I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday season. One trend we noticed at the Club this year—perhaps one many of you experienced as well—is that Members are traveling more than in previous years. After speaking with several other Club managers, this appears to be a broader trend as well. Looking ahead, 2026 promises to be an exciting year for the Club. The Retreat continues to thrive, the Adult Lap Pool looks fantastic, and we are actively developing plans to update the Fitness Locker Rooms in the near future. The year 2025 was about much more than day-to-day Club operations. We are grateful to Cathy Staerker for organizing the Shoes for Souls drive; Linda Benson for leading our holiday food drive benefiting the Houston Food Bank; and Nikki Wilson for coordinating our employee volunteer event, during which sack lunches were prepared for Kids’ Meals Houston. Additional thanks go to Chef Michael Powell and our Executive Pastry Chef Gracie Nguyen for creating the gingerbread house delivered to MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital. as part of Houston’s private Clubs’ holiday gingerbread display. For those who were unable to attend the Annual Meeting, the Club concluded the 2025 fiscal year in a very strong financial position. The Club’s loan balance has been reduced to $6.8 million, reflecting an additional $1 million payment made at the end of October, above and beyond the amounts already budgeted for loan repayment. From an operational standpoint, the Club generated just under $21 million in revenue. Including non-operational revenue, total revenue reached $24 million. These are remarkable figures for a Club that operates without a golf course and on just 5.5 acres. This performance also reflects strong and consistent member engagement and usage. The Briar Club is deeply proud of its Membership and the community that defines our Club. To preserve the dignity and standards of the Club, a new membership application process will be implemented beginning in 2026. This updated process will include a more thorough vetting of Prospective Members. As part of the new requirements, Prospective Members will attend a Membership Cocktail Reception, during which the sponsoring Member must be present to introduce the applicant to the Membership Committee and the Board of Directors. This occasion, along with other application materials, will allow us to better understand each applicant and their alignment with the values and culture of The Briar Club. Membership in The Briar Club is a privilege and should be regarded as such. We seek individuals who are genuinely committed to the values, community, and long-term wellbeing of the Club. I would like to especially recognize our Maintenance Team, led by Jesse Pizano, Director of Facilities. I believe all of our department leaders at the Club would agree that Jesse and his team consistently go above and beyond to ensure all issues are addressed promptly and with care. A great example of their dedication is the holiday train, which I hope you all enjoyed. Just two weeks before the tree lighting, I approached Jesse with the idea of creating a train display for the children. At the time, we did not own any materials. Jesse immediately got to work and, in less than a week, built the train set now featured in the Lobby. What began as a simple idea has quickly become a new holiday tradition that Members can look forward to each year. Thank you, Jesse, for your hard work, creativity, and continued dedication to our beautiful Club. Thank you all for another great year, and here’s to a wonderful 2026! My door is always open.

2026 PRESIDENT BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Dear Members – Happy New Year, I hope you have all enjoyed a wonderful holiday season. I’m pleased to step into the role as President and am excited about the year ahead for our Club. Our family has many wonderful touch points at The Club, from our children (ages 5 and 7) through to my parents who joined the Club as Senior Members when they moved to Houston a few years ago (I will refrain from sharing their ages). If we haven’t had an opportunity to meet yet, we are on campus frequently and I hope we have a chance to do so soon. Our Club begins the year again on a solid foundation, from a banner year of diverse offerings and record member engagement. While many helped contribute to the successful year across the Club, I’d like to take the opportunity to express gratitude for a few in particular. First, our Club owes sincere thanks to Marian Hilpert for her stewardship as this year’s outgoing president. Marian worked tirelessly on behalf of Membership and management to ensure continuity of the things we love most about The Briar Club, while dedicating considerable effort towards planning for the Club’s long-term future. I would also like to thank Meredith Marshall, Scott Dorfman, and Sergio Amelio for their years of service on the board and dedication to the Club – each cares genuinely about The Briar Club community, and it was a pleasure working with and getting to know them on the Board. If you see Marian, Meredith, Scott or Sergio around campus, I hope you will join me in expressing gratitude for their contributions. I would also be remiss not to welcome the newest addition to the management team, Kim McClaine, who recently joined as the Club’s Chief Financial Officer. Kim brings a deep breadth of experience to the team and we are lucky to have her join. If you didn’t have a chance to meet Kim at the welcome event in early December, I hope you’ll take the time to say hello when you see her on campus, as well. As we think about the year ahead, the Board will continue to support Daniel and the rest of The Briar Club team in their commitment to excellence, which shines evidently throughout the Club. We are blessed to have a management team and board that constantly evaluate ways to improve on the everyday Member experiences. With the feedback from this past year, we will also be reviewing revisions to improve the Campus Plan. While the plan may change in scope, it will not change in intention – to upgrade Club spaces and facilities that are in need of attention and to thoughtfully maximize our existing footprint to best serve our active Membership across all categories. We anticipate putting forth a revised plan that is impactful, reflective of feedback and has broad appeal across the Club. We appreciate your constructive participation as we continue to navigate this process. While there are countless things that make The Briar Club unique, our community is at the top of that list for me. If you’ve been a Member at the Club for awhile, I’d ask that you make an effort to seek out and welcome newer Members; and if you’ve just joined the Club more recently, I’d invite you to get involved in any of our Club programming that might be of interest – there’s a lot to choose from! Please reach out to Daniel, Board or committee members, Department Heads or me to share any positives you see around the Club or any ways we can improve the Member experience. POLAR BEAR SWIM COMPETITION DECEMBER 1 - FEBRUARY 28 The Club is currently hosting our annual Polar Bear Swimming Competition! This is an endurance race where swimmers will log their total distances swum at The Club each day. This year, we will be implementing a new reward system: for every 10,000m swum in The Club pools during the competition, the Member will receive one entry into a raffle for a grand prize of a $500 gift card for use at The Briar Club! We will hold the grand prize drawing at the Spring Adult Lap Swimmer Social, and you must be in attendance to win! All participants in the contest who swim at least 10,000m over three months will be eligible for the drawing! Congratulations to last year’s winner, Clark Lord, who swam a total of 253,000 meters over the course of the three-month competition! 15 | JANUARY - MARCH 2026

The Briar Club Gives Back
Giving back is an important part of who we are at The Briar Club, and this season we were proud to support our community through hands-on service with Kids’ Meals Houston and by contributing to the beloved Gingerbread Village at MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital. Our team volunteered with Kids’ Meals Houston, packing lunch bags to help ensure children across Houston receive a healthy meal each weekday. Kids’ Meals is a local nonprofit dedicated to ending childhood hunger by delivering free, nutritious lunches to preschool-aged children who face food insecurity. During school holidays all schoolaged children are provided meals, and we are proud to support their mission.

The Briar Club was honored to participate in MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital’s special gingerbread display. Hand-built by skilled pastry teams from several Houston private clubs, the whimsical gingerbread village brings smiles to patients, families, and visitors while showcasing incredible creativity and care. After the holidays, children in residence are able to smash the displays for a fun end to the holiday season!

Hello Briar Club Members, I’m excited to introduce myself as your new Chief Financial Officer. My name is Kim McClaine and I’m grateful for the warm welcome I’ve already received from the team and the Membership. The Briar Club is clearly a special place—built on tradition, community, and an exceptional Member experience. I’m energized to join the Club during a period of strong momentum and high demand, and I’m especially impressed by the dedication and professionalism of our staff who bring The Club to life every day. As CFO, my role is to be a responsible steward of the Club’s financial health and resources so we can continue delivering the experiences you value—today and for generations to come. That means a focus on: Clear, transparent reporting to support sound decision-making Thoughtful financial planning for capital needs and long-term improvements Strong controls and operational discipline so we can invest wisely and protect the Club Over the coming weeks, I’ll be meeting with department leaders and listening closely to better understand what matters most to you as Members.
