream Cheese, softened

• 1/2 cup sour cream

• 1 5.2-oz wheel Boursin cheese, any flavor

• 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated

• ½ tsp. Garlic powder

• ½ tsp. Onion powder

• ½ tsp. Salt

• ½ tsp. Pepper

• 1-2 tbsp. Milk

Directions

Into a bowl, add cream cheese, sour cream and Boursin cheese and mix until smooth using a hand mixer. Add parmesan cheese and spices until combined. Add 1-2tbsp of milk until desired consistency. Keep in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Serve with vegetables or crackers.

ASCENIC ESCAPE :

There are a lot of things to love about Temecula—the food, the wine, the sense that time moves just a little slower here—but one of the very best things is how easy it is to escape. You don’t have to plan it. You don’t have to go far. Just pick a direction, start the engine, and let the roads do the rest.

That’s exactly what I did recently, climbing into the new 2026 Hyundai Palisade for a quick reset drive through some of Temecula’s most scenic routes. The Palisade feels more like a rolling lounge than a family SUV—quiet, confident, and surprisingly elegant. You notice it before you even pull out of the driveway. The leather interior stretches across almost every surface, the ambient lighting glows softly, and the oversized display greets you with an easy calm. Tap the start button, and the hybrid engine hums to life so quietly you’ll check twice to make sure it’s actually on.

A Temecula escape in the new 2026 Hyundai Palisade proves that sometimes the best destination is the drive itself.

The first stop on any good Temecula escape is De Luz. It’s one of those hidden corners that still feels wild—narrow, curving roads shaded by oaks and lined with avocado groves. The Palisade handled those tight turns like it was built for them. The steering is light but precise, and the ride stays remarkably smooth no matter how uneven the pavement gets. Even when the gas engine kicks in, it’s nearly silent, which makes the drive feel unhurried. The head-up display keeps your speed floating in your sightline, and the blind-spot cameras that appear in the digital gauges when you signal are one of those small features that instantly spoil you for every other car.

As the road winds through the hills, you start to appreciate how composed the Palisade really is. The suspension absorbs the dips and rises of De Luz Road effortlessly, and the cabin insulation mutes everything except the faint hum of the tires. The big display in the center stack feels like a command hub— navigation, music, vehicle info—all exactly where you want it. With a quick tap, the wireless charger secures your phone, and the LED lighting gives the whole cabin a soft glow that feels more spa than SUV.

Eventually, the tight curves gave way to the wide-open stretch of wine country. This is the part of Temecula that never gets old: rolling vineyards, sun-soaked hillsides, and long, open roads that beg for windows down and music up. I slid open the panoramic roof, let the afternoon breeze roll through, and turned up the sound system. It’s one of the best I’ve heard—crisp, rich, and clear even at low volume. It turns the quiet of the Palisade’s interior into something special, like your own private concert moving through the vines.

CONTINUED >

The Palisade’s hybrid powertrain also shines out here. It moves between electric and gas power almost imperceptibly, and with combined fuel economy around 30 mpg, you can cover miles of countryside without watching the gauge drop. It’s the kind of effortless efficiency that makes long drives more about where you’re going, not when you’ll have to stop.

By late afternoon, I rolled into Old Town. The streets were buzzing with weekend energy, but parking—normally a small act of prayer—was easy. Between the overhead 360-degree camera and the wide backup display, the Palisade makes tight spaces feel wide open. With the big glass roof above and the soft interior lighting below, it’s the kind of environment you don’t mind sitting in while the world moves around you.

Old Town itself is timeless—storefronts, string lights, the smell of barbecue in the air. I stepped out for a quick stroll, then slid back into its leather-wrapped stillness, pressed the start button, and let the Palisade glide home as the sun set over the valley.

Driving the 2026 Hyundai Palisade isn’t about testing horsepower or chasing speed. It’s about what happens in between—the smooth rhythm of De Luz curves, the glow of the vineyards, the gentle hum through Old Town’s evening light. Around here, you don’t need a destination to justify a drive. You just need a reason to go, and the Palisade gives you plenty of them.

The Modern Christmas Tree

“The Modern Christmas Tree” was designed by Lawrence “Bud” Stoecker, a gifted engineer and builder. The first prototype was built in the sixties, and every Christmas, Stoecker would experiment to find which materials suited the design. Plexiglass was chosen for its translucence, which helped create the illusion of a tree made of glass. Stoecker’s holiday centerpieces were once created to enchant his family each year.

It debuted at the Denver Modernism show, in 2011. This was made possible by Stoecker’s grandson, Matt Bliss. He had been helping his grandparents move into a retirement community when he rediscovered one of the trees. Bliss, now in his early forties, had not seen one of them in years. Upon asking

his grandfather if he could keep it, Stoecker happily agreed. Producing his grandfather’s prototype trees and ensuring the centerpieces would go on to enchant other families throughout the world, was Bliss’ tribute to Stoecker.

The trees are known to resonate with baby-boomers, a generation of families who share an enduring love for the midcentury style that Stoecker thrived upon. Shawna Sarnowski, the owner of the tree seen on this issue's cover, confirms its timeless aesthetic. “Every year I look forward to displaying it,” Sarnowski said. “I think of it as an architectural art piece, encompassing all things retro and classic. The uniqueness of the Modern Christmas tree is like no other. It adds a touch of magic to my holiday decor.”

Its structure is held up by rings of plexiglass, complimented by hand-cut crystals and polished ornaments. It comes with an acrylic starburst, meant to be placed at the top, and a multi-colored light that can be altered at any time. Variants of the Modern Christmas Tree can be purchased at https://www.modernchristmastrees.com/.
