HarrisburgUnit3currentlyserves1,760students, maintainingasteadyenrollmentthatreflectsthe district’songoingcommitmenttobothstabilityand growth.Thestudentbodyrepresentsadiversemix, with84%identifyingasWhite,8%asTwoorMore Races,4%asBlack,and4%asHispanic.While diversitycontinuestoexpand,thedistrict’strue strengthliesinitsinclusivity,ensuringthatevery student,regardlessofbackgroundorcircumstance, receivesequalaccesstoopportunity
Sixty-threepercentofstudentscomefromlowincomefamilies,and23%requirean IndividualizedEducationPlan(IEP)tosupport specializedlearningneeds.Thedistrictalsoserves 16%ofstudentsexperiencinghomelessnessand 1%whoareEnglishlearners.Despitethese challenges,theattendancerateremainsatastrong 90%.
Toaddresschronicabsenteeism,whichcurrently standsat35%,anda9%chronictruancyrate, HarrisburgUnit3recentlylaunchedtargeted interventionsthroughthenewTruants’Alternative andOptionalEducationProgram(TAOEP) grant.Atruancyinterventionistwasalsoaddedthis yeartostrengthenstudentengagement.
Thedistrict’sgraduationratecurrentlysitsat81%, butdatarevealsthatstudentsenrolledinCareerand TechnicalEducation(CTE)coursesgraduateat ratesbetween94and100%,anoutcomedriving ongoinginvestmentinnewCTEprogramsand facilities.
