The Jack and Jill Day Celebration and Carole Robertson Ceremony is a national celebration of Jack and Jill every September as established in 1948 under the direction of Dorothy Wright – our first National President – to focus on the family. Mothers, fathers, teens, and children from Groups 1 through Group 5 enjoy this event.
Group 2 children will each state a line about rainbows ("rainbows are beautiful"; "rainbows represent God's covenant
. Thrusts: educational, recreational, and social
Because they live and breathe. Because they share the same emotions humans possess. They live with us, among us and for us. There are more of them than there are of us and we share the planet with them. The activity is designed not only for Jacks and Jills to have fun learning about their favorite animals but also to build interest and compassion towards animals in which we share our planet.
Children will develop an understanding of animal behavior and how humans depend on animals
Thrust: educational, recreational, and social
Our Jack and Jills will have a blast completing interactive STEM activities using creative experiments and projects that can teach real scientific principles in a fun environment. These hand-on activities are both entertaining and educational and will inspire our kids to further discover and explore their passion for science, technology, engineering and math! Jack and Jills will learn about robots, programming, and software technology. Thrusts: educational,
recreational, and
social thrusts with a focus in STEAM. Jacks and Jills will fellowship with peers during the holiday season while being creative in this community service activity of designing holiday cards for nursing homes. Jack and Jills will then share those cards with a member of the nursing home. This activity is not only an act of Community Service, but it will teach our kids about giving and sharing.

Jacks and Jills will experience an ice-skating class by our group 2 cochair at downtown Detroit's outdoor ice-skating rink. This seasonal activity will introduce Jacks and Jills to conditioning their bodies for cold weather sports and ice rink safety. In addition, our children will participate in the chapter wide event for community service with a focus the civic/legislative thrusts that will teach Jacks and Jills the importance of black history and what AfricanAmerica leaders contributed to the world. Children will have magazines to use while partnering with their parents to make a small poster collage. Thrusts: Civic and

Jacks and Jills will engage in a hands-on financial activity. This activity will provide the Jacks and Jills a fun and exciting way to understand money and how to use it responsibly. Areas of focus will be budgeting, career salary analysis while using real life examples. Thrusts: educational

Step Afrika! introduces audiences to the importance of stepping in cultural identity and the use of body percussion as a means of communication. The company blends percussive dance styles practiced by historically African American fraternities and sororities, traditional West and Southern African dances, and an array of contemporary dance and art forms. Jack and Jills will learn and bring artifacts from their culture to share in a small presentation. Thrusts: educational,
recreational, and social and cultural thrusts.
What better way to develop a love of cooking is by this hands-on culinary experience? Jack and Jills will learn to healthy ways to cook their favorite foods, experience new foods and cook locally.
They will also learn how to read nutritional labels and measurements in size from teaspoons to liters.

Jack and Jills will celebrate the end of a great programming year with a fun pool party with their peers. Thrusts: Social & Recreational thrusts.
