I hope this letter finds you in high spirits and full of creative energy.

Today, I want to take a moment to celebrate and explore the fascinating world of style. Style is not limited to the clothes we wear or the way we adorn ourselves; it encompasses every aspect of our lives. From the way we decorate our homes to the music we listen to, from the books we read to the way we carry ourselves in conversations, style permeates every facet of our existence. It is the thread that weaves together the tapestry of our lives.
Style is deeply personal. And it evolves as we celebrate our quirks, our passions, and our desires. Style is a form of self-expression that communicates who we are, how we perceive the world and what we value. In this way, style becomes a powerful tool for connection, as it enables us to find common ground with others who share our aesthetic sensibilities.
As individuals, we have the freedom to embrace established styles, blend them together, or forge entirely new paths, becoming trendsetters ourselves. We hope this issue inspires you to forge new paths or perhaps explore familiar ones. There is so much here in Bozeman to uplift our spirits, boost your productivity and ignite your creativity.
What I’ve found is that the best style is an authentic expression of who you really are. And that’s something no one on earth can duplicate.
Here’s to being uniquely you!
Cheers,

Proverbs 3:5-6

Curating a design plan is more than just copying a Pinterest or Instagram photo. It involves real people, their lifestyle, their expectations and their point of view. Unique personalities are reflected by lifestyle choices; design can mirror that. Curation accounts for all the nuances of life to provide space for experiencing while expanding the opportunities for growth and change. Design is not static - it flows.
The Nature of Bozeman is also how I feel about its reflection through design and architecture. For whom are we designing? What do our clients want to experience in that space that we help them create?
Curated Design is about giving more that expected, surprising the senses, and exceeding expectations. It is a personal experience.

THE STORIED PRODUCER AND THEATRICAL DIRECTOR SELECTS HER FAVORITE THINGS
One of my favorite things is being in the garden. Last year I took a winter long workshop on Permaculture with Broken Ground. I now have eight raised beds, level beds and a food forest and am growing vegetables, fruit and flowers.

One of my favorite things is coming up with strategies on how to honor Earth. I love to recycle, compost and find better ways to use water. Happy Trash is my recycling go to and Eco Montana for compostable products.

I learned how to play pickleball with Gallatin Valley Newcomers Club. It's great to be involved with a club that provides social, philanthropic, cultural, and recreational community-oriented opportunities for members which also produces fundraising events that benefit local nonprofits.
Since childhood, one of my favorite things is wading in a river and dancing. Fly fishing is a combination of both for me. It is also fantastic how many organizations in Bozeman are working to keep our rivers and streams clean.

Since 1995 I have been directing Bending Towards the Light...A Jazz Nativity in cities around the country. In 2023 I produced and directed the premiere of this fantastic event in Bozeman. One of my favorite things is hearing people say “seeing this show is such a wonderful gift.”

Braids to Keep You Chic All Year Long
Braids are a great way to add style and uniqueness to your hair style rotation and have been a staple in hair styles dating back to the 3500 B.C. This historical hairstyle is here to stay, so we wanted to share some go-to impressive looks.

Part hair down the center. Create pull-through braids on each side of the head. Tie elastic at the end of the braids to create a ponytail at the nape of the neck. For extra volume in the buns, tease the hair in the ponytail before twisting it into a bun. Secure with hair pins and... Voilà!

Place a bandana on the forehead and tie it in the back. Create as many braids as desired in the back of the head, teasing the ends to avoid using elastics.

Part the top half of the hair in two sections. Create fishtail braids (or braids of choice) and tie them together in the back of the hair. Add a fashion accessory around a ponytail for a little extra fun!

CELEBRATING BOZEMAN'S PREEMINENT ACCESSORY DESIGNERS AND BREAKTHROUGH ARTISANS

In a world where mass production often overshadows individual expression, Kricia Storms found her calling in offering a unique approach to hat making where she learned learned the intricate art of hat making in Florence, Italy before returning to Bozeman. Unlike traditional retail models, Bang Bang provides semi-custom hat experiences, allowing individuals to choose their hat’s color and shape. Each hat is then meticulously shaped and embellished during a 2-hour appointment to reflect the wearer’s unique personality and style. Handmade from premium European hare and beaver felts, these hats are designed to be lived in, empowering wearers to feel bold and confident. For those seeking an even more personalized touch, they offer made-to-measure and virtual experiences, crafting hats that are molded precisely to the individual’s head. To maintain the quality and intimacy of the hat-making experience, Bang Bang operates by appointment only. However, the studio occasionally opens on weekends for walk-ins and those looking to purchase hat accessories. Their Fall Collection will be launching this month and will introduce fresh colors to the in-person hat experience and expand into more styles for men, ensuring that there’s a perfect hat for everyone.
“Bang Bang isn’t just a hat shop; it’s a place where stories are crafted, and individuality is celebrated.”

A self-taught moccasin maker based in Bozeman, Shauna White Bear embarked on her moccasin-making journey at the historic Carter’s Boot location downtown in 2018. As an enrolled member of the MHA Nation, with Hidatsa ancestry—a sister tribe to the Appsáalooke, also known as the Crow—her lineage’s moccasins echo softly through the region. White Bear blends modern style with traditional finesse, crafting moccasins for all walks of life. Her choice of Bison leather as the primary medium stems from its exceptional durability, being three times stronger than cowhide. The bison, vital to the plains people historically and culturally, holds significance that should resonate with all of North America’s inhabitants. While bison leather remains her staple, she also employs elk and deerskin when available. White Bear Moccasins distinguishes itself as an Indigenous-owned company, with each pair meticulously hand-stitched by Indigenous college students representing various Montana tribes. The White Bear team comprises individual artists, with a commitment to passing down leatherworking skills to future generations and sourcing materials locally whenever feasible. Shauna’s innovative artistic vision shines through in her use of diverse materials like wool, elk ivories, brass spots, seed beads, antler toggles, and animal pelts.

Every woman dreams of an organized and beautiful closet space, but it often comes last on the list of places that get their time and attention. Follow our nine tips for transforming and elevating your closet. How you organize your closet will of course differ based on the size of your space, the size of your wardrobe, and the kind of life you lead. But applying these guidelines will result in a much more organized and aesthetically pleasing space.
It may seem silly, but when dealing with a small space, little things count. Hanging all clothes the same direction is a no-brainer for continuity in your closet.

Reserve the front and middle of the closet for clothes worn most often. For someone who gets dressed for work each morning at 6 a.m., work clothes should be at the front of the closet. Store lesser-worn items like formal wear and out-of-season clothes toward the back and on the upper shelves. A large mirror and counter with chair provides the perfect spot to select jewelry and finalize finishing outfit touches. While every closet is different, the key here is everything has a home.
Using space efficiently is important, but keep in mind every good design includes some negative space. For instance, consider adding built-ins on the long wall of your closet but keep the short wall open with a mirror.
Hidden storage is a game changer in keeping a closet visually clean. Tuck folded clothes behind closed cabinet doors if the space is multipurpose. The floor-toceiling built-ins in Keri’s closet contain folded clothes, athleisure and other items she needs as she gets ready each day. Tuck away the least-used items: Use hidden storage and the very top of the closet for out-of-season items and stuff only worn a few times a year.
Group clothes by kind first and color second. This ensures quick location of that favorite shirt when it’s needed. Bonus - it’s easy on the eye. Group like with like: Gather belts, sweaters, long-sleeve shirts, work pants, dresses, button-down shirts, jeans, shorts, etc., and decide the best place to store each item as a group (e.g., hang pants in the closet, fold and stack sweaters in a bureau). Working with groupings will help you figure out how much space you need and the best way to store each type of item.
The simplest and fastest way to make a BIG difference in your closet organization is to get matching hangers that go beyond the traditional plastic or wire hangers. And for sure ditch any with paper from the dry cleaner!
Alternate the way shoes are facing. This ultimately helps fit more on each row and provide a visually appealing way to display those prized possessions.
Everyone understands the frustration of searching for that one clutch when rushing out for the evening. Bags benefit from a space all their own. Get clear container storage for small bags and purses so you can locate and access them easily.
Why use an armchair when you have room for a sofa? Slide up a stool and colorful area rug to complete the look. If you have excessive wall space, consider a mini gallery wall or a statement wall with wallpaper to polish things off.
