Smith & Wesson ® continues its legacy of innovation with two new additions to the M&P ® lineup, engineered for shooters who demand uncompromising performance. These pistols are designed to deliver superior control, precision, and speed— whether on the range or in competition.
Built on a full-size stainless steel Armornite ® frame, the M&P9 Metal HD is a powerhouse of durability and refinement. A 5-inch stainless steel barrel, paired with a stainless Armornite slide, provides exceptional strength and corrosion resistance.
Enhanced ergonomics come through aggressive slide and frame texturing for ultimate control, while the flat-faced trigger and metal overtravel stop deliver a crisp, consistent break. Night Fision ® night sights and a ClearSight cut optimize visibility, and the M&P ® C.O.R.E. optics mount system ensures seamless integration for today’s most popular red dots. Every detail—from vertical serrations to the additional frame texture—reflects Smith & Wesson’s commitment to precision and shooter confidence.
For those who live for the podium, the M&P ® 2.0 Competitor ® HD sets a new standard in competition-ready performance. Featuring a spiral-fluted stainless steel barrel and slide lightening cuts, this pistol is engineered for speed and balance. The heavy-duty stainless frame minimizes recoil, while the extended magazine release and external magwell enable lightning-fast reloads.
HI-VIZ ® Litewave H3 ® Tritium/Litepipe sights provide rapid target acquisition, and the included four 17-round magazines ensure you’re ready for any stage. With aggressive texturing, vertical serrations, and the M&P ® C.O.R.E. optics system, the Competitor HD is a complete package for serious competitors who demand precision and control.
Both models embody Smith & Wesson’s relentless pursuit of excellence—combining rugged durability with modern enhancements for shooters who refuse to compromise. Visit us at SHOT Show to see how these new M&P ® pistols redefine performance.

Win The Day
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 48th annual SHOT Show. This week at The Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with more than 2,700 companies ready and eager to do business with you. On behalf of NSSF—the Firearm Industry Trade Association and owner of the SHOT Show—I want to personally thank you for being here and contributing to the show’s success. Your attendance supports NSSF’s critical work to advocate, educate, and communicate on behalf of the entire firearm industry.
The strength of our industry will be on full display this week. Coming together as manufacturers, wholesalers, retail buyers, importers, publishers, and non-profit organizations, the passion we have for the Second Amendment, shooting sports, hunting, and real firearm safety solutions unites all of us.
Even in softer markets—like the one we’re experiencing now—there are opportunities for new business. Your investment and attendance here in Las Vegas this week will put you in the pole position to win the season ahead. Not only are there thousands of new products on display across the SHOT Show, but there are also further connections to be made at the two-day Supplier Showcase, nightly networking events (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday [5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.] at the Great Outdoors Plaza at Caesars Forum), and SHOT University presentations.
2026 is a special year for both SAAMI and NSSF. This year, SAAMI (the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute) celebrates its centennial. Founded at the request of the federal government in 1926, SAAMI has been the undisputed leader in its mission to create and publish technical, performance, and safety standards for firearms, ammunition, suppressors, and their components. It also provides regulatory and logistics guidance and represents industry-specific interests at the United Nations and elsewhere. Here in 2026, I’m proud to say SAAMI has delivered on its goals and continues to elevate safety standards across the industry.
Recognizing there was a need for a public-facing organization to promote, protect, and preserve hunting and the shooting sports, SAAMI was influential in founding NSSF in 1961–65 years ago. Today, NSSF has more tools at its disposal than ever before to grow interest in hunting and the shooting sports. Ultimately, this endeavor drives interest and customers to your brand or storefront.
Over the past year, NSSF has been very successful with its consumer-facing efforts, including its LetsGoShooting.org and LetsGoHunting.org websites and social media channels. These programs achieved record engagement in 2025, and they’re going to continue growing in 2026. From introductory tips to insights on sporting clays or information on the top-rated mobile apps to sharpen skills, LetsGoShooting has resources for new and experienced shooters alike. LetsGoHunting is a powerful hub of information for hunters looking to hunt new game, learn more about apprenticeship, to stay up to date on hunting laws and regulations, and more.
If your organization or company wants to join in NSSF’s efforts to encourage responsible mentorship in local communities through our +ONE initiative, let us know. We’d love to work with your organization to grow the shooting sports and hunting. As the saying goes, “a rising tide lifts all boats.”
I’m proud of NSSF’s strong track record of providing a variety of programs and services designed to amplify your business and advance our industry’s best interests on Capitol Hill and in state capitals across the U.S. Last year, Don’t Lie for the Other Guy (DontLie.org) celebrated its 25th anniversary. The partnerships this program—along with other NSSF-led efforts, like Project ChildSafe—have fostered over the years are vital. Today, I can assure you the NSSF team is as passionate as ever to make a difference for our industry.
This is my 27th SHOT Show, and seventh representing NSSF. There’s nothing like having the entire industry together under one roof. Take advantage of the unlimited possibilities in front of you this week. Win each day and win the week to position yourself for the winner’s circle in the year ahead.
Here’s to another excellent show!

KIDS & CLAYS TOPS $5 MILLION FOR CRITICALLY ILL CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES
What started with a single sporting clay event 27 years ago to help critically ill children and their families, the Kids & Clays Foundation has grown into a leading national organization benefiting hundreds of thousands of families each year. In 2025, it again reached $5 million from 46 events for the second year in a row.
The Kids & Clays Foundation supports a national series of clay shooting events and one fishing tournament with proceeds benefiting participating Ronald McDonald House Chapters (RMHC). Ronald McDonald Houses provide housing and other help to critically ill children and their families from coast to coast.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has been a key sponsor and advocate of the Kids & Clays Foundation since its inception in 1999. NSSF is a Kids & Clays National Sponsor in addition to being the leading sponsor of events in Connecticut, New York, and across the country.
“When you support Kids & Clays, you are helping children and their families at a time when they need it the most,” says Chris Dolnack, NSSF senior vice-president and CMO. “This is simply a cause we must support and encourage all companies to get involved. Every dollar donated to Kids & Clays, whether it be cash or product, makes a great difference in the lives of many. I’d encourage all our outdoor partners to support this organization called the ‘shining star’ of our industry.”
Founded in 1999 by McDonald owner-operators Glenn and Kathy Lubeznik from Michigan City, Indiana, the first Kids & Clays Foundation/RMHC event raised $15,800 for Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana RMHC. In 2025, the Kids & Clays Foundation series of events grew to 46 in 23 states and has raised more than $45 million to date to help critically ill children and their families.
“Kids & Clays success and support of Ronald McDonald Houses is made possible by the incredible help of many key companies and individuals within our outdoor community,” says Jason Nash, Federal Ammunition vice-president of marketing and president of Kids & Clays. “Our events are proof about how shooting enthusiasts are making a large difference in the lives of families from coast to coast. We can’t thank our partners in the outdoor community enough.”
Kids & Clays also relies heavily on sponsors from restaurant suppliers to McDonalds Corporation and other non-outdoor companies to fulfill its mission. Sponsors at SHOT Show include Baron Engraving (Booth #12801), Browning (Booth #10938), Federal Ammunition (Booth #10521), Mossberg (Booth #12832), Ruger (Booth #72327), Savage (Booth #12821), and Winchester (Booth #11828). kidsandclays.com

This familiarity helps build muscle memory, with accuracy and timing feedback further enhancing training. It is fully adjustable, allowing shooters to increase proficiency with sight acquisition, trigger control, transitions, and accuracy.
“The Flash Bolt represents a true leap forward in dry-fire training, giving shooters the tools they need to improve performance,” says Kristen Wilson Day, Laser Ammo’s marketing manager. “We’ve seen great results with the Flash Bolt among shooters of all skill levels, and it has been rewarding watching our mission with this product take shape—allowing users to train safely, effectively, and confidently with their own rifles.”
The Flash Bolt is compatible with AR platforms chambered in a variety of calibers, including 9mm, .223/5.56, and 300 AAC Blackout. In addition, the Flash Bolt is available in both red or infrared laser options, for training with all different targets, simulators, and other software on the market, and it does not require an electric magazine, allowing for users to train on magazine changes.
An adjustable trigger with a set of shims enables users to customize the trigger pull and reset sensitivity to their preference. This feature allows competitive shooters to shoot extremely fast with a very light trigger. Finally, it works flawlessly with Laser Ammo’s reactive targets and the Smokeless Range to provide a comprehensive training experience. SRP: $229.95.

SPORTS SOUTH THRIVES ON SERVICE
Integrity. Family. Tradition. Drive. These are the principles that for over 180 years have driven Sports South through five generations of Dickson family leadership with one sole focus—distribution. In 1841, two Welsh immigrants opened an apothecary shop in the rural township of Shreveport, Louisiana. In its earliest days, the business supplied firearms and ammunition to pioneering farmers, soldiers, and lawmen. Early ads from the 1800s document the fledgling company selling muzzleloaders, shotguns, and pistols, along with everything else the pioneer was likely to need to survive in a frontier town: quinine to fight malaria, mustard to make plasters, and ammunition to fight varmints, scoundrels, and scalawags.
Today the family tradition continues with two distribution companies; Sports South, LLC, represents the sporting goods industry and Morris & Dickson Co., LLC, represents the pharmaceutical industry. Every day, Sports South meets the challenges set forth by its founding fathers by providing the right product to the right place at the right time.
As the country’s oldest and largest distributor of firearms, ammunition, and accessories, Sports South maintains its leadership position through the relentless pursuit of new ideas and new thinking in order to drive long-term success and growth. With the nation’s largest concentration of shooting sports inventory from all the leading manufacturers under one roof, Sports South can deliver unmatched distribution services to its customers.
Sports South is a family company, and these values permeate its culture to all its employees and its customers. Hard work, education, and hands-on involvement, along with the assured well-being and livelihood of hundreds of employees, reinforce the company's dedication to its origin. Photo To Price In Seconds
AI
technology instantly prices used firearms from a single photo—including condition, market value, and descriptions—in seconds.
Although new firearms deliver razor-thin margins of around 12 percent, savvy retailers know the real money is in used guns, where profit margins can reach up to 54 percent. The challenge? Accurate, confident pricing that maximizes both turnover and profit.
THE TRADITIONAL STRUGGLE
Most retailers rely on outdated blue books, gut instincts, or time-consuming online research to price used inventory. This leads to two costly problems: underpricing (leaving money on the table) or overpricing (slow-moving inventory that ties up cash flow). With used guns having no fixed wholesale cost, every pricing decision directly impacts your bottom line.
ENTER AI-POWERED PHOTO TECHNOLOGY
Bravo Store Systems’ new AI Estimator tool changes everything. Simply photograph any used firearm, and within seconds receive a condition assessment (AI analyzes wear patterns, finish quality, and mechanical condition with trained precision), market-based pricing (real-time valuation based on current market data, not outdated reference books), professional descriptions (automatically generated product descriptions highlighting key selling points, sent directly to your point of sale), and confidence scoring (know exactly how reliable each appraisal is).
BUILDING RETAILER CONFIDENCE
Early users report faster inventory decisions and improved confidence in their pricing strategies. The technology removes the guesswork from used gun acquisitions, helping retailers make more informed buying and pricing decisions.
BUILT DIFFERENT: TRUE ALL-IN-ONE PLATFORM
This isn't just a pricing tool; it’s part of Bravo Store Systems’ purpose-built retail solution. Unlike competitors who cobble together separate systems for ATF compliance, inventory management, and point of sale, Bravo builds everything from the ground up as one unified platform. When ATF auditors come calling or systems break down, you work with one team that understands your entire operation. No finger pointing between vendors. No compliance gaps between systems. No risking your FFL over disconnected solutions.
WHY THIS MATTERS FOR YOUR BUSINESS
In an industry where regulatory compliance can make or break your livelihood, you can't afford to trust your business to a patchwork of different vendors and systems. One missed sync between your inventory and compliance systems could cost you your license. Bravo's unified platform e nsures your AI pricing, inventory tracking, and ATF reporting all work together seamlessly because they were designed together.
THE BOTTOM LINE
In an industry where new gun sales face increasing pressure, used firearms represent your best profit opportunity. But only if you can price them right, move them fast, and maximize every margin dollar.
THE BRAVO DIFFERENCE
Bravo Store Systems has been serving independent retailers with purposebuilt software solutions designed specifically for the firearms industry. The Bravo team understands the unique challenges of running an FFL business— from complex ATF regulations to the nuances of used gun pricing. That's why Bravo doesn’t just build software; it builds partnerships with retailers who need technology that actually works for their business, not against it. The future of profitable used gun retail is here. And it starts with a photo. Booth #72246 bravostoresystems.comans

THE FUTURE OF SHORT RANGE RECONNAISSANCE
Born from American ingenuity and built for today’s battlefield, the Black Widow™ is a symbol of U.S. strength, innovation, and resilience. By providing real-time, actionable intelligence, the Black Widow™ helps protect soldiers and enhance mission success.
The national campaign bolsters NSSF suicide prevention efforts.
The idea was to create a campaign to amplify the message of securely storing guns and to deliver a sticky reminder— “Make Sure It’s Secure”—about preventing unwanted access to firearms.
And so Gun Storage Check Week was born as a program of NSSF, The Firearm Industry Trade Association. Since launching in 2024, Gun Storage Check Week has been embraced nationwide, with its message of “Make Sure It’s Secure” reaching millions of gun owners.
“NSSF and Gun Storage Check Week are not advocating a one-size-fits-all firearm storage practice,” says Joe Bartozzi, NSSF President and CEO. “We’re saying, consider your storage—check on it— and see if it’s doing the job of keeping your guns out of unauthorized hands. There are lots of storage devices out there—lock boxes, gun safes for homes and vehicles, gun locks, lockable gun cases—that can meet a person’s security needs. And some provide quick access, if that’s important to you.
“Periodically, it’s a good thing to check on how we store our guns. Your home environment may have changed in recent years. Maybe you’ve acquired more firearms; maybe there are toddlers or teens to be concerned about or older people now part of your family that shouldn’t have access to firearms. Maybe it’s time for a different storage device, or devices, to keep your home safe. Or maybe your check reveals you’ve got secure storage covered, which is great.”
Gun Storage Check Week is observed twice a year—from June 1-7 during National Safety Month and September 1-7 during National Suicide Prevention Month. Its purpose is to help reduce firearm accidents, suicides, and thefts.
Firearm industry companies, affiliated organizations, and law enforcement partners with NSSF’s Project ChildSafe program have used their considerable reach to help NSSF establish the campaign and deliver the “Check your storage/Make Sure It’s Secure” reminder. NSSF provides social media posts, print ads, audio public service announcements, and other graphics in the promotional toolkit at GunStorageCheck.org to help get the word out.
NSSF’s 2025 June and September campaigns included digital billboard advertising in more than 30 large and small metro areas, extensive social media advertising and digital audio PSAs on podcasts and radio shows to reach gun owners, totaling more than 25 million ad impressions. These campaigns also let non-gun owners know that the industry is working hard to reduce the misuse of firearms.
PREVENTING SUICIDE
Gun Storage Check Week adds to NSSF’s efforts to build awareness of how anyone, without any special training, can help prevent suicide. To begin with, it’s important to know that suicide is preventable—that it’s not inevitable, a common misconception.
Everyone goes through difficult periods in life, and too often we’re reluctant to talk about mental health struggles or seek treatment for them. NSSF is saying it’s okay to ask for help. NSSF encourages knowing about warning signs like depression, substance/alcohol abuse and significant mood changes, how to have a “brave conversation” with someone you’re concerned about, knowing the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and understanding the necessity of preventing access to firearms by someone who’s struggling.
Consider, too, that the decision to take one’s life is often made in 60 minutes or less. Although firearms don’t cause suicide, an attempt with a firearm is fatal 90 percent of the time. If during a crisis access to firearms is prevented, it’s unlikely a substitute means will be sought, but if one is, the person is more likely to survive an attempt. Of those who survive an attempt, only about 10 percent later die by suicide.
Interruption of access allows time for immediate thoughts of suicide to pass and for a person to get the care they deserve. With that in mind, it’s easy to see why secure storage is a lifesaving action.
If it’s the gun owner who is at risk of suicide, have a family member or friend hold the key or combination to a locking device. Or have a friend or firearm retailer temporarily hold firearms for them— after consulting your state firearm transfer laws— until they are better. With 58 percent of firearmrelated fatalities being suicide deaths and 74 percent
By Bill Brassard
of veteran suicides involving a firearm, the firearm community can do its part to help save lives. And it can be accomplished without losing the right to own firearms.
In addition to Gun Storage Check Week, NSSF addresses suicide prevention with programs like “Have a Brave Conversation” that provide a free suicide prevention toolkit to firearm retailers and shooting ranges. And through the website BraveConversation.org. NSSF maintains partnerships with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs. With its unassailable dedication to protecting Second Amendment rights, NSSF can overcome resistance by gun owners to learning about suicide and firearms that other groups encounter.
COLLABORATION AND INSPIRATION
Gun Storage Check Week was inspired by conversations at VA-NSSF Roundtables that brought together representatives from the firearm industry, the VA, suicide prevention organizations, and mental health experts to explore how industry and gun owners could help broadly expand education about suicide prevention.
NSSF has also developed a 988 hangtag for gun locks, a suicide prevention information card for manufacturers to include with products, and “Make Sure It’s Secure” stickers for safety device manufacturers and consumers.
The most far-reaching campaign, however, is Gun Storage Check Week, which carves out two weeks each year to remind gun owners to simply check on their storage practices to reveal whether they are up to the job of preventing unwanted access. Sometimes all it takes is a mantra like “Make Sure It’s Secure” to inspire lifesaving changes to storage habits.

Performance That Stands the Test of Time
Helpful Strategy
By Slaton L. White
Line extensions are an important component of a manufacturer’s product mix.
There’s no question that new products are the driving force in this industry; they garner the most attention in the media, and they attract customers to retail outlets. But the industry has a helpful strategy up its sleeve to help keep retailers and consumers coming back for more—line extensions. Line extensions are add-ons to existing product lines. One important aspect of line extensions is they allow a manufacturer to update a product line with ideal timing—and often without a massive investment in R&D.
“Line extensions are very important to us,” says Dan Compton, Federal’s shotshell and rimfire product director. “The R&D investment in a line extension will vary greatly depending on what it is. For rimfire, most line extensions are additions to a product line that add a new bullet option (typically grain weight) or a cartridge, like adding .22 LR to our HammerDown product line designed for hunting with lever-action rifles, which first launched in just several centerfire cartridges only, and now has a rimfire option. For shotshell, most line extensions are additions to a product line that add a new payload weight, velocity, hull size, shot size, or gauge. Adding a new packaging option, like a new bulk pack option, is also considered a line extension.”
In essence, line extensions help a manufacturer strategically build on its offerings. Here, Compton cites the company’s approach with Federal Premium Ultra Steel. “In the first year [2024], we only released 3-inch 12- and 20-gauge loads. This represents a majority of what we know hunters prefer. In year two [2025], we added 3.5-inch 12- and 10-gauge loads to the family. Going forward, we will continue to add additional shotshell loads to round out the product line based on the evolving needs of our customers.”
Compton notes that the company could have launched 3.5-inch 12and 10-gauge loads in the first year of Ultra Steel, but it wanted to first see how the initial product was received. That allowed Compton and his team to use the time and resources to focus on other product offerings for that calendar year.
As beneficial as line extensions are, they aren’t automatic home runs. Occasionally, consumers won’t accept the extension. “There is always a risk of wasted time and cost if the extension isn’t truly needed,” says Mike Holm, Federal’s centerfire rifle product director. “If you make an addition to the product line too soon, you can make older, yet still great products seem outdated. Also, consumers may love the product as is, and now you have given them an excuse to evaluate other products.”
To Holm, the value of a line extension is an ability to “build on a lineup to stay current with consumer needs in a given product line or usage category. Doing so also allows us to evolve a current product line in order to elevate its performance, thus making it new again.”
For example, Federal’s line extensions of Gold Medal Berger in 6mm ARC and Terminal Ascent in 300 RUM in 2025 played to those cartridges being in hot demand by hunters and shooters.
And though line extensions typically don’t command a large R&D budget, cost factors have to be considered. “A new bullet caliber within a current bullet product line can be a pretty straightforward development or very complex and time-consuming,” he says. For example, Federal’s line extensions of Hydra-Shok Deep in .32 H&R and .45 Colt
each have their own bullets that needed to be designed and built from the ground up.
In the shotgun arena, a new gauge may take a lot of R&D time. “It depends on how close it is to other products we do today,” says Compton. “New wads always take time to develop, test, and industrialize.” For example, it was not that simple to convert Federal’s Podium Wad in their High Over All competition target loads when they added 20-gauge line extensions.
According to Compton, go/no-go decisions “are driven by our product line managers in their respective categories. They will look at volume, potential revenue, and brand importance. If it looks good to us, we will put it on our product roadmaps and the engineering team will work from that. The roadmap will dictate the year in which we are looking to launch the product and gives them timing to prioritize resources.” Booth #11828 federalpremium.com
NEW COMPOSITE HEAT RELEASE TECHNOLOGY
The science behind a new breed of barrels
For firearms manufacturers, thermal management, durability, and weight are crucial factors in overall barrel performance. Composite Heat Release technology uses a patent-pending combination of ceramic and carbon fiber reinforced composite materials, which are custom formulated and applied to manufacturer-supplied barrel blanks. The end result: barrels that weigh less, heat slower, and cool faster than traditional steel or carbon-wrapped steel barrels.
At Avient, we don’t make barrels, we make your barrels better.
Curious about Composite Heat Release? Find out more at avient.com/shooting-sports or call 1.844.4AVIENT.
Retailers that have in-house ranges (or access to an offsite range) have a competitive advantage over operations that lack such a feature. Having access to a range allows your customers to do a test drive of a prospective firearm, thus increasing the chances of a sale—and even an upgrade. Mobile Range Technologies, based in Henrietta, Texas, offers a series of modular firing ranges and mobile trailer firing ranges focused on design, development, and technology while integrating technology innovations driving low total ownership cost and value for your investment.
“MRT ranges are offered in mobile, modular, and panel styles to fit your shooting application or facility,” says sales representative John Ater. “All are configured to run on standard 50–100-amp single-phase power, but each offers unbelievably efficient HEPA air-recirculating filtration, complete with A/C and heat. They’re also insulated with one inch of drywall to reduce exterior noise and include two inches of acoustic foam on the ceiling from the firing line forward to dampen sound inside the range.”
“Regardless of how many firing lanes your MRT is configured for, your shooters will enjoy the experience in maximum comfort—with ample room for reloading on shooter shelves, top-quality hard-rail target-retrieval systems with state-of-the-art control pads, bright LED lighting, and durable rubber flooring in all mobile and modular ranges. When you want the rugged dependability of a MRT range, but long for portability, this is your range.”
One example of MRT’s mobile ranges is the Road Runner, a 40-foot mobile shooting range built inside of a single use (one-trip) high-cube container set on a standard chassis trailer. It offers an impressive lineup of applications, including training, corporate events, or parties, but is economical enough for personal use.
Using only a 50-amp single-phase power hookup (like a typical RV), the Road Runner can even be run in remote locations on a generator to literally become a self-contained shooting range that can be set up virtually anywhere. The standard Road Runner is configured as a two-lane seven-yard pistol shooting range, but it can be upgraded to a rifle shooting range. Options include a generator and a turning target retrieval system. Another example is the Road King. Built inside of a 53-foot dry van trailer, it offers the highest level of on-demand portability.
“Owners of MRT ranges will appreciate the security and low maintenance,” Ater says. “With a Simplex push-button lock for secure access, you can rest assured your range stays locked and secure when not in use.”
Ater also notes the company’s mobile ranges are easy to clean, as they feature paintable interior surfaces all the way up to the firing line. “With spacious stalls, center-rail target retrieval systems, LED lighting, and rubber flooring, you'll shoot in comfort and focus on what matters most: getting shots on target.” Booth #11885 mrtrange.com

XS Sights Keeps the Target in Focus
It’s no secret that over the past few years millions of women have embraced handgun ownership. These new gun owners often cite personal protection as a major reason in their decision to purchase a firearm. And many of these owners are equipping their new guns with optics, often red dots or lasers. But Kellie Brunn, CEO of XS Sights, a major manufacturer of front-sight-focus tritium night sights, says their products should be in the mix, too.
Front-sight focus is the act of aligning the front sight with the target and maintaining a sharp focus on the front sight while shooting. The importance of front-sight focus cannot be overstated, especially in defensive and high-stress shooting situations where the shooter’s adrenaline can cause them to lose focus and accuracy. But front-sight focus provides a clear reference point that can help mitigate this and ensure more accurate shot placement. It can also reduce reaction time, as focusing on the front sight allows you to quickly acquire your target and make accurate shots without wasting time. This is especially important in defensive situations where time is of the essence.
“XS Sights offers three handgun sight-alignment systems that cater to different shooting styles and scenarios,” Brunn says. “Our Express Sights, such as the DXT2, feature a shallow V rear sight and a Big Dot front sight. To achieve proper sight alignment, place the Big Dot on your target and position it over the line, creating a clear ‘dot-the-i’ sight picture. Notch & Post, such as the R3D 2.0, is a classic design with four-corner alignment that provides a reliable and consistent sight picture. The Figure 8, such as the F8 Night Sight, is an innovative design where the front and rear sight together make a figure 8. This alignment system improves sight acquisition and accuracy in low-light conditions. Whether for self defense or sport shooting, XS Sights has a sight alignment system that can help you achieve your goals.”
The choice of a particular sight depends on individual preference and usage, but Brunn likes to point out the advantages that XS Night Sights have over red dots. “First, XS Night Sights utilize a combination of a photoluminescent dot and tritium to produce a glowing effect, enabling shooters to acquire targets quickly and accurately in any lighting situation. Red-dot sights, on the other hand, require a power source or battery to function.
“Second, Night Sights do not require complex adjustments or calibration, providing an intuitive aiming experience straight out of the box. This allows shooters to focus on their target without worrying about adjusting the sight.
“Finally, our night sights are a more affordable option compared to red dots. All in all, night sights provide reliable performance and accuracy at an affordable price, making them an attractive choice for many handgun owners.”
As a family-owned business, XS has always been about exceptional customer service and with millions of new gun owners, that has never been more important. “Behind every XS product is a team that truly cares about the people who use it,” says Brunn. “We’re shooters ourselves, and we pour that passion into making sights that are reliable, intuitive, and backed by the kind of customer service you only get from a family-owned company.” Booth #13624 xssights.com
The Hidden Risk of Fasteners — Why 3A Threads Matter
Thread class is a critical specification that defines how tightly a threaded component fits with its mating part. A Class 3A thread provides a more secure connection—it’s the standard for hex socket set screws. However, the folks at Set Screw & Mfg. Co. have recently observed the misuse of Class 2A threads where a Class 3A is required. This isn’t just a minor detail; it’s a serious quality risk that can compromise the integrity, fit, and function of a mechanical system.
In firearms, archery, and precision equipment, small details separate reliable performance from failure. A 3A thread fits snugly into a 3B hole, providing a close, precise fit with minimal clearance. That tighter tolerance keeps adjustment screws locked in place under recoil, shock, and vibration, ensuring superior alignment and long-term durability. Critical applications include AR-15/M5 lower receiver (nylon tip adjusting screw); iron sight leveling screw; trigger over travel screw; quiver, rest, and sight mounted to a bow; and scope rings, mounts, and bases.
By using 3A threads where they are specified, you're not just following a rule; you're building a stronger, safer, and more reliable product from the ground up.
“At Set Screw & Mfg. Co., we’ve been in this industry since my grandfather supplied gun parts during World War II,” says fastener specialist Heather Walker. “We are ISO 9001:2015 certified, and every order is inspected before it ships. Because in this field—and for our armed forces—‘good enough’ isn’t.”
Founded in 1935 in the basement of Calvin O. Brown’s home, Set Screw & Mfg. Co. is now led by his son Jim Brown from a 30,000-square-
foot manufacturing facility in Elgin, Illinois. With 46 Brown & Sharpe machines, four thread rollers, a full line of tip machines, and nearly 90 years of experience, and fourth generation ownership, the company stocks over 10,000 sizes and styles of set screws ready for immediate shipment in steel, stainless, brass, bronze, aluminum, and specialty materials.
Every detail matters—and the IFI (Industrial Fasteners Institute) standard exists for a reason: If a design calls for a 3A thread, you must use a 3A part. Hex Socket Set Screws are 3A, no exceptions.
To ensure compliance, Set Screw & Mfg. Co. verifies thread class on all nylon and brass tip set screws before every shipment, confirming full 3A IFI conformance. Booth #52534 setscrewmfg.com
MEPROLIGHT DELIVERS
Want to shave fractions of an inch off your group and stop blaming the gun? Adjustable sights do that. As the late Tiger McKee once told The Tactical Wire, “Adjustable sights for a handgun have advantages. They normally offer a more defined sight picture, which generally improves accuracy. The ability to adjust the pistol’s point of aim into alignment with the bullet’s point of impact is a plus, especially for target matches and competitive shooting where fractions of an inch make a big difference in your final score.”
Meprolight provides the solution with tritium-enhanced Mepro Tru-Dot Adjustable Pistol Sights, all built for shooters who demand repeatable, tunable accuracy. Rear-sight windage and elevation adjustments let you zero precisely for bullet weight and distance, so your point of aim matches your point of impact. The result: a cleaner sight picture, faster follow-ups, and better scores.
“The Mepro Tru-Dot self-illuminated sight family delivers unyielding performance in any lighting condition,” says Eric Suarez, director of marketing, LE/ MIL/OEM Sales, for Mepro USA LLC. “Utilizing premium Swiss tritium vials, the sights offer continuous illumination, day or night without the need for batteries or switches. Built with rugged steel construction and a snag-free design, Tru-Dot sights are trusted by leading firearm OEMs and are in active duty use by militaries and law enforcement agencies worldwide. Backed by a 12-year illumination warranty, they’re engineered for reliability in the most demanding environments.”
According to Suarez, shooters choose Tru-dot adjustable sights for five reasons. First: precision tuning. Windage and elevation adjustments on the rear sight let you zero in for any load or range. Second: consistent sight picture. Three solid dots give the same reference day or night. There’s no re-training your sight picture every time the sun goes down. Third: faster target acquisition. High-visibility dots speed up instinctive aiming for both stationary and moving targets. Fourth: battle proven gear. Meprolight’s self-illuminated sights are trusted by law enforcement, defense procurement, and OEM partners thanks to rigorous production standards and QA. Fifth: Night capability. Self-illuminating tritium provides instant, reliable aiming in low light without batteries or electronics. Independent tests with marksmen and journeyman shooters have shown an 85 percent improvement in hit efficiency. Prefer a fixed-sight option? Suarez says Mepro Tru-Dot Fixed Sights deliver the same three-dot day/night reference in a robust, fixed package, which makes for an excellent defensive upgrade when you want simplicity and speed. He also notes the company makes Tru-Dot sights for rifles and shotguns. Booth #20039 meprolight.com
The U.S. Army recently awarded a long-term contract to Red Cat for its Black Widow drone, which has been specifically designed to operate in electronic warfare environments.
Paradigm Shift
Red Cat’s smaller, more agile, and cost-effective drones help give American warfighters a tactical edge in precision strike operations.
Jeff Thompson is a serial tech entrepreneur with a long track record of founding and leading companies from startup phase to successful exits and IPOs. His background is in the telecom space, where he founded EdgeNet, a private Internet Service provider (ISP) that was sold to Citadel Broadcasting in 1997. He then cofounded Towerstream, a wireless service provider. With an ongoing passion for innovative technology, he then founded Red Cat, which recently acquired Teal Drones. As one who believes his company is helping to define the future of aerial intelligence, he says the mission of Red Cat is “to provide critical situational awareness and enhance the effectiveness and safety of military and security operations domestically and globally.”
SHOT Daily: What do you see as the biggest challenges facing the industry in the next five years?
Jeff Thompson: A big challenge for both our industry and our nation is aligning rapidly evolving sUAS (small unmanned aircraft system) technology with the government’s traditionally slow ability to equip and train warfighters with the latest and greatest. This is critical in the current geopolitical environment, where the U.S. and its allies must maintain an edge over global adversaries. Our industry must take proactive steps to accelerate this alignment to ensure national security and operational readiness.
With respect to technology-specific challenges, as cyber and electronic warfare continue to evolve, there will be an ongoing cat-and-mouse game with the use of sUAS in defense. The ability to securely and reliably transmit data across the battlefield will remain a cornerstone of mission success, and Red Cat is committed to tackling these challenges head on by continuously innovating and ensuring our technology can operate effectively in contested environments.
SD: What opportunities do you see?
JT: There is immense opportunity to redefine what drones can do for defense applications, especially American-made systems. We’re witnessing a paradigm shift toward smaller, more agile, and cost-effective drones—and ones that warfighters can deploy quickly and easily at the tactical edge for ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) and precision strike operations.
With the technology itself, the sky’s the limit for innovation and multi-domain system integration. Earlier last year, we launched the Red Cat Futures Initiative, which is an independent, industry-wide consortium of robotics and autonomous systems (RAS) partners that are working to bridge critical gaps and bolster support for our warfighters through open architecture and

interoperability. Working with leaders in UAS hardware and software companies focused on AI/ML (artificial intelligence/machine learning), swarming, FPV (first person view), command and control, and payloads allows us to address critical gaps and develop solutions that directly benefit our warfighters.
SD: When you get up in the morning, what gets you excited about working in the industry?
JT: What excites me the most is the opportunity to lead a company making a real impact on national security. I am surrounded by folks with deep roots in the drone and aerospace industry, many of whom come from a military back ground and understand the needs of warfighters firsthand. Every day, I’m inspired by the potential we have to deliver meaningful solutions that pro tect our soldiers and allies.
Seeing Red Cat evolve from its early days into a company at the forefront of drone technology is a journey I’m deeply proud of. The challenges are significant, but so are the rewards when you see your innovations making a difference on the battlefield.
SD: What spurred your interest in drones, and how did you first conceive and build your early products?
JT: My passion for drones stems from a lifelong interest in technology and innovation. Early in my career, I recognized the opportunity for drones to transform our country’s approach to defense. That vision led me to establish Red Cat, with the goal of creating cutting-edge, Americanmade systems that address the unique needs of warfighters.
From the beginning, our mission has been to push the boundaries of what drones can achieve while maintaining a relentless focus on quality and reliability. This foundation has driven everything we’ve done—from research and development to manufacturing to acquisition. Every decision we make is intentionally designed to advance innovation.
SD: How will you meet the expectations of your customers?
JT: We’re always looking ahead and investing heavily into R&D to stay ahead of customer expectations. As a company focused solely on defense applications, we are able to take the time to truly understand the needs of warfighters in the field and ensure every innovation connects with those needs. The Red Cat Family of Systems, which includes Teal, FlightWave, and a new line of FPV drones, opens up many doors to

ensure we can provide systems that meet the needs and expectations of the end user. Quality control and assurance has always been a critical part of our operations, and we are relentless in our mission to not only meet, but exceed expectations for every system we ship.
SD: In a very competitive world, how does Teal Drones stay ahead of the pack?
JT: At Red Cat, we prioritize innovation, speed, and strategic partnerships. Our defense-first focus allows us to channel all our resources into addressing the unique challenges of military operations. We don’t try to be everything to everyone—we strive to be the best in defense.
The Red Cat Futures Initiative is a key differentiator for us, enabling us to lead the charge in developing interoperable and mission-specific solutions. This collaboration positions us to anticipate and meet emerging needs while staying ahead of competitors.
SD: Drone technology seems to be evolving quickly, driven by relentless innovation and accompanying technological breakthroughs. How does Teal take advantage of this?
JT: Teal is built around a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) that allows us to quickly integrate new technologies and partner with
specialized companies to enhance our offerings. Collaboration is central to our strategy. We’re not just trying to do everything ourselves; we’re collaborating with companies that specialize in their niches to push the boundaries of what our drones can achieve. This approach prioritizes our customers and ensures we stay at the top of the market.
SD: As drone technology evolves, do you see its uses spreading beyond how it is currently employed in the military and law enforcement communities?
JT: Absolutely. While our current focus is on defense applications, the technology we develop has the potential to transform other sectors over time. History has shown that innovations initially designed for military use often find applications in commercial markets, and I believe the same will be true for drones.
With our Family of Systems and extensive partner network, we’re enabling a broad range of operational use cases across air, land, sea, and subsea environments. These advancements not only address current defense needs, but also pave the way for future commercial applications, where drones can become indispensable tools in everyday life. New Direction
A
strategic pivot by Riton intends to give retailers the tools they need to efficiently sell its products.
In case you haven’t been watching, there have been some big changes at Riton Optics recently. From new products and new markets to a renewed commitment to its retail partners, Riton is finding new ways to find its niche in the increasingly competitive optics market.
Riton has long been known for its tactical optics, but recently, Riton scopes can be found on more and more hunting and shooting rifles.
“Riton’s roots have always been in the tactical arena, but there’s been a steady movement into the hunting side,” says Trent Marsh, marketing director for Riton. “We took what we’ve learned from the tactical side and have applied that to our hunting optics.”
To distinguish itself in a market where wellestablished hunting optics brands have had a loyal following for years, Riton took a novel approach to the hunting optics market.
“We launched eight new products, most of which were designed specifically to fill holes in our offering,” Marsh says. “Our goal was to pack as much versatility into these products as possible and still keep them at a price point most people can afford.”
A prime example of that versatility is Riton’s new 5 Primal 3-18x50 Cross-Over scope. With capped turrets and precision reticles, Riton designed the Cross-Over specifically to fill a need for hunters who are using their rifles for more than just one activity.
“You’re starting to see a lot more hunters who are shooting farther with the improvements in firearm capabilities,” Marsh says. “You’re also seeing more hunters who also shoot at the range, and range shooters who also hunt. We wanted to give them a scope that gave them the versatility to do both.”
When designing the Cross-Over, Riton also focused on the type of hunter and shooter who could take advantage of the new scope’s capabilities.
“We have traditionally focused on hunters in the west, but we’re making a concerted effort to get into the whitetail hunting market and give those hunters additional options in their optics as well,” Marsh says.
The high-power magnifications on the CrossOver feature Riton’s Long-Range Hunter (LRH) Christmas-tree-style reticle, but when the scope is powered down to low magnification for hunting in heavily wooded areas, the reticle becomes a simple duplex, which allows for quick target acquisition. This innovative feature gives hunters and shooters the best of both worlds in one scope.
In addition to the Cross-Over, Riton has also expanded its Primal line of scopes to include the 5 Primal 2-12x44 IR (illuminated reticle) and the 3 Primal 3-15x44 LW (lightweight) as a way to provide consumers with scopes that

Trent March, Marketing Director, Riton Optics.
give them more options in the field and at the range.
“Optics can be tricky,” Marsh says. “A scope can be used in very different ways by different shooters. Usually that means some part of the performance isn’t maximized. The product team did a great job delivering a product that can be used in a variety of ways without sacrificing any of the performance.”
Versatile options, such as those in the Primal series, also help retailers offer their customers something more than the traditional 3-9x40 scope that adorn so many hunting rifles.
“Our goal is to fill a void that retailers have in their optics case. We want to give them scopes that no one else is making so they can give their customers a wider selection of products, not just more brands,” Marsh says.
Riton’s commitment to its retail partners extends well beyond optics.
“We’ve spent a tremendous amount of time updating our marketing and branding sections of the website,” Marsh says. “We’re putting all our videos, photos, and ad copy on the site. Basically, all the resources retailers need to make selling Riton products easier than ever. It’s all in one place, and everything has been completely organized and categorized so retailers can find anything they need quickly and without any hassle.”
All of the effort at versatility and accessibility, Marsh says, is part of an overarching goal that Riton is extremely focused on achieving.
“We’re really upping our commitment to the retailers,” he says. “We want to be good partners with our retailers. We’re making a strong effort to look at
where we can be a problem-solver for our partners. We want to give them the optics that fill a niche and a product case that makes our brand stand out so it’s easier for their sales people to tell the story.”
And when that story is about making life easier for hunters and shooters to do what they love most, it isn’t a difficult story to tell. Booth #72253 ritonoptics.com

GUNS
2026
by Eve Flanigan
Given recent economic UNCERTAINTY in the form of inflation and tariffs, retailers should not be surprised that manufacturers in many cases are Relying on line extensions this year.
Over the past year firearm manufacturers have faced robust headwinds created by inflationary pressures and tariffs. As a result, in some cases new models have been put on hold until conditions improve; in others, manufacturers have relied on a tried-and-true formula: line extensions. In this way, a manufacturer can issue a “new” gun without the R&D expense of a whole new model line. Retailers, too, have experienced these heavy seas, and after enduring a year of slower sales many have adopted a “wait-and-see” attitude, hoping for clearer weather in the year to come.

CVA
The CVA Endura series is the next generation of muzzleloading performance, purpose-built for hunters who demand long-range accuracy, modern design, and versatility in the field. Both the Endura LRH and Endura Pro are CVA’s first muzzleloaders rated for use with either Blackhorn 209 or specifically recommended modern smokeless rifle powders.
The Endura is outfitted with a tungsten-lined breech plug because of the additional pressures and higher burn rates that the rifle can accommodate. A magnetic bolt face consisting of five magnets helps retain the Variflame adapters, both before and after firing. (Variflame is CVA’s ignition system that uses large-rifle primers that can either be placed on the bolt face or directly on the breech plug.) A large ejection port is specifically designed to deliver enough room to place the Variflame directly on the breech plug or bolt face. It is also large enough to remove the Variflame with or without a magnetic extractor tool.
The barrel is fluted for weight reduction and threaded (to easily attach CVA’s SP muzzle brake, which is sold separately).
Long-range stocks are another feature of this model. The Endura LRH is equipped with a stock that is rigid, adjustable, and well balanced.
The Endura Pro sports a Grayboe Eagle Pro Stock that balances longrange features with a hunter-friendly design. Both the Endura LRH and Endura Pro include nitride and Cerakote treatments on the barreled actions, and both models include premium adjustable triggers that can be adjusted between 2 to 4 pounds. Each model is drilled and tapped for open sights and comes with CVA’s accuracy and satisfaction guarantee.

Featuring a rugged Coyote Brown Cerakote finish, the bolt-action rifles are available in .308 Win. or 6.5 Creedmoor. The .308 Win. version is a 20-inch model; the 6.5 CM versions are offered in either 20- or 22-inch models.
All Heatseekers feature a Sharps Bros. Heatseeker chassis machined from a solid block of 6061-T6 billet aluminum for strength without bulk. The lightweight chassis includes a 14-inch free-float handguard that weighs just 10 ounces. M-LOK slots are located on all four sides of the handguard, with dual QD sling mounts on each side.
In addition, the chassis is designed with AR-style features for maximum modularity. It’s outfitted with a buffer tube extension for mounting AR-pattern stocks and is designed to accept AR-pattern pistol grips. The Model 2020 Heatseeker comes outfitted with a B5 Systems Collapsible Precision Stock (CPS) that is adjustable for both length of pull and cheek height. It also comes with a matching CPS adjustable cheek piece. A B5 Systems P-Grip 23 is also included.
Underpinning the Model 2020 Heatseeker rifles is Springfield’s custom-grade Model 2020 stainless steel action. It features dual locking lugs, a fluted bolt, and EDM raceways. Mated to the action are free-floated, carbon-fiber-wrapped barrels with muzzles threaded 5⁄8x24 and featuring thread-protector muzzle caps.
A TriggerTech Field Trigger, adjustable for a pull weight from 2.5 to 5 pounds, and a metal five-round AICS-pattern magazine round out the package. The result is a family of rifles featuring an impressive 0.75 MOA accuracy guarantee, making them ideal for demanding and serious shooters. SRP: $2,355. Booth #11217 springfield-armory.com

Steel Shot is Hot
No one loves steel shot, which makes it surprising that it’s such a hot trend. Steel is in for the simple reason that it’s the last non-toxic shot standing for now. Bismuth, HEVI-Shot, and TSS haven’t gone away, but rising raw material costs have driven the prices of the premium non-toxics out of reach of most people, who must turn to steel. You’ll want to stock a little bismuth for customers with old guns, and some TSS during turkey season, but steel shot is it for the vast majority of your customers who need to shoot non-toxic.
The good news is that steel remains affordable, and it is better than ever. Steady improvements in steel over the years make it a product you can recommend to your customers with confidence. Based on 2025’s crop of non-toxic innovations, you’re going to find new, better steel offerings at SHOT 2026.
Here are the trends and the brand names to look for at SHOT, bearing in mind that every one of these lines will likely feature new extensions for 2026, because steel’s time is here, and we’ll only be shooting more of it, not less.
TRENDS IN GAUGES
For waterfowl hunting, the 3-inch 12-gauge and 3-inch 20-gauge remain by far the most popular. The magnum 3½-inch 10 is a niche gun favored by a few goose hunters. It makes sense to stock it only in areas where the 10 remains popular. While many hunters still buy guns with 3½-inch chambers “just in case” they need more power,
most will shoot 3-inch shells almost all the time. At the small end of the gauge spectrum, the new 3-inch 28-gauge is not likely to be a big seller for waterfowl, as those guns relied on bismuth and tungsten-iron pellets to boost their performance. Most of what you’ll want to look for in waterfowl loads will the 3-inch 12 and 3-inch 20.
STACKED LOADS
Stacked loads, what your older customers will remember as “duplex” loads from the 1990s, have become an industry-wide trend as ammo makers look for ways to increase the effectiveness of steel shot. By layering one size over another, they’re trying to increase the total pellet energy in each pattern. Most stacked loads combine two sizes of steel shot.
3½-inch and 3-inch 12-gauge and 3-inch 20-gauge. These loads feature new half-sizes of shot, combining 1½ and BB and 2½ and 4 shot. By being slightly smaller than 1 or 2 shot, these pellets give you slightly higher pellet counts per shell. The half sizes will get people’s attention, so be ready to explain the advantage.
Remington Nitro-Steel Duplex (Booth #11838) come in 3-inch 12-gauge only, with a choice of 1¼ ounces of 2/4, 2/6, or BB/2.
There can be benefits to a stacked load. Kent Cartridge’s (Booth #70943) internal testing, verified by my own, showed that combining shot sizes sometimes improves pattern efficiency in its excellent new Fasteel+ loads. Larger pellets, loaded at the top of the stack, do a better job of fighting air resistance than smaller pellets. The smaller shot drafts behind the big shot before the pattern fully opens, getting a free ride, ballistically. The result can be a denser pattern at 40 yards.
Kent Fasteel+ is just one of many stacked loads right now. Federal Ultra Steel (Booth #11838) comes in numerous “Double Stack” offerings in 10-, 12-, and 20-gauges. Winchester (Booth #11831) offers its new Final Pass in
Remington
As you sell stacked loads, explain that they are designed to be used within the effective range of the smaller shot in the shell. The larger pellets are there to increase the energy hitting the bird.

MIXED STACKED LOADS
One of the big trends in recent years has seen ammo makers try to make steel hit harder and offer some premium performance at lower prices by layering a small amount of tungsten-iron or bismuth shot with steel. Most of these combine small premium shot with larger steel pellets. Winchester’s Last Call mixes steel BB with TSS 7 or steel 2½ shot with TSS 9s. HEVI-Shot (Booth #11838) takes a different approach with HEVIHitter, mixing equal sizes of HEVI-Shot and steel in a 20/80 ratio. I’ve

had good success with the Apex (Booth #71104) TSS/S3 steel loads in 2 steel/7½ TSS shooting ducks and geese over decoys. The TSS 7½s have comparable energy to the 2 shot and fill in the pattern, adding a lot of density.
BUDGET STEEL
For those customers who want performance at a price, Remington introduced Duck Club Steel in 2025. Duck Club comes in 2¾-inch, 3-inch, and 3½-inch 12-gauge and 3-inch 20-gauge. Winchester repackaged its affordable Xpert loads in eye-catching
boxes, and makes Xpert loads for everything from teal to giant Canadas in all 12 and in 3-inch 20-gauge loadings. Finally, Federal’s “Blue Box” Speed Shok remains the gold standard among affordable steel. It’s loaded in every gauge, from 10 to .410 for every possible waterfowling purpose.
UPLAND STEEL
The nation’s best pheasant hunting is in South Dakota, where many of your customers may travel, and where non-toxic shot is required on all public lands. Three-inch and 2¾-inch loads of 2, 3, and 4 shot are all effective on wild roosters, so any waterfowl load in those sizes makes a good pheasant load. Federal does make steel Prairie Storm in 2¾and 3-inch 12-gauge and in 3-inch 20-gauge, driving 3 or 4 shot at velocities of 1,500 and even 1,600 fps for maximum energy. Winchester makes Xpert Game and Target steel in 12-, 20-, 28-gauge and .410 in shot sizes ranging from 4 to 7. The Xpert 7 shot in 12-, 20- and even 28-gauge has been my favorite dove load for several years now.
TARGET STEEL
A few clubs do require it and more likely will. If clubs in your area require non-toxic shot, the good news is, Federal Top Gun, Winchester Xpert and AA, and Kent Elite Steel Target are all excellent steel target loads. Six and 7 shot are legal for use on clays even where no shot larger than lead 7½ is permitted. I recently participated in a blind test with a number of Master Class sporting clays shooters who were given lead and steel loads without knowing which was which. They could tell after the shot by the smell of the burned powder, but could tell no difference at ranges out to 50 yards between lead and steel with lead 7½s and steel 7s. When we gave them faster steel 6s, they could tell no difference between lead and steel at even very long ranges.

GLOBAL
REACH
A new ammunition entity is making its mark in America and abroad.
by Slaton L. White
Industrial powerhouse is a muchoverused term, but when considering the world-wide reach of D&M Holding Co., it is a completely apt description of the company’s importance to the ammunition industry. Founded in 2018 by Dan Powers, former president of the SIG Sauer Ammunition division, and James Jones, a defense industry executive, D&M Holding Company, Inc. is an ammunition and energetics engineering group based in Tampa, Florida, and Cabot, Arkansas.
The group specializes in greenfield projects (i.e., a new undertaking that starts from scratch on undeveloped land or without any pre-existing infrastructure or systems), often for companies and countries that have never before been in the ammunition, primer, or propellant business. Global demand for reliable supplies of ammunition, primers, and powder is soaring as a matter of national security, and D&M is working nonstop to support the U.S., NATO countries, and other friendly foreign governments.
D&M specializes in design and manufacture of equipment for the ammunition and energetics industry and in the development of turnkey factories for government and commercial customers

worldwide. D&M’s turnkey factories include solutions for ammunition production, primer production, as well as propellant production for everything from small-caliber ammunition to artillery. D&M services include all aspects of the project from site planning and floor planning to equipment manufacture and installation, as well as the secret sauce, the transfer of know-how. D&M offers intensive training to its clients and 24/7 support.
Under the leadership of president and CEO Dan Powers, along with business partners B.J. Rogers and James Jones, D&M has become a name spoken everywhere as the one company that you can count on to finish a factory and make it run, period.
“D&M is unique in that we are the only company in the industry that offers solutions for all ammunition components, including ammunition factories, primer factories, and propellant factories. We have no competitor that does all three,” Powers says.
Powers and his team have built ammunition factories in the United States and Ukraine with more in the works globally. Some current projects include: Canada (building plants to produce nitrocellulose, single-base and double-base powders, primers, and ammunition components), Ukraine (currently the company has two ammunition projects and a primer project in the works), Eastern
Europe (building a single-base powder plant for a southeastern European country with other projects in the works), and the United States (D&M Holding is expanding its own White River Energetics primer facility in Arkansas to include a propellant factory, laboratories for R&D, and a training center).
Given the success of SIG Sauer’s ammo division, it’s fair to ask why Powers left to strike out on his own. His decision to leave SIG was molded by that very success.
“When I was at SIG Sauer, there were a lot of articles written about me and the SIG ammunition division, and as time passed, I realized there was much more I could do beyond SIG Sauer,” he says. “As a result of this exposure, I started receiving calls from all over the world when word got out that I had left SIG—calls from private companies and governments—asking me to help improve their current ammunition facilities and/or build new ones for them.”
“James Jones and I spent two years traveling all over the world visiting factories, meeting with potential customers, and listening to their needs. It was clear that parts of our industry were underserved and, in some cases, untouched, and we saw an opportunity to fill the gap. This intensive information gathering process, combined with my

experience at SIG, helped us develop our business model, which continues to guide our innovation and drive our growth.”
“Today the services D&M provides are much needed worldwide, and we are working nonstop to support NATO countries and other friendly foreign governments in their efforts to ensure adequate ammunition supplies for their troops.”
INITIAL SUCCESS
D&M’s first big stand-alone project was building out a multi-million-dollar ammunition facility in Ukraine. D&M won a competitive contract with the government of Ukraine to build the new ammunition factory after the country’s existing factory was lost during the initial Russian invasion of 2014. Ukraine needed a modern factory that could produce multiple calibers, including both NATO and Russian standards, and D&M offered the best solution.
D&M had delivered all the equipment and was in the process of installation when the U.S. government told the team to leave because the invasion was imminent.
“We were on one of the last flights out of Kyiv before Russia invaded on February 24, 2022,” says James Jones, vice president of business development of D&M.
When it was clear the Russian advance to Kyiv was stalled, D&M hired a security firm and began making plans to return to Ukraine. Against U.S. government advice due to safety concerns, Powers and a team of D&M employee volunteers quietly crossed the border and finished commissioning the factory,

which now produces ammunition 24/7 for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The successful completion of the factory put D&M on the map and has been a success story touted by both the governments of Ukraine and the U.S. D&M has since signed agreements for multiple projects in Ukraine, including ammunition and primer production.

BUSINESS EXPANSION
“D&M’s initial focus was on manufacturing of the machinery, but the COVID pandemic forced us to vertically integrate quickly to meet delivery deadlines. We were forced into making our own tooling because suppliers were so backlogged. D&M could not honor its contracts without faster access to necessary tooling,” says B.J. Rogers, vice president of operations for D&M.
As a result, D&M began making its own parts and tooling, such as carbide dies and punches, to get the job done. That now allows D&M to develop new caliber solutions quickly without the standard 90-day delay in tooling.
This started the progression of D&M adding capabilities and capacity throughout the company, which has included expanding its machine shop and fabrication shop, as well as the acquisition of two additional companies with more acquisitions planned. D&M has also added divisions and specialties over the years. Power’s strong industry relationships could ensure D&M customers had powder, but primers were an issue. So, D&M created White River Energetics, LLC, and started making primers. In the past 18 months, D&M has created an energetics division capable of producing powder plants as well. These plants allow D&M to supply industry partners with the products they need while also providing a training ground for their clients.

Energetics and building a propellant factory there due to increasing demand worldwide. Currently, there is a worldwide shortage of smokeless propellant that is affecting munitions availability globally. This will be the first propellant factory to be built in the United States in over 50 years and is an important step to ensure that D&M customers have a steady source of powder in the years ahead,” Powers says.
WRE currently makes around 800 million primers a year; around 600 million of those go to OEM customer here in the U.S. for small and large caliber pistol and rifle ammunition. Some of these are sold by distributors to dealers.
By mid 2026, primer production will increase to around 1.2 to 1.4 billion primers, with many more going to the consumer. D&M intends to sell direct to box stores and work with select distributors.
Building a primer manufacturing facility takes a lot of time and money and is an inherently dangerous endeavor, as there is always risk when

THE D&M TEAM
Many innovators work their magic by themselves, but you don’t truly build a winning operation without assembling a team that shares your vision and work ethic. Dan Powers has assembled a team of some of the best and brightest professionals in the industry. His secret? Identifying those in the industry that want to, as he says, “build and teach.”
“Dan has a knack for finding the diamonds in the industry and convincing people to follow him, and we all do,” says vice president Leslie Weber. Powers also gives his team room to achieve whatever goals have been set. “He never asks us to bend to what he wants; he just asks us what we need to succeed, gives it to us, and lets us be creative,” says B. J. Rogers, owner and vice president of operations.
The executive team at D&M includes:
*Dan Powers, owner, president, and CEO of D&M. Powers has been a pioneer for all his 25 years in the ammunition industry. Interestingly, he started his career as an accountant. As luck (or fate) would have it, a friend talked him into going with him to a gun show years ago where he saw a guy selling bags of ammunition. His interest was sparked, and the rest is history. Powers became an early innovator in frangible ammunition as the owner of Precision Ammunition before selling the company to RUAG, the then Swissgovernment-owned defense conglomerate. He stayed on as the president of RUAG USA, managing U.S. operations and consulting on modernization at other RUAG-owned ammunition companies in Europe. After leaving RUAG, Powers developed the business plan for SIG Sauer’s ammunition division and built the division from scratch, starting in Kentucky before moving the factory to Little Rock, Arkansas. The division was based on the coveted SIG V-Crown cartridge, which is Power’s patent and legacy.
* B.J. Rogers, owner and vice president of operations. Rogers spent his 15 years in the ammunition industry at Remington, where he was a ballistics engineer before becoming Remington’s centerfire engineering manager and later at SIG Sauer as the ammunition division plant manager and as director of operations.
* James Jones, owner and vice president of business development. Jones is a 20-year defense industry executive. Much of his career was spent with Goldbelt Wolf, LLC, a defense contracting company that represented U.S. defense companies and ammunition manufacturers in international contracts. Jones has represented nearly every major U.S. defense company and has worked in over 50 countries.
* Don Pile, senior chemist. Pile spent 22 years at Remington in various positions as an explosives engineer and research chemist and holds multiple primer technology patents, especially for military primers. Powers recruited him to SIG Sauer, where he worked as chief chemist for several years before Powers again recruited him to join D&M Holding Company in 2020. Pile is one of the best-known primer chemists in the world.
* Jason Lawhon, vice president of energetics. Lawhon spent 32 years at St. Marks Powder, the largest propellant manufacturer in the world, where he held many positions as a chemical engineer and in business development. He is one of the few people in the world with experience in so many aspects of the powder business. When Lawhon decided to retire from St. Marks, Powers convinced him to join D&M, travel the world, and help to reimagine and reinvent legacy propellant systems.
* Leslie Weber, vice president. After receiving advanced degrees in engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Weber spent five years with Raytheon Missile Systems before joining Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK). She was with ATK during the spinoff of the sporting group division into Vista Outdoor, where she spent 11 years, first overseeing CCI’s primer production, then overseeing Federal Premium’s centerfire pistol ammunition.

handling explosive materials. But Powers says that the White River Energetics facility has been designed to greatly reduce this side of ammo production.
“We wanted to make it the most automated and safest primer facility in the world on the chemistry side. All reactions happen without a person in the room. We can manage the dangerous part of the process in a control center by the way we have designed our flow meters. It’s all done by touch screen, and we design our own software to open and close those valves. Our propellant will be made differently, but the process is still very safe. We will be incorporating the newest and safest innovations we can use in a powder facility.”
POSITIVE EXPERIENCE
Powers credits his SIG Sauer experience as a vital component of the success of his present venture.
“Ron Cohen (president and CEO of SIG Sauer) gave me a blank piece of paper and allowed me free reign,” Powers says. “My team and I could decide how to be most efficient in rolling out an entirely new ammunition division from the ground up, which included everything from the layout of the plant and types of equipment to the manufacturing processes and procedures. We learned to be nimble and react quickly to ever-changing market
conditions, and this experience was invaluable. The association with SIG Sauer and positive media attention my work there brought has opened a lot of doors for me.”
And now he is opening doors for others. Currently, D&M employs close to 250 employees, and the company intends to add another 100 with the WRE primer plant expansion and the addition of propellant manufacturing. No doubt more hires will be forthcoming as D&M is currently building propellant, primer, and ammunition facilities all

over the world. In addition, D&M is engaging with the U.S. government on multiple projects and with other friendly foreign governments.
Powers fully understands that D&M’s success is not only due to its ability to offer turnkey services for its customers, but to also offer that “secret sauce”— the transfer of hard-to-obtain know-how. But something else is at work as well. It’s his talent for attracting individuals who share his passion for building an enterprise that reflects the best that American manufacturing has to offer. Palmetto State Armory-AAC (American Ammunition Company), is based in Columbia, South Carolina. D&M built AAC’s primer and ammunition factory completed in 2024. It currently manufactures 350 to 450 million rounds of pistol and rifle ammo annually, which are sold direct to consumer. This is the largest new ammo factory in the United States. The faculty consists of a 300,000-square foot building, 150,000 square feet of which is dedicated to making ammo. There is room for expansion.
Grind Hard Ammunition, based in Stuart, Florida, makes 80 million specialty rounds per year, all of which are funneled directly into the consumer market. D&M built the facility and is currently finishing building a primer line for the company. Longhorn Ammunition, based in Florence, Texas, is owned by Staccato firearms. The facility is dedicated to 9mm ammunition. D&M built the ammo line, which was completed in 2023.
BEYOND PERCEIVED LIMITS
5.11 is upping its commitment to its customers.
BEYOND
by Christopher Cogley
Many people associate 5.11 as a tactical clothing and gear company, but at its heart 5.11 has always been focused on being a purpose-built brand. And while it will forever maintain its extreme dedication to the professional and tactical communities, 5.11 is ushering in a new era in 2026 and expanding its commitment to every customer who is driven by purpose.
“This new era for 5.11 is about rediscovering what the name itself has always stood for—pushing beyond perceived limits. The name 5.11 originated from Royal Robbins’ climbing scale, marking the moment when a climber moves from the impossible to the possible,” says Troy Brown, CEO of 5.11. “It’s always been about purpose—the courage to test yourself, rise higher, and challenge what’s possible.”
And 5.11 is doing just that in 2026 as it ups its commitment to all its customers—not just the tactical community—with innovative new products, expanded marketing efforts, and exceptional customer service, all of which are targeted at helping people everywhere live a more purposeful life.
“5.11 has always been purpose-built. The difference now is that we’re expanding what ‘purpose’ means—beyond readiness as defense to readiness as possibility,” Brown says. “As a brand, we’re bringing that spirit forward with precision, purpose, and performance, while staying true to the professional and tactical communities that have defined us. We remain deeply committed to the men and women who serve and protect, but we also recognize that the mindset that drives them lives in all of us.
Whether you’re on duty, training at the range, or pursuing a full, active life, our mission at 5.11 is the same: listen, learn, and build gear that earns your trust.”
That ability to actually listen and learn is what has helped 5.11 earn such a solid reputation for consistently developing innovative gear and clothing that is so versatile it can be used for such a wide variety of pursuits.
“Innovation at 5.11 begins with respect for the mission—whether that’s a professional mission or a personal pursuit of growth. Our teams collaborate with field experts, tactical trainers, and long-time brand loyalists to ensure every product delivers mobility, durability, and purpose,” Brown says.

CEO Troy Brown.
5.11 is also increasing its dedication to creating a seamless customer service experience.
5.11 design teams then take the information gathered from field experts and use it to develop new gear, clothing, and footwear, or simply improve on the look and functionality of its existing line to make sure the products perform as well off-the-job as it does on.
“We’re elevating our professional-grade solutions—performance uniforms, load-bearing systems, and advanced fabrics—while continuing to evolve the tactical and performance gear our long-time customers rely on,” Brown says.
“Many of our best ideas come directly from the field: operators, range-goers, fitness and training communities, and individuals who live with a readiness mindset.”
Although 5.11 products have long been used in other pursuits by the field-operators who have come to rely on those products in their professional service, 5.11 is now making a stronger effort to show how their purpose-built gear can perform just as well in a wider range of activities that fall into that pursuit-of-passion category.
“Marketing brings that innovation to life through storytelling that’s authentic to who we are and aspirational in spirit. We’re intentional about showing the full range of people who wear 5.11—professionals in uniform, athletes, adventurers, and everyday doers who live with
purpose. This approach allows us to honor our roots while welcoming new expressions of the mindset—training, travel, even lifestyle pursuits like golf—without losing our edge,” Brown says.
As part of its new era, 5.11 is also increasing its dedication to creating a seamless customer service experience.
“Customer experience ties it all together,” Brown says. “Every interaction with 5.11 should reflect that same integrity—consistent, informed, and mission-driven. The integration of product, story, and service defines this next chapter.”
From social media outreach and re-designing its website to creating in-store displays that tell a broader story and even overhauling many of its stores, 5.11 is committed to showing people what living a purpose-driven lifestyle looks like.
“It’s not new; it’s who we’ve always been. But the next era for 5.11 expands that mission. We’re bridging professional influence into new markets and experiences where those same values of grit, drive, and possibility apply,” says Brown. “Our purpose is simple: to build gear and experiences that help people challenge what’s possible and live their best life.”

EXPANDING ITS REACH
5.11 has long been well-known in the professional service fields, but thanks to a new partnership with EA (Electronic Arts, Inc.), it isn’t just tactical operators and first responders who are going to recognize the 5.11 brand—it’s gamers. 5.11 recently announced that its partnering with EA for the launch of its highly anticipated mission-focused game, Battlefield 6.
“Battlefield has always celebrated courage, teamwork, and the will to be ready for anything. These are values that lie at the heart of 5.11,” says Brown, CEO of 5.11. “This partnership brings those shared ideals together in an authentic way, connecting the real and virtual world through purpose and performance.”
That authenticity was the key to the partnership, not just for 5.11, but for EA. “Battlefield has always been about immersion and intensity, and partnering with 5.11 allows us to bring an unparalleled level of authenticity to players,” says Kyle Peterson, senior director of brand for Battlefield. “5.11’s heritage in outfitting those who demand the most from their gear makes them the perfect partner of this next evolution of Battlefield.”
For 5.11, the partnership wasn’t only about helping to add a higher level of authenticity to the globally popular game.
“Collaborations like Battlefield 6 allow us to honor our professional community while connecting with new audiences who share the same mindset—those who live with purpose, preparation, and passion,” Brown says. “Our credibility will always come from the professionals and tactical communities that built this brand, but our message now resonates with anyone willing to push themselves beyond what they thought possible. Whether on duty, on the range, or on screen, our approach remains the same: respect the mission, respect the user, and represent the brand with integrity.”
BEAUTIFUL SUPPRESSOR MARKET THE BIG,
by Brian McCombie
The removal of the federal suppressor tax should kick start sales into high gear.
In July 2025, the suppressor market rejoiced when President Donald Trump signed into law the socalled Big Beautiful Bill (BBB) because one section of this federal budget legislation removed the $200 tax on suppressors. With the tax reduced to zero (starting on January 1, 2026), shooting sports industry professionals expect huge sales to follow, though some also have concerns.
“We anticipate a 200- to 300-percent increase in sustainable demand for suppressors once this [tax change] goes live,” says Brandon Maddox of Banish, the flagship suppressor line of Maddox’s company, Silencer Central (Booth #13202)
“We expect to see a larger, sustained uptick, not just a promotional bump,” added Scott Clinger, president of SilencerCo (Booth #10560). “This [tax removal] will broaden the market significantly and likely will bring in customers who previously never considered owning a suppressor.”
Savage Arms (Booth #12821) entered the suppressor market in 2024 with the AccuCan line of suppressors. Beth Shimanski, Savage’s vice president of marketing, also predicts a surge of dealer orders for Savage suppressors. But, at the same time, she is not sure that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) could keep pace with dealer and consumer demand.
“The problem is that the ATF system may not be able to handle the anticipated increase in demand. If that happens, we could go back to a six-month wait for suppressor approvals,” Shimanski says.
Yet, well before BBB became law and rescinded the tax burden on suppressors, many trends and
shifts were affecting the suppressor market. Consumer expectations, for example, are far different now than in 2020, and past sales approaches may not work as well as they once did.
Suppressor technology keeps refining and advancing, too, to meet market demands. That also presents some challenges to retailers.
This year may well go down as “The Year of the Suppressor.” The zero tax on these units, plus the changes previously at work, have combined to create a new suppressor market. The big winners in this new market will be those retailers willing to adjust their sales and operational approaches to fit this changing business landscape.
So, just how large is the suppressor market?
According to the “Suppressor Owners Study 2025,” funded by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and conducted by Southwick Associates,
The lightweight Banish 9K is an advanced 3D-printed titanium compact suppressor designed for 9mm pistols. It weighs only 2.7 ounces and is only 4 inches long.
suppressor sales to individuals in 2024 were estimated to be $820 million, including the cost of the required tax stamps; 35 percent of these suppressor buys were from first-time purchasers.
The growth rate in suppressor registrations from 2020 to 2024 was an astounding 265 percent. Of the 3.14 million suppressors in consumer hands by the end of 2024, 80 percent were registered in the last five years. And all of that occurred with the $200 tax consumers had to pay in addition to the cost of the suppressor itself.
GONE MAINSTREAM
“Suppressors have finally hit the mainstream gun consumer,” Ernie Beckwith, president and CEO of Dead Air Silencers (Booth #75417), told SHOT Daily. “Consumers now range from not only the tactical crowd but also have found their way into the hunting market and general firearm recreational users.” And those hunters and recreational shooters may well require a different sales approach than that familiar with the tactical crowd.
“Over the last decade, we've seen a dramatic shift in consumer expectations,” says SilencerCo’s Clinger. “Today’s customers expect an educational sales experience. Retailers who take time to explain benefits, showcase suppressors alongside hosts (firearms), and can sell the experience of shooting suppressed are winning.”
Clinger adds that in the past, many suppressor buyers were looking for units with multi-caliber versatility in a single suppressor. However, today’s buyer is more likely to want a suppressor made to run on a specific type of firearm or for a certain caliber.
Over the last decade, Banish’s Maddox has seen the income levels of suppressor buyers broaden,
↑ Savage Arms has entered the market with the new AccuCan line.
too. “The consumer landscape [for suppressors] has shifted from being primarily composed of affluent individuals—often empty nesters with significant disposable income—to a more diverse and mainstream demographic,” he says. “This change has also seen an increase in participation from the hunting community, which was once dominated by varmint hunters. Now, it includes a broader
range of enthusiasts, particularly those interested in big-game hunting.”
THE TECH FACTOR
Suppressor technology keeps improving and refining, largely driven by the demands of suppressor buyers. “The trend in the market is clear,” Maddox says. “Customers want products that are shorter, quieter, and lighter.”
One way suppressor makers fulfill these demands is through the use of 3-D printing technologies.
“Dead Air has adopted additive manufacturing/3D printing processes that allow the use of designs that were unachievable with standard, subtractive CNC and welding processes,” Beckwith says. “Dead Air's Sandman X, Lazarus 6, Mojave 9, and Mojave 45 suppressors all include variants of our Triskelion gas-management technology that would be non-machinable without utilizing 3D printing technology.” That tech, he notes, allows Dead Air to produce stronger and straighter suppressors that are quieter than ever.
For Banish, the Banish 9K titanium suppressor has become that line’s top seller. Made specifically for 9mm caliber pistols, the 9K’s popularity stems in large part from Banish’s innovative 3D printing that allows for more baffles built into a very compact design—and at a reasonable price.
Suppressor materials have also improved. A decade ago, most suppressors were built from
stainless steel and Inconel, a nickel-chromium alloy. Both are still in use today, but the shift is to lighter, stronger metals to create suppressors with thinner walls and more baffles that weigh less than their heavier-metal counterparts.
At SilencerCo, the Omega series, for instance, introduced industry-leading strength-to-weight ratios using materials like titanium and Cobalt 6. The dominant metal used in the Banish line, including the new Banish 12 shotgun suppressor, is titanium. Likewise, Dead Air’s Mojave 45, the next evolution of Dead Air’s 45 AUTO silencer lineup, is a titanium suppressor featuring the above-mentioned Triskelion gas-management technology.
No way around it, though: titanium is a pricey metal and suppressors made from it will almost always carry a heftier price tag than their steel and Inconel cousins. The prepared retailer will offer a selection of suppressor types to capture sales all along the SRP spread.
What might all these changes mean for FFLs? First, says Beckwith, FFLs need to consider applying for an SOT (Special Occupational Tax) so they can offer suppressors. SOT, of course, refers to the Special Tax Registration and Return-National Firearms Act (ATF Form 5630.7), which FFLs must possess before they can sell NFA-listed items like suppressors.
“It amazes me how many firearm retailers still do not have a SOT,” Beckwith says. “The name of the game in firearms retail is diversification of revenue
↑ SilencerCo Omega 300 is a lightweight, full-auto-rated .30 caliber suppressor. ↑ Dead Air Mojave 9 is designed for use with pistols and PCCs chambered in 9mm.

streams. For the first time, an NFA item can be a relatively high-volume, high-margin sales item now that the wait times are minimal and the tax stamp has been removed.”
But he stresses that the license to sell suppressors is only the beginning. “I would suggest that retailers ensure that their sales staff become educated in suppressor features, advantages, and benefits,” Beckwith adds. “In the old days, retailers had one employee that was the ‘NFA guy.’ Now, every sales associate should be knowledgeable of both product and process to take advantage of the boom in suppressor interest.”
Don’t wait for customers to bring up suppressors, either, Maddox advises. “Dealers should proactively present the option of silencers to every customer who enters the store, rather than merely waiting for inquiries from those who specifically ask about them,” he says. “This approach is crucial because it normalizes the conversation around
silencers, making them less intimidating for those who may be unfamiliar with the process.”
SilencerCo’s Clinger agrees. “It's also crucial to market suppressors not as accessories, but as essential firearm components,” he says.
One way to show the essential nature of suppressors, Clinger says, is for the FFL/SOT to host suppressor demonstration events. Getting ready for such events is also a great opportunity to have sales staff brush up on suppressor advantages and uses, as well as on the NFA paperwork still needed to purchase suppressors.
The FFL/SOT also has another advantage: the ability to offer firearm and suppressor packages. “Once the tax on suppressors is voided, I anticipate a full lineup of Savage rifle packages that come with a riflescope, a Savage bi-pod, and a Savage suppressor,” says Shimanski. “ It will be a one-stop-shop type deal.”
Such packages could be very attractive to a range of buyers, including the deer hunter who’d like to hit the woods with a Savage Axis rifle outfitted with a scope and a suppressor. Or the parent buying a rimfire rifle, scope, and suppressor package for their firsttime youth small-game hunter.
The repeal of the $200 tax creates so many new and repeat suppressor sales opportunities for the FFL

2 VANTAGE POINT ARCHERY AC HOLE PUNCH BROADHEAD
Vantage Point Archery (VPA), a leader in American-made broadheads, has teamed up with Archery Country to bring bowhunters a brand-new fixed-blade innovation: the AC Hole Punch Broadhead. Designed by Archery Country’s experienced bowhunting team and precision-built by VPA in the USA, this head combines innovation, durability, and trusted performance.
The concept for the AC Hole Punch was developed by Archery Country in Austin, Texas, who drew on years of outfitting and guiding bowhunters. Their mission was to engineer a head that offered devastating wound channels, reliable blood trails, and uncompromising durability. VPA partnered to bring that vision to life, applying its expertise in CNC machining and one-piece tool steel construction to create this broadhead.
Key features of the AC Hole Punch include a spreader design that offers a three-blade layout with integrated spreaders that hold the wound channel open for maximum blood trails; six cutting surfaces that consist of three primary blades plus three spreaders, all of which work together to increase tissue damage and ensure fast, ethical harvests; and one-piece American-made construction using premium S7 steel. The AC Hole Punch is available in three configurations: 100 grain (11⁄8-inch cutting diameter), 125 grain (11⁄4 inch), and 150 grain (11 4 inch).
