Savor the Season
Food has always been more than just food to me. It’s connection. It’s love. It’s the way a favorite meal can take us back to childhood in an instant, or how a glass of wine shared with friends can turn an ordinary night into something unforgettable.
I was just in Brazil and, for the first time in 11 years, I shared meals and moments with both of my brothers and my dad—together. My heart was so full I could barely hold the emotion. Around that table, with the people who have known me my whole life, I was reminded once again that the magic isn’t in the food itself, but in the love and togetherness it creates. Those were emotional, unforgettable moments I’ll always carry with me.
This October, as we celebrate Food & Drinks , I find myself thinking about that magic. The laughter, the stories, the comfort of knowing you belong. These are the moments that nourish more than just our bodies; they feed our souls.
In this issue, you’ll discover flavors to savor, places that bring people together, and stories of passion behind the dishes and drinks that make our community so rich. My hope is that as you turn each page, you’re inspired not just to eat and drink, but to pause, to taste, and to remember that life is meant to be savored.
Here’s to cozy nights, toasting to love, and the beautiful way food brings us home to ourselves and to one another.
With love and gratitude,

Mindset is the
Secr Ingredie
What you think creates what you experience.
Dining - whether out on the town or at home - is richer when your mindset aligns with the experience you want to create.
But let's be honest: after the demands of the day, it isn't always easy to shift gears.
3 Mindset Shifts for Joyful Dining:
From Routine Dinning to Celebration: every meal can feel like a toast to life.
From “What's Missing?” to Savoring: focus on the flavors, not what's lacking.
From “Just Food” to Connection: for joy is shared at the table, not just served.

Wine Within Reach
Discover Charleston Peak Winery, where desert terroir meets curiosity-driven winemaking
Tucked away 45 minutes from Las Vegas in the town of Pahrump, Charleston Peak Winery invites locals to explore a wine country experience that’s distinctively Southern Nevada. This winery combines a deep respect for tradition with a playful spirit of innovation, crafting wines that reflect the unique desert climate and captivate a diverse range of palates.
“We are often surprised by how many locals don’t realize a true wine country experience is right here,” Charleston Peak Winery General Manager Jennifer Sela Bowen says. A Las Vegas native who grew up in Summerlin, Jennifer brings her homegrown roots
together with the expertise of Napa Valley through her husband and winemaker, Steve Bowen, to create an incredible winery experience.
Charleston Peak Winery’s estate is set against sweeping mountain vistas, a dramatic landscape that shapes every grape vine’s story. Unlike cooler coastal regions, the Mojave Desert’s abundant sunlight means the harvest arrives early—typically late July or early August—to preserve brilliant acidity and delicate aromas. “If we waited until September or October, like others, the fruit would lose much of its crispness,” Jenifer explains.
The winery’s history stretches back to the early 1990s, but recent changes under new ownership have injected fresh energy without losing touch with its roots. Built originally in 1989 and releasing its first vintage in 1992, Charleston Peak (formerly known as Pahrump Valley Winery) embodies a long legacy of desert winemaking. Jennifer explains, “Our philosophy honors our legacy while embracing curiosity. Each vintage is a new opportunity to listen to the grape and fine-tune our craft.” This approach is exemplified by winemaker Steve, who used his Napa sensibilities and experimental spirit to recently
launch sparkling wines made with the ancient pétillant naturel (“pet nat”) method—an innovation that has been well-received.
The winery’s new ownership and management team have focused on revitalizing the vineyard, deepening community connections, and creating an elevated wine education experience. Jennifer shares, “Our team is not just made up of tasting room associates—they’re wine educators. We’re here to teach people about wine, helping them discover what they like.” Complimentary samples throughout the week reinforce their commitment to rebuilding trust and inviting new visitors to experience the winery authentically.
For visitors, Charleston Peak offers more than just wine. The tasting room experience is carefully tailored to suit beginners and experts alike, making every visit personal and educational. “Our team loves sharing stories, pairing tips, and technical insights that deepen appreciation,” Jennifer notes. Thoughtfully paired small bites, including highlights from Amari Italian Kitchen & Wine Shop in Las Vegas, and inventive chocolate flights complement the tasting selections, turning every sip into a discovery.

“Great wine doesn’t have to be a distant pilgrimage.”
Signature wines showcase the vineyard’s character. The Amargosa Blend is a particularly notable red, shifting each year based on the vintage’s best grapes but always grounded in the spirit of the region. A standout white is crafted from the Symphony grape—a resilient, flavor-rich variety planted decades ago—bridging Charleston Peak’s past with its evolving future. They’ve also introduced unique blends like Desert Moon and sourced varietals such as Malbec from northern Nevada’s Dyer region, expanding the diversity of their portfolio.
Jennifer emphasizes the accessibility of their wines, “We keep alcohol levels moderate to allow bright fruit and balance to shine through, making our wines approachable and great for food pairings.” This thoughtful crafting makes the winery especially appealing for those curious about exploring new regions without overwhelming their palate.
Beyond the tasting room’s charms, Charleston Peak Winery fosters community connections through its active wine club. The club brings enthusiasts together with quarterly shipments, special events, and exclusive deals on both food and wine. Jennifer points out, “It’s not just about drinking wine—it’s about building relationships. We want people to connect with the place and with each other, creating memories that last.”
In a region known more for its desert heat than vineyards, Charleston Peak Winery quietly showcases the potential of Southern Nevada’s terroir. The vineyard’s resilience to harsh conditions, combined with
thoughtful farming and winemaking techniques, results in wines that carry both intensity and nuance. Jennifer notes that the winery’s commitment to sustainability and quality helps ensure the land will continue to produce exceptional grapes for years to come.
This understated desert winery demonstrates that great wine doesn’t have to be a distant pilgrimage. With its mix of tradition, innovation, and inviting approach, Charleston Peak offers a compelling chapter in Southern Nevada’s evolving wine story—a destination tailored for locals eager to explore the depth of flavor and character growing right outside their door.

Charleston Peak Winery is at 3810 Winery Road in Pahrump, just 45 minutes from Las Vegas. Open Thursday to Monday, noon to 5:00 p.m. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday. ATASTEOF CONNECTION
Long before studying culinary arts, Chef Benny Graves had a strong understanding of how culture and great food are two of the world’s best unifiers. Chef Benny grew up immersed in culture and developed a love of food from the start. In college, he realized that blending his passion for both would create the ultimate recipe for career fulfillment and purpose.
“I quickly realized I had a natural gift for hand-and-eye coordination and a passion for creating new, beautiful dishes that bring people together,” Chef Benny shared.

Now offering private chef and consulting services in the valley, Chef Benny (chef-benny. com) specializes in creating diverse and culturally inspired menus for events, parties, weddings, and business gatherings. He infuses his culinary expertise and passions in every dish he creates. He also prepares weekly meals, healthier menu options, pantry stocking, and special occasion dinners like date nights. Chef Benny can create vegan and vegetarian menu options, focusing on bringing beautiful, surprising, and delicious food to every event or meal.
His wide selection of cuisine reflects the diverse beauty of the world he enjoys sharing with the community. “I specialize in nearly every cuisine you can imagine, from Mediterranean and Japanese to Italian, French, and Middle Eastern,” he said. Chef Benny’s favorite to cook? “Mediterranean–the vibrant colors, rich spices, and bold flavors inspire endless creativity.” Some of his most popular dishes include grilled lamb chops, creamy hummus, a roasted eggplant salad known as baba ghanoush, and a classic Mediterranean salad.
Every dish, no matter what the cuisine, begins with sourcing the finest ingredients. This process guarantees quality and commitment to each client’s unique palates.
“As a master chef, I can seamlessly cook Mediterranean, Japanese sushi, Korean, Mexican, French, Italian, Chinese, Greek, and Middle Eastern cuisines, which allow me to create diverse, custom menus that suit any occasion.” This is important for Chef Benny who focuses not only on serving distinct dishes but also on setting the table for an unmatched experience. “My ability to blend cultures and flavors ensures that my clients enjoy something truly one-of-akind,” he added.

Chef Benny’s commitment to his craft and exceptional service has been the keystone to his 22-yearlong career in the culinary industry. With plans to expand his offerings and further develop his personal brand, he is eager for the work that lays ahead of him. “I want to reach more people and become the first name that comes to mind when someone needs a private chef or catered event that stands out.”
A dinner for two is just as special as dinner for 200 for Chef Benny, who seizes every opportunity to do what he loves most. “I pour my heart into every dish and detail,” he remarked. “My mission is to bring joy, connection, and excitement to every table I serve,” his priority being someone who “truly cares about making your event unforgettable.”

LAKEFRONT FLAVOR
A local lakeside dining and lifestyle escape that creates moments worth savoring
Las Vegas has no shortage of places to eat, drink, and unwind. But tucked along the glimmering waters of Lake Jacqueline in Desert Shores, there’s a pocket of the city where things slow down. Here, dinner comes with a view, pastries are baked fresh each morning, and conversations stretch leisurely into the night.
“It feels like a hidden escape,” says Aimee Sobers, Marketing Director for Lakeside Village, the waterfront community. “With serene views, lush landscaping, and open-air patios, each meal at Lakeside Village comes with this incredible sense of calm. You just can’t rush it.”
A CURATED CULINARY COMMUNITY
Within a strollable cluster of tree-lined pathways, this neighborhood offers a dining scene that’s intentionally diverse.
“We’ve built a culinary community that reflects both diversity and heart,” Aimee explains. “Every concept here is hand-selected not just for its cuisine, but also for the passion and personality behind it.”

That means you might plan a Saturday night with French fine dining and a curated wine list, then follow it with a Sunday afternoon of tacos on a sunny patio or lingering over brunch and cappuccino. “Whether you’re in the mood for sophisticated dining or a quick bite by the water, you get variety without sacrificing quality or charm,” she notes.
AMONG THE STANDOUTS:
• Marche Bacchus – Refined French bistro and wine bar with a wine shop worth browsing.
• Americana – Seasonal, chef-driven American cuisine and a relaxed patio for weekend brunches.
• Buena Vista Kitchen – Latin street food with bold flavor— locals swear by the birria tacos.
• The Daily Bread – Farm-fresh breakfasts, flaky pastries, and locally roasted coffee from Hell’s Kitchen winner Scott Commings.
• Super Chill – Whimsical sundaes, colorful smoothies, and playful toppings that turn dessert into an event.
“Each place has a signature that keeps people coming back,” Aimee says. “Buena Vista packs big flavor into every bite, The Daily Bread has that comfort-brunch energy, and Super Chill just makes you smile the second you walk in.”

“This is where you lean back, watch the sunset, sip your wine, and stay for dessert.
The conversations feel warmer, the food tastes better, and the moments stick with you.”
— Aimee Sobers
DINING ON THE WATER
The lakefront setting shapes the entire dining experience.
“It’s not a grab-and-go kind of place,” Aimee says. “This is where you lean back, watch the sunset, sip your wine, and stay for dessert.”
Patios catch the shimmer of the water, and breezes off the lake add a softness to the air. Whether it’s a midday lunch under an umbrella or a moonlit dinner with live music in the background, the setting naturally slows the pace. “The conversations feel warmer, the food tastes better, and the moments stick with you.”
LIFE BEYOND THE PLATE
The food may be the initial draw, but the neighborhood offers much more. There’s a wedding venue on the water, a spa and salon, an on-site florist, tailoring services, and creative businesses offering printing, branding, and IT support.
Community events are part of the rhythm here. Seasonal craft fairs bring together local makers with music and food lining the walkways. Partnerships with organizations like Desert Shores HOA and the One Heart Foundation blend good times with giving back.
“One of our most meaningful traditions is the annual charity event with One Heart,” Aimee says. “It’s an evening where people dress up, connect over dinner and entertainment, and raise support for ending youth homelessness in Nevada. That combination of joy and purpose is something we’re proud of.”
Fall and winter bring more to look forward to, including the popular trunk-or-treat and restaurant-hosted events spotlighting seasonal menus. “We try to make sure there’s always something happening, so it feels fresh each time you visit,” she adds.
AN INVITATION TO SLOW DOWN
What sets this community apart is its pace. It’s about noticing the details, the sound of the water, the aroma drifting from a nearby kitchen, the sight of a couple clinking glasses under string lights.
“Whether you’re discovering a new dish, sipping wine by the water, or having an ice cream with your kids, the experience is always thoughtfully crafted,” Aimee says. “It’s about creating moments worth remembering.”
With five restaurants, a mix of specialty services, and ongoing events, this lakefront enclave has quietly become one of the city’s best-loved dining and gathering spots for those who know it.
The real charm here isn’t just in the food or the lake, it’s the connection between the two. You can enjoy a perfectly executed French dinner, a messy taco shared with friends, and a towering sundae—all within steps of the water— without ever feeling rushed.
It’s a reminder that sometimes, the best meals are the ones that invite you to linger.

CRUSH PAD
WINE, FRIENDSHIP, AND EXPLORATION BLEND IN AN APPROACHABLE BAR WITH WELCOMING EVENTS AND FLAVORS
BY
Jessica and Brian Dynda have always loved wine—but for many years, it was simply a passion, not a profession. That passion began more than 25 years ago, when the two, then in their 20s, traveled through France and Italy discovering the simple joy of everyday table wines. A few years later, careers took them to California, where their love of wine only grew stronger and more diverse.

Soon, their home became the gathering spot for friends and family. Hosting dinners, planning menus, and sharing bottles became a favorite way to connect. Those nights filled with laughter, food, and good wine sparked a dream: to one day open a wine bar of their own. Fifteen years later, in March 2024, that dream came true with the opening of Crush Pad Wine Bar, located near Buffalo and Sahara.
“Brian likes to say Crush Pad is our extended living room—and he’s right,” says Jessica. “We want people to feel comfortable here. Ask questions, try new wines, and discover what you really enjoy.”
“THE CURIOUS LIST IS OFTEN THE FIRST THING PEOPLE EXPLORE.”
At Crush Pad, the wine list covers everything from crisp whites and bold reds to sparkling bubbles and even orange wines. To complement the pours, there’s a thoughtful selection of charcuterie and small bites—think delicate French ham, lavender-infused goat cheese, robust Parmesans, and more.
The Dyndas also love making wine approachable for everyone. Each month, Crush Pad offers one or two intimate wine classes, limited to about 10 people, so guests can ask questions, taste, and learn without intimidation.
And while all the classic wines are here—cabernet, chardonnay, pinot
noir—the bar also features something special: the Curious List. This rotating menu highlights wines from lesser-known regions that surprise and delight. “I’ve been amazed by how adventurous our customers are,” Jessica says. “The Curious List is often the first thing people want to explore, and it’s been such a hit.”
That spirit of fun and exploration extends beyond the wine list. Crush Pad hosts lively themed events, from a Mardi Gras celebration complete with a jazz band and burger truck, to disco-ball New Year’s Eve parties, to this year’s 90’s Prom Night, “Under the Stars” (yes, powder blue tuxedos encouraged).
In 2025, Crush Pad added live music to the mix. Every Wednesday evening features live performances in the wine bar, and once a month, a Saturday “Date Night” pairs music with a themed charcuterie board—perfect after dinner with a glass of wine in hand.
And while both Dyndas and their staff are all educated wine professionals through either Court of Masters Sommeliers or Wine and Spirit Education Trust, Jessica and Brian say what matters most is their warmth. “We don’t want wine to feel intimidating,” Jessica explains. “That’s why our team wears T-shirts and big smiles. We believe in drinking what you want with no judgment! We just want to help people find what they love.”
For the latest on classes, live music, and upcoming events, visit www.crushpadwinebar.com.
At Crush Pad, passion truly pours into every glass—where wine, friendship, and exploration continue to blend, creating a community as welcoming and flavorful as the bar itself.

“ai Pazzi is a celebration of everything I love about Italian food”
Bold Flavors, Fresh Experience
Celebrity Chef Fabio Viviani introduces ai Pazzi: elevated dining at Summerlin’s JW Marriott
A notable addition to the Summerlin dining scene is ai Pazzi (aipazzi.com), an elevated restaurant helmed by celebrity chef Fabio Viviani. Known for his charismatic presence on Bravo’s “Top Chef” and his portfolio of acclaimed restaurants across the country, Chef Viviani brings a signature approach that blends bold flavors with thoughtful, sophisticated presentations.
Located within JW Marriott Las Vegas The Resort At Summerlin, ai Pazzi offers an inviting atmosphere where guests can enjoy fresh seafood, handmade pastas, indulgent entrées, and decadent desserts. The restaurant’s contemporary decor, featuring elegant Tuscan accents and intimate lighting, creates a warm setting that welcomes both casual diners and special occasions. While the culinary roots align with Italian tradition, the dining experience emphasizes innovation and Italian-inspired creativity more than conventional stereotypes.
Chef Viviani’s passion for food began growing up in Florence, Italy, where he developed a deep respect for authentic ingredients and classic techniques. Over the years, he has built a diverse hospitality empire, opening more than 40 venues nationwide, writing best-selling cookbooks, and remaining a familiar face on television. His dynamic personality and culinary expertise come together seamlessly at ai Pazzi, where every dish
is crafted with fresh ingredients and elevated techniques that celebrate not only classic tastes but also the joy of shared meals. “ai Pazzi is a celebration of everything I love about Italian food— bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and the joy of sharing a great meal with great company,” Chef Viviani says.
The menu offers a variety of enticing options. Starters like crostino with roasted mushrooms, gorgonzola fondue, and black truffle prosciutto cotto showcase richly layered flavors, while whipped ricotta bruschetta with cabernet grapes and truffled honey balances sweet and savory notes. For heartier fare, pollo scarpariello features tender braised chicken thighs paired with house-made sausage and herb-roasted potatoes, blending rustic comfort with modern flair.
Seafood lovers will enjoy the zuppa di pesce, a fragrant broth filled with Manila clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari, and rock fish bites. Meat enthusiasts can opt for the bistecca alla fiorentina, a grand 32-ounce Linz Heritage Reserve porterhouse grilled and seasoned with Mediterranean salt and roasted garlic.
Pasta selections like rigatoni vodka in a creamy Calabrian chili sauce and Wagyu short rib Bolognese with red wine ragout showcase the kitchen’s skillful take on familiar favorites, offering both spice and richness.
Dessert such as a flourless chocolate torte with fresh berries and spiced ganache, as well as a frutti de bosco panna cotta that combines berry custard and basil meringues make for a refreshing finish.
Complementing the menu is a cocktail program with standouts such as “Montenegro Nights,” marrying bourbon, caramel syrup, and Amaro Montenegro with toasted marshmallow, and “Snap Outta It!”—a lively mix of Hendrix gin, limoncello, and ginger syrup.
Attentive service further elevates the dining experience, ensuring a thoughtful pace and personalized touches.
For those drawn to rich textures and nuanced flavors, ai Pazzi delivers an approachable yet elevated evening of dining. Whether you crave bold flavors or familiar comfort with a creative twist, ai Pazzi offers an inviting atmosphere—perfect for gathering with friends or enjoying a relaxed evening just around the corner.

the CREEPY crawler
For this design, you’ll need several pumpkins or gourds in various shapes and sizes, some white and metallic acrylic paint, hot glue and some fake creepy crawlers.
Paint your “background” pumpkins in metallic colors. For your centerpiece, use white paint to cover the body, metallic paint for the stem and hot glue your creepy crawlers all around.
the GALACTIC gourd
Go to the “dark side” with this design that requires matte black paint, white paint, some metallic paint (for an out-ofthis-world vibe) and some newspapers. Be careful—this one could get messy!
Leave your stems natural or cover with metallic paint if desired. Then, coat your mini pumpkins in matte black paint—be sure to cover everything!
You can leave some matte black, but for an extra touch, lay out newspaper and splatter your white paint onto some of your black pumpkins. Bonus—as long as you catch it before it dries, any paint should be easily removed with some warm water.
