Maximize Your Fun
When I took this job in 2015, my very first assignment was taking a helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon, where myself and my fellow passengers got to spend some time just sitting and taking in the scenery. To this day, it remains one of my most vivid memories as editor of Las Vegas Magazine. If you’ve never done it before, I can’t recommend it enough. From the flight itself to the views, it’s simply unparalleled.
And with Maverick Helicopters, a longstanding attraction in Las Vegas, you can do just that with the Wind Dancer Sunset Flight, which we break down for you in this week’s issue (“Aerial Awesomeness,” p. 32). Check it out, and then get your tickets. You will not regret it.
Now onto Thanksgiving! Since you’re here this week, you’ll definitely want to check out our collection of amazing holiday meals available, from sit-down experiences to to-go repasts (“We Hope You’re Hungry!” p. 34).
And the great food doesn’t stop there. Check out the incredibly plated cuisine at one of the Strip’s newest restaurants, BOA Steakhouse at The Venetian Resort (“Modern Marvel,” p. 12), or grab some of the absolutely best pizza—New York pizza, no less—at Richie Palmer’s Mulberry Street Pizzeria of Beverly Hills at Resorts World Las Vegas (“Slice Into This,” p. 14).

The tableside presentations at this Las Vegas version of the SoCal favorite herald exquisite flavors
BOA Steakhouse may be familiar to you if you are from SoCal, but if you’re not, don’t worry. The newly opened Las Vegas outpost of the original not only brought over many beloved dishes but introduced Vegas signatures as well. The Venetian Resort restaurant itself is gorgeous, with a casual patio area and more secluded interior dining rooms that channel a midcentury modern vibe, with bookcase-style room dividers and plenty of greenery.
BOA Steakhouse has multiple tableside presentations to experience, and we recommend trying as many as possible. Get a cocktail, first though; I recommend both the zero-proof Smokin’ Yuzu margarita with Ritual tequila, and the espresso martini (bandero style), with tequila and tableside Frenchpressed e spresso.
The shareable wagyu cigars are impressive from initial presentation to consumption. The cigars are brought to table in a cigar box, cut and carefully transferred to a plate. Dip the end into black garlic yuzu aioli and chili crisp for a stogie that exceeds all expectations. Order roasted bone marrow with short rib on toast and enjoy the torching. A classic Caesar is prepared tableside (as your server tells you the Caesars salad
story), while a sea of cool fog envelopes the ahi tuna tartare with golden flying fish roe. Favorites like goat cheese baklava (the truffle is strong with this one) and herby Parker House rolls come with caramelized onion butter.
Entrées include Creekstone Farms filets, ribeyes and New York strips, plus a large-format Brooklyn-style porterhouse and dry-aged tomahawk, pictured. Chicken Parm, marinated skirt steak frites with crispy beef tallow fries, spaghetti and wagyu meatballs, and lobster fra diavolo round out the mains. Vegetarians will love the massaman Thai curry, with sunchokes, seasonal veggies and coconut milk, with the sauce being poured tableside. The fragrance is dizzying. BOA Steakhouse also serves Beyond Steak frites.
Some of the sides to look for are the mac and cheese, which is available with truffle, lobster or original. The original is super smooth and creamy and worth every calorie. The corn crème brûlée is a pretty dish with a crispy cap to break through, and the BOA “Boujee” twicebaked potato is served with royal select caviar. –Nina King

Slice Into This
The popular L.A.-based pizza brand is serving real-deal New York pies on the Las Vegas Strip
How many times have you heard— when not on the East Coast—that a pizza spot is cooking up real New York-style slices? And then you bite into a thick crust with unbalanced flavors topping a pie that could not be less New York-style in any way, shape or form? As a once-East Coast resident, specifically New York and New Jersey, I’ve often eaten the real deal New York slices, and I’d be hard-pressed to find an equal here in Las Vegas—until I ate one at Richie Palmer’s Mulberry Street Pizzeria of Beverly Hills at Resorts World Las Vegas.
“We wanted to do New York pizza on the West Coast. Not New York-style but New York pizza. Very authentic,” said Darren Tripicchio, general manager of Richie Palmer’s Mulberry Street Pizzeria of Beverly Hills. His family, specifically his uncle Richie, opened the first shop in Beverly Hills in 1991, and today they have four spots in L.A. The first Las Vegas location opened along with Resorts World Las Vegas in 2021.
Many of the recipes come from Tripicchio’s grandmother’s kitchen—the sauce, the ziti, the salad dressings. “We’re real New Yorkers coming in and bringing our pizza,” he said. “… Our focus on that balance with the sauce, the cheese, the dough—that old-school New York Bronx pizza, that’s what it’s based on. (It’s) a very thin crust and crispy. And it’s all about the balance and
the ratio between the dough, the sauce and the cheese. It’s an art. The balance of the three is what makes a pizza excellent.”
Besides two of the most-popular pies, the cheese and the pepperoni, Tripicchio is pushing the envelope with unique creations that were supposed to be on the menu for a limited time, but became so popular they’ve become mainstays: the bulgogi pizza is a Korean barbecuestyle pizza with bulgogi beef in a made-in-house marinade, onions, scallions and homemade spicy mayo; and the carne asada pizza with carne asada steak, pico de gallo, cilantro, salsa verde sauce and a made-inhouse cilantro aioli drizzle.
“Please come visit us and you’ll see—a lot of people tell us we’re the best,” Tripicchio said. “We never abandon quality; it’s always going to be top-notch.”
Insider tip: Don’t skip out on ordering the frozen margaritas. They partnered with good friend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his Teremana Tequila brand to create two frozen margaritas that have become best-sellers. The Rockarita is made with Teremana, pineapple and coconut, and the Teremana Sunrise is made with pineapple, coconut, orange, grenadine and Teremana. –Kiko Miyasato

Looking for great gifts? Seasonal shopping looks good with Vegas’ stellar Strip options
Whether you are window shopping or checking off every person on your list, Las Vegas’ retail meccas are worth your while. And with Black Friday this week, we’d like to introduce you to new shops that opened this year, as well as shopping complexes up and down the Strip.
If you missed Gucci’s reopening in late summer at Via Bellagio, then you’ll want to head there first. The 8,000-square-foot store was given a gorgeous renovation with an expanded lineup of signature products such as their coveted handbags, as well as a selection from the company’s travel line. Other fabulous boutiques in Via Bellagio include Dior, Harry Winston and Tiffany & Co.
At FSLV—Fashion Show Las Vegas, kick off the holiday season with a fun place to idle as the shopping center shows off its seasonal holiday spirit with towering holiday trees, a Route 66 gas station display and more. While you are getting a selfie or visiting Santa, check out stops like Lego and Pop-Mart for toys for big and small girls and boys, classic styles at Macy’s and Nordstrom, and more than 250 other shops.
In The Shops at Crystals, Italian menswear retailer Zegna opened a handsome new space this year, concentrating on upscale leisurewear. Other great spots here include Hermès Paris, Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen.
For a highly unusual shopping experience, take the three-story spiral escalator leading from floor to floor in The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. Parker Joe opened this year with an emphasis on apparel for boys, and so did Zara, the Spanish company that offers trendy apparel for the family.
And every day is a mild, pleasant day in The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort , where pathways lead along waterways and past stores like Horologico and Jimmy Choo. Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood brings plenty of gifts to source, from art in galleries like Wyland or bling in boutiques like Swarovski. Fill out stockings with the makeup and skincare products from Miss A or Shémoni Jewelry’s silver offerings. Stroll through The Shoppes at Mandalay Place for more of those stocking stuffers from fun shops like the Guinness Store, the Las Vegas Sock Market and Pandora. –Nina King
Thank Yourself Later
Take some time for pampering this holiday season
One of my most fond Thanksgiving memories is the year my mother and I decided to indulge in relaxation. We decided there was no need to spend the day cooking and cleaning for guests when we could book a day at the spa, so we did just that, and I still think there’s no better way to spend the holiday.
Take a page out of my book this year and stop into the fabulous Qua Baths & Spa at Caesars Palace. This opulent and relaxing escape offers skin treatments
and massages that will have you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated for the busy season to come.
Book a restorative CBD massage to ease sore muscles and reduce inflammation or tap into the detox and balance your energy with a salt and stone massage, which uses warm Himalayan salt stones.
Get glowing with one of the luxurious facials Qua offers. To have an experience designed for you, book the bespoke facial,
a personalized experience that includes a skin analysis and consultation that dictates what treatments are necessary to achieve your skincare goals. For something high-end and extensive, book the Celestial Black Diamond Lift & Firm facial, which uses anti-aging treatments and high performance supplies made with diamond particles and very potent active ingredients. –Em Jurbala

The City at Your Fingertips
Navigate Las Vegas like an expert with this handy tool
Navigating the Strip and surrounding areas can be overwhelming. Luckily, the Vegas2Go app, available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, puts an extensive guide to the city right in the palm of your hand.
Simply set up your account and unlock a vast knowledge of the city, including special deals that you may otherwise miss out on. The app is locational, so once you’ve indicated the resort you’re staying at, toggle to the “selected” tab to see all the dining,
shopping, shows and lounges in the property. Then switch to the “nearby” setting to see all the options that are within a walking distance of your temporary digs.
If you have something specific in mind, perhaps a steakhouse dinner or family-friendly fun, use the search function. Use the red drop-down menu to search everywhere (which will populate results from all over the valley), nearby or in your selected property to find exactly what you’re looking
for. And if it’s a one-off show you seek, check the “events” tab for an up-todate calendar of all the acts rolling through town during your stay.
Oh, and those exclusive offers we mentioned? They’re visible on each listing they apply to, so there’s no need to scour the web for ways to save on your Vegas vacay. Find an offer you’d like to use, select the “save” option and access it when you’re ready under the “saved offers” tab in the “more” menu. Enjoy! –Em Jurbala
Fall for These Flavors
Imbibe on specialty cocktails to welcome in the new season
It’s sweata’ weatha,’ and here in Las Vegas that means new fall-flavored cocktails are on menus across the city. Brown spirits, warm and toasty flavors and sugar and spice and everything nice are the inspiration behind recipes that scream the fall season. So let’s get into some of our faves.
One of the true speakeasies in the city, The Laundry Room inside downtown’s Commonwealth, just released a new menu, and while it’s filled with reimagined classics and unique sips, it’s a great destination for cocktails that are giving fall season flavors. Try the Maple Masala Mama, a scotch-based delight with maple, curry and cream, or order the Banana Bisque Cream, with reposado tequila, banana, allspice, cream and cinnamon powder.
At The Cabinet of Curiosities at Horseshoe Las Vegas, create your own fall cocktails by booking one of the popular mixology classes offered. Classes on Nov. 28-30 include Crisp Fall Creations: Unlocking Autumn Flavors, where you’ll get to learn how to make Salted Caramel Apple and Fluttering Pumpkin cocktails. All tools, spirits, mixers and more are included in the class, run by the bar’s top mixologists.
Two of the city’s longtime top mixologists, Evan Hosaka and Daniel Yang, recently opened a cocktail
haven downtown, White Whale, and it’s quickly become a hot spot for top cocktail creations. And with the new season upon us, fall flavors pop up on the new menu. Highlights include the White Whale Espresso, made with fresh brewed espresso, coffee liqueur, cacao liqueur and vodka, and the Black Friday, made with bourbon, vanilla extract, egg white and lemon. Fall just screams brown spirits and
cigars, and no place does this better than Eight Lounge at Resorts World Las Vegas, which recently unveiled new fall cocktails. Some of the new treats include The Life’s A Rye-It, spiced with Russell’s Reserve 6-year rye, Grand Marnier, tamarind, chili, demerara and lemon, and the Winter Stardust with Angel’s Envy bourbon, coffee liqueur, crème de cacao and bitters with chocolate shavings. Ask one of the cigar
Gourd
Gourd Intentions
ambassadors to pair each cocktail with a hearty, tasty stogie from the lounge’s sizeable humidor. Also on property, Carversteak released its new fall cocktails, including the unique sip You’ve Met Your Matcha, with vanilla-infused American Harvest vodka, Pico crème de cacao, Frangelico liqueur, yuzu juice, pistachio orgeat and matcha.
Take a trip off the Strip and head to one of the city’s most beloved destinations, Las Vegas Distillery. Inside the warehouse is a cozy lounge where top mixologists are whipping up some fall creations that include the Gourd Intentions, made with Las Vegas Distillery vodka and coffee liqueur, pumpkin spice foam and graham cracker crust, and Keep the Change, with Las Vegas Distillery New Make bourbon, sweet vermouth, Angostura bitters and cherry bark vanilla bitters. You can pair any cocktail with the made-in-house grilled cheese and tomato bisque for just $14.
At Cabo Wabo Cantina at Planet Hollywood, a trio of fall cocktails will warm your tummy and get you feeling fine. Order the warm apple cider, made with gala apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, caramel, Captain Morgan spiced rum and Fireball, the Fireside with Stoli vanilla vodka, Illegal mezcal, coffee
liqueur and chocolate bitters with toasted marshmallow, and the winter margarita with Cantera Negra blanco tequila, fresh lime, house-made spiced pear syrup and cranberry.
Plan a stop into The Venetian Resort to visit two hot spots with fall-inspired treats. Liam’s Den & Bubble Bar has introduced a new
autumn cocktail, the Chai Me A River, made with brandy, Cointreau, fresh lemon and a chai-spiced sugar rim. And over at Flight Club, play some innovative dart games while ordering the new Glenfiddich flight, paired with a charcuterie board. The whiskey flight includes Glenfiddich 14-, 18- and 24year selections. –Kiko Miyasato

Bartender
has found her happy place
When it comes to her career, Alexis Oltean says, “Trust the process; the universe always works itself out. Great things take time.” For nearly a decade, the self-taught bartender cut her teeth bartending all over the city, from sports and gaming bars to corporate restaurants and gentlemen’s clubs, and now she’s found her happy place bartending in fine dining, specifically at Stubborn Seed at Resorts World Las Vegas.
“We’re super fun—it’s the newest, hottest, Instagrammable restaurant,” Oltean says. “It’s my first fine-dining bartending
job, and there’s more selection when it comes to cocktails, more creativity.”
Oltean joined the restaurant when it first opened its doors earlier this year and she’s putting her sharpened skills to the test. She’s always challenging herself, constantly practicing and expanding her knowledge on mixology.
“I like watching people take that first sip and be like, ‘Whoa!’ You watch people enjoy what you made—I love that,” she says. “Chef (Jeremy Ford) likes to use the term ‘polished grit.’ It’s high-end but casual and laid-back; the dishes are

One of Oltean’s favorite cocktails is the Kill Dill.
“It’s very balanced and refreshing, herbaceous and super-unique,” she says. For those who don’t like sweet cocktails, this one’s for you, with a mix of Dolin Génépy le Chamois liqueur, cucumber, dill syrup, Fresno pepper, egg white and fresh lime. –KM
Michelin star, but the music and vibe is familiar and fun. Our cocktails—we use a lot of kitchen techniques and ingredients. We have very unique cocktails for sure.”
While one would be remiss not to try the cocktails on the menu, don’t be afraid to ask Oltean to whip you up an off-menu libation. She likes coming up with new recipes tailored to her guests’ tastes. “I look at making cocktails—mixology—just like cooking, but it’s liquid. The Steak House at Circus Circus has been the model of consistency for decades
By Ken Miller
For more than 40 years, The Steak House at Circus Circus has been the go-to for generations of tourists and locals alike. And that’s because its customers always know what they’re getting: seriously great food, a menu that keeps things more or less the same year in and year out, service that makes you feel special, and an old-school ambience you really can’t find anywhere else on the Strip. This is the sort of restaurant where it’s not uncommon on any given night to see at least an anniversary or birthday celebrated. It’s just that special.
As you’re escorted to your table or leather booth, you’ll immediately be struck by two things: a dry-aging locker with floor-to-ceiling windows that allows you to check out all the cuts you’re about to choose from, and a food preparation area smack-
dab in the middle of the restaurant. Before your meal arrives, be sure to order a cocktail to prepare you for the deliciousness to come. All the classics are here to enjoy, from Old-Fashioneds and Manhattans to dirty martinis, but vodka lovers will want to try the Lemon Drop, made with Absolut Citron, triple sec and lemon juice.
Start your meal with any of the splendid appetizers, from the French onion soup and deeply flavorful grilled garlic shrimp and sautéed mushrooms to oysters on the half shell or the massive Seafood Sensation, a tower of oysters, crab and shrimp that’s practically a meal by itself! Salads here are all fresh and satisfying. The
Porterhouse steak
702.794.3767
blue cheese wedge is always great, but if you want to bump things up a notch, order the Waldorf wedge, which is served with a balsamic blue cheese vinaigrette. For something really light yet deeply satisfying, opt for the tomato, mozzarella and basil
salad. If you’re a spinach fan, the fresh spinach salad is delightful, smothered in the restaurant’s hot bacon dressing (so yummy!).
Whatever you order from the steak menu, know this: All the beef on it is Midwestern in origin and aged for
21 days at 37 degrees Fahrenheit to achieve maximum flavor quality and texture. From the New York strip and porterhouse to the filet mignon and ribeye on the bone, every bite here will put you in the best of moods.
And if red meat isn’t quite what you’re craving, quality alternatives include lamb chops, salmon filet, twin broiled lobster tails, Alaskan king crab legs, sweet chili-glazed salmon, chicken breast and grilled garlic shrimp. No matter what you choose, make sure to accompany them with the wonderful sides like asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms or a humongous baked potato with all the fixings.
Dessert options are all top-notch versions of the classics. We’re particularly partial to the tiramisu, here served on a bed of chocolate drizzle, and the crème brûlée, topped with fresh berries and cream. But you also cannot go wrong with favorites like cheesecake and chocolate cake.

Maverick Helicopters offers a wide variety of spectacular experiences
By Genevie Durano
If you think it’s impressive to walk down the Strip and bathe in the neon lights, it’s nothing like getting a bird’s-eye view of this glittering oasis from a few thousand feet up.
Maverick Helicopters has been giving people an unparalleled view of Las Vegas and its surrounding natural wonders for three decades. One of its most popular tours is the Wind Dancer Sunset flight, which takes guests to the Grand Canyon with a sunset return over the neon lights of the Strip. You get the best of both worlds: the natural beauty of one of the seven natural wonders and the manmade spectacle of Las Vegas.
A Maverick tour starts at its Las Vegas terminal, just past the iconic Welcome to Las Vegas sign. On this particular ride, I’m one of seven passengers aboard an ECO-Star helicopter, its wraparound windows built
for sightseeing. Our pilot, Seth, breaks the ice by asking if this is our first time on a helicopter. A few raise their hands, to which Seth replies, “Me, too.” We laugh
of lights and roads. The commercial planes at the airport look like colorful matchsticks. Seth puts on a playlist: Creed’s “Higher” seems apropos. My nervously, but in truth, Seth has done this flight over a thousand times.
Then we take our seats and strap in. Below, the city becomes a tidy grid
fellow passengers get their iPhones ready.
The helicopter passes over Lake Las Vegas, then glides over Hoover Dam, its smooth arc of concrete gleaming against Lake Mead. Seth points out the dam’s nearly century-old engineering, the Arizona-Nevada divide, the demarcation where Lake
Mead meets the Colorado River. (They are different colors, due to the river’s sediment-heavy waters versus the lake’s clearer, bluer water.)
About 45 minutes in, the ground begins to fracture into ridges and shadows, and then the Grand Canyon opens before us—what Seth calls “the big
reveal”—a sweep of color and space so expansive that conversation comes to a complete halt. The helicopter traces a path through more than 10 miles of canyon walls, their reds and browns deepening in the late-day light.
Seth descends 3,500 feet to a private landing site on Hualapai Indian Territory. Here, 300 feet above the Colorado River, we step out into stillness. Champagne is poured, light snacks set out. We disperse to explore. There is something holy about this land. Its vastness is humbling.
When the flight resumes, the sun is lowering toward the horizon and we rise and turn westward. We see the Bowl of Fire glowing with red rock formations; Lake Mead catches the last of the light.
As twilight deepens, the Las Vegas Valley appears
ahead, a faint shimmer at first, then a glittering sprawl. The Strip begins to glow as we descend. We see famous landmarks, and from above, Allegiant Stadium is so small that it could easily be mistaken for an office building. The Sphere looks like a child’s shiny toy. The entire trip has lasted just under four hours, but it feels longer, as if time has bent somewhere over the canyon.
Maverick offers several tours—night flights above the Strip, scenic loops over Red Rock Canyon, other trips to the Grand Canyon—but the Wind Dancer Sunset Tour is something special. It’s less about thrill-seeking than perspective, the quiet realization that some experiences are best measured not by distance, but by how small and lucky they make you feel.

Leave room for dessert when you indulge in these feasts
We’re thankful you’re here—and just in time for Turkey Day, too! Whether you’re in town visiting family or in town escaping family, you’ll find fabulous ways to celebrate Thanksgiving all over the valley.
If a classic turkey dinner is what you seek, head to Andiamo Steakhouse (The D. 702.388.2400) for an Italian-infused take on the classic meal. Indulge in herb-roasted turkey breast, Italian sausage and sourdough dressing, sweet potato casserole, garlic whipped potatoes, roasted veggies and cranberry sauce before enjoying your choice of dessert.
Over at Paris Las Vegas, more classic meals await. Eiffel Tower Restaurant (702.948.6937 ) serves a three-course dinner featuring cream of butternut squash soup, turkey with chestnut dressing and pumpkin souffle, while Mon Ami Gabi (702.944.4224) serves four courses of French fare, including endive and pear salad and an herb-roasted take on the traditional fowl and pumpkin bread pudding. Head to The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace for more holiday spreads. Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab (702.792.9222) is serving sliced turkey breast with leg and thigh
confit, served with all the fixings including stuffing, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes. The standout here is the finisher: pumpkin chiffon pie. RPM Italian (702.860.2225) also promises a fabulous meal with—you guessed it— oven-roasted turkey, whipped potatoes and seasonal sides.
Find all kinds of inventive takes on holiday flavors at The Venetian Resort with dishes like Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer’s (702.414.2337 ) turkey fried sandwich, which features succulent fried turkey piled high on a potato bun, drizzled with white barbecue sauce and topped with pickles and cherry pepper relish. Enjoy this sandwich all month long with some brie mac and cheese. Head to chef Thomas Keller’s Bouchon (702.414.6200) for a three-course meal that features an
a sushi restaurant serving the season al WakuCider, a cocktail with apple brandy, Cointreau, five spice and fresh lemon.
Dine at Hakkasan (MGM Grand. 702.891.7888) to indulge in signature dishes like the restaurant’s to-die-for Peking duck and the Hakka Basket, featuring incredible bites like royal jade king crab, langoustine har gau and pumpkin dumplings. Other standout selections include roasted Chilean sea bass and flavorful hakka noodles. Those who have plans with family

and friends (or those would prefer to enjoy their Thanksgiving in the peace and quiet of a luxurious suite) can find to-go meals all over. Yardbird Southern Table & Bar (The Venetian Resort. 702.297.6541) offers deepfried turkey in its takeout spread that includes biscuit stuffing, honey-glazed Brussels sprouts and bourbon brown butter-glazed yams. Finally, find a family-style feast for carryout at Carmine’s The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. 702.473.9700). Make sure to bring a crew to pick up the meal, as you’ll leave with a 16- to 18-pound roasted turkey, sausage and sage stuffing, cranberry sauce, Brussels sprouts, string beans, baby carrots, sweet potatoes with marshmallows and maple and mashed potatoes with giblet gravy.

The Jonas Brothers bring an ever-expanding catalog to Las Vegas
When the Jonas Brothers land at MGM Grand Garden Arena on Nov. 29 for their JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown tour, they’ll be showing fans what happens when pop stars grow up and get better with age.
It’s easy to forget how fast they rose— three brothers from New Jersey (Kevin, 17; Joe, 15; and Nick, 12), signed by Columbia Records in 2005, dropped by the label in early 2007 and then catapulted into global fame after signing with Disney’s Hollywood Records that same year.
By 2008, “S.O.S.” and “Burnin’ Up” were anthems, and Camp Rock made them Disney Channel staples—entire scenes are burned into my memory, thanks to my kid’s obsession. They were inescapable, the kind of fame that makes teenagers scream their devotion at sold-out arenas. Then, as it always does, the noise faded. The band split in 2013, and each brother tried something new: Nick went solo; Joe fronted DNCE; Kevin stayed closer to home. Most pop groups never make it back from that.
But the Jonas Brothers did. Their 2019 reunion single,“Sucker,” didn’t just chart, it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the first chart-topper of the group’s career. The tour that followed sold out. Happiness Begins went platinum. Suddenly, they weren’t a throwback act; they were a pop band with a catalog deep enough to fill stadiums and a fan base that now included the people who grew up with them and the ones who discovered them later through streaming playlists.
The scope of that catalog is striking. As Nick Jonas noted while discussing the JONAS20 tour: “It’s amazing to think about all the different musical journeys we’ve been on, both as individuals but also as a collective over the years.”
The MGM Grand show is part of that trajectory. Expect the setlist to jump between eras: early favorites like “Year 3000” and “Lovebug,” the slick polish of “Sucker” and “Only Human,” maybe a few cuts from The Album and their latest, seventh studio album, Greetings From Your Hometown. There’s a sense of continuity now, a through line connect-
ing their early work to where they are today. What sets the brothers apart from other pop acts is how they’ve managed to sound current without abandoning what made them compelling in the first place. The harmonies are still there, the melodic hooks intact, but the production has grown more sophisticated. And the appeal goes beyond sentimentality. Their chemistry onstage feels lived-in—part
banter, part muscle memory, undeniable DNA. Their sound has grown, leaning more into groove and warmth than pure sugar rush.
For the 20th anniversary tour, the production (lights, screens, choreography) will undoubtedly deliver, but the heart of the show lies in three brothers who genuinely enjoy performing together, singing songs that resonate with them and their fans.
7:30 p.m. Nov. 29, starting at $59 plus tax and fee. axs.com
For casual visitors or devoted fans, the MGM Grand Garden Arena show offers something special: a band operating at full strength, drawing on two decades of experience while still pushing forward. The Jonas Brothers are actively building on their legacy, transforming what began as teen stardom into a craft that continues to resonate with fans.

Glimpses back in time glimmer at
There’s simply no better way to feel connected to the community you’re visiting than learning its history. But while many cities have famous centuries-old landmarks or storied pasts, Las Vegas is a tad different. The city has a fascinating tale, beginning as a humble railroad town that eventually turned into the Entertainment Capital of the World (and not without atomic bombs and mobsters along the way), but visitors won’t often see historically significant buildings or landmarks throughout the valley. Why? Well, we like to blow things up.
“We’re the implosion capital of the world, right? We don’t just blow up our history. We have a party around it. We have all-night (events) that are just celebrating blowing up a piece of history,” says Aaron Berger, executive director of The Neon Museum. “This city is a town that reinvents itself so constantly that being able to save aspects of the building is the way we do historic preservation here.”
Berger and his passionate team at the museum spend their days tirelessly preserving the stories of Las Vegas by collecting and refurbishing an art form that’s become synonymous with Sin City: neon signs. First appearing in the Glitter Gulch sometime between 1928 and 1930, the glowing form of advertisement quickly became widespread, and by the mid-1930s the then-small desert oasis was covered in the glass and gas artworks. Thanks to the abundant electricity from our beloved Hoover Dam, Las Vegas was simply able to have more illuminated signage than most of America. 702.387.6366
In certain parts of the downtown area, businesses are required to have 75 percent of the total surface of their signage be neon.
With many businesses able to advertise using brightly lit words and flashy figures, the ’40s and ’50s saw increasingly more grandiose artworks. But as time passed and the city changed, many of these pieces of history were cast to the wayside, often out of commission and expensive to repair. That is, until decades later in 1996, when The Neon Museum began to collect and exhibit neon signs as a vital part of Vegas history. It would light its first sign in 2012 and continue to grow a collection that now surpasses more than 800 pieces, with about 250 signs on display.
“We’re incredibly proud and unique in that the historic preservation society of Las Vegas is really The Neon Museum. The sign, however, is the portal to telling the stories of the property,” Berger says. “Any of the signs that you’ve seen in the collection, we can tell you a story about women, we can tell you a story about the entertainment component, the cuisine of the time, all of these different aspects that are opportunities to really dig deeper into the experience.”
Berger isn’t kidding when he talks about storytelling. Take a 45-minute
guided tour through the Boneyard, where an incredibly well-informed guide will tell you about how the Moulin Rouge contributed to the Civil Rights Movement by becoming the first racially integrated hotel and casino, or how the Plaza made waves by allowing women to become dealers before any other casino.
What makes a tour particularly personal is that each guide has their own set of signs they resonate with, so there are signs every tour will hear about, but depending on what docent picks up your group, your tour will be enriched by something they truly connect with. Perhaps a guide will pause to point out one of the cutest in the collection, Happy Shirt, which sat outside Liberace’s dry cleaner of choice. Or they may tell you about the Western era of Las Vegas, when marketing took precedence over cultural sensitivity and businesses around the city embraced the imagery of the indigenous people of the Great Plains, which does not reflect the Southern Paiute indigenous people who are actually native to this area, before they guide you to a sign from the Red Barn, one of Las Vegas’ first LGBTQ bars.

The Moulin Rouge sign features two pink hues. The hot-pink tubes are original, while the coral-colored ones had to be replaced
• Look for the massive, hot-pink Moulin Rouge sign, which symbolizes Las Vegas’ first desegregated casino, for a striking shot. Tip: Shoot from an angle to create depth using foreshortening and fit the entire sign in one frame.
• Stop at the collection of redand yellow Golden Nugget, Sassy Sally’s and Binion’s signs, illuminated only by the ambient glow of the neighboring pieces, and some floor lighting for a vintage Vegas vibe and to escape the battle of back lighting.
• Snap a photo with a true Las Vegas icon when you spot Vegas Vic in the country-western corner of the Boneyard. Turn slightly toward the sign to use its neon glow to illuminate yourself.
• Take the perfect vertical pic in front of the mid-century modern Yucca Motel sign, featuring an artfully crafted sculpture of the desert plant. Not only is this piece beautiful, but the Plaza sign across from it provides a flattering soft glow.
• Use a Boomerang to capture the twinkling lights of the Stardust sign, a casino that used to sit where Resorts World Las Vegas is now. Take a wide shot to contrast old and new by capturing one of the museum’s newest additions, the Hard Rock guitar, in the background.
You might know that neon is a gas and that lights use electricity, but do you know how these combine to make fabulous artwork? If not, don’t worry, we’ll make this easy.
Each sign features a series of hand-bent glass tubes, which have been filled with neon (or other noble gases, but we’ll get to that later) and sealed with an electrode placed at either end. Usually using an alternating current, enough electricity to remove an electron from the neon atoms travels through the electrodes and into the tube,
essentially causing all the particles to start moving. As the atoms start to shimmy around, they bump each other, exchanging electrons and releasing energy as a photon, which is light! Each noble gas releases its own wavelength of photon, meaning each produces its own color of light. Neon shines a red-orange hue, while argon glows blue, helium glows pink and krypton glows green. Gases can be mixed to create other colors, or the glass tubes themselves can be colored to affect the glow they give off.
Once the glass tubes are sealed, the gas inside cannot escape, which means many of the signs in the Boneyard are still filled with gas from the 1950s, ’60s, ’70s and so on.
The museum also features modern artworks created by Tim Burton. Lost Vegas exhibited from October 2019 to April 2020, and a few pieces remain in the Boneyard.
“We have four core values that really guide the museum, and the first one is belonging. So whether you work at the museum or you’ve been to the museum, we want you to feel a sense of self in the experience,” says Berger. “So it’s why we tell the story of the LGBTQ community, stories of black community, stories of Latin (people) and stories of indigenous folk that we can share and allow people to have that connection to it. To not acknowledge it is to not acknowledge history.”
All this learning happens while having the singular experience of viewing each sign from just feet away, which becomes more fascinating with each glance.
“When these signs were originally installed, you would not see them
this close. So the fact that you get an opportunity to have a sight line into this piece and have close viewing is kind of amazing,” says director of collections and exhibits Jeff Tackett. “To have close viewing of a relit animated
• Book a tour late in the evening for a serene exploration of the Boneyard as the museum empties out for the evening.
• Look up The Neon Museum on Google Earth to see the Treasure Island Skull staring back at you.
sign is an experience you’ve never ever had before.”
Visitors may also book entry without a tour for a go-at-your-own pace experience that can be enhanced by an optional audio tour, or they can stop in for a showtime of “Brilliant! Jackpot,” an audiovisual experience that uses light-mapping to illuminate unrestored signs with great precision.
Also, see some of the museum’s collection while out on the town, as it has a multitude of signs placed in the median on the north end of Las Vegas Boulevard, including the Caballero and Palomino at the corner of Fremont Street and LVB, which Berger cites to be the first sign design to pay homage to a person of color in a way that’s authentic, not appropriative.
Fantasy: The Strip’s Sexiest Tease has delivered exactly what its name promises: a nightly escape into a world of beauty and seduction. Created by Anita Mann, the sexy revue has outlasted countless trends and productions by staying true to its vision. It’s hotter, bolder and cheekier than ever.
When it debuted in 1999, Mann figured the show might last six months. “We literally said, ‘Let’s do it for six months,’” she says with a laugh. “And they just kept renewing it until, eventually, we stopped counting.” What began as Midnight Fantasy, complete with a sweet Cinderella storyline, soon transformed into something more daring.
“Now the entire show features our cast with their multitalents,” Mann says. “And it works, because they’re incredible.”
And they really are. The dancers are the stuff of Vegas legend—goddesses who can melt you with a glance one moment and leave your jaw on the floor the next as they perform seemingly impossible choreography and acrobatics. They’re not just beautiful; they’re powerhouses, moving with a heady mix of strength and sensuality.
But what truly sets this show apart is the chemistry between these women. They have a genuine camaraderie that radiates from the stage, and they look like they’re having the time of their lives.
“You have to live in a small dressing room with eight, nine ladies,” Mann says. “The most important thing for me, after their dancing ability, is their kindness and their personality and their desire to work as team players.” This philosophy has created an environment where, as Mann puts it, “if the dressing room is not a peaceful, happy place, it’s not a healthy environment.”
At the center of it all is host Lorena Peril, the sultry siren whose powerhouse vocals and comedic chops make every audience member feel like they’re in on the fun.
“Sometimes people are nervous— it’s a sexy show after all,” Peril says. “I just like to make people feel good. I’m not scripted. It’s just comfortable, like we’re all hanging out in the living room and just chatting.”
That warmth translates directly to the audience experience. For Peril, who says she has the best job in the world, the joy she feels coming from the crowd is infectious. “I like to make people laugh. It makes me feel good because they’re feeling good, and I love that they’re all smiling.”
Mann’s show endures because it offers something special: authentic connection. These women aren’t just performing for the audience; they’re inviting them into their world. Night after night, they prove that the most seductive thing of all is the genuine joy they take in their craft. Sexy without apology, Fantasy is a celebration of women who understand that the best fantasies are built on real talent, real friendship and the real desire to make every audience member feel part of something magical.
“Every night, to me, is opening night,” Mann says. “No one ever phones it in. We go all-out, every time.”
