AFrom The General Manager

daniel.moreno@thebriarclub.com

s we turn the page into fiscal year 2026, I want to take a moment to reflect on recent accomplishments, recognize the dedicated efforts of our team, and share some important updates with you, our valued Members.

First and foremost, congratulations to our Fitness Team for their outstanding performance in the recent triathlon. Your commitment to wellness, teamwork, and excellence is an inspiration to us all.

I am so very proud of all of our staff here at the Club. We are fortunate to have an exceptionally low employee turnover rate, which means you are continually greeted by the same familiar, friendly faces each time you walk through the doors. Club employees are the heart of this operation—their dedication, professionalism, and personal connections with members are what make our community so special.

Behind much of our recent success is the steady leadership of Cathy Staerker, Jon Diller, and Alberto Jimenez. Their managerial talents have not only strengthened their individual departments but have also fostered a deeper sense of community throughout the Club. Thank you for your vision, dedication, and the countless ways you enrich the member experience every day.

As we strive to maintain a welcoming and orderly environment, I’d like to gently remind everyone that compact parking spaces are designated for compact vehicles only. Your cooperation ensures that our parking areas remain accessible and efficient for all members.

This month, we bid a fond farewell to Kari Foster, our Chief Financial Officer. Kari has been an integral part of our leadership team, and while we are sad to see her go, we are excited for her as she embarks on the next step in her professional journey. The search for our next CFO is well underway, and we are confident we will find a leader who will continue to steward our strong financial position. I’m pleased to report that we closed the year fiscally strong—a true testament to the efforts of the entire finance team.

If you attended the 75th Anniversary Party, you’ll want to mark your calendar for the upcoming Briar Ball on November 8th. It promises to be another unforgettable evening. A heartfelt thank-you goes to Jordan Jewett and Blair Shoemaker for their enthusiastic leadership as co-chairs. Their energy and creativity are sure to make this year’s event truly special.

Best,

AFrom The

President

s my term as President draws to a close, I want to express what an honor it has been to serve this remarkable Club. Seeing the dedication of our Members, volunteers, and staff over the past year has been truly inspiring.

I also want to extend my sincere gratitude to our Board of Directors. Their commitment, insight, and countless hours of service have been invaluable in guiding The Briar Club and ensuring that our decisions always reflect the best interests of our Membership. We have three important items on the ballot this season:

• The Campus Plan

• Proposed Bylaws Changes

• Board of Directors

Your voice matters. Please take a few minutes to cast your vote—your participation helps shape the Club’s future.

We are thrilled to share that the Adult Lap Pool has been fully refurbished. With new coping, decking, plaster, and furniture, the space looks better than ever. Be sure to stop by and see the improvements for yourself.

In addition, The Retreat, our new wellness spa, is now open and ready for business. Featuring massage therapy and relaxation services, it has already proven even more popular than anticipated. Book your appointment soon, and experience its rejuvenating atmosphere.

Looking ahead, the holiday season is almost here, and with it comes one of our most beloved traditions. Saturday with Santa will take place on December 13, and reservations will be available soon. This event always brings joy to members of all ages, so I encourage you to secure your spot early.

Thank you again for allowing me the privilege of leading The Briar Club. I’m confident our community will continue to thrive as we move forward together.

Sincerely,

F un Around

A WORD FROM OUR DIRECTOR

Dear Members,

Over the past few months, I’ve received several great questions regarding our membership categories and procedures. I thought it would be helpful to share the most common ones with you here.

Q: What’s the difference between Senior and Senior Social Membership?

Senior Member

A Senior Membership is available to Equity Resident Members who:

• Have reached the senior age requirement (as determined by the Board, currently 65)

• Have been an Equity Resident Member in good standing for 10 or more consecutive years Upon converting to a Senior Membership

• The Equity member forfeits Equity in the Club

• Monthly Dues: 60% of what Equity Members pay

Senior Social Member

A Senior Social Member is someone who joins the Club at age 65 or older

• This category does not have Equity or Equity privileges

• Monthly Dues: $10 less than Equity Members pay

Q: I’m an Equity Member and interested in becoming a Senior Member. What are the next steps?

Please reach out to Membership Director, Linda Benson. Before any reclassification is processed, we want to be sure all of your questions are answered.

Q: Can a Senior Social Member convert to Senior?

No. Based on the qualifications listed above, a Senior Social Member is not eligible to convert to Senior.

Q: What does it mean if my category is “Awaiting Equity”?

If a waitlist exists when a Junior Member reaches the conversion age (35), they are placed into the Awaiting Equity category until a full Equity Resident Membership becomes available. While in this category:

• Members must pay dues, minimums, assessments, and other fees as determined by the Board

• Members are eligible to vote and enjoy all benefits of Club membership

• Members cannot serve on the Board until they fully convert to Equity

Q: I’ve seen new Member announcements—aren’t we on a waitlist?

Yes, we have been on an Equity waitlist since April 2022.

• When you see new Equity Members announced, it’s because a resignation or Equity-to-Senior reclassification has created space, allowing the next person on the waitlist to join.

Q: Are Junior or Senior Social Memberships on a waitlist?

No. Those Membership categories do not have a waitlist.

Q: Why are we including photos and Membership categories in the new Member emails?

Per our Bylaws under Member Review of Applicant:

• The name, residence, and occupation of each applicant, along with the names of their sponsoring Members, must be posted for at least ten (10) days prior to final approval by the Board.

• At the beginning of this year, the Board of Directors requested that we add applicant photos and categories.

I hope these Q&As have helped clarify a few things! If you have further questions, please know my door is always open. I’m more than happy to assist however I can.

As we approach the end of the year, I want to take a moment to thank you—our amazing Members—for your continued support and referrals.

I’ll see you around the Club!
