We create teams across all departments and areas of expertise to work on a common goal – your project

Rooted in the Southeast, we serve clients across the U.S. and Mexico — spanning markets from Seattle to Michigan, Florida to Guadalajara.

FOR MORE THAN A CENTURY

We’ve evolved from a small contracting company in Houston, Texas, to an internationally acclaimed design, architecture, and construction powerhouse

Founded in 1912, The Beck Group is a collaborative team of designers and builders offering planning, architecture, interior design, construction, and sustainability consulting services.

From the first meeting, you will notice Beck’s unique approach to architecture and construction. We create teams across all departments and areas of expertise to work on a common goal— your project. We believe working together results in a better process and outcome.

We build long-term relationships with our clients and bring quality, value and integrity to each project we touch.

CONTEXT CLARITY CRAFT

Beck’s approach to experiential design

Design That Performs. Build That Inspires.

Design must do more than function, it must spark emotion, elevate experience, and endure. Our architecture performs with purpose: flexible enough to adapt, refined enough to delight, and resilient enough to last. We build what we believe in, and we believe that iconic design and operational excellence are inseparable.

Design is Strategy, Not Sequence.

At The Beck Group, we don’t treat cost, constructability, or performance as afterthoughts. They’re active ingredients from day one. Our integrated model aligns design intent with real-world delivery, ensuring that every bold move on paper is buildable, brand-aligned, and on budget. This mindset is essential for delivering high-performance environments that balance guest experience with operational success.

From Design Vision to Architectural Reality

We adapt the five pillars of Design Thinking: Empathy. Define. Ideate. Prototype. Test This process is agile, iterative, and grounded in reality.

Set-Based Thinking, Not Single-Path Design.

We resist premature convergence. Instead, we work in sets, exploring multiple options, evaluating them through constructability, cost, and performance lenses. This is how we make decisions at the Last Responsible Moment, when we know more, not less.

DESIGN-BUILD, REDEFINED

Beck’s Seamless Integration of Design, Preconstruction, and Construction

At Beck, we redefine the traditional design-build model. Our fully integrated approach brings designers, preconstruction experts, and builders together from day one, ensuring seamless collaboration and real-time insights at every phase of the project.

By working as one cohesive team, we ensure our designs are visionary and supported by accurate cost, coordination, and constructability. With everyone aligned on project goals, we deliver designs backed by budgets, schedules, market trends, and historical data—empowering clients to make informed decisions.

This early collaboration leads to smarter, more cost-effective designs and a smoother, faster path to completion—free from the disconnects that often plague traditional processes.

At Beck, we don’t just build; we create with precision, innovation, and a shared vision for success.

GSA Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Building Historic Restoration

ATLANTA, GEORGIA

Constructed in 1931, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Beck’s construction team removed and restored the building’s exterior, provided interior space alterations for new tenants and modernized various building systems that were old and failing.

With no original as-built drawings available, the team began by devising a strategy to overcome the lack of information. The entire building was cloaked in scaffolding, up to nine stories high, for two years in order to refurbish the stone facade. Tenants actively used the building throughout the project.

Several sustainable building practices were used, including the reuse of historical materials. Metal, wood, stone, concrete, drywall, and dirt were diverted from landfills, and sorted and recycled. More than 80 percent of construction waste - 6.5 million pounds - was recycled. The project received LEED Gold certification.

A mission-critical federal office seamlessly integrated into an active campus, combining security, sustainability, and precision execution.

Federal Office Building 107

A federal government client needed to expand its existing high-security campus without disrupting campus operations or employees. Beck’s team designed and built a new nine-story office building housing over 1,000 employees along with an 867-space parking deck expansion. Built to LEED Gold standards for sustainability, the building ties into existing buildings, utility systems, walkways, and driveways. With its integrated project delivery strategy, thorough planning and impact analysis as well as the extensive use of innovative technology, materials and building systems, Beck completed the project on budget and a month ahead of schedule while achieving 100% client satisfaction—all despite $14 million in owner-directed scope changes, a two-month delay in the construction start date due to the city permitting process, and unforeseen ground obstacles.

Purpose-built to advance CDC’s mission with efficiency and resilience, Building 107 delivers high-performance office space designed around sustainability and staff well-being, the building reflects a long-term investment in energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and operational durability—all while supporting one of the nation’s most vital public health agencies.

A historic Atlanta landmark reimagined into a modern, LEED Gold federal facility that blends preservation with high-performance design.

GSA John C. Godbold Federal Building

ATLANTA, GEORGIA

Located in a historic district of Atlanta, this project consists of a 134,000 SF adaptive reuse and rehabilitation of two 1910-era buildings. In addition to adding needed administrative space, part of the scope of work involved linking the two buildings with a tunnel for secure access, adding 24 new underground parking spaces, and providing a new loading dock. Beck delivered a fully integrated architecture and construction team approach to determine how to install a new ground-level steel floor structure while maintaining the four levels of structure above. Using the Revit BIM platform, the team also showed how to install new composite floor decks and preserve the historic heavy wood timber frame while also reinforcing the vulnerable masonry building envelope. The new design addressed modern blast and progressive collapse requirements. The project achieved LEED Gold certification and incorporated sustainable features such as reuse of the existing building, 75% daylighting in the spaces, insulation added to masonry walls, white reflective roof, automatic plumbing fixtures and lights, high use of recycled materials, abatement of asbestos and lead paint, and low-E glazing on all windows.

MELISSA, TEXAS

The new Melissa City Hall was envisioned as a foundation and focal point for this young city. Located on the newly created Main Street, just north of the original center of town, the 2-story building will become the heart of Melissa’s new civic center. Surrounded by retail and municipal functions, the town center will include a large residential component as part of a larger planned community. The adjoining park will become the future home of a farmer’s market and will play host to a wide array of community functions. The hall’s 42,000 SF will accommodate city government and various local services.

Taking cues from the Richardsonian style, the City Hall will be clad in red brick and will have major stone accents and a prominent roof. The council chambers will be located within the large cylinder that is expressed on the exterior and will enjoy an abundance of natural light via the continuous clerestory windows that wrap the cylinder’s parapet.

PRECONSTRUCTION

Preconstruction is more than cost-estimating to its early engagement for a cost-certain future.

Thanks to evolution in the industry over the last 20 years, owners can engage preconstruction teams much earlier in the design process. We are passionate about offering enhanced preconstruction services because we know the 10x return on investment that additional planning provides during project construction.

Beck preconstruction and construction team members engage in the process to assist the team in establishing an accurate overall project budget and advise on constructibility issues to eliminate impacts to cost and schedule. This allows a greater degree of accurate cost information earlier in the process and affords the opportunity for the team to explore more options and achieve a higher level of design within the established budget.

With innovative technology at the core, we value the foundations of time tested estimating practices, but seek continuous improvement by embracing new technology and more collaborative processes.

Our proprietary Business Intelligence Platform provides a host of preconstruction analytics and insights including historical project cost data and a variety of others to help our teams make informed, data-based decisions.

We leverage leading—edge tools like DESTINI Estimator and AI-supported applications into our daily production environment.

With Integrated Estimating, we have continued building on our legacy as multi-disciplinary, technically savvy pioneers with the next generation in model-based estimating and parametric-based cost estimating workflows.

CONSTRUCTION

A Century of Success

Beck has spent a century refining our construction and safety practices. Over the years, we have earned more than 500 construction, design, sustainability, and organization awards. We have set records and shaped city skylines nationwide including the iconic Fountain Place in Dallas, designed by renowned architect I.M. Pei, and Atlantic Center designed by Phillip Johnson.

Client Focused

Most importantly, we have earned the respect, trust and business of our clients. More than 90 percent of our projects serve repeat clients who complete more than 10 projects with us on average. Above all, Beck sustains long-term client relationships because of our dedication and performance. We respond in real-time when problems arise. We remain focused on safely delivering the owner’s vision and architectural design intent on time and within budget. Our success doing so has earned us a sterling reputation for safety and quality.

The Bottom Line

Our clients hire us because we consistently meet deadlines and maintain budgets. We follow through. We get the job done right.

SUSTAINABILITY

Responsive Design

Beck is dedicated to creating high-performing buildings that prioritize human health and wellbeing through a holistic approach to sustainable design. These principles are ingrained in our practice from a project’s inception, weaving responsive design into our architectural ethos. Surpassing traditional elements of environmental stewardship, we integrate elements that profoundly shape human experience.

Record-Setting Experience

As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), our firm has led some of the first and most extensive LEED projects in many categories, including the Wayne N. Aspinall Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in Grand Junction, Colorado. Designed as a site net zero energy project that is also on the National Register of Historic Places, this sustainable renovation project achieved LEED Platinum certification and was an AIA COTE Award Top 10 Green Project.

LEED Proven Provider

With over 170 LEED Certified projects, Beck holds GBCI’s Proven Provider status, ensuring faster reviews and direct access to LEED reviewers. Our experience and consistent excellence in administering LEED projects has earned recognition from the Green Building Certification Institute.

Full-Service Team

We provide a comprehensive suite of sustainability consulting services championed by our in-house sustainability team that is supported by over 35 percent of our technical staff that hold LEED® Accredited Professional status. These efforts are led by Natalie Terrill, National Director of Sustainability, who was honored with the LEED Fellow designation recognizing her mastery of LEED and exceptional contributions to advancing green building practices.

MASTER PLANNING

Our multi-disciplinary practice allows us to provide comprehensive plans that are strategic and costcertain.

Aligning a master plan with the client’s strategic objectives is our foremost priority. Once those objectives are clearly defined, the Beck team develops a framework that evaluates and proposes a comprehensive vision for existing or future spaces. By analyzing the systems and infrastructure in place, we identify opportunities to maximize operational efficiencies and enable growth in the most fiscally responsible manner. The goal of a master plan is to ensure that our clients possess facilities that not only support their current needs but also enhance their capacity to deliver world-class services and experiences.

INTERIOR DESIGN

More than finishes—our interiors shape experiences, enhance wellbeing, and bring brands to life.

Our Essence. At the heart of our practice, we embrace the art of storytelling, using a narrative to illustrate the journey through tactile, human-scaled spaces. A well-developed interior offers the opportunity for personal connections, creating the backdrops for everyday moments and memories. Our design team believes in efficient and functional space, intuitive wayfinding, and thought-provoking aesthetics that enhance elements of brand immersion, culture, and community.

Our Impact. We are committed to the health, safety, and wellness of the occupants above all else. By prioritizing critical design components including egress, natural light, acoustics, and ergonomics, we are able to enhance user experience and security. We consider the environmental impacts of our selections and how our designs can support physical and emotional wellbeing, regardless of age or ability.

Our Promise. At Beck, we proactively strive for multidisciplinary collaboration, making our interior practice unparalleled when it comes to producing detailed deliverables that protect design intent. Our approach examines holistic solutions for our clients that consider everything from programmatic conceptual ideas to seamless construction actualization. It is our integrated approach that continuously ensures that design excellence remains our focus.

DIVERSITY COMMITMENT

We are committed to advancing our mutual goals of equity and inclusion for our industry, and the communities we serve.

This means hiring, developing, and promoting a diverse workforce while fostering a culture of inclusion. It also means proactively working with minority- and women-owned business enterprises.

We do this because we care. We do this because it allows us to be better innovators and problem-solvers, and to have broader perspectives.
