Embracing the Evolution of Style
Welcome to our Style Issue. In Dripping Springs, we may not be known for audacious fashion statements or cutting-edge trends, but that doesn’t mean we lack style. In fact, our town is a hidden gem of understated elegance and unique flair, evident the moment you step into any of the charming stores along Mercer Street and the plethora of Airbnb’s around town.
Despite being just a stone’s throw from the eclectic vibes of Austin, Drip has carved out its own distinctive style. Our town’s fashion sense is something uniquely charming, influenced by a mix of modern trends and traditional Texan charm.
I love style because it’s not a one-size-fits-all concept. It brings life to our individuality and outwardly expresses our uniqueness.
Our personal style tells a story, often transporting us back to feelings from times past. For instance, in college, my personal style consisted of 10 distinctly similar solid black going-out tops paired with jeans or skirts, all from the same store in the mall and all likely under $20. At that time, my style conveyed the essence of a broke college student-athlete who was short on time and funds but still wanted to feel fashionable and fun. Thankfully for me, my pencil-thin eyebrows, and my black-going-out-top phase, part of the beauty of style is its constant evolution.
You might disagree, but I believe there’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to personal style. The only right answer is that your style, whether in clothing or décor, makes you feel comfortable, confident, at ease, and at home.
Within the pages this month, you will find that style can be found in many unexpected places. Join us as our contributors introduce a stylish new (old) game, demonstrate the importance of style in business, reveal how to make thrifted finds chic, give a sneak peek into the upcoming Camp Lucy Spa, showcase a styledriven entrepreneurial hatmaker, and much more.
Style in Dripping Springs is more than just what we wear; it’s a testament to who we are. Let’s embrace the beauty of our community’s unique style and find inspiration in the everyday.

What people are saying about Kim.
“ “
“We feel so lucky to have worked with Kim and can’t recommend her enough! She has expert knowledge of the Texas hill country. She helped our young family find the perfect homestead. She fought for us to get the best deal and was a pleasure to work with. 10/10 we love Kim”
-Nick And Millicent A.
“Kim is the best! I’ve recommended her before and I will do it again. She made both transactions of my investment property a breeze (purchase and sale). Thank you Kim”
-Gavin G.
“We highly recommend Kim Burke. We went with her after being with another agent for 9 months with no offers. She expertly guided us through the process to stage and list our home. We received a full price offer in a very difficult market after being listed for only a few months with her. She skillfully advised us through a challenging contract negotiation and closing as well. We would highly recommend Kim to anyone looking to buy or sell a home”

INTEGRATING PERSONAL FLAIR
Embracing Eclectic Design for a Unique Home
ARTICLE BY DANYALE KEIM PHOTOGRAPHY BY ANDRA MEYER
Your home’s design serves its function, but your personal style gives it life, deepening its character in messy and interesting ways. It’s about starting conversations, showcasing collections, and embracing quirks. You may not know how to decorate conventionally, but that’s the beauty of it. Your love for unique features—like framed kids’ artwork, wallpapered ceilings, unexpected lighting, a dark-colored pantry, or a stone family room—infuses your space with personality. These elements tell your story, creating a home that’s not just lived in but loved for its imperfections and individuality. Embrace the eclectic and the imperfect. Let your home be a reflection of your unique journey.

Southwest Turkey Chili
I love this recipe because it can make many meals. High in protein and low in fat and carbohydrates, this healthy dish still has all the fall feels.
On the first night, serve the chili as soup. Then you can also make chili-stuffed baked potatoes, chili-baked fries, chili and noodles, chili scrambled eggs and hash browns, or chili-stuffed baked sweet potatoes.
Serves 4 to 6
Ingredients:
• 1 pound ground turkey
• 1 poblano chili, chopped
• 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
• 1 Texas sweet onion, diced
• 3 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 package taco seasoning
• 1 lime, juiced
• 2 cups butternut squash (optional)
• 1 can organic black beans
• 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
• 2 cups bone broth or chicken stock
• 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
• Seasoning mix: in a medium bowl, mix 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic salt, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon cumin, 1 teaspoon coriander, and 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
Directions:
In a large pot or dutch oven, heat and add olive oil. Brown the turkey. Add seasonings. Set turkey aside. With meat drippings, cook peppers and onions on medium heat. Add garlic and stir, being careful not to burn. Next, add the lime, chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, and crushed tomatoes. Bring to a boil for 30 minutes. Finally, add black beans, butternut squash, and ground turkey and simmer for one to two hours so the flavors can marry well.
Serve with bread or cornbread. You can also add toppings like diced avocado, cilantro, sour cream, crème fraîche, Greek yogurt, diced jalapeños, pickled onions, shredded cheddar, and limes. Delicious!
Eat, enjoy, and repeat. Remember to always cook with love and eat with more joy!
High in protein and low in fat and carbohydrates, this healthy dish still has all the fall feels.

WHERE ART MEETS HEALING

SARAH
SAXON, M.D.’S PASSIONATE PATH TO TRANSFORMING LIVES THROUGH FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY
Sarah Saxon, M.D.’s journey toward becoming a facial plastic surgeon began at the tender age of seven when she first started taking formal art classes. With a natural talent and an aptitude for portrait drawing, young Saxon always knew art would play a significant role in her life. This early passion laid the foundation for her future career, blending the precision of surgery with the creativity of art.
Saxon’s approach to her patients is what makes her unique. She cares deeply about each individual, their story, and their outcome. During consultations, Saxon takes the time to get to know her patients and understand their goals and aspirations. Her empathetic nature and genuine interest in her patients’ lives allow her to deliver results that help them become the best versions of themselves. This personal connection is a cornerstone of her practice, ensuring every patient feels valued and understood.
Having grown up in north Louisiana and Carthage, Texas, Saxon always cherished the close-knit atmosphere of smaller towns. After years of living in central and downtown Austin, she longed to return to her roots. During the coronavirus pandemic, Saxon began searching for a home in the Texas Hill Country, which provided the perfect setting to reconnect with the community spirit she missed. Her move to the Hill Country has allowed her to build meaningful personal and professional relationships, making it a place she proudly calls home.
Through Saxon MD, Saxon actively participates in local events and supports various initiatives, reinforcing her belief in the power of community. Whether sponsoring the Tigers football team, participating in Founder’s Day, or inviting the community to her grand opening party, Saxon is dedicated to knowing the people in Dripping Springs. Her involvement helps foster a sense of unity and support within the Dripping Springs community, solidifying her role as a local business owner and as a trusted neighbor and friend.
Saxon’s artistic eye extends beyond her surgical skills to the very aesthetic of her practice. Saxon likely would have channeled her talent into interior design if she hadn't become a surgeon. Every detail of the Saxon MD office reflects her vision of elevated and approachable sophistication.
This meticulous attention to detail ensures that the environment reflects the high standards of care that Saxon provides. It is a place where patients can feel at ease, knowing that they are in capable and caring hands.
When Saxon meets a patient for the first time, she focuses on their goals and aspirations. Her ability to create a comfortable atmosphere allows patients to open up about their insecurities. Saxon’s mission is to restore their self-confidence or, in some cases, help them find confidence for the first time. The transformative impact of her work goes beyond physical appearance; it enhances her patients’ overall quality of life, empowering them to face the world with renewed self-assurance.
At Saxon MD, the team is committed to providing white-glove, concierge-level service. Patient care is the top priority, evident in every aspect of the practice. From initial consultations to post-operative care, Saxon MD takes every step with the patient in mind. The aesthetic concierge team is always available to answer questions and provide support, ensuring a seamless experience. Saxon has curated a post-operative care box, given to all surgical patients, filled with essentials to aid recovery, demonstrating her thoughtful approach to patient well-being.
Saxon offers sage advice for those considering facial plastic surgery for the first time. “Healing takes time,” she explains. In an age dominated by digital marketing and social media, the impressive before-and-after photos often overlook the journey between the two. Saxon MD sets realistic expectations from the start. Saxon emphasizes the importance of understanding the recovery process and assures patients that the team is there to support them every step of the way. Saxon poignantly states, “Our face is the first thing people see. It’s what identifies us—what we show to the world of who we are. I get a lot of gratification from being able to give people more confidence in how they interact with others.”
Saxon’s blend of artistic talent, genuine care for her patients, and dedication to excellence makes her a standout in the field of facial plastic surgery. Her journey from a young artist to a renowned surgeon is a testament to her unwavering commitment to transforming lives and helping people achieve their true potential.
“I GET A LOT OF GRATIFICATION FROM BEING ABLE TO GIVE PEOPLE MORE CONFIDENCE IN HOW THEY INTERACT WITH OTHERS.”

Redefining Masculinity
Why Caring About Style Is Smart, Not Superficial
Many men in our society may have come across the idea that caring about style is vain or feminine. But here’s the deal: Taking time to improve your look isn’t superficial—it’s smart. It’s all about creating first impressions, boosting your confidence, and improving how you connect with others. Isn’t that worth it?
Men like us tend to put a lot of effort into various areas of our lives, from our careers and family to our brain and fitness. Why do we ignore our style? Here are a few reasons:
• Fear of Judgment: Many of us worry about what others think, especially our peers. The fear of standing out or being seen as trying too hard can keep us stuck.
• Cultural Conditioning: Society has taught men to dismiss their appearance as unimportant. We’re conditioned to focus on practicality, and somehow our appearance is not considered practical.
• Misunderstanding the Impact of Style: Some guys don’t realize how looking good can influence their relationships and career. Dressing well can change how people perceive and interact with you. There’s also a misunderstanding that “fashion” means “trendy” or “vogue,” when in reality we’re often just talking about improving normal, everyday clothing choices.
With just a bit of intentional effort applied to your wardrobe, you’ll notice:
• Boosted Confidence: When you look good, you feel good. That boost in confidence can positively affect every area of your life, including work, family, and friendships.
• Stronger First Impressions: Your appearance is the first thing people notice. A solid style can help you make a better first impression, leading to better opportunities.
• More Respect and Influence: It may sound crazy, but it’s a human tendency to respect those who present themselves well. We can choose to ignore human nature or use it to our advantage.
How to Get Started
You don’t have to begin building a Pinterest board or reading Vogue magazine to get started— just look at it like this:
1. Understand that style isn’t about being vain; it’s about sending the right signal to the world about who you are. Think about the image you want to portray and how your style can convey that.
2. Look to well-dressed individuals in your world. They likely aren’t dressing drastically different from you. Pay attention to the little differences and details that stand out.
3. Start small by experimenting with a few new pieces that aren’t too far from your usual style. Notice how you feel and adjust from there. This doesn’t have to be an awkward overhaul; just like anything else, take it one small step at a time.
Improving your style is an investment in yourself. It goes beyond clothing; it’s your way of sending the right signals about who you are. Understanding the significance of style and making small, intentional changes can really stack the deck in your favor.

Mahj Social Club Sparks a Stylish Modern Revival
PHOTOGRAPHY BY KRISTEN HAFNER
In the heart of Dripping Springs and beyond, Mahj Social Club is sparking a revival of American Mahjong—a traditional game played as early as the mid-1800s. Founded by locals Brittany Ward and Laura Lindelow almost a year ago, this passion project began with their love for a challenging game played with friends, often fellow moms.
ARTICLE BY MAHJ SOCIAL CLUB PARTNERS
What started as monthly game nights has exploded into a Mahjong-obsessed community that gathers to unwind and socialize over a hobby that’s as good for the mind as it is for the soul.
Mixing Eastern tradition with early 20th-century American vibes, American Mahjong is enjoying a major post-COVID resurgence, led by Mahj Social Club in Austin and Dripping Springs. The club offers private lessons, group play, and tournaments with a fun twist—think clinking glasses for a discarded Bird Bam and vibrant, modern tilesets. Easy to pick up but tricky to master, the game involves four players aiming to build a winning hand by drawing and discarding tiles—a stimulating mix of strategy and luck.
In early 2024, Blair Nelson jumped on board with Mahj Social Club as a partner, helping expand to Austin to meet the buzzing demand. Nelson, Ward, and Lindelow infuse Mahjong with philanthropy, offering lessons for school fundraisers and supporting organizations like CASA of Travis County, Texas Book Festival, and the Junior League of Austin. Mahj Social Club teams up with local hotspots such as Palm Social Collection and Fitzhugh Brewing to spread the joy of the game and boost local businesses.
Interested in hosting your next Mahj match? Looking to enjoy a new hobby or meet others who are Mahj-obsessed? Book a lesson or a spot at Mahj Social Club’s latest events. Whether you’re a regular player, new to the game, or simply curious about this iconic tradition, Mahj Social Club invites you to join in on the fun.

FOR THE ROMANTIC AND ADVENTURESOME
ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY ABIGAIL THOMSEN
Camp Lucy Resort of Dripping Springs is changing the game when it comes to style, design, destinations, and international exploration. It’s known as a top wedding and corporate event venue with luxurious accommodations, along with its international cuisine and style at Tillie’s Restaurant & Bar. Camp Lucy’s spa is anticipated to open in spring 2025.
Camp Lucy’s Destination Spa: Folklore
"These pieces can communicate the culture they were in, from differing economies to exuberant eras. You can feel the craftsmanship in the timber—imperfect and expressive."
We sat down with husband-and-wife owners Kim and Whit Hanks to explore the intentionality and history—from Vietnam to Texas—of Tillie’s, Camp Lucy, and the spa … and why it matters.
VIETNAM
In 2008, Whit bought a historic town hall in Vietnam and brought it back to his family’s land in Dripping Springs, which is now Camp Lucy, a Texas Wine Country resort. The legacy started with one Vietnamese Chapel, known as Ian’s Chapel, and has now expanded with an additional seven Vietnamese buildings and a property rich with history and antiques.
The attention to detail in these buildings is amazing, as yellow and blue letter markings on each piece of wood indicate which piece and side is custom designed to fit another. “Custom made to fit with themselves, the wood for each building is hand carved—no bolts, no pins, it’s so perfectly fitted,” Whit shares.
“We are attracting curious travelers,” Kim shares. “Through our travels, we open up the beauty of things that are handcrafted, create new pieces of furniture from the old, and understand the generations of families’ history and their stories,” Whit shares.
Kim explains how the pieces speak to her, beyond what meets the eye. “These pieces can communicate the culture they were in, from differing economies to exuberant eras. You can feel the craftsmanship in the timber—imperfect and expressive.”
Experimenting with textures and colors, Kim shares how she experiences the historical churches or the town halls on the property. “I feel the stories,” she says. She can’t help but imagine “the laughter and tears these walls saw in another country through births, gatherings, and deaths. It’s different; it’s the history, story, and emotion we want you to feel when you enter our spaces.”
SPA
The spa, Folklore, is going to expand the resort into wellness, and by opening an additional 13 hotel rooms on the property, it will be a 54-key resort. “Dripping Springs is now trending to become a spa destination in the corridor from Austin to Fredericksburg,” Kim says. She wants spa-goers to feel “inspired by color. I want people to feel like they’re being hugged by color. The team is listening to guests and incorporating a lot of soul into every little detail. We truly care about every detail.”
Camp Lucy is reinventing the spa experience— you’ll leave inspired to create, while feeling your absolute best. While spas can often feel clinical and segregated, Kim shares, “We’re creating a social spa experience where you can spend time together, you can talk, and you’re not being quieted.”
INTENTIONAL HISTORICAL SPACE
Why are the Hankses pouring so much into creating this space? Because it’s in their blood and in their history. Tillie’s restaurant is named after Whit’s great-grandmother, Attila “Tillie” Hancock. Her husband, Whit’s great-grandfather Lewis Hancock, was the mayor of Austin in 1910.
This land has been in the family since the late 1800s. Lewis’s father, George, was in the battle of San Jacinto. Attila was the first real estate developer in Austin. Camp Lucy is named in honor of Whit’s mother, Lucy.
Whit explains what “Camp” symbolizes to him: “As children we go to camp, meet new people, and romanticize life by having fun. We’re recreating this adolescent experience for families and adults when they come here.”
They invest in programming, such as fishing and bow and arrow, to inspire presence, learning, and connecting with nature by stimulating the senses with architecture and intentional landscaping.
"The
spa building, Folklore, has soul like many of our spaces. We didn’t want it to feel like Texas. We want it to feel authentic to what it was."
Additionally, Kim and Whit own and operate the oldest hotel in England, The Old Bell Hotel. Located about two hours outside of London, it is a perfect spot for Texans to experience another part of the world with just one direct flight. Kim and Whit continue to interconnect these spaces on different continents.
“If you make connections to other cultures, you can begin to understand humanity again, become a kid again, and pretension falls away,”
Kim says. “This project will never be done. It’s evergreen. We’ll always be putting extra love into it—it feels like another family member.” She continues, “The spa building, Folklore, has soul like many of our spaces. We didn’t want it to feel like Texas. We want it to feel authentic to what it was.” Although not everyone can travel internationally, all can visit and experience something here like nowhere else. Camp Lucy calls for the romantics and adventurers.

A cohesive brand strategy is not just about looking good— it’s about creating a consistent, memorable experience that resonates with your audience and drives business success.
In today’s digital age, a strong brand presence is crucial for business success. As a marketing and branding expert at Emily Tumis Creative (ETC), I’ve seen firsthand how a cohesive brand strategy can transform a company’s image and boost its bottom line. Let’s explore why maintaining a consistent brand across all marketing channels is essential and how you can achieve it.
Imagine calling a plumber after seeing their sleek, professional website. When they arrive, their truck is unmarked, they’re wearing a plain T-shirt instead of a uniform, and their business card has a completely different design from the website. Confusing, right? This disconnect can leave you questioning their professionalism and reliability.
The same principle applies to your entire brand presence. When your website, social media, and marketing materials tell different stories, it creates a disconnect that can leave potential customers bewildered and less likely to trust or engage with your business. A cohesive brand, on the other hand, reinforces professionalism and reliability across all touchpoints, from online interactions to in-person service.
Consistency is key. A cohesive brand strategy ensures that your company’s voice, visual identity, and core message remain uniform across all platforms. This uniformity builds trust, reinforces brand recognition, and creates a memorable experience for your audience. Whether a customer encounters your brand on Instagram, your website, or a print ad, they should instantly recognize and connect with your unique identity.
So, how can you achieve this seamless brand experience? Start with your website; it’s often the first point of contact for potential customers. Ensure that your site’s design, color scheme, and messaging align with your brand’s core values and aesthetic. Your logo, fonts, and imagery should be consistent and reflect your brand’s personality.
Next, extend this cohesive look to your social media profiles. Each platform has its unique features, but your brand’s essence should shine through consistently. Use similar color palettes, maintain a consistent tone of voice in your posts, and ensure your profile pictures and cover images align with your overall brand identity.
Don’t forget about your marketing materials and advertisements. Whether it’s a digital ad, a brochure, or a business card, these touchpoints should be instantly recognizable as part of your brand family. Consistent use of your logo, tagline, and brand colors across all materials reinforces your identity and makes your marketing efforts more effective.
Remember, cohesive branding goes beyond aesthetics. It’s about creating a unified customer experience. Ensure that your brand’s values and messaging are consistent in all customer interactions, from social media responses to email marketing campaigns.
Investing in a cohesive brand strategy may seem daunting, but the benefits are substantial. A unified brand presence can lead to increased customer loyalty, improved brand recall, and ultimately, business growth. It sets you apart in a crowded marketplace and gives customers a clear reason to choose you over competitors.
At ETC, we specialize in helping businesses create and maintain this cohesive brand presence across all digital platforms. By aligning your marketing efforts, we can help elevate your brand and create a powerful, lasting impression on your target audience.
A cohesive brand strategy is not just about looking good—it’s about creating a consistent, memorable experience that resonates with your audience and drives business success. Take a critical look at your brand’s presence across all platforms. Is it telling a unified story? If not, it might be time to realign your branding efforts and create a more cohesive, impactful brand presence.

Keeping an Eye on Health and Aesthetics: David Gay, M.D., Opens New Practice in Dripping Springs
ARTICLE BY ASHLEY GAY | PHOTOGRAPHY BY ABIGAIL THOMSEN
It was well after dark on July 14 when David Gay, M.D. and his wife, Ashley, drove away from the Sawyer Ranch Medical Tower with butterflies in their stomachs. Texas Eye Aesthetics, David’s new practice, was set to open at 8 a.m. the next day. After months of meticulous planning, it was finally “go time.”
“I couldn’t imagine a better place to open a practice,” David replied when asked why he chose Dripping Springs after six years in Austin. “The people here are incredibly kind and welcoming. Dripping Springs aligns perfectly with our values and the kind of practice we want to build.”
David is an oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. While the term may sound complicated, David explains it simply: He’s a plastic surgeon for the eyes and face. “I am a board-certified ophthalmologist,” he says, “but I don’t operate directly in the eye. I take care of all the structures around and behind the eye.”
With over 20 years in branding and marketing, Ashley has played a crucial role in setting up the practice. “I’ve been working in this field through medical school, residency, and fellowship,” she shares. After 19 years of marriage, raising two boys, and navigating the rigors of medical training, they felt this was the natural next step. “We’ve lived in Utah, Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, and finally decided to make Texas home,” Ashley explains.
The journey to becoming a highly specialized surgeon is a long one: four years of medical school, an intern year, three years of ophthalmology residency, and a two-year fellowship in oculofacial plastics. “After all those years of medical training, I feel uniquely qualified to market Dave and his skills,” Ashley smirks. “I also benefited from some of the lasers and skincare.”
David’s interest in medicine started early. “When I was eight, I got my first pair of glasses. The same pair that every kid in the ’80s wore,” he says. “It was then I wanted to be able to do surgery to fix eyes so no other kid had to wear glasses again.”
While David didn’t eliminate glasses, his path led him to oculofacial plastic surgery. “I love the variety,” he says. “In a single day, I can operate on eyelids, complete a cancer reconstruction, drain a stye, inject Botox, and perform a laser treatment. It’s never the same day twice.”
Ashley notes that David doesn’t even like watching the same movie twice. “In medical school, he considered various specialties,” she says. “I think he chose the right one.”
David’s practice offers both medical and cosmetic surgeries. “As we age, our eyelid skin changes due to gravity, genetics, and lifestyle factors,” he explains. “This not only ages one’s appearance but can also impair vision, affecting quality of life.”
When asked what surprises people most about eye care, David notes that, according to studies, approximately 5 to 10 percent of all skin cancers occur on the eyelid. “People do not think to protect their eyelids from the sun,” he shares. “I see a lot of eyelid cancer, especially in Texas.”
“In a single day, I can operate on eyelids, complete a cancer reconstruction, drain a stye, inject Botox, and perform a laser treatment. It’s never the same day twice.”
Both David and Ashley emphasize the importance of UV protection. “Wearing UV-blocking sunglasses is my secret to fighting wrinkles around the eyes and preventing skin cancer,” Ashley remarks.
David concludes, “Whether the surgery is initiated due to medical or cosmetic reasons doesn’t change how I approach it. Every surgery I perform, I aim for the most aesthetically pleasing outcome. This is why the word ‘aesthetics’ is part of our practice name.”

Creativity Hats off to
THE INSPIRING JOURNEY OF WEST HILL HAT COLLECTION
It all started when Brittany Paytas found herself at a Garth Brooks concert without a proper cowboy hat.
Disappointed by the price tags at boutique hat shops, Paytas began using carpool downtime to create her own hats for herself, friends, and family. She noticed, “Everybody’s loving these; why not give it a shot?” So, with a desire to offer high-quality, personalized hats at a more affordable price, West Hill Hat Collection was born in the elementary school pick-up line.
Each West Hill hat is one of a kind. Customers can choose from men’s and women’s 100-percent wool hats in various colors and styles—from the traditional cattleman hat to trendy fedoras—and then add flair with an array of bands and cords, ribbons, feathers, dried floral, playing cards, pins, branding, and more. Combining different textures, patterns, and colors, Paytas helps customers tailor their hats to fit their personality. “I want them to put it on and feel amazing,” she says. “I want them to fall in love with their unique style.”
West Hill goes beyond buying a beautiful hat; it’s also about enjoying the creative process. “I want them to have fun while creating it,” Paytas says. You can design your own hat at West Hill’s virtual hat bar or customize a pre-styled hat. West Hill also hosts in-person hat bars that make special occasions—from bachelorette weekends and birthday celebrations to fundraisers and conferences—even more memorable. Paytas shares, “It’s not just a hat; it’s an experience.”

The Club’s annual Beer by the Bay Festival is a members’ favorite, with live country music, beer tastings, and a spectacular all-you-can-eat menu.
Kids will love the rock wall and two-story jungle gym in Jungle Kids Club. Or they can attend a camp to learn wakeboarding, tennis, pickleball, or golf. The Club also features five resort-style pools, including the unique waterfront floating pool—an engineering marvel, it’s the only floating pool in North America!
Prefer activities the whole family can do together? Putting Under the Lights at the Whitewater Putting Course is a glow-in-thedark adventure. Or try the Splash Safari Aqua Park, a floating obstacle course on Lake LBJ. Make a day of it and rent a boat at the marina, or head down to Stargazer Beach or Turtle Beach. Cap it all off at one of the many dining experiences The Club has to offer, from elegant seafood dishes to mouth-watering barbecue featuring lakefront and Hill Country views.
Whether it’s a day trip or you opt to staycation in one of the four different accommodation options (a luxury hotel, villas, private homes, and lakeside condos), The Club promises the perfect fit for you and your family to make new traditions and memories to last a lifetime.

STYLE SAVVY, PLANET FRIENDLY
The Ultimate Guide to Chic Secondhand Finds with Living with Leah
What if I told you that you could have a well-decorated home and a stylish wardrobe for a fraction of today's retail pricing? What if I also told you that you could help save the planet in the process? Both are possible.
When I was a broke college student, I still wanted to look and live fabulously, so I started shopping second-hand out of necessity. My best friend and I would scour thrift stores and flea markets and even pick up discarded furniture off the side of the road to repurpose. Years later, I still prefer shopping second-hand over buying new. Part of it is the thrill of the hunt, of course, but as I’ve gotten older, a larger purpose has emerged: contributing to a healthier planet.
Did you know that currently there is enough clothing on Earth to clothe the next six generations? Most of these garments end up in landfills thanks to the surge in cheap, trend-driven clothing retailers, known as “fast fashion.” The same is happening in the furniture industry. As furniture prices continue to rise, consumers have turned to more cost-efficient retailers that use cheaper materials to produce furniture more quickly and inexpensively.
As a result, those pieces don’t last very long. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Americans threw away 12 million tons of furnishings and home decor last year alone.
Not only is most of the furniture and clothing sold at second-hand stores of better quality than the products being mass produced today, it’s also an affordable way to find unique pieces to elevate your own personal sense of style. New to shopping second-hand? Here are some of my favorite tips to get you started:
1. Go Often: Second-hand stores get new inventory every day. It pays to go often because when good pieces come in, they don’t last long.
2. Alterations: If you find the perfect skirt for $3 but the waist needs to be taken in just a bit, take it to a tailor. Even with the price of most alterations, your second-hand find will still be less expensive than paying retail. What is more, you now have a custom piece made to fit you perfectly.
3. Shop Off Season: People usually clean out their closets when the seasons change. In the spring, you can expect people to be offloading sweaters and jackets to make room for a new summer wardrobe.
That is the perfect time to pick up cashmere sweaters and fabulous coats. And right after the holidays is the best time to shop for holiday decorations for a fraction of the price.
4. Shop in Upscale Neighborhoods: Hit up thrift stores, garage sales, and estate sales in the nicest parts of your city. This is where you are likely to find the best quality furnishings, home decor, and brand-name clothing.
5. Shop Second-Hand Online: These days there are amazing second-hand retailers online. Etsy, Ebay and Facebook Marketplace are my favorite sites for quality furnishings and even high-end designer pieces.
6. Overwhelmed? Start With A Staple: Does the thought of shifting through a sea of used clothing feel overwhelming? Start by looking for a wardrobe staple like a great oversized blazer or a crisp, white button-down top. When it comes to home decor, I like to start by looking in the basket section. Baskets are a chic way to organize the clutter in your home, and most second-hand stores sell them for a few dollars. Once you stumble upon that first find, you will be motivated to keep going!
