On your healthcare journey, the road to recovery starts in the same place.

Around the corner.

Welcome to the Love Local Issue!

As February arrives, it brings more than heart-shaped décor and the familiar buzz of Valentine’s Day—it offers a chance to celebrate the joy, charm, and connection that this season naturally inspires. And if traditional romance isn’t your thing, there’s still so much to love about this month: celebrating the people who ground us, embracing our community, and making space for the self-love we so often put aside.

Each of us will find our own ways to mark the occa sion, shaped by our unique preferences and personalities. But what unites us all is the opportunity to remind those around us just how much they mean to us.

This month’s issue is dedicated to helping you do just that—showcasing only some of what’s to love in our local community.

At Denville City Lifestyle, we're officially celebrating our 1 year anniversary as a publication and want to thank you all, our readers, for the support you have shown over the past year. We also want to take a moment to thank all of our partners and welcome our newest partners: Barks Bed & Biscuit and Merry Maids of Morris County. We have so much to celebrate and look forward to more to come.

“Love local” isn’t just about supporting the businesses in your area—it’s about cherishing what’s near to you in every sense. So, why not grab a cup of Lake Born Coffee from Indian Lake Bistro and enjoy trivia night at Diamond Spring Brewery? Or stop in at Suppa's or Gourmet Cafe for a relaxing date night? There are so many opportunities to support local.

At Denville City Lifestyle, our mission has always been to celebrate connection, both within our community and beyond. We love hearing from our readers and discovering the stories that make Denville so special. If you have a story to share, a milestone to celebrate, or a business you’d like to introduce, we’d love to hear from you. Send us your photos and details—you might just see them featured in an upcoming issue.

From Within LOOKING GOOD STARTS

Mana Wellness & Aesthetics blends personalized care and aesthetics for full-body transformation.

The future of healthcare is now, and a renewed focus on prevention is paving the way.

At the center of that shift are Marc Musni and Oscar Munoz, two pedigreed nurse practitioners, who combined their expertise and passion to create Mana Wellness and Aesthetics in Denville—a multimodality, patient-first clinic rooted in progressive care.

“Patients are not a set of numbers here,” Musni explained. “We actually spend time with the patient and provide individualized, customized care.”

While their subspecialties differ—anesthesia for Munoz, critical care for Musni—their mission is the same: to provide evidence-based, individualized, patient-forward care. The pair originally met while working at the same hospital and recognized they shared a unified philosophy on delivering personalized healthcare. That shared vision ultimately led them into business together.

Mana Wellness & Aesthetics opened its doors a year and a half ago with the intention of putting the patient in the driver’s seat, implementing cutting-edge modalities to address not only symptoms but the body as a whole. Their services span the full spectrum of preventative and aesthetic medicine, offering treatments designed to reset, enhance, and optimize the body —including aesthetic services focused on facial rejuvenation.

Some of their state-of-the-art diagnostics include a 3-D body scan and metabolic testing that analyzes oxygen intake and carbon dioxide output through indirect calorimetry. They also utilize a 3-D facial analyzer called Aura, which—unlike surface-level assessments—uses advanced imaging technology to analyze

hydration, pigmentation, pore size, fine lines, and UV damage beneath the skin’s surface.

Through rigorous testing, the team is able to gauge hormonal balance and cellular function, using NAD (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) to support and boost cellular energy performance.

On the hormonal front, they offer HRT (hormone replacement therapy) and TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) to recalibrate hormonal levels in both women and men.

“Every treatment, whether it be an infusion or a full-blown hormonal support regimen, is tailored to the patient’s individual needs,” Musni explained.

Another cornerstone of the practice is their comprehensive medical weight loss program, utilizing more than just medications, supplements, or peptides to help patients reach their goals. These modalities are paired with proper diagnostic tools and collaboration with outside consultants, including nutritionists, physical therapists, and fitness trainers, to help patients achieve results more efficiently.

Peptides continue to rise in popularity—and for good reason.

In simple terms, peptides are chains of amino acids that signal the body to repair and regenerate. These therapies can boost metabolism, improve skin, hair, and nails, balance hormones, reduce muscle recovery time, and more.

Beyond their treatments, Musni and Munoz reflect on a growing distrust in traditional healthcare and the profit-driven insurance protocols that prioritize volume over individuality.

“Doctors may test, for example, testosterone levels in a range from 300–900,” Musni explained. “If the results are 301,

which is still low, the insurance company may not allow the doctor to prescribe TRT and the patient is still symptomatic.”

The restraints insurance companies place on treatment protocols are exactly why the practice opts out of participating with network-based providers. Instead, they operate as an out-of-network practice, similar to boutique or concierge healthcare models.

“With the guardrails down, this allows us to practice with greater freedom,” Munoz said. “Health care is never one-size fits all.”

While preventative medicine remains the foundation, Mana is also leading the way in aesthetics.

“Once the patient feels good inside, they transition into aesthetics,” Munoz added. “Botox is the entry level into that.”

He also shed positive light on fillers, dismissing the social media buzz surrounding celebrities and botched procedures.

The clinic boasts a diagnostic aura scan that provides a 3D topographical map of the face to identify areas that could aesthetically benefit from treatment.

In addition to botox and fillers, the center offers facials and peels provided by an in-house aesthetician, Ashley, as well as an on-site nutritionist and a range of other services, including hair restoration.

“We actually spend time with the patient and provide individualized, customized care.”

Treatment modalities aside, patient accountability is a top priority, followed by the necessary lifestyle changes required to produce lasting results.

“Seventy percent of the work is what you do,” Munoz said. “Eating and sleeping well, movement—how many steps are you taking? Family dynamic. These all affect outcomes.”

In their downtime, Musni and Munoz are all in on family and fitness. It’s a balance that mirrors the philosophy behind Mana—wellness rooted not just in treatment, but in how you live, move, and show up for the people who matter. As they continue expanding their offerings and their footprint, their commitment remains the same: empowering every patient to take control of their health, inside and out.

Mana Wellness & Aesthetics is located at 3125 NJ-10 Suite 2B in Denville.

Renowned cardiologist Dr. Guarneri offers trusted expertise to guide informed heart-health choices for all.

THIS FEBRUARY, KNOW YOUR HEART

February marks American Heart Month—a time dedicated to raising awareness around cardiovascular health and empowering individuals to take proactive steps toward long-term wellness. To guide this important conversation, we turned to one of the nation’s most respected voices in cardiology and integrative medicine: Dr. Mimi Guarneri . Board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Internal Medicine, and Integrative Holistic Medicine, Dr. Guarneri serves as President of the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM).

After years as an interventional cardiologist, she went on to pioneer the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine and later co-founded Guarneri Integrative Health, Inc. at Pacific Pearl La Jolla, where she continues her work in advancing a comprehensive, lifestyle-centered approach to heart health and serves as Medical Director to a team of experts in Conventional, Integrative, and Natural Medicine.

Drawing on decades of expertise, Dr. Guarneri offers clear guidance on the early signs of heart disease, the tests that matter most, and the simple daily habits that make a measurable difference.

WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON EARLY WARNING SIGNS OF HEART DISEASE THAT PEOPLE TEND TO OVERLOOK?

The first sign of heart disease may be subtle, like the onset of shortness of breath on exertion or chest tightness. Some individuals may experience tightness or pressure in their neck, arm, or throat. Others may experience indigestion or fatigue.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD ADULTS GET THEIR HEART HEALTH SCREENED, AND WHAT TESTS ARE MOST IMPORTANT?

Everyone should know the basics: your blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol. Everyone should have routine labs by age 40 to check for risk. Women who developed diabetes or high blood pressure during pregnancy are at a particularly high risk. It’s also

“You are more than your genes. Family history is very important, but it is not your destiny. Even if you have high risk genes, lifestyle changes can lower the risk by up to 50%.”

ideal to have a genetic test called Lp(a), since high levels are linked to an increased risk of heart disease.

WHAT LIFESTYLE CHANGES HAVE THE BIGGEST IMPACT ON REDUCING THE RISK OF HEART DISEASE?

Research shows that smoking cessation, maintaining an ideal body weight, exercise, and eating a high-fiber Mediterranean diet decrease the risk of heart disease. Meditation has also been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events by up to 48%.

HOW MUCH DOES FAMILY HISTORY PLAY A ROLE, AND WHAT SHOULD SOMEONE DO IF HEART DISEASE RUNS IN THEIR FAMILY?

You are more than your genes. Family history is very important, but it is not your destiny. Even if you have high-risk genes, lifestyle changes can lower the risk by up to 50%.

WHAT ARE SOME HEART-HEALTHY FOODS PEOPLE SHOULD INCORPORATE INTO THEIR DAILY ROUTINE?

Fiber in all its forms. Green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and legumes are excellent foods for the heart. Good fats, such as avocado and olive oil, should be used in small amounts. Eliminate sugar, fruit juice, soda, and excess alcohol. Remember that all white products such as bread, potatoes, rice, cookies, and candy turn into sugar, and avoid excess high-sugar fruits.

HOW MUCH EXERCISE IS RECOMMENDED FOR MAINTAINING GOOD HEART HEALTH, AND DOES THE TYPE OF EXERCISE MATTER?

Exercise lowers blood pressure, triglycerides, and blood sugar. It’s important to try to bring some exercise into your life every day. This should include aerobic exercise like walking and biking, as well as strength training. Dance is a wonderful form of exercise, as is swimming. Remember to stretch and check with your doctor if exercise is safe for you.

CAN STRESS REALLY AFFECT THE HEART, AND WHAT ARE SOME EFFECTIVE WAYS TO MANAGE STRESS FOR CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH?

Stress is a risk factor for heart disease. It increases blood pressure, can trigger heart arrhythmias, and raises blood sugar. Stress can even cause the vessels of the heart to constrict and decrease blood flow, leading to discomfort called angina.

WHAT ARE THE KEY NUMBERS EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW — LIKE BLOOD PRESSURE, CHOLESTEROL, AND BLOOD SUGAR — AND WHY DO THEY MATTER?

Basic tests should include blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, HbA1c (three-month blood sugar), and cholesterol. Because inflammation contributes to heart disease, hsCRP should also be checked. Additional testing may include evaluating nutrient levels and screening for heavy metals, which can further inform risk and treatment.

IS THERE ANYTHING ABOUT HEART DISEASE YOU WISH PEOPLE UNDERSTOOD BETTER?

Heart disease is the number one cause of morbidity in both men and women. It is, however, preventable through lifestyle change, supplements, and medication.

WHAT SMALL, REALISTIC HABITS CAN SOMEONE START TODAY TO SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE THEIR HEART HEALTH OVER TIME?

Know your numbers and make daily physical activity a priority. Aim to reduce added sugar, and fill your plate with whole grains, fiber-rich foods, and leafy greens. Eat the colors of the rainbow. If you include animal products, choose lean options like sardines, wild salmon, and organic poultry.

Don’t stress the small things—stress strains the heart. Find joy, connect with loved ones, get involved in your community, and above all, remember to laugh.

Behind each of our 200+ City Lifestyle magazines is someone who cares deeply about their community. Someone who connects people, celebrates businesses, and shares the stories that matter most. What if that someone was you? Or maybe it’s someone you know. If this isn’t the right time for you, but you know someone who could be the perfect fit, we’d love an introduction.

WHERE WELLNESS WELCOMES YOU

THE NATURAL CARE HOLISTIC HEALTH CENTER OFFERS PERSONALIZED SUPPORT FOR WHOLE-BODY CARE.

In Denville, one wellness center stands out for a simple reason: it’s run with the heart of a family caring for its own.

In true like-mother, like-daughter fashion, the Natural Care Holistic Health Center in Denville offers holistic, hands-on services to promote natural healing and wellness. Meet owners Tiffany Cuello Siegel and her mother, Mariana Cuello.

As founders of the center, they combine naturopathic and functional medicine to support patients in achieving optimal, long-term health.

“At our practice, patients are treated like family, with thoughtful and compassionate care,” Tiffany shared.

Both Tiffany and Mariana’s work is guided by the gut-brain connection and the body’s remarkable ability to heal itself.

Though they collaborate daily, they each bring their own specialty to the practice. Mariana is a naturopathic doctor, colon hydrotherapist, and licensed massage therapist, while Tiffany is a functional nurse practitioner and board-certified colon hydrotherapist.

So, how did this nurse practitioner, colon hydrotherapist, and first-time mom go into business with her own mother?

A Dominican Republic native, Mariana grew up with natural and organic remedies as a way of life. Passing those generational healing traditions to her daughter felt instinctive—and now Tiffany continues that legacy with her own patients.

The practice embraces a whole-body approach rather than addressing symptoms in isolation, with particular emphasis on gut health and overall wellness.

One service they specialize in is colon hydrotherapy (colonic), a safe and effective method of removing toxic waste from the colon without the use of drugs or laxatives.

The center’s philosophy is deeply restorative, centering on bringing the body back into balance. Personalization is also front and center, as each patient is individually assessed and receives a treatment plan tailored to their needs.

Treatment is often based on testing such as blood work, which can reveal imbalances in hormones, vitamins, minerals, and more.

An imbalance of nutrients or hormones can contribute to sluggishness or chronic fatigue, which is why a vitamin panel is often the next step—sometimes leading to a recommendation for IV vitamin therapy. Other instances may call for an immunity-boost infusion consisting of portioned-out ratios of Vitamin C and Zinc.

“It’s a personalized cocktail,” Tiffany explained.

The immune system and detoxification are central tenets that embody a more holistic approach.

In addition to colon hydrotherapy and IV infusions, the center also provides vitamin supplementation and non-GLP-1 weight-loss injections.

“We want to empower you with health,” she said. “The body is a temple and you have to take care of it.”

Currently, the patient base at the Natural Care Holistic Health Center is nearly balanced, with a 60-to-40 ratio of women to men.

“Anyone who has a colon, we’ll treat,” Tiffany joked. There is a clear commitment to meeting patients where they are and supporting lasting change.

“While holistic modalities produce results, lifestyle changes to accompany them are paramount,” she added.

This includes intentional shifts in diet, regular movement, and time outdoors.

“It’s really a contract in investing into yourself.”

As a mother to an 8-month-old daughter, she stays just as active outside the office, also balancing her work as a nursing professor with family life and fitness.

At its core, Natural Care Holistic Health Center is built on a simple belief: caring for your body is one of the greatest acts of love you can offer yourself. Guided by that philosophy, Tiffany and Mariana help patients embrace wellness as an ongoing relationship—one strengthened through awareness, consistency, and genuine self-care.

They continue to carry forward a legacy of compassion, education, and generational wisdom, encouraging individuals to treat their bodies with the same tenderness they offer to those they love most.

Natural Care Holistic Health Center is located at 35 West Main Street in Denville.

NATURAL CARE HOLISTIC HEALTH CENTER

Rooted in a whole-body, patientfirst approach, Natural Care Holistic Health Center blends naturopathic and functional medicine to support long-term wellness. Led by a mother-daughter team, the Denville-based practice focuses on personalized care, gut health, and restorative therapies designed to help patients feel balanced, energized, and empowered in their health journey.

VALENTINE’S DAY CHEESECAKE

ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY CASSIE SUPPES

Valentine’s Day is all about showing your loved one just how much you care. Rather than opting for the predictable chocolates and flowers, why not showcase your culinary prowess and create a one-of-a-kind cheesecake? Not only will this delectable treat demonstrate your affection, but it will also add a personal and luxurious touch

to the holiday celebration. Make this Valentine’s Day truly memorable by going above and beyond with a heartfelt, homemade gift. Cheesecake is the perfect dessert for two because it’s both rich and indulgent, but not too heavy. Plus, it can be easily customized to fit your own personal taste and it’s much easier than you think!

TO MAKE THE PERFECT CHEESECAKE,

• 1 pound cream cheese, softened

• 1 cup sugar

• 3 eggs

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together the cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract. Next, add in the sour cream and heavy cream and mix until everything is well combined. Pour the mixture into the prepared graham cracker crust and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the cheesecake is set. Let cool completely before serving.

For this recipe, we decided to add berries and honey to the top of our cheesecake. Take the time to make yours special to your relationship. With toppings such as chocolate, jelly, whip cream, berries, fruit, or whatever your partner’s favorite is you’re sure to make them smile. Make things colorful by adding food coloring to the mix, it can even be made in their

YOU’LL NEED:

• 1/2 cup sour cream

• 1/2 cup heavy cream

• 1 prepared graham cracker crust

favorite color. You can also change things up by making your own crust with Oreos or cinnamon crackers.

To elevate this recipe to the next level, consider using high-quality ingredients such as grass-fed cream cheese and locally sourced honey. For added luxury, try using a blend of different types of berries, or even substituting the graham cracker crust with a crust made of crushed pistachios or hazelnuts.

In addition to adding a variety of toppings, you can also get creative with the presentation. For example, try using a springform pan to create a heart-shaped cheesecake, or using cookie cutters to create fun shapes out of the cheesecake slices. You can also garnish the cheesecake with edible flowers or a sprinkle of edible gold dust for a truly indulgent experience.
