FOR MORE THAN A CENTURY
We’ve evolved from a small contracting company in Houston, Texas, to an internationally acclaimed design, architecture, and construction powerhouse
Founded in 1912, The Beck Group is a collaborative team of designers and builders offering planning, architecture, interior design, construction, and sustainability consulting services.
From the first meeting, you will notice Beck’s unique approach to architecture and construction. We create teams across all departments and areas of expertise to work on a common goal— your project. We believe working together results in a better process and outcome.

CONTEXT CLARITY CRAFT
Beck’s approach to experiential design
Design That Performs. Build That Inspires.
Design must do more than function, it must spark emotion, elevate experience, and endure. Our architecture performs with purpose: flexible enough to adapt, refined enough to delight, and resilient enough to last. We build what we believe in, and we believe that iconic design and operational excellence are inseparable.
Design is Strategy, Not Sequence.
At The Beck Group, we don’t treat cost, constructability, or performance as afterthoughts. They’re active ingredients from day one. Our integrated model aligns design intent with real-world delivery, ensuring that every bold move on paper is buildable, brand-aligned, and on budget. This mindset is essential for delivering high-performance environments that balance guest experience with operational success.
From Design Vision to Architectural Reality
We adapt the five pillars of Design Thinking: Empathy. Define. Ideate. Prototype. Test This process is agile, iterative, and grounded in reality.
Set-Based Thinking, Not Single-Path Design.
We resist premature convergence. Instead, we work in sets, exploring multiple options, evaluating them through constructability, cost, and performance lenses. This is how we make decisions at the Last Responsible Moment, when we know more, not less.
DESIGN-BUILD, REDEFINED
Beck’s Seamless Integration of Design, Preconstruction, and Construction
At Beck, we redefine the traditional design-build model. Our fully integrated approach brings designers, preconstruction experts, and builders together from day one, ensuring seamless collaboration and real-time insights at every phase of the project.
By working as one cohesive team, we ensure our designs are visionary and supported by accurate cost, coordination, and constructability. With everyone aligned on project goals, we deliver designs backed by budgets, schedules, market trends, and historical data—empowering clients to make informed decisions.
This early collaboration leads to smarter, more cost-effective designs and a smoother, faster path to completion—free from the disconnects that often plague traditional processes.
At Beck, we don’t just build; we create with precision, innovation, and a shared vision for success.

With nearly four million man-hours logged and over 20 minority-owned businesses contributing, the project reflects our commitment to community engagement, including $60 million in minority spending.

The Cotton Bowl Stadium
DALLAS, TEXAS
The Cotton Bowl is one of the most iconic stadiums in the United States. Beck was the original builder of the Cotton Bowl in 1929, and was responsible for most of the renovations and improvements in the 90s. Originally named the Fair Park Bowl, the stadium was built in a mere four months. The playing surface was developed 24 feet below ground level. The dirt that was removed was put around the edges so that the back seats were 15 feet above the street. It was renamed the Cotton Bowl in 1936, weeks before the first Cotton Bowl was played between TCU and Marquette. The last renovations completed by Beck included enlarging the playing area for soccer games like the World Cup, seating upgrades, replacing the artificial turf with athletic turf and adding a ten-story tower that included restrooms and press boxes.
In the 2000s decade, the renewed dominance of both the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns created a new interest in their rivalry, and the stadium. Temporary stands were erected in each end zone to increase seating for these games from just over 68,000 to 90,000.

USF - Football Stadium
TAMPA, FLORIDA
The Beck Group was retained to assist the University of South Florida with conceptual planning of a new 40,000-50,000 seat football stadium. Working closely with the USF Athletics and Facilities teams, all potential sites on and around campus were explored and vetted against a set of team-defined criteria. After evaluation of all potential sites, it was decided that two “zones” would be studied further. Both zones front Fowler Avenue, one on the east end of campus and the other on the west end. Concurrent with site selection, a project program and budget were established and benchmarked against similar stadiums of quality and scale built in the last 17 years. Both zones were then evaluated for potential impacts to existing land use, infrastructure, parking availability, and campus connectivity.
The Beck Group also provided cost analysis for various stadium scenarios and a cost per seat guidance.

Zone 1 (above) has advantages in several categories. It offers the best connection to the heart of the campus and presents an opportunity to provide a memorable game day experience and tradition, utilizing the natural resources unique to the USF campus. Visibility and branding potential is strong, but not overwhelming.
Zone 2 (right) has a number of positive traits worth considering. This site offers great connection to the already established athletic zone on the main campus. It is possible that new improvements such as parking, road improvements, and public plazas could be utilized for games and events at the Sun Dome. The adjacency to the athletic infrastructure encourages an athletics village with practice facilities, gym, and athletic support offices all within a fairly compact footprint.

PRECONSTRUCTION
Preconstruction is more than cost-estimating to its early engagement for a cost-certain future.
Thanks to evolution in the industry over the last 20 years, owners can engage preconstruction teams much earlier in the design process. We are passionate about offering enhanced preconstruction services because we know the 10x return on investment that additional planning provides during project construction.
Beck preconstruction and construction team members engage in the process to assist the team in establishing an accurate overall project budget and advise on constructibility issues to eliminate impacts to cost and schedule. This allows a greater degree of accurate cost information earlier in the process and affords the opportunity for the team to explore more options and achieve a higher level of design within the established budget.
With innovative technology at the core, we value the foundations of time tested estimating practices, but seek continuous improvement by embracing new technology and more collaborative processes.
Our proprietary Business Intelligence Platform provides a host of preconstruction analytics and insights including historical project cost data and a variety of others to help our teams make informed, data-based decisions.
We leverage leading—edge tools like DESTINI Estimator and AI-supported applications into our daily production environment.

Full-Service Team
We provide a comprehensive suite of sustainability consulting services championed by our in-house sustainability team that is supported by over 35 percent of our technical staff that hold LEED® Accredited Professional status. MASTER PLANNING
Our multi-disciplinary practice allows us to provide comprehensive plans that are strategic and costcertain.
Aligning a master plan with the client’s strategic objectives is our foremost priority. Once those objectives are clearly defined, the Beck team develops a framework that evaluates and proposes a comprehensive vision for existing or future spaces. By analyzing the systems and infrastructure in place, we identify opportunities to maximize operational efficiencies and enable growth in the most fiscally responsible manner. The goal of a master plan is to ensure that our clients possess facilities that not only support their current needs but also enhance their capacity to deliver world-class services and experiences.

INTERIOR DESIGN
More than finishes—our interiors shape experiences, enhance wellbeing, and bring brands to life.
Our Essence. At the heart of our practice, we embrace the art of storytelling, using a narrative to illustrate the journey through tactile, human-scaled spaces. A well-developed interior offers the opportunity for personal connections, creating the backdrops for everyday moments and memories. Our design team believes in efficient and functional space, intuitive wayfinding, and thought-provoking aesthetics that enhance elements of brand immersion, culture, and community.
Our Impact. We are committed to the health, safety, and wellness of the occupants above all else. By prioritizing critical design components including egress, natural light, acoustics, and ergonomics, we are able to enhance user experience and security. We consider the environmental impacts of our selections and how our designs can support physical and emotional wellbeing, regardless of age or ability.
Our Promise. At Beck, we proactively strive for multidisciplinary collaboration, making our interior practice unparalleled when it comes to producing detailed deliverables that protect design intent. Our approach examines holistic solutions for our clients that consider everything from programmatic conceptual ideas to seamless construction actualization. It is our integrated approach that continuously ensures that design excellence remains our focus.
DIVERSITY COMMITMENT
We are committed to advancing our mutual goals of equity and inclusion for our industry, and the communities we serve.
This means hiring, developing, and promoting a diverse workforce while fostering a culture of inclusion. It also means proactively working with minority- and women-owned business enterprises.
We do this because we care. We do this because it allows us to be better innovators and problem-solvers, and to have broader perspectives.
