We are a city that truly loves its locals, our Kansas City-born brands, makers, artists, and entrepreneurs. Whether it’s a KC-branded Charlie Hustle tee worn with hometown pride, a neighborhood bakery, a small-batch roaster or local coffee shop, or one of the many breweries that feels like being in someone’s living room, supporting local is simply who we are. Our shared sense of hometown pride is unmistakable and felt by residents and visitors alike.

Natives know that Kansas City is the best-kept secret in the Midwest. It’s unassuming and charming, with pockets of personality woven throughout the metropolitan area. Each neighborhood, suburb, and city brings its own character and style. Some areas are steeped in rich history, while others are newer and evolving, but the diversity of experiences across the metro is what gives Kansas City its depth and charm.
Yes, we’re known for our football, barbecue, jazz and friendly demeanor, but we are so much more. Our culinary scene is alive with talent, from James Beardrecognized chefs to bold newcomers redefining comfort food, along with mixologists earning national attention.
Right here in the heart of Leawood, you’ll find standout restaurants, beloved local shops, beautiful parks and trails, and thoughtfully curated public art. The intentional city planning by the City of Leawood over the years is what makes it such a special and beautiful place to be. Beyond Leawood, we have a variety of Instagram-worthy coffee shops, from Cafe Equinox located inside a charming greenhouse at Family Tree Nursery, or the European-inspired Bisou in the Westside of KC, or carefully curated food halls like Strang Hall in Overland Park, The Lenexa Public Market or Parlor in the Crossroads, and the ever expansive KC foodie scene of locally-owned restaurants that gives us flavors from cultures from all over the world.
It has been something special to watch Kansas City evolve over the years, especially when I think back to what it felt like growing up here. There are still pieces of the city that feel familiar and comforting, places that hold memories and traditions, but alongside them is an impressive transformation. From the revitalization of downtown to the steady expansion south, and the arrival of so many locally owned establishments offering new ideas and experiences, the growth has been exciting to witness.
Our Love Local issue is a celebration of makers, artists, and small businesses that are part of our community. It’s also an invitation to explore a little further and support the neighbors behind the brands you love. And while winters can be brutal here, don’t let that stop you from getting out, trying something new, or revisiting an old favorite. Let’s continue to support our neighbors and shop local.

and Four Decades of Creation

Tom Corbin’s path to becoming a celebrated artist was anything but straightforward. With a marketing degree and early careers in sales and advertising, Corbin seemed headed down a conventional path, shaped by parental influences in both art and engineering. But a chance invitation to a sculpture class changed everything, igniting a creative journey that has now spanned more than four decades.
“I am best known as a bronze sculptor," says Corbin. "Though my sculpture has predominantly been figurative, much of my current work has been nonobjective. In addition to sculpture, my functional work comes in the form of lighting, tables and accessories. Painting, both acrylic and oil, rounds out my various disciplines. Embracing a wide range of disciplines has set me apart—sculpture, furniture design and painting. My work continues to evolve as I endeavor to try out new things with all mediums.”
Corbin’s early success in sculpture was propelled by timing and talent. With relatively few bronze artists in the midwest, his commissions grew steadily, eventually bringing national exposure through furniture design. A pair of bronze tables caught the attention of a design showroom in Chicago, Holly Hunt Ltd., which began representing his work in 1988. Today, Corbin is represented by 25 galleries and showrooms and has sculpted over 400 pieces ranging from miniature forms to monumental 13-foot bronzes.
In 2008, Corbin relocated his studio to a restored 1912 firehouse in Rosedale, Kansas. The historic space became a hub for creativity, providing a place to experiment, explore new materials, and expand into nonobjective sculpture, painting, and functional design.

Among his most notable accomplishments is the bronze monument of President Harry S. Truman, installed in the U.S. Capitol, capturing the former president in motion to reflect his active, approachable character. A second edition of the monument was installed in Brussels for NATO’s 75th anniversary, highlighting the global reach of Corbin’s work.
“Being chosen as the sculptor to complete this monument is an immense honor, to say the least. Portraying this amazing man through my art is the highlight of my career. Truman was a common man, a man of the people, always out to greet and shake your hand. And that’s what I wanted to communicate with his pose. Thus, unlike many statues which are stiff and reflect no movement, my statue of Truman depicts him briskly walking down steps, reflecting what a true man of action he was.”
Reflecting on his art career, Corbin emphasizes the satisfaction of living his passion every day and the joy of taking an unconventional path.
“I am most proud of having made a career out of what I like to do best. And to the point where I have had the luxury
to employ incredibly talented people and who have become great friends. Success to me is being able to live your passion day in and day out. I also get a lot of satisfaction from looking back at my life and reflecting on the body of work I've produced, the wonderful friendships I have made in the industry, and the joy that taking the road less traveled has provided me over the last nearly 40 years.”
For aspiring artists, Corbin stresses the importance of distinction.
“You need to set yourself apart not only through the work itself but also by the way you market yourself. You need to show that you are unique. Also be open minded—you can learn from all types of artists. Talk to everyone you know who is doing art professionally. Understand that art is a business and treat it accordingly. By becoming a working artist, you are owning a business.”
Tom Corbin’s influence can be seen in galleries, museums, and public spaces across the country and abroad. For more information, visit corbinbronze.com

ARTICLE BY ALLISON SWAN | PHOTOGRAPHY BY JANIE JONES

Birdie James built a career baking wedding cakes so sculptural and striking they felt closer to art than dessert. Over the years, her work earned both national and international recognition, with designs shared and admired far beyond Kansas City.
“My own journey has been shaped by curiosity, creativity, and experience,” says James. “From childhood art classes to architectural photography trips in Kansas City and Chicago, from studying painters and textile patterns to learning the craft of wedding cakes from my beloved aunt, each experience enriched my perspective and shaped how I work. These influences ultimately led me to culinary school, and later, to launching my own wedding cake business. It was this combination of artistic foundation that inspired me to design the architecturally unique wedding cakes that have been liked and shared around the world.”
That artistic foundation became the lens through which she eventually viewed pastry, less as a recipe-driven task and more as a creative discipline.
“Every creative field, whether that be architecture, textiles, or the pastry arts, demands dedication, patience, and a willingness to learn. Baking is no different. To become a true baker or pastry

artist, you must master the fundamentals, study styles of other chefs, and immerse yourself in a wide range of techniques and ingredients from around the world.”
Success didn’t arrive overnight. James embraced every stage starting with the experimentation, the breakthroughs, and the inevitable setbacks, understanding that each challenge refined her skills and sharpened her vision. That mindset carried her through years of growth and recognition, and ultimately gave her the confidence to move on to new chapters when the time felt right.
Though she no longer bakes professionally, the lessons from that chapter continue to shape how she approaches life and creativity. Baking taught her to trust her instincts, take risks, and pursue what she wants with intention. It’s a philosophy she still carries forward, and one she’s eager to share with home bakers looking to elevate their own creations.
For those baking at home, James believes excellence begins with fundamentals. Precision matters more than many people realize, and one of the simplest upgrades a baker can make is swapping measuring cups for a kitchen scale.

“TO ANYONE CONSIDERING BAKING AS A CAREER, EMBRACE EVERY MOMENT OF THE JOURNEY. BE CURIOUS. EXPERIMENT BOLDLY.”
“Bake by weight. Use a kitchen scale for consistent results. Baking relies on precision, and measuring ingredients by volume, such as scooping flour, can lead to variations from one measurement to the next.”
Equally important is understanding your oven. Many baking frustrations stem not from recipes, but from uneven or inaccurate oven temperatures.
“Ensure your oven is level by placing a level on the oven rack and checking both diagonals. A level oven helps promote even
baking. It’s equally important to verify the temperature. Use an oven thermometer to confirm accuracy and identify any hot spots. This will help you anticipate areas where your baked goods may brown more quickly and allow you to adjust by rotating or repositioning your pan as needed. If your oven runs hot, compensate by lowering the temperature or reducing the baking time.”
James also encourages bakers to think beyond the clock. Paying attention to sensory cues can be far more reliable than baking times.
“Baking times should be treated as guidelines rather than strict rules. Use sensory cues to determine doneness: aroma is often the first indicator, followed by visual signs, such as golden edges.”
Learning to trust these cues builds confidence and leads to better outcomes over time, especially if baking becomes more than just a hobby.
“To anyone considering baking as a career, embrace every moment of the journey. Be curious. Experiment boldly. Celebrate your discoveries, learn from your mistakes, and never stop growing. Every cake you design, every flavor you perfect, and every challenge you overcome will shape you into the baker and the artist you aspire to be.”
Birdie James’s cakes may no longer be stacked in tiers at wedding receptions, but her influence remains in the lessons she shares, the inspiration she offers, and the reminder that creativity, when nurtured with patience and purpose, can take you further than you ever imagined.
All ingredients should be at room temperature before proceeding.
• 85g egg yolks
• 34g sugar (1)
• 34g neutral oil
• 45g milk
• 1 tsp elderflower cordial/syrup
• 86g all-purpose flour
• 1g salt
• 138g egg whites
• 60g sugar (2)
1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C) and prepare 2 5 or 6-inch round cake pans by lining the bottom with parchment paper. Note: Do NOT spray the sides of the cake pan.
2. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar (1), oil, milk, and elderflower cordial until smooth and pale.
3. Sift in the flour and fold until just combined.
4. In another bowl, you are going to make a meringue. Whip the egg whites to soft peaks, gradually adding sugar (2) until medium peaks form.
5. Fold the meringue into the yolk mixture in three additions, being careful not to deflate the batter.
6. Pour the batter evenly between the 2 pans and tap lightly to release any large air bubbles.
7. Bake for about 30 minutes, until golden and springy to the touch. Immediately invert on a wire rack to cool completely.
8. Once cool, run a knife through the edge to release the cake.
Gooseberries have a high level of pectin which helps create a thick, gel-like consistency.
• 400g gooseberries (fresh or frozen)
• 100g sugar (adjust to taste, tart berries may need additional sugar)
• 30ml water or apple juice (optional - mostly needed with using fresh berries)
• 1 tsp lemon juice
• 1 tsp vanilla
1. Place gooseberries, sugar, and optional liquid, in a saucepan.
2. Cook over medium-low heat until berries release juice and start to break down.
3. Stir in lemon juice and vanilla.
4. Blend the filling for a smooth finish.
5. Transfer to a bowl and let cool to room temp.
6. Cover with plastic wrap directly on the surface to prevent a skin from forming.

All ingredients should be at room temperature before proceeding.
• 150g egg whites
• 250g granulated sugar
• 450g unsalted butter, cut into large cubes
• 2 tsp elderflower cordial/syrup
• 1/2 tsp salt
1. Place egg whites and sugar in a heatproof bowl. Set over a saucepan (or bain-marie) of gently simmering water. Whisk constantly until the sugar is fully dissolved. I run the mixture between two fingers to test the mixture to ensure everything is dissolved--this should be smooth with no gritty texture.
2. Strain mixture through a sieve into a mixer bowl to remove any possible egg lumps.
3. Add your salt and whip on high speed until the bowl feels cool to the touch. You should have stiff, glossy peaks.
4. Reduce speed to medium and add butter a few cubes at a time. Allowing each piece to incorporate before adding the next. It may look curdled--keep mixing.
5. Once the mixture has come together, add your vanilla. Finish on low speed for 2 minutes to remove air bubbles. You can swap out the whip for a beater to remove even more air bubbles, but not necessary.
Trim the top of the cake to an even height. Halve each cake horizontally to make four layers. Spread a generous layer of compote and and several dollops of buttercream between each sponge layer. Finish by spreading the buttercream over the top and sides of the cake, smoothing to finish. Best served at room temperature. Optional: mix in a little gooseberry compote into the buttercream and use this in between the layers.

HOW ALORA MEDICAL SPA BLENDS MEDICAL EXPERTISE, PERSONALIZATION, AND CALM CARE INTO A TRULY WHOLE-PERSON EXPERIENCE
ARTICLE BY LAUREN POWERS
PHOTOGRAPHY
BY JANIE JONES
From the moment patients step inside Alora Medical Spa and Wellness Center, the atmosphere feels relaxed and welcoming. There is no pressure to rush, no expectation to arrive knowing exactly what to ask for, and no sense of being pushed toward a treatment. Instead, the experience feels easy and approachable. The space is quaint and intentionally designed, offering a calm, healthy energy that puts people at ease while still feeling professional and well cared for.

That balance between comfort and clinical credibility is intentional. Alora was created to fill a gap many patients experience in traditional healthcare, where visits are often rushed, and concerns tied to aging, hormones, energy, weight, and confidence may not receive the time or attention they deserve. The goal was to create a setting where evidence-based medical care could be applied to real-life quality-of-life concerns in a way that felt personal, unrushed, and supportive.
This vision shows up in how care is delivered every day. Appointments begin with listening. Providers focus on understanding not just symptoms or lab values, but how patients feel, function, and want to live. Treatments are selected carefully with an emphasis on safety, personalization, and long-term impact rather than quick fixes. The result is care that aims to help patients look better, feel better, and function better in their everyday lives.
Alora’s foundation in medicine plays a central role in that approach. The spa originated within WCJC OBGYN, and although it now operates independently, that clinical heritage continues to shape its philosophy. Beginning in a women’s health setting established a standard of evidence-based care, safety, and professionalism from the start. It also created a deep understanding of how hormones, metabolism, aging, and overall wellness intersect.
That medical lens carries through Alora’s full range of services. Aesthetic offerings include neurotoxins and dermal fillers, advanced laser treatments such as IPL and laser hair removal, pigmentation correction, collagen-stimulating therapies, ablative laser treatments, and comprehensive facial services, including HydraFacial. Each treatment is chosen because it delivers reliable, proven results when used thoughtfully and skillfully.

Wellness services are equally comprehensive. Alora provides medically guided weight management focused on improving body composition and metabolic health, and hormone therapy for both men and women. Additional offerings include nutrition and supplement guidance, gastrointestinal health support, stress and sleep testing, and emerging therapies such as peptides. Together, these services allow clients to address both appearance and overall health in one cohesive setting.
Helping patients determine what is right for them is a core part of the experience. Every new relationship begins with a consultation that may last anywhere from 30 minutes to more than an hour, depending on the complexity of goals and concerns. Medical history is reviewed carefully, questions are encouraged, and options are explained clearly. Some patients begin treatment the same day, while others complete lab work or take time to consider next steps. There is no pressure to move faster than feels comfortable.
First-time med spa patients are met with particular care. The team emphasizes reassurance and education at every stage. Knowledgeable front staff are available to answer questions by phone or in person before an appointment is ever scheduled.. Patients are also invited to try skincare products or supplements so they can experience benefits firsthand before committing.
Alora’s most popular services reflect the concerns many patients share. Hormone therapy and weight management are in high demand because they address changes that are often under recognized or under treated in

traditional settings. Neurotoxins, facials, and laser hair removal remain popular for their visible results and minimal downtime.
What truly distinguishes Alora from other medical spas is its physician-owned and physician-led model paired with an intentionally low-volume approach. Rather than prioritizing high turnover, the focus remains on spending more time with fewer patients.
This allows providers to build relationships, understand long-term goals, and deliver care that feels intentional and individualized. Safety is woven into every step through thorough education, conservative treatment planning, detailed pre- and post-care instructions, and ongoing staff training.
Patients often note that their results align closely with what was discussed during consultations. Expectations are clearly set, progress feels measured and realistic, and outcomes reflect thoughtful planning rather than surprise.
Alora also works to challenge common misconceptions about medical spas. Not all practices operate with the same level of medical oversight,

and ownership and philosophy matter. High-quality medical aesthetics and wellness care address real health concerns tied to aging and vitality. When delivered responsibly, they are not about vanity but about helping patients feel better, function better, and age well.
When patients leave Alora, the goal is for them to feel heard, valued, and confident in their care. In the days and weeks that follow, that confidence is meant to deepen into trust.
For those considering their first appointment, the guidance is simple. Start with a consultation. Take things gradually. Understand that more aggressive or expensive treatments are not always necessary. Often, the most meaningful results come from thoughtful planning, education, and a care team that meets patients exactly where they are.
At Alora Medical Spa and Wellness Center, that philosophy defines the experience. Care is intentional, medically grounded, and centered on the whole person, creating a space where patients are supported not just in how they look, but in how they live.

This Longtime Family-Owned Business Can Help Owners Make Choices To Fit Their Home

One of the easiest ways to refresh a room's look is to update the window treatments. New blinds, shutters, or draperies can adjust the lighting in the space and emphasize the decor already in place. This is a high-impact renovation with options that can be easily tailored to your budget.

“This is a high-impact renovation with options that can be easily tailored to your budget.”
Budget Blinds of Overland Park/Leawood is a great place to start. This full-service company offers everything from blinds, shades, shutters, and drapes. They also install motorized window treatments and shading for outdoor living spaces. Accent touches, such as pillows in all sizes, custom bedding, and valances, are also available.
On a recent project, design consultant Morgan Grafton helped some Bucyrus homeowners with custom soft treatments to enhance their newly built home and control light. They had worked with Budget Blinds in the past, and their interior designer, Abraham Colone of Atelier Colone LLC, suggested they browse the showroom's vast selection.
Grafton has four years of experience with Budget Blinds and a passion for continued learning in the field. She says, "I stay up to date on trends and styles with multiple training courses completed throughout each year, and I have also attended and completed the Inspired Drapes Drapery School."
The Bucyrus homeowners' final choices included draperies accented with sheers and a few roman shades to complement the home's minimalist contemporary look and bohemian accents. The entire project took 12 weeks from initial contact to final install.
Budget Blinds of Overland Park/Leawood is a small business backed by a large organization. The company has been in business since 2002 and is owned

by Jim and Debbie Stoddard. They offer 15 brands of window coverings in a wide array of styles, budgets and applications. They also provide the best warranty in the business, with five years, no questions asked, on most of their products.
Courtney Stoddard Laufketter, vice president of sales and marketing, says, "It all started as a small four-person business in the basement of my grandparents' house and has grown to almost ten employees and two storefronts."
Homeowners can browse in the Budget Blinds showrooms, or they will come to your home or office with samples and ideas for your windows. They measure and provide an estimate on the spot. That price includes the services of their professional installation team. Then, the typical turnaround is approximately six weeks from order to installation for most blinds and shades, while shutters and draperies take a little longer.

On any given day in Kansas City, you might find the scent of fresh pretzels drifting from a home kitchen, children chatting in both English and German, and a table set for Kaffee und Kuchen. At the center of it all is the woman behind Dirndl Kitchen, a local food influencer, cookbook author, and mother who has made it her mission to share German culture in a way that feels welcoming and delicious.

Her story begins in Trier, Germany’s oldest city, where she grew up surrounded by history, family, and the comforting rhythms of home cooking. As a teenager, she felt an undeniable pull toward the United States and enrolled in an exchange program at age fifteen, landing in a small town near Kansas City. While the experience opened her eyes to a new world, it also came with a powerful sense of homesickness, especially when it came to food.
After returning to Germany to finish high school, she found herself drawn back to Kansas, this time to study at the University of Kansas. What began as a short-term plan became a life. She met her husband, built a family, and now raises three children, ages seven, five, and two, in the Kansas City area. Keeping a piece of Germany alive at home has become both a comfort and a calling, one that helps her stay connected to her roots while passing them on to her children.
That connection is most vivid in the kitchen. Her earliest inspiration came from her grandmother, Oma Sieghilde, whose cooking was guided by intuition rather than written recipes. Watching her cook by feel left a lasting impression. When she moved to the United States, recreating those beloved dishes became an emotional and technical challenge. Hours spent on the phone and in handwritten letters helped translate Oma’s methods into measurements that worked with American ingredients and appliances. Over time, those efforts turned into something bigger.

“IN
TRADITION WITH AN AMERICAN BELIEF THAT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, SHE HAS CREATED MORE THAN A BRAND. SHE HAS CREATED A SHARED TABLE, ONE WHERE KANSAS CITY IS ALWAYS INVITED TO PULL UP A CHAIR AND TASTE A LITTLE PIECE OF GERMANY.”

In 2015, she launched Dirndl Kitchen, a German food blog that began as a personal project and grew into a thriving platform. Through it, she shares recipes that go far beyond the familiar bratwurst and pretzels, highlighting the regional and deeply personal nature of German cuisine. Dishes like Klößchen, her grandmother’s mini potato dumplings served with bacon and caramelized onions, carry memories so strong they can bring her to tears. The same is true of her pretzels, perfected after years of testing, which she describes as a five thousand mile shortcut back to Germany.
Living out German traditions in Kansas City extends beyond food. Her family celebrates both German and American holidays, sometimes overlapping in joyful chaos. Building a local community of German families has been essential, offering a place where children can play and speak German together and parents can share the unique experience of raising bilingual kids in the Midwest.
Kansas City has embraced her work with enthusiasm. From television appearances making pretzels and Christmas cookies to a pop up bakery at the Overland Park Farmers Market, she has found an audience eager to learn. One of her most meaningful moments came unexpectedly at Oak Park Mall, when a follower shared that she and her sister cook Dirndl Kitchen recipes together over FaceTime, bridging the distance after her sister moved to Germany. Stories like that affirm the power of food to connect people across borders.
Her recently released cookbook, German Home Kitchen , marks a new chapter. Writing it was both a dream and a vulnerable leap, especially knowing that printed pages cannot be easily edited. She hopes readers feel the love and persistence behind each recipe and find comfort in creating their own sense of home, wherever they are.

Looking ahead, her ideas are as abundant as her energy. She is developing German spice blends, a sourdough pretzel baking kit, and even an advent wreath. A cooking show and a German bakery and community space remain cherished dreams. Locally, she continues to find ways to collaborate, from farmers markets to unexpected partnerships like working with the Kansas City Chiefs to create content for their official German fan account.
At the heart of it all is a simple philosophy. Find your thing and do it well. In blending German tradition with an American belief that anything is possible, she has created more than a brand. She has created a shared table, one where Kansas City is always invited to pull up a chair and taste a little piece of Germany.

Flammkuchen is a bacon and onion flatbread or pizza with a sour cream base. This crispy-chewy, SUPER EASY recipe originated in the once-German region of Alsace in France (in German ‘Elsass’), where it’s called ‘tarte flambée.’In Germany, you’ll find Flammkuchen at Biergartens, Christmas markets, and even at Oktoberfest in Munich. Enjoy it as a snack, appetizer, or entrée. It’s also common to eat a whole Flammkuchen by yourself. I also prefer not to share, although my recipe serves 2.
FLAMMKUCHEN DOUGH
• 1 ½ cups (200 grams) flour
• 2 tablespoons (25 milliliters) olive oil
• ½ teaspoon (½ teaspoon) salt
• ½ cup (120 milliliters) water
FLAMMKUCHEN TOPPINGS
• 7 ounces (200 grams) sour cream
• 4 tablespoons (60 milliliters) heavy whipping cream
• 1 ¼ cups (200 grams) yellow onion about 1 large onion, cut into thin rings
• 3 ½ ounces (100 grams) bacon thick cut, cut into small strips (lardons) or dice
• salt and pepper
• ½ cup (50 grams) gruyère cheese optional, but highly recommend!
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Preheat the oven to the highest temperature (usually 500° Fahrenheit or 260° Celsius) and if you have a pizza stone, feel free to use it. Baking it on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper works fine as well.
2. Make The Dough: Mix together the dough ingredients. If it’s still sticky, add some more flour until you are able to work it with your hands. If it’s too dry, add some more water.
3. Prepare the Toppings: Mix together the sour cream and heavy whipping cream. I personally LOVE to add in some shredded gruyère for an added rustic flavor, which is totally optional and not as traditional. Season to taste with some salt and pepper.
4. Assemble & Bake: Roll out the dough thinly and spread out the sour cream mixture on it using a spoon. Evenly distribute the onion rings and cut up bacon (I like lardons, which are thin strips or diced bacon for Flammkuchen).
5. Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the bacon starts becoming crispy and the crust starts becoming golden.
Guten Appetit!

Thalia Cherry is the talented, vivacious mind behind this truly unique Kansas City brand, which has been energizing the fashion scene since 2012. Born from her deep passion and curiosity for sports, she wanted athletes to have more to choose from than basic sweatpants. Chances are, you have already spotted some of our local stars wearing Cherry pieces.
“Our designs are worn by a variety of cultural figures, from musicians, artists, and athletes to influencers who value quality and cultural relevance. These include Dawn Staley, Sophie Cunningham, Patrick Mahomes, and many players from the Kansas City Chiefs and WNBA,” she noted.
Some of the brand’s signature pieces capture its DNA perfectly, including bold varsity jackets, stylish snap-pants, and hats that celebrate sports heritage. They resonate deeply with the community, representing lived experiences and achievements. “With that foundation, we launched Cherry and expanded into accessories, lifestyle items, and collaborative projects. Creativity comes from the intersection of sports, sports culture, historical moments, and thoughtful design,” she added.
Cherry designs combine architectural influences and roots with refined silhouettes and premium materials, capturing the energy of the city and the identity of the people who wear them. behind-the-scenes collaborations, lifestyle content, and cultural storytelling that resonates with a global audience.
“Our direction is rooted in thoughtful storytelling and continued innovation, from fashion collections to experiential retail and collaborative projects that connect meaningfully with our community worldwide,” Thalia said. “We are grateful for the global support and remain committed to innovation, storytelling, and creating pieces that resonate with a wide, diverse audience. In April, we are launching a new collection for all 30 Major League Baseball markets. Cherry is the only female-owned Kansas City brand licensed with Major League Baseball.”
As a joint ventures partner of eight Kansas City International retail stores, Cherry has experienced tremendous growth, expanding throughout airports across North America. The beauty of the brand is that the owner is one of our own.
“We design every piece at Cherry Co. to tell the story of legendary athletes, game changers, and cultural icons, whether that is a varsity jacket honoring a college tradition or gear celebrating sports history. We are committed to sustainable, American-made quality using eco-friendly fabrics, so our apparel is as thoughtful as it is memorable,” she shared.
