KIDS’ NIGHT OUT

Kids, need a break from your parents? No problem! Bring your friends and have a blast at the Y with our cool counselors on Friday night! Join us for a variety of activities such as games, sports, movies, and arts & crafts. Pizza and juice boxes will be served.

Pre-registration is required at least 48 hours in advance.

Kids Night Out is open to non-members, so encourage a friend to register with you!

Preschool & Kindergarten Enrichment Program

This program is designed for preschool and kindergarten-aged children, ages 3-5. The focus will be on developing socialization skills, as well as introducing colors, shapes, letters and numbers. Children will participate in learning activities, craft projects, music, gym play and more. Students must be fully pottytrained.

Jr. NBA/WNBA SUMMER BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Co-ed league open to Grades 3-8

All games and practices will be held at Joliet Junior College on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Five-game season. No playoffs.

PRACTICES AND GAMES

Practices begin the week of May 4. Games will be played primarily on Friday evenings/Saturday mornings beginning the week of May 25. Occasional games may be held on weeknights.

Practice locations will include the C.W. Avery Family YMCA. The majority of game locations will include the C.W. Avery Family YMCA, with occasional games at JJC, and the Morris Hospital YMCA. Ages 4-6 will play 7 regular season games. Age divisions 7 and up will play 6 regular season games and at least 1 playoff game. No games will be held over 4th of July weekend.

OFFICIAL NFL GEAR

All participants will receive an NFL jersey and flag belt. Mouthguards are required and gloves are recommended. Rubber cleats are recommended, but gym shoes are also allowed. Metal cleats are not allowed. Participants are asked to wear pants/shorts that do not have pockets while competing in games.

MY Y REWARDS PROGRAM

Greater Joliet Area YMCA Facility Members, ages 16 and up, are invited to enroll in the My Y Rewards Program. Designed to support you along your health and wellness journey, you’ll earn points each time you check-in, take a class, or refer a friend to the Y. You can then redeem your points for fun Y swag and program and membership credits. And, the best part, it’s FREE!

2. Scroll down to “Don’t have an account?” and click “JOIN.”

3. Enter your email address and click “Sign Up.” Please be sure to use the same email that’s tied to your YMCA membership account in order to earn points.

4. Check your email for a confirmation message and click “Complete Registration.”

5. Once you’re redirected to the My Y Rewards site, enter your first and last name, create your password, and click “Sign Up.”

KID ZONE

Before and After School Youth Enrichment Program

In the YMCA’s Before and After School program, kids participate in physical, learning, and imaginative activities that encourage them to explore who they are and what they can achieve. Kids have fun, make new friends, and create memories that last a lifetime. Also serving Bolingbrook & Romeoville areas in partnership with Valley View District 365U Kid Zone registration for the 2026-2027 school year begins on April 11 for Facility Members and on April 18 for Community Members.

PRIVATE & SEMI-PRIVATE DANCE LESSONS

Work with an experienced dance instructor in a one-on-one or small group setting. Sessions can be 30 or 60 minutes in length and will focus on strengthening your dancer’s abilities.

Stop by the Membership Desk and pick up a 2026 Mission Strong t-shirt by making a donation of $25 or more to the YMCA Mission Strong Fund. Your donation will help to ensure that no one is turned away from the Y due to the inability to pay.

AT THE Y, NO ONE IS TURNED AWAY DUE TO THE INABILITY TO PAY.

DHS funds are accepted. Financial assistance may also be available for those who do not qualify for DHS funds. Programming runs Monday through Friday on school days and coordinates with each school district’s calendar. A $50 non-refundable registration fee per family and YMCA membership fee (if applicable) are due upon registering. Ten installment payments will be paid monthly beginning in August via automatic withdrawal from a checking account or debit/credit card. If families register after the start of the school year, the first monthly installment will be collected at the time of registration. Participants may start attending Kid Zone four business days after the day registration is completed.

KID ZONE Days Out of School

On select days out of school, children in grades K-8 are invited to spend the day with friends and Kid Zone staff at the C.W. Avery Family YMCA. All participants should dress for the weather, bring a sack lunch, a drink, snacks, a swimsuit and a towel. Please note: Refunds will not be given to those who are unable to attend. The registration deadline is 48 hours prior to the day off school.

Program will run on all District 202 days out of school (excluding major holidays).

Grades K-8

Times: Children may be signed in as early as 7 a.m. and signed out as late as 6 p.m.

Exploring Career Opportunities in Health Sciences

Ages 14-19 Free Thursday, March 12 6-7:30 p.m.

Workshop Location: Joliet Junior College - Room U-1024

In addition to listening to engaging guest speakers, participants will have the opportunity to meet with a variety of healthcare professionals and academic providers. Attendees will also learn more about scholarship opportunities, tuition reimbursement programs, and educational pathways for careers in the healthcare industry. Refreshments will be served.

2026 COLLEGE TOUR

Ages 14-21 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Cost: $30

The college tour will depart from Joliet Junior College, located at 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. Departure from JJC may be as early as 7 a.m. and arrival back to JJC will be no later than 6 p.m. Finalized trip itineraries will be communicated the week prior to the tour. Transportation, lunch and t-shirt will be provided.

Our adaptive swim lesson program is designed for children with special needs. The goal of this program is to provide basic water instruction and water safety skills in a therapeutic manner with the needs of each individual participant in mind.

SWIMMING FURTHER FASTER

JETS SPRING SWIM CLINIC

The JETS swim clinic is a great opportunity to spend time with the JETS coaches learning new skills and getting an idea of what the team is like. Throughout the clinic, coaches also evaluate swimmers to determine if they meet criteria to be placed on the team. If swimmers do not meet the criteria to join, the YMCA offers swim lesson programs to develop skills.

To participate in the clinic, swimmers must be able to safely swim 25 yards, comfortable with their face in the water. Spots for the team are limited. Clinic registration at a site does not guarantee practice site for the upcoming season.

Free for Facility Members!

If you are looking to start a new fitness routine and don’t know where to start, or if you have taken a break from exercise and want to get back on track, this FREE program is for you! The Y’s Fit4U program offers guidance, knowledge, and motivation to help you lead a healthier lifestyle and become more physically active. This comprehensive 4-week introductory program will introduce you to the Wellness Center amenities, help you set goals, and design a workout program that works best for you. Each appointment will introduce you to a new element of fitness under the guidance of a Wellness Attendant.

PART 1: GETTING STARTED AND BASELINE TESTS

During this opening session, we will assess your current fitness level, set goals, get body composition (if requested), and complete our Fit4U questionnaire. You will have the opportunity to get set up on the YMCA on the Go App and begin orientation on any cardiovascular equipment (treadmills, ellipticals and bikes) that interests you.

PART 2: CARDIO REVIEW AND UPPER BODY STRENGTH

This session will reinforce the basics of using cardio equipment and add instruction of upper body strength equipment based on your fitness goals.

LAZYMAN TRIATHLON

Mar 9- Apr 19, $5

The LAZYMAN IRONMAN is a triathlon challenge created just for Y members! Participants will have the opportunity to complete a full IRONMAN by swimming, biking and running their way to the finish line at their own pace and in their own time to complete the 140.6-mile race in six weeks.

You’ll track your mileage on a personal mileage tracking sheet.

PART 3: LOWER BODY STRENGTH

The third session will introduce lower body strength equipment based on your fitness goals and review progress on your new fitness schedule.

PART 4:

PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

In this closing session, we will review and answer any additional questions related to cardio or strength equipment, workout progressions, and Personal Training options.

Members who complete all 4 sessions will be entered into a raffle for a free personal training session.

FOR HEALTHY LIVING

WELLNESS CENTER CERTIFICATIONS

This course is required for teens aged 13 to 15 who wish to access our wellness centers. It is designed to provide a comprehensive and informative session so teens can properly utilize strength and cardiovascular equipment. The fee is $20, and parents are needed for the paperwork.

If you have been stuck in a rut, lost motivation, or just need an extra push then this class if for you. Taught by a certified personal trainer, you will get 1 hour of workout time, weekly follow ups, and motivation to help you reach your goals.

TRX SUSPENSION TRAINING

Ages 16 and Up SP1,SP2 $60/$120 Tue. 7-7:45 p.m.

Using a TRX Suspension Trainer, you get an effective total-body workout that helps you build true functional strength and improve flexibility, balance and core stability all at once. Workouts can be modified for all fitness levels, including beginners, seniors and athletes.

BELLY DANCE

Ages 18 and Up SP1,SP2 $60/$120 Fri. 6-7 p.m.

Learn Choreography to 1 specific song, taught by a dance teacher. Adult participants will learn choreography as a dancer would. Movements are made for any level. Participants will become more confident through dance! No previous experience needed.

ADULT DANCE: JAZZ /FUNK

Ages 18 and Up SP1,SP2 $130/$260 Mon. 7:30-8:15 p.m.

Learn Choreography to 1 specific Top 40/ Current song, taught by a dance teacher. Adult participants will learn Basic Jazz choreography mixed with Hip Hop just as a dancer would over a 10 week period. Movements are made for any level. Participants will become more confident through dance! No previous experience needed. No Classes Spring Break

STRUT:

Ages 18 and Up 4/1 $20/$40 Wed. 5:30-5:45 p.m.

Learn Choreography to 1 specific Top 40/ Current song, taught by a dance teacher. Adult participants will learn choreography as a dancer would. Movements are made for any level. Participants will become more confident through dance! No previous experience needed. *Knee Pads are recommended.

OVERLOAD EVOLUTION

9 Week Overload Evolution is a small group strength training class, in which participants will be taught proper lifting form, and how to train in a Progressive Overload styleby challenging your body in manageable increments over time to build muscle and gain strength. NO Classes Spring Break
