Hall of Honor

Kim Chisum and family were present to accept the Hall of Honor induction of J.J. Chisum. The Howe Enterprise was honored for being the longest operating business in the city and Dale and Lana Rideout accepted the certificate for their 38 years of operating the business. In attendance and accepting recognition as one of the oldest businesses in Howe was Hugh Hawkins of Hugh's TV. He opened his store initially on Denny Street where Baker Air Conditioning is currently operating. He then moved to US 75 in 1972. Other longtime businesses recognized were the School Zone Academy, Southwest Auction, Baker Air & Heating, Magni-Fab, Remcor, and Independent Bank. The evening started with the Chamber awards which saw Feed My Sheep take home the Volunteer Organization of the Year Award. Other nominees were Keep Howe Beautiful and the Howe Volunteer Fire Department.

Chamber Awards

Allison Scott of Stark Lane Farms was presented with the New Business of the Year Award for the 2016 year.

Nominees for New Business of the Year were Stark Lane Farms, Skinner Plumbing Supply, and Palio's Pizza Cafe. The award went to Stark Lane Farms. "Grace and hospitality are two things I would have never expected when we moved here, but everyone we've met has been so welcoming here in Howe." said Ryan Scott of Stark Lane Farms. His wife Allison who owns the store echoed his sentiments, "I've had incredible customer support and loyalty and an awesome employee (while pointing to Michelle Snow)." The Business of the Year Award went to the Howe Enterprise. Abby's Restaurant and Stark Lane Farms were also nominated.

Carolyn Cherry, Annette Hartleben and Pastor Zack Landis accept the Volunteer Organization of the Year Award for the 2016 year for Feed My Sheep.

The Norma J. Wallace Citizen of the Year Award was presented by Chamber President Robert Cannaday to Monte Walker. Walker was nominated along with Jean Norman and Jonathan Coleman.
