The Beautiful Mess We Call December

Ah, December. Who else immediately thinks of the opening scene in Home Alone when the holiday season finally arrives? Everyone running around, trying to get ready for the very thing we’ve all been waiting to celebrate. It’s the month where the calendar starts to look like a game of Tetris, the coffee never lasts long enough, and the house somehow turns into a winter wonderland—or, let’s be honest, a full-on demolition zone. It’s chaotic, it’s loud, and it’s glorious.

In our house, that chaos comes with tiny, sticky hands. Our little girls—with their big emotions—are learning the true meaning of Christmas while hunting for Penny the Elf on the Shelf every morning and somehow managing to knock a tree ornament off every other day. And you know what? I wouldn’t trade any of it. These messy moments, both figuratively and literally, are the real magic of this season. Their joy is contagious.

But most importantly, in the middle of all the running and planning, December brings a rare sense of universal peace. For a moment, the world feels a little less divided. People smile at strangers, extend grace more freely, and embrace the spirit of the season with a little more tenderness.

From our family to yours, may your holidays be loud, imperfect, and full of joy. Savor the little moments and be present with the ones you love. [NOTE TO SELF!]

Isaiah 9:6: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

DRIVEN TO SERVE

A look Inside Rennstahl, Nashville’s Premier Locally Owned European Automotive Service Center

Brandon Bryant, owner of Rennstahl, has had a passion for cars for as long as he can remember — specifically, European models. Growing up fascinated by the precision and engineering that brands like BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes put into every detail, Bryant spent years in the automotive industry working in high-end service centers before creating Rennstahl. Dedicating time to perfect the craft, he witnessed firsthand where customer experience fell short within the industry. It had become a dream of his to open a shop of his own — one that serves the community, elevates industry standards, and ensures each customer feels valued and confident in the care of their vehicle. It became his mission to create something beyond your average repair shop and this year, his dream became a reality. Inspired by the German name race (“Renn”) and steel (“Stahl”), Rennstahl was designed to exercise top-notch care, integrity, and services.

“To me, [Rennstahl] represents strength, precision, and performance — the qualities we strive to deliver in every repair and service,” Bryant shares. “The name captures the heart of European

automotive culture while giving us a brand identity that feels bold, clean, and timeless.”

A leading provider of European auto repair here in Music City, Rennstahl is a locally owned and operated shop located in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood. A full-service European specialty center, Rennstahl handles everything from routine maintenance — oil services, brakes, tires, and alignments — to advanced diagnostics, electrical repairs, engine work, and performance tuning. With a close-knit team of factory-trained technicians and family members who truly love what they do, the heart behind Rennstahl is just as large as their mission. Intricate detail and exceptional craftsmanship are essential at Rennstahl — whether it's the way they diagnose a vehicle or the way they designed their lounge, everything is intentional.

“We approach service like the automakers we admire — precision first, no shortcuts,” Bryant explains. “Our shop is spotless and organized, our customer lounge is refined and comfortable, and even our communication is designed to be clear and transparent. Every touchpoint should reflect the same level of craftsmanship as the cars we work on.”

“We approach service like the automakers we admire — precision first, no shortcuts. Every touchpoint should reflect the same level of craftsmanship as the cars we work on.”

Delivering master-level service that preserves your car’s performance and integrity, Rennstahl uses only genuine or OEM-quality parts. Rennstahl values honest pricing with their customers and doesn’t upsell or hide behind shop fees — they communicate every step before a wrench is turned. Additionally, they always go the extra mile when it comes to keeping their customers happy; as a family-owned business, they take pride in offering a level of service you simply won’t find at larger corporate chains. Rennstahl provides a complimentary shuttle service, and immediate appointments to make your experience as convenient as possible.

“Trust is everything… it turns first-time visitors into lifelong clients,” Bryant shares. “Many of our guests tell us they finally feel like they have a shop they can trust, and that’s the highest compliment we can receive.”

Working with family has been incredibly rewarding for Brandon. Together, they are shaping the culture of care that defines Rennstahl. With each passing day and each customer that walks through their doors, he is reminded of the passion behind the brand.

“At the end of the day, this isn’t just a business for us—it’s something we’re building together for the long haul,” Bryant says.

Rennstahl is committed to staying ahead of the curve. Continually investing in the latest technology, expanding their team of talented professionals, and embracing the latest training are just a few of the things that set them apart. With European models changing at a rapid pace, the team works hard to remain on top of the newest trends. Additionally, they are planning more events and educational clinics to help drivers feel their utmost confidence while driving their vehicles. With exciting partnerships on the horizon, their mission is clear: to raise the standard for European auto service in Middle Tennessee and redefine what a repair shop can be.

“Nashville thrives on creativity and connection, and that spirit fits us perfectly,” Bryant shares. “We’re proud to be locally owned and family-operated, serving a community that values authenticity. Our guests share a love for great cars and great people, and being able to grow our business here, and give back to the community that supports us, means everything.”

Local Roots, Global Reach

Blending Nashville charm with global sophistication, CHORD Real Estate’s founders share how staying independent, and deeply personal, has become their greatest competitive edge.

BY

In an era of mergers, mega-brands, and algorithm-driven home searches, boutique brokerages are proving that personalization still matters. We sat down with Steve Luther, Ashley Luther, and Van Hohe—the founders of CHORD Real Estate, a Music Row–based firm redefining what “concierge service” means in Nashville—to talk about staying authentic while thinking globally in today’s modern economy.

NATIONAL FIRMS [LIKE COMPASS AND RE/MAX] DOMINATE HEADLINES. HOW DOES A BOUTIQUE BROKERAGE LIKE CHORD STAY COMPETITIVE?

Van: Scale isn’t everything. The big brands build impressive infrastructures, but they can lose touch with the nuances that make local markets thrive. We stay competitive by knowing Nashville block by block—and by customizing every client experience instead of forcing it through a corporate mold. The personal experience is key!

Ashley: We can also often move faster. Being independent means we choose the best-ofbreed tools for marketing, analytics, and client communication rather than relying on one pre-set platform. If something better comes along next week, we can integrate it immediately. That agility, when combined with personal connection, is our superpower.

WHAT DOES “LOCAL ROOTS, GLOBAL REACH” REALLY MEAN FOR CHORD?

Steve: It’s our identity. Nashville is our home base—our families, our churches, our schools are here—but our clients’ lives are increasingly international. They want to buy second homes abroad, invest internationally, or even relocate here from overseas. CHORD bridges that gap through relationships we’ve built in a number of select countries—and that list is growing!

Ashley: Through our partnership network, our listings get global exposure in cities like London, Tokyo, and Dubai. And with our crypto-certified capabilities, clients can even purchase property using blockchain transactions. We bring world-class service to a local firm— without losing the human touch.

HOW HAS CONSOLIDATION IN THE INDUSTRY AFFECTED CLIENT EXPECTATIONS?

Steve: Clients are more cautious now. They’ve seen headlines about lawsuits, commission changes, and tech disruption. They want transparency, not bureaucracy. We see that as an opportunity—people want to talk to a real person who actually understands the contract and the neighborhood, not an 800-number.

WHAT ROLE DOES TECHNOLOGY PLAY IN MAINTAINING THAT PERSONAL CONNECTION?

Van: Technology should enhance relationships, not replace them. We use it to make introductions and elevate storytelling—virtual tours, cinematic marketing, AI-powered analytics—but the goal is still connection. A home purchase is emotional. No algorithm can replicate that feeling of “this is the one.”

Steve: Exactly. Our tech gets clients in the door, but our expertise gets them home.

CHORD IS ALSO KNOWN FOR ITS COMMUNITY WORK. WHY IS THAT IMPORTANT TO YOUR BUSINESS MODEL?

Ashley: Because Nashville built us. Supporting organizations like the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research and The Needs List Foundation was never a PR move—it’s in our DNA. It’s personal. Those relationships remind us that “home” isn’t just about property lines; it’s about people.

Van: When your business is rooted in service, giving back isn’t separate—it’s part of the rhythm. That’s what CHORD means: different notes coming together to create something harmonious.

IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE CHORD’S ADVANTAGE IN ONE SENTENCE?

Steve: Local trust, global sophistication.

Ashley: Agility without bureaucracy.

Van: Personal service, powered by innovation.

As Nashville continues to evolve, CHORD Real Estate proves that independence and integrity can outperform scale. Their blend of Southern hospitality and forward-thinking technology may just be the new definition of luxury.
