The Symposium will explore the need for resilience, adaptability, innovation and sustainability in Cape York businesses.

Session 1: Resilience and Adaptability Tuesday 15 June 9.30am - 11am Facilitated by Professor Hurriyet Babacan from The Cairns Institute, James Cook University, this session we will focus on building resilience in business and the importance of value adding and adaptability. We will also explore local and regional case studies and some of the business mega trends. Guest speakers include Krista Watkins, Managing Director of Natural Evolutions and 2018 National Rural Woman of the year and Pip Schroor, Regional Resilience Coordinator, Torres Cape Indigenous Council Alliance (TCICA). Session 2: Workforce Wellbeing Tuesday 15 June 11.30am - 1pm Facilitated by Cook Shire Council’s director of Organisational Business Services, Heather Kelly, this session will explore issues of workforce culture and mindset and how to build personal and workforce wellbeing as well as the impacts of COVID and natural disasters on mental health. Guest speakers include Dr Natasha Coventry, Eastern Director of Medical Services at Cooktown Hospital, Stephen White, Senior Mental Health Clinician, Royal Flying Doctor Service and Don Mackay, experienced senior Queensland Police Officer.
