INTRODUCTION

Thanks for buying the book!

We’re delighted to be bringing you the SECOND quiz book of games for you to play at home with your friends and family. You probably know how it works by now: the questions don’t test what you know but are about how your brain actually works. They test logic and common sense so everyone has an equal chance at getting them right. And just like on the TV show, every question in this book has been tested on a big survey of the country to see what percentage it is — so you get a chance to win bragging rights over all your friends and family!

We are Dean and Andy, the creators of the show, and one of the many things that we’ve loved over the last few years is watching other versions of The 1% Club spring up all around the world. It's funny to think that there are now so many people in so many different countries all trying to get into The 1% Club. Fifteen versions have been made so far — so we thought it would be fun to translate some of the questions they’ve done and have put a few of them in the games in this book.

There are also some bonus Christmas questions as we found that with the first book people seemed to love playing the games with their friends and families around the Christmas table. What could go wrong?! So we’ve put some special Christmas-themed games together for you to play as well as the normal games. Play nicely!

The 1% Club is now in its fifth series in the UK and we absolutely LOVE that so many of you watch it on TV. Thank you.

Right, time for some questions . . . So, get competitive, get thinking and see if you can join The 1% Club.

Good luck!

Dean and Andy x

HOW TO PLAY

Each game has 15 questions that get progressively harder, starting with a question that 90% of the country can answer, down to a question that only 1% of the country can answer. Just like in the TV show, we sent all the questions within the book to be surveyed by a large cross-section of Britain. So you can rest assured that if you are able to answer the 1% questions within the book, you are officially a member of The 1% Club!

Whether you are playing by yourself or with friends and family, get your timer ready so that you can set a 30-second time limit for each question. When they are tested in our surveys, people get 30 seconds to answer – so that’s the best way to play them.

There are 15 questions per game, the first one 90% of the country can answer, the second 80% of the country can answer, and so on, down to the final question which only 1% of the country can answer. Obviously don’t look until you’ve tried the question, but all answers and explanations are given at the end of each game – so you can check and see how you did.

It’s pretty easy to play if you want to do it like the TV show. If you are playing in a group, then you can choose one person per game to be the quiz host to read out each question, then hold up the book to show the page to the players for them to look at the clues, set the timer for 30 seconds and away you go. If you want to play it really seriously, then we recommend each player writes their answers down. The quiz host can ask each player to give their answer and verify these against the answers given at the end of each game. If players get it wrong, they’re out of the game. The person left in at the end of each game, whether they make it to the 1% question or not, is the winner. And by getting the furthest they get the bragging rights and the chance to answer The 1% Club question.

There are 30 games in this book, plus two Christmas games, so there are loads of chances to test yourself however you prefer to play – whether it’s like the TV show or whether it’s by yourself having a go at each question.

Have fun!
