Who? Jack and Jill Oakland County Chapter will host a chapter-wide activity for the 2023 Black Family Day event. The JJOC Black Family Day Committee in conjunction with Senior Recognition Day consisted of Paulina Johnson (Chair), Traci Kimbrough Crump, Shardae Hughes-Johnson, Ursula Price, Brandi Barton, Jelani Exum and Tracye Johnson.

Where? Detroit Historical Museum, 5401 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48202.

When? Saturday, May 6th, 2023, 1pm - 3:30pm.

What? Black Family Day is a nationally recognized event held annually in May. Our event will include a celebration of our graduating seniors, recognition of out-going mothers as well as Groups 1-5 celebrations.

How? Each family will enjoy a family celebration and participate in the end of year celebration. Each child and teen will be recognized for their participation and those moving to a new group will receive special acknowledgement. Grade groups 1 to 5 will provide special tributes for each graduating senior. The event feature graduate display tables, time for each graduate to give remarks and special gifts will be given to each graduate. We will have a guest speaker and entertainment by current and former JJOC children and teens.

Why? To encourage each JJOC family to reflect and recognize the positive effects of the Jack and Jill Oakland County Chapter on its families and community and to lift-up the black family village.

Programmatic Thrust? Cultural, Educational, Social, Recreational.
