The Jack and Jill Day Celebration and Carole Robertson Ceremony is a national celebration of Jack and Jill every September as established in 1948 under the direction of Dorothy Wright – our first National President – to focus on the family. Mothers, fathers, teens, and children from Groups 1 through Group 5 enjoy this event.
Group 1 thru illustration of painting on canvas demonstrated sensory and learning with the theme “we’re leaving our imprint on the world”; Group 1 learned the importance of black history and their contribution as little ones to the world. The activity helped in educational values for sensory, primary color learning and science in learning how rainbows are formed.
This week is Fire Prevention Safety. Children will learn ways to remain safe in case of a fire.
Jack and Jills will learn that fire can be dangerous, matcher/lighters are for grownups, using their listening skills to hear what a smoke alarm sounds like and establishing a meeting place for safety.
Children will use tools such as drawing skills to create a home map.

Children will learn about eating healthy is also important for animals, develop an understanding of animal health and disease, animal behavior and handling in the context of veterinary medicine, animal production and management, and animal science research.
Kids will learn about healthy weights of certain types of animals and why Veterinarians are important careers.

The children will use their artistic side in a youth friendly cooking experience, decorating Holiday cookies.
To learn more about cooking we will take a cookie recipe, scramble up the steps in the recipe and allow the children to make a complete recipe.
The recipe will be available to take home, allowing the children to test out with their families during the Holiday season.
Children will also learn about measuring and appliance safety.

In support of MLK day (day of service) our families coming together to serve others in the community who are disadvantaged and in need. This activity will teach Jacks and Jills the importance of black history and what African-America leaders contributed to the world. Children will have magazines to use while partnering with their parents to make a small poster collage. Jack and Jills will then participate in a local MLK walk and presentation from the community with the chapter. Thrusts: Civic and Legislative, Community Service
The children will learn about Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's) through a children’s picture book authored by Mother Ayisha Mumin and Norfolk, VA Chapter Mother Kawanna Ward for their Edutainment Brand Steposaurus Kids. Thrusts: educational, cultural, and social
Group 1 children had a wonderful time at the children’s Hands-On Museum learning all about science, technology, engineering, art and math through the participation in the vast number of exhibits using their sensory of sight, sound and touch.

A fun filled Easter hunt implementing educational activities that will take place during the hunt. We will advance our skills by identifying colors (primary and secondary colors), patterns and practice our critical thinking in a scavenger hunt. Thrust: educational, recreational, and social
