Caught on camera Lady Bulldogs steal win at Van Alstyne

Calley Vick's 6-of-6 free throw shooting in the fourth helped Howe in the dynamic comeback win. Michelle Carney/Howe Enterprise. It wasn't long ago that Van Alstyne students put together a video about a Howe player breaking into the school and stealing the Silver Spike trophy. The Lady Bulldogs fell behind early in the game Friday night only scoring nine points in the first period. Meanwhile, the Lady Panthers hammered down four 3pointers to race out to an 8-point lead. Peter 2:23-25 - and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls. " "

As Derek Lands' teams have done for the better part of his coaching career, the Lady Bulldogs owned the third period by outpacing Van Alstyne 15-5 thanks in part to a well-timed and rare 3-pointer by Ally Harvey. Harvey finished the game with three 3-pointers as the tall post showed her range. Howe held a 34-33 lead heading into the fourth period. The fourth quarter was a battle with the game coming down to

late heroics from Vick as she went 6-for-6 in the period from the free throw line. Howe also got 3pointers from Jenna Honore and Harvey. Sierra Copeland also contributed a bucket as Howe won the period, 20-17 and the game 54-50. Harvey led Howe with 15 points and nine rebounds while Honore and Vick each followed with 11. Other scorers were Copeland (8), Katie Grogan (3), Cassidy Anderson (2), Marissa Agee (2), and Molly Wilson (2). On Tuesday, Howe played a sloppy game but still came out on top of Bells, 47-42. Howe stormed out to an 18-6 lead after the first period but Bells came roaring back with a 21-8 second period showing to take a 27-26 lead at the half. Both teams struggled in the third period as both Howe and Bells scored nine points each. In the fourth period, Howe finally pulled away by mustering a 12-6 run to put the game away. Anderson led Howe with 15 points while Harvey was also in double digits with 11. Others were Copeland (6). Honore, Grogan, and Vick each had five.
