Smith & Wesson® continues its legacy of innovation with two new additions to the M&P® lineup, engineered for shooters who demand uncompromising performance. These pistols are designed to deliver superior control, precision, and speed— whether on the range or in competition.
For more than a decade, the Burris Veracity series has set the standard for precision hunting optics. Recognized for its class-leading performance, ultra-rugged reliability, and award-winning design, the original Veracity helped define what serious hunters expect from a premium, non-digital riflescope.
Now, for 2026, Burris proudly introduces the next generation of Veracity riflescopes—a complete redesign that elevates this proven platform with enhanced optical performance, refined ergonomics, and innovative new features to help hunters find success in any environment.
The new Veracity series is available in three versatile 5x magnification ranges—2.5-12x42mm, 3-15x44mm, and 5-25x50mm—with five reticle options in both first and second focal planes, offering something for every hunter and every style of pursuit.
The second-generation Veracity is now more compact and streamlined, offering improved handling and balance in the field without sacrificing performance. Burris engineers have incorporated fully multi-coated lenses and premium ED glass to deliver the brightest, sharpest, and most color-accurate optical experience ever in a Burris hunting scope. The result is a riflescope line that performs flawlessly from
first light to last, with edge-to-edge clarity and exceptional low-light capability.
Hunters will immediately recognize Burris’ new R.E.D. Industrial Design, integrated into the secondgeneration Veracity, featuring the distinctive red ocular accent and aggressive, high-traction knurling on the turret caps and magnification ring. This new design not only offers visual appeal but also provides enhanced functionality with a no-slip grip for fast, decisive operation when seconds count.
A key upgrade across all second-generation Veracity models is the integration of Burris’ new Knob Synergy System. This modular turret platform allows shooters to tailor their setup to their exact needs—whether they prefer a low-profile capped elevation knob with a zero click stop for a streamlined field configuration, an exposed windage knob for fast on-the-fly corrections, or a custom laser-engraved elevation turret matched precisely to their cartridge and ballistic profile. Every Veracity scope ships standard with a capped windage knob and the Pro Elevation Knob—a two-turn, exposed dialing turret featuring a

zero click stop for fast, repeatable, and accurate adjustments in any condition.
The new-generation Veracity lineup features five refined reticle designs—the proven 3PW-MOA, Plex, Illuminated Plex, and RC-MOA, along with the new RCT-MOA. The Illuminated Plex reticle incorporates a bright fiber-optic dot (Fiber Dot) that delivers a crisp, highly visible aiming point in any lighting condition. The RCT-MOA reticle introduces a modern, simplified “Christmas tree” layout, providing the precise holdover and windage information today’s hunters demand without the complexity of traditional grid-style designs.
The new Veracity riflescope series is offered in the following combinations:
2.5-12x42mm (3PW-MOA RFP illuminated reticle or Plex RFP illuminated reticle)
3-15x44mm (RC-MOA FFP illuminated, Plex RFP illuminated, or Plex RFP reticle)
5-25x50mm (RCT-MOA FFP illuminated reticle)
MSRPs range from $1,019-$1,559.

Based in Menomonee Falls, Wis., Vortakt has partnered with firearms manufacturers since 2015 as a supplier of rifle and pistol barrels, combining precision deep-hole drilling with advanced barrel-making expertise. Vortakt began as a division of a larger manufacturing group to support firearms manufacturers seeking to ramp up their
production and investment. Soon after, they recognized an opportunity to modernize and disrupt the OEM barrel manufacturing market. By leveraging its operational expertise and investing in advanced manufacturing technology and automation, the company positioned itself to deliver greater consistency, efficiency, and scalability for OEMs. Vortakt became a free-standing, independently operated division in 2018 to ensure continued investment in the equipment and resources necessary to provide this dedicated service to its partners. Now a formidable part of the overall business, Vortakt not only benefits from critical operational best practices and shared resources, but also contributes to new perspectives, engineering advancements, and technologies that strengthen the group as a whole.
This collaborative approach directly influences equipment design and process improvement. Through daily use of advanced machines, Vortakt’s engineers and talented machinists gain valuable insight into production demands, working closely with machine manufacturers to refine performance and drive continual improvement for customers.
Gunmakers work one-on-one with Vortakt, providing all necessary specifications such as caliber,
barrel dimensions, and material. After sourcing the material, skilled workers then drill, ream, and rifle the barrels, turning them into barrel blanks. Depending on the customer’s needs, Vortakt can also stress relieve, contour, thread, chamber, flute, or process the barrels as requested.
Currently, Vortakt offers five levels of rifle barrel blanks:
• 100 Series: Gun-drilled and reamed with faster feeds and fewer tool changes for cost-effective production. Maintaining rigorous standards and SAAMI specifications, 100 Series barrels deliver consistent quality at production quantities.
• 200 Series: The most popular option; balances affordability without sacrificing performance. These barrels are manufactured and tested above industry standards to meet the needs of most firearm OEMs.
• 300 Series: Match-grade quality. Gun-drilled and reamed at slower feeds and lapped to remove tooling marks. These adhere to tighter tolerance standards with straighter bores, superior finishes, and improved accuracy even at higher production levels.
• 400 Series: The same match-grade quality as the 300 Series, with the added process of lead lapping to

remove nearly all tooling marks, resulting in a premium surface finish and consistent bore and groove diameters.
• 500 Series: The ultimate in performance and accuracy. Every barrel is pre-lapped, single-point cut-rifled, and finish-lapped, producing a stress-relieved barrel with tight bore and groove tolerances and excellent uniformity.
In addition to rifle barrels, Vortakt now manufactures pistol barrels cut to required lengths, saving customers time and money by eliminating scrap and reducing machine time.
Vortakt is a regular attendee at Supplier Showcase. “Since the very first Supplier Showcase, we’ve seen it consistently attract the right mix of attendees, companies, and professionals that align perfectly with Vortakt’s target markets,” says Chad Weister, Vortakt’s managing director. “Participating allows our team to engage directly with key stakeholders, identify emerging needs, and explore solutions that truly matter to our customers. The value of attending goes beyond visibility; it’s a chance to connect, learn, and refine our approach in real time.” Booth #52204

Target shotshells may look almost indistinguishable from one another. After all, each one is made up of a handful of basic components: a hull tube has a metal head that holds a primer. A base wad is installed, and powder is poured in. A cushion and a shot cup (wad) is installed, and a wad is inserted to keep the shot in place. And when the trigger is pulled, they all throw a cloud of shot downrange to break clay targets.
However, there can be essential differences between target loads, the components themselves, and how they perform. Variations in components affect everything from a load’s effective range to its capability for reloading. No one target load is created equal, and the many differences directly relate to that load's designated purpose. That is why companies like Federal Ammunition offer a wide range of product lines with extensive lists of load options.
Understanding the differences between target loads will help you (and your customers) navigate through the sea of options and help ensure they are shooting the best choice they can afford for the shooting activity they are engaging in. That’s typically competing in trap, skeet, five stand, sporting clays, or just shooting at targets for fun at a range, course, or in the back forty.
“In general, all shotshells share a few common traits,” says Joshua Vickers, Federal shotshell product line manager. “The head and primer are similar in all shells. However, they can be made of materials that vary in quality. Additionally, the powder varies according to the type of shotshell and its intended use.”
One of the critical features that distinguishes target shotshells from one another is the type of pellet

used. Most use a payload of lead pellets, but that’s where the similarities end. Better loads use harder, more spherical lead shot. The rounder and harder a pellet is, the better it holds patterns and the farther it will cleanly break clay targets.
The other feature of a shotshell that can really set it apart is the wad system. “Traditional wads for lead shot are molded from flexible, low-density polyethylene plastic and have a cushion section below the shot cup,” says Vickers. “The cushion helps reduce the number of deformed pellets and the amount of felt recoil. These conventional two-piece wads peel open from the front, allowing pellets to scatter.
“Federal’s Podium wads, used in our higher-end product lines, are an advancement over the conventional. The design of their cylinder-shaped compression zone better supports and cushions the payload at ignition, resulting in even less deformation, more consistent patterns, and a softer shooting experience. The Podium wads are also one-piece, so they don’t break apart in flight, which can distract shooters.”
It's clear that not all target loads are created equal, and the whole is equal to the sum of its parts. Federal does a good job in categorizing all the main differences by offering four distinct product lines of plastic-hull target loads, each with its own features and benefits that correlate to appropriate price points.
At the lowest price point is Top Gun. These popular, standard loads feature a straight-wall hull, an inserted plastic base wad, a striated tube, a brass-plated steel head, a conventional two-piece wad, common hard shot, and a standard domed cup 209 primer. The Top Gun product line comes in more than 30 options, featuring a wide range of gauges, payload weights, powder charges, shot sizes, and packaging options for Federal’s widest range of shooting disciplines.
Next is Federal’s latest sporting clays load, the moderately priced Master Class. This new product line is specifically designed for sporting clay shooters and offers upgrades to Top Gun.
“Specifically, Master Class features a version of Federal’s one-piece Podium wad, which was explicitly designed for its straight-wall hull, as well as harder, high-antimony shot,” Vickers says. “All other components are standard and similar to Top Gun. Federal Master Class was initially launched in 2025 with six 12-gauge loads, most sought out by high-level sporting clays competitors and FITASC shoots. Additional gauges and load options are likely to be released in future years.”
Positive customer feedback received after the launch of Master Class, convinced the company that it needed a similar line for trap shooters. So, for 2026, Federal has introduced a new product line called All American. These new loadings will, in essence, be

identical to Master Class, but with the most popular payloads and velocities used by trap shooters. The All American product line will be launched in seven load options and feature the tailored Podium wad for straight-wall hull, high-antimony lead shot, and blue hull.
“I’ve saved the best for last,” says Vickers. “Federal Premium High Over All (HOA) is a product line that features a long list of enhancements, which naturally come with an appropriately increased price. The shell features a one-piece tapered hull with integral base wad, solid brass head, and smooth tube for greater quality and ultimate reloadability. It’s a one-piece Podium tapered wad that fits and functions optimally with its tapered hull, and it also features high-antimony shot to enhance its performance. Engineered for the most elite trap, skeet, and sporting clays shooters, the HOA product line comes in more than 26 options, featuring a precise range of gauges, payload weights, powder charges, and shot sizes. HOA is most popular with competitive trap and skeet shooters who also enjoy reloading high-quality hulls.”
Additionally, Federal is one of the only ammunition companies to still offer vintage-style paper-hull shotshells in their Gold Medal lineup, which is popular with top-level shooters and anyone who likes the nostalgia (and smell) of shooting paper hulls.
Vickers acknowledges this is a lot of information to absorb, so he offers this “executive summary” that will serve dealers well in a crowded store: “Federal offers a range of hard-hitting product lines for target shooters. Top Gun is a quality lineup consisting of numerous options, delivering even patterns that consistently crush clays. Master Class and All American are competition-level sporting clay or trap loads with enhanced features for improved performance. And Federal Premium High Over All is the ultimate competition load for the world's top shooters, regardless of the sport.” Booth #11838 federalpremium.com

Since 2011, X has marked the spot—for extreme waterfowlers and turkey hunters, at least. Known today for their realism and durability, Avian-X decoys are meticulously crafted to mirror the real thing and evaluated in the most brutal conditions by outdoorsmen who grit through the toughest hunts on days when lesser hunters stay home.
The newest additions to Avian-X’s motion decoy lineup are the Power Butt Kicker Duck Decoy ($129.99) and Tip Up Mallard ($199.99), both of which deliver the ultimate in subtle, lifelike movement. Ideal for finishing groups of wise late-season ducks in windless conditions, the Power Butt Kicker features an ultra-realistic feeder butt with power-kicking webbed feet that perfectly mimic the feeding motions of live birds. When positioned at the water’s surface, the feet produce natural motion, wake, and splashes reminiscent of a real mallard feeding— quickly convincing sky-bound birds to come closer for a better look. Users can choose between two modes: full-on mode for 12-plus hours of use and intermittent mode for ample battery savings and 24-plus hours of use. It comes complete with a highimpact power module, a lithium-ion battery and a charger to keep the deke powered up and ready to go anywhere, all season long.
Like the Power Butt Kicker, the Tip Up Mallard mirrors a live puddle duck tipping up to feed in
shallow water, thanks to a patent-pending internal weight system that moves slowly along a threaded shaft, allowing it to smoothly transition from floating to a realistic tip-up posture. Incredibly effective on calm, windless days, this decoy creates enticing water disturbance and motion that’s visible from long distances. Conveniently powered by a rechargeable 6-volt lithium-ion battery, it runs for up to 12 hours on a single charge, depending on whether it’s used in Position 1, which cycles between feeding and swimming motions, or Position 2, which adds a partially upright posture to create even more lifelike movement on the water.
As for Texas-rigged decoys, carrying them will be easier than ever this season with the brand’s new Floating Shoulder Loop systems ($64.99). The teardrop-shaped loop prevents tangles and allows for fast setup and pickup so that waterfowlers can spend more time hunting and less time sorting gear. Each loop holds up to 12 rigged decoys and even includes a molded shoulder pad for added comfort during

long hauls. It is available with a choice of 6-ounce egg- or mushroom-style weights.
Or simply load, tow, and go with the all-new patent-pending Floating 12-Slot Duck Decoy Bag ($129.99). It holds and floats up to 12 decoys, making setup and takedown quick and hassle-free. Wrapped in Mossy Oak Shadow Grass over rugged, weatherresistant DUK-TEK material, it shields decoys against water, mud, and unexpected impacts. The 2.5-inch closed-cell foam liner keeps everything afloat and a rubberized mesh drain releases water to cut drag and weight. It even has a zippered top flap that wards off dirt, dust, and ice, and a three-foot tow rope that attaches to D-rings or belt loops for effortless handsfree towing across the marsh or over open water. LOWA was founded in 1923 when Bavarian cobbler Lorenz Wagner began making heavy work brogues for his neighbors in the small village of Jetzendorf. A century later LOWA has earned a reputation for crafting premium outdoor boots and shoes that blend outstanding quality and fit through innovative design and proprietary technology. The company now has a large footprint in the tactical/military/LE segment, where, obviously, their products have to be of a robust design. A recent example is the company’s ZICON boot, which according to Lance Taylor, general manager of LOWA Boots, was designed so the end user is protected and better able to perform their job. “Our LOWA professional users expect footwear that’s responsive, durable, and ready for anything,” he says. “The ZICON builds on that expectation, combining the precision and support of LOWA’s heritage with the lighter, more dynamic feel professionals look for in a duty boot. Together with our training and range footwear including INNOVO GTX MID, FORTUX, and FORTUX GTX QC, it reflects our next generation of performance-driven design.”
Other features include a slip-resistant covert sole, LOWA’s DYNAPU midsole to increase wearer
comfort, a waterproof GORE-TEX Professional liner to protect against moisture, and a leather exterior with Rayflect technology to reflect solar radiation and keep feet cooler. These boots also have certified slip-resistant outsoles that also resist damage from oil and fuel. The ZICON also can accommodate an optional orthopedic insole to ensure a proper fit and is available in three heights (mid, low, and high) and in women’s models.
In the hunting arena Taylor recommends the Tibet EVO, which now has two insulated models—the TIBET EVO GTX 400 (men and women) and the TIBET EVO GTX HI 200. These boots feature two-zone lacing, C4 tongue, Flexfit Synchro, and I-Lock. “The TIBET EVO continues to set the standard for serious hunters who rely on their gear in the harshest terrain,” he says. “By combining proven technologies like FlexFit Synchro and twozone lacing with updated insulated options, we’re giving hunters greater control, comfort, and endurance, no matter the conditions or elevation.”
In addition, the two-zone lacing with I-Lock allows the user to customize how the boot is laced, in order to reduce pressure across the top of the foot while creating a secure heel hold. The C4 tongue’s anatomical design molds to the front of
the foot and ankle, again reducing pressure, while the X-Lacing stud holds the tongue securely.
The LOWA DURAPU polyurethane midsole has been designed with backcountry big-game hunters in mind. The dual-density DuraPU midsole delivers all-day comfort because the PU material resists compression and rebounds well, which translates to long-lasting support underfoot. In addition, the boot offers two levels of PrimaLoft insulation: 200 grams for cold conditions, 400 grams for very cold conditions.

Taylor also offers advice on how the boots should be displayed at retail. “The Zicon should be displayed in a tactical wall setting, not mixed in with outdoor products. It should be sold to the intended customer, not just as a black boot. The Tibets should be positioned with other heavy backpack or hunt boots. Keeping boots in context is important for perspective to the consumer.” Booth #10162 lowaboots.com

n today’s overly connected digital world, our personal data is constantly being collected, tracked, shared, and often exploited, without our knowledge. From smartphones and smartwatches to laptops and car key fobs, most of the devices we rely on daily are wide open to digital surveillance and hacking. Naked, I’ve heard some say.
And while many have grown accustomed to the idea of being tracked, brushing it off as “just the cost of modern life,” others are taking action with Faraday cage technology, a 19th-century discovery that’s become one of today’s most practical and proven solutions for digital privacy.
Invented by English physicist Michael Faraday in the 1830s, the Faraday cage is a simple but effective enclosure made of conductive material that blocks electromagnetic fields. Originally a scientific curiosity and even perceived by some as a tinfoil-hat conspiracy theory, Faraday technology has since evolved into a modern defense against digital threats such electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attacks, RFID skimming, GPS tracking, and remote hacking.
In simple terms, a Faraday cage creates a shielded barrier around an electronic device, preventing signals from going in or out. This means your phone (and other connected devices) can’t be pinged, tracked, or accessed while inside a properly designed Faraday enclosure. It also prevents your credit cards, passports, and wireless key fobs from being wirelessly skimmed or cloned, which, believe it or not, isn’t as sci-fi as it sounds.
Although Faraday technology was once only used by secure government agencies and scientific labs, it’s now an essential tool for everyday privacy and digital protection. As the digital-threat landscape continues to evolve, everyday users, from farmers and first responders to journalists and corporate suits, are turning to Faraday solutions for a little bit of peace of mind. Few have embraced that need more than SLNT (formerly Silent Pocket).
SLNT has become one of the most recognizable names in digital privacy gear. And for good reason. The company has successfully bridged the gap between advanced Faraday technology and everyday usability, offering products like phone sleeves, wallets, bags, and even clothing to the civilian market.
SLNT’s phone sleeves are probably what they’re best known for. They’re sized for modern smartphones and block cellular, WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth signals. Reporters use them when meeting with sources, police departments and federal agencies use them to secure confiscated phones

containing potential evidence, and many everyday people use them when they simply want to step away from constant pings and tracking.
For bigger carry needs, the company also offers backpacks and travel bags, such as the E3 Faraday Backpack ($339.95) or the Essentials pack ($219.95), with dedicated Faraday “silent pocket” compartments. They don’t look like tech gear, just normal bags, but they keep your laptops, tablets, and passports from being wirelessly skimmed or tracked, making them rather popular with frequent flyers, first responders, and self-proclaimed “road warriors.”

Even the outdoorsman can enjoy some digital security, though, with products like the SLNT Waterproof Backpack ($249.95), which is a personal favorite. With RF-welded seams and the convenient roll-top closure, the bag is submersible, so rain, river crossings, or a quick dunk in the lake aren’t too much of a concern. Inside, it features the same Faraday protection as their smaller bags, ensuring your phone, GPS, or other electronics remain dry, secure, and free of unwanted signal intrusion.
Finally, the company has started weaving this same shielding technology into apparel and accessories, including the SLNT Faraday Jacket ($899.95) and Faraday Pants ($799.95). And while the clothing products are a bit newer to the market, they’re already proving themselves in law enforcement and professional security applications. And if that’s the case, it’s only a matter of time before such wearable tech really takes off in the civilian market.
But what sets SLNT apart from the competition, however, is its commitment to simplicity, effectiveness, and accessibility. Every SLNT product is independently tested by certified labs to ensure it performs as advertised. The goal isn't to make privacy feel complicated, intimidating, or expensive. Instead, SLNT designs gear that anyone can use, without needing a tech background or a hefty budget. It’s a straightforward, reliable way to take back a little control over your digital footprint.

Enhancing a company’s brand presence and market growth requires adhering to a well-executed strategic plan.
Meprolight, a division of the SK Group, is the premier manufacturer and global supplier of top-grade electro-optical and optical sights; self-illuminated sights for pistols, shotguns, and rifles; and night vision devices and thermal sights. As director of marketing at Meprolight USA, Eric Suarez has spent the last four years leading strategic initiatives that have significantly enhanced the company’s brand presence and market growth.
With a distinguished career in the United States Marine Corps, specifically within Special Operations, Suarez brings a wealth of experience in high-pressure environments and leadership to his role. After retiring from military service in 2016, he transitioned into the firearms industry, leveraging his tactical expertise and strategic vision to drive marketing efforts that support Meprolight’s mission of providing cutting-edge optical solutions for military, law enforcement, and civilian markets. His passion for supporting today’s warfighter is a driving force behind his work, ensuring that every initiative aligns with the needs of those who rely on the highest-quality gear in the field.
SHOT daily: What do you see as the biggest challenges facing the industry in the next five years?
Eric Suarez: In the next five years, the outdoor and firearms industry will face several key challenges. One of the most significant will be navigating the evolving regulatory landscape. As governments increasingly introduce (or rescind) new laws and restrictions, businesses will need to stay agile to ensure compliance without compromising product availability or innovation. Additionally, the growing concern over safety and
responsible gun ownership will require companies to develop and promote solutions prioritizing education and training. Adapting to changing consumer behaviors, particularly with the rise of e-commerce and digital engagement, will be essential for businesses to stay competitive and relevant in an ever-evolving market. Our industry has a very wide demographic. With that, we cannot focus on one segment without affecting another, so balance is key. In the end I believe a great company is one that can adapt and make sound decisions in a timely manner. Those that can will succeed; those that are stuck in the old ways will probably struggle.
Sd: What opportunities do you see?
ES: In the next five years, sales and marketing within the firearms and outdoor industry will see exciting opportunities. One of the most prominent will be the ability to leverage digital marketing and e-commerce to reach a broader, more diverse audience while gaining marketing data and analytics. As more consumers turn to online shopping, brands will tap into targeted advertising, social media campaigns, and influencer partnerships to increase brand awareness and drive direct sales. Another significant opportunity lies in personalized marketing, where datadriven insights allow companies to tailor their messaging and offers to specific customer segments. Creating a community through brand-driven experiences—such as events, strategic partnerships, and outdoor experiences—will provide valuable opportunities to engage with customers on a deeper level and foster brand loyalty.

Sd: When you get up in the morning, what gets you excited about working in the industry?
ES: My work at Meprolight and within the firearms industry is deeply rooted in my military background and my commitment to supporting the needs of the warfighter. Having served myself, I understand the critical importance of reliable, high-performance equipment in high-stakes environments. My experience drives me to ensure we deliver products that meet the exacting standards required by military and law enforcement agencies around the world. It’s humbling to know that many of our employees and their families still serve, and that our company’s core purpose is to be a global supplier of mission-critical solutions for military and law enforcement agencies. This sense of duty and connection to those on the front lines fuels my passion for this industry, and it’s why I’m dedicated to ensuring we continue to develop the best products possible for those who rely on them most.
Sd: How will you meet the expectations of your customers?
ES: We stay ahead of our competitors by focusing on continuous innovation, customer centricity, and building strong relationships within the industry. By closely monitoring market trends, regulatory changes, and consumer preferences, we ensure that our product offerings remain relevant and ahead of the curve. We prioritize developing high-quality, unique products that offer real-world solutions, including accessories and mounting systems enhancing the functionality of our core products. In addition, we place a strong emphasis on customer education and support (blogs, YouTube videos, and constant updates of our data on our website), ensuring that our clients are not just purchasing products, but are also empowered with the knowledge to use them responsibly and effectively. Leveraging advanced digital marketing strategies, strong online engagement, and personalized experiences also allows us to directly connect with our audience to build brand loyalty and advocacy. By staying agile, innovative, and customer focused, we position ourselves to lead the market rather than follow it.
Sd: In a very competitive world, how does Meprolight stay ahead of the pack?
ES: Staying ahead of the pack requires constant innovation, a deep understanding of the market, and commitment to excellence. While it’s true that we’ve been behind in the pistol optic and magnified optic space in the past, we’ve used that as an opportunity to not only fill those gaps but also disrupt the industry over the last 14 months with our new product offerings. We’ve launched a wide array of products that are not just “me too” but are crafted with the

goal of delivering the best performance at competitive, affordable prices. By listening to our customers, understanding their real-world needs, and continually pushing the boundaries of product design and performance, we’re building a brand that’s not only innovative but also trusted by professionals worldwide. This commitment to quality, affordability, and disruption is what sets us apart and keeps us ahead of the competition.
Sd: Optics technology in your sector (LE/MIL/ OEM) seems to be evolving quickly, driven by the demands of LE professionals and warfighters around the globe. How does Meprolight take advantage of this?
ES: Meprolight takes full advantage of the rapid evolution in optics technology by staying agile and closely connected to the needs of law enforcement professionals and military personnel worldwide.
Recognizing that these users operate in highly demanding environments, the company prioritizes continuous innovation and development of optics systems that integrate the latest advancements in technology. This involves closely monitoring emerging trends—such as advancements in night vision, lasing, rifle/pistol trends, and enhanced durability— to ensure that our products remain at the cutting edge of performance and reliability. Our strong emphasis on R&D allows us to rapidly incorporate these technological advancements into the product lineup, ensuring we deliver optics solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.
We also capitalize on our close partnerships with military and law enforcement agencies, using their real-world feedback to inform the development of new products. By understanding the specific challenges faced by these professionals, such as low-light conditions or high-stress environments, we can design optics that not only meet current demands but are also adaptable to future operational requirements.
Sd: Meprolight was founded in 1990 as the primary red dot sight, sighting system, and battle optic
supplier to the Israel Defense Force (IDF). Does that heritage give the company a competitive advantage these days? If so, how does Meprolight employ that advantage on an everyday basis?
ES: Meprolight’s heritage as the primary supplier of red dot sights, sighting systems, and battle optics to the Israel Defense Force (IDF) undoubtedly gives the company a significant competitive advantage in the market today. This legacy is built on years of close collaboration with one of the most advanced military forces globally, providing us with invaluable insights into the rigorous demands of military and tactical applications. The IDF’s high standards and our role in fulfilling them have helped the company develop robust, reliable, and innovative products, positioning them as a trusted name in optics for both military and civilian markets, both globally and domestically.
Sd: Meprolight’s vision statement says, “We are always looking to supply consumer communities with ‘tomorrow’s needs’ by continuing our long tradition of providing state-of-the-art solutions for any day or night conditions.” To do this, it seems you need to be able to see a bit into the future. How does the company do this?
ES: Meprolight’s ability to foresee and meet “tomorrow’s needs” is largely driven by its deep commitment to innovation, advanced research, and a proactive approach to understanding evolving market demands. By continuously investing in R&D, the company stays at the forefront of emerging technologies in optics, ensuring that it not only meets the current needs of military and civilian markets but also anticipates future trends.
Additionally, we leverage our extensive experience in high-stakes environments, such as military operations, where anticipating future needs is crucial. The company integrates this real-world expertise into its product development cycle, using feedback and data from field testing to refine and innovate its offerings. Booth #20039 Meprolight.com
As an IS 9001-2015 processor and stocking distributor of Special Bar Quality (SBQ) steel, Summit has the ability to produce, stock, and cut steel to suit its customers’ needs. The company can provide Gun Barrel Quality steel of all grades and sizes and produce custom blanks.

Summit Steel supplies manufacturers with a vital component of any firearm.
Just like the strength of any building lies in the quality of its foundation, the reliability and longevity of any firearm begins with the quality of the steel it’s built around. This concept is nothing new to the largest gun manufacturers in the world. And for nearly a decade, many of those manufacturers have turned to Summit Steel for the steel components that make up the foundations of all the firearms they manufacture.
It isn’t just the quality and the workmanship of the steel that has given Summit Steel such a solid reputation in the industry; it’s the quality of the
company. And for Summit Steel, that begins and ends with family.
Ross Bushman, CEO of Summit Steel, founded the company in 1985, but that certainly wasn’t his first foray in the steel business.
“My father started in the scrap metal business with his dad,” Bushman says. “My dad took over the company, and I started working with him right out of high school.”
When his father was forced to close the business because of unfavorable economic conditions, Bushman struck out on his own. He took out a second mortgage on his house and founded Summit Steel.
With his knowledge of the steel industry, Bushman slowly began growing his fledgling company. And while he had a very diversified customer portfolio from the beginning, it didn’t include the firearms industry.
“I hadn’t even considered the firearms industry,” he says. “Neither had my dad. I don’t know what we were thinking.”
That all changed 20 years ago when Bushman’s son, Jason, who is now president of Summit Steel, joined the family business. Since then, Summit Steel has grown beyond anything Ross had imagined.
“When I first started the business, we were mostly brokering and bringing in the steel that our customers needed,” Bushman says. “When my son joined me, that’s when things really started to kick into high gear.”
Once they set their sights on the firearms industry, it didn’t take long for manufacturers to recognize the benefits of working with Summit. As an IS 9001-2015 processor and stocking distributor of Special Bar Quality (SBQ) steel, Summit has the ability to produce, stock, and cut steel to suit its customers’ needs. They can provide Gun Barrel Quality steel of all grades and sizes and produce custom blanks. From chamfering, heat-treating, and cold finish steel, Summit has become the one-
stop shop for many of the major firearms manufacturers in the country.
The increase in business that resulted from working with the firearms industry also helped shape an expanded business model that allowed Summit Steel to better serve its customers.
“Instead of just brokering, we built a warehouse so we could maintain an inventory of the kind of steel our customers use on a regular basis. That way we have it readily available whenever they needed it,” Bushman says. “That also allowed us to provide for other customers’ needs as well.”
Summit currently has several warehouses and a production saw-cutting facility with plans to build another facility in the near future. This will not only allow them to store more steel, but more types of steel for different uses within the firearms industry as well as across other industries such as oil and gas, military, transportation, and infrastructure.
The warehoused stock also gives Summit the ability to respond rapidly to its customers’ changing needs. So when a manufacturer decides to do a quick run on a popular firearm, Summit Steel can get them the steel they need when they need it instead of having to wait weeks to give customers
Consumers may not know the source of the steel in the barrel of a rifle, but firearm manufacturers appreciate the quality of Summit’s Gun Barrel quality steel as well as custom blanks.

the steel that meets their exact specifications. And where that steel comes from is just as important to Bushman as what they do with it once it arrives.
“The stainless steel we stock is from a mill preferred by most manufacturers,” he says. “All our regular alloys and carbon stock we buy from U.S. mills. We buy as much from domestic mills as we can. That’s important to our customers and it’s important to us.”

Being able to get the manufacturers the steel they want, when they want it, is one of the reasons that Summit Steel has such a solid reputation in the industry. But it isn’t the only reason.
“We’re a close-knit family operation and we create our business on relationships,” Bushman says. “We recognize our customers’ needs and we meet those needs. We get the job done, and they appreciate that because that’s how they do business, too.” Booth #51804 summitsteel.com

New hunting,
target,
and defense loads are being announced at this year’s SHOT Show. Here’s a look at several of the most exciting new ammo offerings you’ll find on the show floor.
The world’s top ammo manufacturers launch their latest products each year at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, and this year’s list of new ammunition products includes loads for every discipline from big-game and waterfowl hunting to home defense and competition shooting.
Barnes is best known for their monometal hunting bullets, but in April 2025 the company announced that their new Harvest Collection ammunition would feature a lead-core bullet. Designed for use on whitetails and other thin-skinned big-game animals, Harvest Collection ammunition is loaded with Barnes’ sister company Sierra’s superb Tipped GameKing bullets. This collaboration has resulted in one of the most exciting new ammunition products for whitetail hunters in recent years with a proven bullet that promises excellent terminal performance and outstanding accuracy. These bullets are optimized to perform to 400 yards and are loaded with temperature-stable propellants. Harvest Collection is available in nine popular hunting cartridges ranging from .223 Remington to .300 Winchester Magnum. SRP: $39.99 to $44.99, per 20 rounds.
Also new from Barnes is their Reserve ammunition line. Reserve ammunition is available in niche, hard-to-find cartridges like 6.5-284 Norma and 7mm and .300 RSAUM, and since it is hand-loaded by Barnes’ in-house experts using premium components you can expect very low standard deviations and superb accuracy. Reserve ammunition is available for purchase exclusively on the Barnes website, and as a hunter who appreciates classic cartridges like the .300 H&H Magnum (hint, hint, Barnes) I understand how frustrating it can be to find quality ammunition for niche rounds. The Reserve line offers Barnes the flexibility to respond quickly to consumer feedback and create new products based on evolving demand. Reserve ammunition is currently available in six different cartridges loaded with either LRX or Bore Rider bullets, though the list of available cartridges will change periodically. SRP: $99 to $119, per 20. Booth #13012 barnesbullets.com

Black Hills is offering three loads with Sierra’s exciting new MKX (MatchKing-X) bullet. The original MatchKing has been well-regarded by shooters for decades, but it was designed as a match/target bullet and not a hunting bullet. The new MKX bullet comes with a redesigned jacket and softer lead core to promote reliable expansion and energy transfer down to 1,800 fps. For 2026, Black Hills will offer a 6mm ARC load with a 107-grain MKX, a 6.5 Creedmoor load with a 142-grain MKX, and a .308 load with 175-grain MKX. Hunters can expect accuracy that’s similar to standard MatchKing bullets from a premium hunting load.

Air gun hunting is growing more popular each year, and to meet the needs of these hunters CCI is launching High BAR Air Gun Slugs. These brand-new .22 caliber slugs are designed to enhance accuracy and terminal performance through modern .22-caliber air rifles. Available in both Segmenting Hollow Point and Small Game Bullet configurations in 30 or 35 grains, these slugs are crafted to the same high standards as CCI’s excellent .22 rimfire bullets so hunters can expect consistent performance on game. High BAR Air Gun Slugs will be sold in 100-round containers. Those who hunt small game with rimfire pistols and rifles will be excited to learn that CCI is also launching their new Hunter Series ammunition this year. These rimfire loads come with lead flat-nose 40-grain SGB bullets; they are lethal on small game without producing excess meat damage, making them perfect for animals like cottontails and squirrels. Consistent accuracy and lethal performance also makes this ammo ideal for varmint hunting and pest control. Hunter Series rimfire ammunition will be available in both supersonic and subsonic versions, both of which will be sold in 100-count blaze-orange plastic containers that are easy to store and carry in the field.
CCI Blazer is capitalizing on the growing popularity of suppressors by offering new Blazer Clean-Fire Suppressor ammunition for 2026. Available in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP, these loads feature Total Metal Jacket (TMJ) bullets and come with lead-free primers. Blazer has designed these loads specifically to reduce fouling in your bore and suppressor for reduced maintenance time, and these loads meet power factor for competitive shooting. If you run your handgun or PCC with a can, CleanFire Suppressor is a natural choice.
CCI Blazer is also expanding their Brass line of affordable FMJ target rounds this year with the addition of a 158-grain .357 Magnum load and a 240-grain .44 Remington Magnum offering. Oftentimes inexpensive target/practice ammunition doesn’t offer the consistent performance and accuracy that shooters demand, but Blazer Brass is designed specifically to be reliable and accurate as well as affordable. They’re also reloader friendly because they utilize standard boxer-type primers and primer pockets, and the reloadability of this ammunition makes it an even better value.

Federal is offering several new ammunition products this year, including their new Federal Subsonic offerings. Unlike some other subsonic loads that reduce noise by just a few decibels, Federal’s new Subsonic cartridges are designed to substantially reduce noise. Four loads will initially be available, including two Fusion loads (170-grain .30-30 and 300-grain .45-70) and two Fusion Tipped (190-grain .300 Blackout and .308 Win.). The projectiles have been optimized to expand at subsonic velocities, which makes Federal’s new Subsonic ammo a solid option for hunters.
In honor of America’s 2026 semiquincentennial, Federal is also offering limited-edition America 250th ammo in their Top Gun, Champion, and American Eagle lines, including Champion 36-grain .22 LR and American Eagle .45-70, .30-06, and .45 ACP loads. There will also be a special limited run of Top Gun 12-gauge America 250th ammo. Each of the America 250th boxes will come in special commemorative packaging, making it a must-have for collectors.
Federal American Eagle is expanding their rifle ammunition line for 2026 as well. New load offerings include 55-grain FMJ (200 count), 55-grain 5.56x45 (20- and 100-round boxes), 110-grain TMJ 6mm ARC, 50-round boxes of 150-grain FMJ boat tail .308 Winchester, 250-grain .338 Lapua soft point, and 260grain FMJ .450 Bushmaster. As with other American Eagle loads these additions offer reliable performance and quality components at a superb price point.
Clay shooters should check out Federal’s All-American shotshells that were introduced in 2025. Designed to offer premium performance on the trap range, these loads feature dense-patterning highantimony lead shot and come with Federal’s Podium wads that reduce recoil and improve patterning. This combination of full patterns and dense shot may mean the difference between dropping or breaking a target, and as every serious trap shooter knows a single miss might make the difference between placing or walking away from an event empty-handed. All-American ammunition is available in 12-gauge 1⅛- or 1-ounce loads in either No. 7.5 or No. 8 shot. At $13.99 per box of 25, this ammunition is very affordable.
Waterfowl hunters should take a close look at another launch from Federal Premium, the new Rob Roberts Raptor Steel. A collaboration between Federal and Rob Roberts Custom Gun Works, these 12-gauge 3-inch loads come with 1⅜ ounces of either No. 2 or No. 3 zinc-plated steel pellets and boast a muzzle velocity of 1,400 feet per second. All Raptor Steel loads include a plated head and clean-burning propellants, and all are optimized for use in Rob Roberts’ Raptor choke tubes. SRP: $25.99 to $30.99, per 25 rounds.
Two exciting new turkey loads will debut in 2026 as well. In honor of Realtree’s 40th anniversary, Federal will offer two limited-edition Grand Slam 12- and 20-gauge loads with No. 5 shot and three HEAVYWEIGHT TSS loads in 12 and 20 gauge and .410 with No. 9 HEAVYWEIGHT TSS shot, all of which will be packaged in commemorative Realtree Original or Legacy camo. Federal also collaborated with Rob Roberts on new HEAVYWEIGHT TSS 12- and 20-gauge loads with either No. 7 or No. 9 TSS.
Terminal Ascent ammunition has been popular with big-game hunters for years, and starting in 2026 Federal will begin offering Terminal Ascent handgun ammunition in 10mm Auto, .357 Magnum, and .44 Remington Magnum as well. These robust loads feature a copper jacket bonded to the lead core as well as an elastomer-filled hollow-point design, making them a superb choice for those who hunt game with a handgun or pistol-caliber lever-action rifle. Terminal Ascent handgun ammunition comes with nickelplated cases and bullets and sealed primers so they are suitable for hunting in the toughest conditions.
There are two exciting line additions for hunters in Federal’s centerfire line for 2026 as well. The company will now offer a 7mm PRC load with 195-grain Berger Elite bullets. There’s also a new 6mm ARC 110-grain Fusion Tipped load as well.
Federal Premium’s new Action Shotgun Rifled Slug ammunition, designed for action shotgun competitions, comes with a one ounce TruBall slug designed to center components as they travel down the bore for improved accuracy in smoothbore shotguns. New Action Shotgun rounds also produce manageable recoil, a major consideration when shooting a 12-gauge competition slug gun.
New Federal Premium LE Tactical ammunition is designed specifically for law enforcement personnel who use semi-auto rifles. These loads are available in 5.56x45 and 6.5 Creedmoor with Berger Hybrid Target, Sierra MatchKing, and Barnes TSX bullets. These loads offer match-grade accuracy as well as low-flash powder and reliable crimped primers. Federal’s major launch from last year—the 7mm Backcountry cartridge—remains the biggest news in recent years from the brand. In 2025, 7mm BC received SAAMI certification, and Federal is currently shipping their four 7mm BC loads. Reloading data is also now available. For 2026, Remington will add three new 7mm BC loads as well, offering more cartridge options for hunters who appreciate this revolutionary new rifle cartridge. For 2026 Fiocchi is offering several new bulk packs of their popular shotgun shells for hunters and clay target shooters. New 100-round Arkansas Steel non-toxic waterfowl loads are available, in 12-gauge 3-inch loads with No. 2, No. 3, or No. 4 shot. Arkansas Steel ammo is loaded with an 1 1⁄ 5-ounce payload of steel pellets and features an impressive muzzle velocity of 1,550 fps. With 25 rounds per box and four boxes per carton, it’s easy to transport this ammunition to and from the field. SRP: $71.99.
Texas White Wing bulk packs of 12-gauge No. 7.5 lead shot are also available in the same easy-to-transport 100-round carton. With a velocity of 1,250 fps and 1⅛ ounces of shot per load, Texas White Wing is a soft-shooting but lethal load for hunting doves and other upland gamebirds. SRP: $41.99.
Clay target shooters will appreciate Fiocchi’s new Shooting Dynamics 100-round target load packs. The easy-to-carry carton holds four 25-round boxes of 12-gauge 2¾-inch loads. Buyers can select from 1- or 1⅛-ounce loads with No. 7.5 or No. 8 loads. SRP: $38.99.
Also new from Fiocchi is their Backwoods Hunter line of hunting rifle ammunition. Designed to be an affordable option for hunters who use lead-free ammo, Backwoods Hunter is loaded with a monometal bullet that is designed to offer outstanding terminal ballistics and near 100-percent weight retention. Skiving on the bullet nose initiates expansion at a range of velocities, so Backwoods Hunter works on a wide variety of game at varying ranges. Though it’s ostensibly offered as deer-hunting ammunition, the durable lead-free bullet design also makes Backwoods Hunter suitable for notoriously tough game animals such as black bear, hogs, and elk. Fiocchi is offering Backwoods Hunter ammunition in eight different chamberings from .243 Winchester to .300 Winchester Magnum. SRP: $28.99-$42.99, per 20.
There’s good news from Fiocchi for hunters in straight-wall-only states, too. This year Fiocchi is adding .350 Legend and .360 Buckhammer offerings to their affordable Field Dynamics family of hunting cartridges. The .350 Legend offering comes with a 180-grain grain soft-point bullet and a muzzle velocity of 2,100 feet per second while the .360 Buckhammer load drives a 200-grain soft-point bullet at 2,200 fps. SRP: $27.99, .350 Legend (box of 20); $28.99, .360 Buckhammer (box of 20). Booth #11454 fiocchiusa.com

As usual, Hornady has several big announcements for 2026, beginning with the release of American Whitetail Tipped ammunition. American Whitetail ammo originally launched at SHOT Show 2013, and since that time these affordable loads have become extremely popular with deer hunters. The new tipped version utilizes either SST or FTX bullets (depending upon cartridge) and comes with a polymer tip that improves aerodynamics. The addition of a polymer tip increases ballistic coefficient and offers increased energy downrange and better wind deflection than non-tipped bullets. Both the FTX and SST bullets are optimized for performance on deer-sized game and offer the reliable expansion and energy transfer that hunters have come to expect from Hornady. As good as the original American Whitetail load is, the new tipped version offers improved ballistics with the same impressive terminal performance we’ve come to expect from AW ammo, making this an ideal hunting load for whitetails and similar-sized game animals. American Whitetail Tipped ammunition is available in a variety of chamberings from .243 Winchester to .450 Bushmaster, including 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5, 7mm, and .300 PRC. SRP: $43.84 to $59.21, per box of 20.
For 2026, Hornady is offering four .22 Creedmoor loads, including 69-grain V-Match ELD-VT, 80-grain Precision Hunter ELD-X, 65-grain Superformance CX monolithic, and 80-grain ELD Match loads. The .22 Creedmoor is a versatile and accurate round that produces low recoil and serves as a target, predator/varmint, and even big-game cartridge for deer and antelope-sized game (where legal). SRP: $56.05 to $67.87. Booth #12446 hornady.com

BARRELS I 3,000 FPS I 170-GRAIN

Advancement only comes when you break from the ordinary. When you see what’s possible. Federal’s 7mm Backcountry isn’t just a new cartridge–it’s an ammunition revolution. Its exclusive, patented Peak Alloy ™ case technology safely increases chamber pressures, delivering extreme longrange accuracy and magnum performance in light, compact, shorterbarreled rifles. The most rugged places, toughest game and longest shots are now within reach, and ammunition will never be the same.

Nosler is offering several exciting new ammo offerings for 2026, including several extensions to their successful Whitetail Country line of rifle ammunition. This accurate, budget-friendly ammo will now also be available in .243 Winchester (100 grains), .308 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield (150 grains), and .400 Legend (215 grains). The .243, .308, and .30-06 loads will be loaded with Nosler’s outstanding Solid Base (SB) bullet. The .400 Legend load will feature Nosler’s Straight-Wall bullet. SRP: starts at $37.50 per, box of 20.
Fans of Nosler’s Solid Base bullet have additional good news—for 2026 both Solid Base and Straight-Wall bullets will be available as components for handloaders. Solid Base bullets feature Nosler’s heavy boat tail base and the company’s Gen 5 tapered jacket, which results in repeatable accuracy and reliable expansion at a wide range of velocities. Nosler’s Straight-Wall component bullets were designed specifically with cartridges like the .350 and .400 Legend and .45-70 in mind. Straight-Wall bullets feature a jacketed flat-nose design that is optimized to provide reliable energy transfer and expansion across a wide range of velocities. Solid Base bullets are available in diameters ranging from 6mm to .30 caliber. SRP: starts at $26.95, per 50. Straight-Wall component bullets are available in .355, .400, and .458 diameters. SRP: $33.50 to $46.95, per 50.
Nosler will also offer their ASP handgun ammunition in revolver cartridges beginning in 2026. ASP (Assured Stopping Power) bullets feature a skived bullet jacket that offers reliable, controlled expansion on target, and these bullets are designed to offer maximum accuracy and stopping power. New additions include .38 Special and .357 Magnum ASP loads (125 grains) and .44 Remington Magnum (240 grains). Nosler designed the nose of the bullet so that it would feed reliably in revolvers and lever guns, so if you hunt big game with a .357 or .44 Magnum lever gun, the ASP load is a superb option. SRP: $27 to $31.75, per 20.

Last year Federal Premium launched the 7mm Backcountry, a first-of-its-kind high-pressure hunting cartridge that utilizes Peak Alloy case technology to produce high velocities from shorter barrels, an ideal setup for the growing number of sportsmen and women who hunt with suppressors. For 2026, Remington is launching three new 7mm BC loads, including an 175-grain Core-Lokt load. Long trusted for its superb terminal performance on game, CoreLokt is a versatile load, but for those who want to extend their maximum effective range Remington will also offer an 175-grain Core-Lokt Tipped 7mm BC load as well. This load combines the reliable Core-Lokt design with a polymer tip to improve aerodynamics and raise BCs, making it an ideal bullet for large, tough game even at extended ranges. Remington is also offering a new Premier Long Range 7mm BC option that’s loaded with Speer’s outstanding Impact bullet. Impact bullets feature a copper jacket that is molecularly bonded to the lead core and the aerodynamic tipped bullet profile makes it a great option for big game at any reasonable hunting distance.
Remington is offering some noteworthy line extensions in 2026 as well, including new Premier AccuTip loads in .350 and .400 Legend. Both bullets incorporate the Power Port Tip technology first seen in Remington’s AccuTip slugs, but the design is a natural fit for popular straight-wall cartridges like the .350 and .400 Legends. There are also new additions to the storied Core-Lokt family of cartridges this year including 125-grain .300 Blackout, 140-grain 6.5 PRC, and 175-grain 7mm PRC in addition to the aforementioned 7mm BC 175-grain offering. Remington has also announced the addition of four new Subsonic loads in .308 Winchester, .360 Buckhammer, .400 Legend, and .45-70. Optimized for use with suppressors, these Subsonic loads utilize premium components and tight manufacturing tolerances to ensure excellent accuracy and reliable performance through your suppressed rifle.
Remington is also adding new products to their shotshell line, including four new Premier Royal Flush offerings. In addition to the existing 12-, 16-, and 20-gauge offerings, two new

The Streamer is Silent Steel USA’s flagship full-size suppressor, built for shooters who demand maximum suppression, smooth operation, and rock-solid reliability. Powered by patented FLOW-IQ™ technology, it eliminates baffles, cuts backpressure, and runs cooler and cleaner across carbines, precision rifles, and high-round-count platforms. Available in 9mm, 7.62 & 5.56.
12-gauge loads (1¼-ounce No. 7.5 or No. 8 shot at 1,300 fps) and two new 20-gauge loads (1 ounce of No. 7.5 or No. 8 shot at 1,220 fps) will complement the existing product offerings. These copper-plated loads offer a slightly lower velocity than existing Royal Flush loads, which translates to reduced recoil and muzzle rise, but you can expect the same uniform patterns and lethality we have come to expect from Royal Flush. Also new to the Remington shotshell line is Final Strut HD tungsten turkey loads. Available in 12 and 20 gauge, these rounds offer heavy payloads of No. 6 or No. 7 shot and both are available in 3-inch versions. With spring right around the corner, this is a great option for turkey hunters who want the knockdown power this 12 g/cc tungsten blend ammunition offers.
There are two new handgun loads from Remington for 2026 as well. The company’s new Hard Cast ammunition is designed to defend against large predators (think bears), and as the name suggests, utilizes a hard-cast lead bullet designed for deep straight-line penetration and instant stopping power. The four Hard Cast loads available for 2026 include 147-grain 9mm, 180-grain .357 Magnum, 200-grain 10mm Auto, and 255-grain .44 Remington Magnum, all of which come with waxed grooves and nickel-plated cases. Also new to the Remington Core-Lokt handgun line is a 237-grain .45 Colt offering. With its heavy mid-section jacket that is locked to the lead core and plated cases, this ammunition is a great option for anyone who hunts with a .45 Colt handgun or rifle and a welcome addition to Remington’s successful Core-Lokt handgun lineup.

In addition to teaming up with sister brand Barnes on Harvest Collection ammunition, Sierra is launching a new and important bullet for the brand—MatchKing X. The Sierra MatchKing bullet—or simply SMK—has set the standard for rifle accuracy since the mid-twentieth century and has almost certainly won more rifle matches than any other bullet in existence. The MatchKing’s long-standing reputation for accuracy makes it one of the most trusted projectiles in match shooting circles, but that also means that any bullet to wear the MatchKing name has big ballistic shoes to fill. MatchKing X—better known as MKX to Sierra fans—looks to be a fitting follow-up to one of the shooting industry’s best bullets. The original MatchKing was a very accurate bullet, but it was never designed to be used on big game because reliable expansion was not a concern when this match bullet was originally designed. MatckKing X bullets offer SMK-type accuracy from a projectile that was painstakingly designed to expand on softskinned game to 500 yards. The MKX bullet’s draw-and-trim construction allows for a thinner nose cavity and its skiving initiates expansion. It also features a softer lead core than the original MatchKing bullet, which enhances terminal performance on game. Sierra’s MatchKing X represents an evolutionary step forward for one of the world’s best target bullets. MKX bullets are available in calibers ranging from 6mm to .308. SRP: $50.99 to $63.99, 100-count packages; $244.99 to $299.99, 100-count packages. Booth #13012 sierrabullets.com
In 2022, Speer announced the release of their Impact bullet, and this year the company is expanding their Impact offerings for reloaders. These bullets feature a clever bonding process that molecularly fuses the copper jacket to the core for impressive weight retention and deep penetration against even the largest and heaviest game animals. Impact bullets come with a Slipstream polymer tip that provides an aerodynamic meplat and improves ballistic coefficients for improved long-range performance. The Slipstream tip also helps initiate expansion at velocities that are 200 feet per second slower than similar hunting bullet designs. This combination of bonded bullet durability, superb aerodynamics, and reliable expansion at reduced velocities makes the Impact one of the most versatile hunting bullets available today. Speer is adding new Impact component bullets for 2026, including .243 (95 grains) and .264 (156 grains) to complement the existing .264, .277, .284, and .308 caliber offerings.

New options for law enforcement professionals in the growing Speer LE line include two new Gold Dot Tipped duty rifle loads (.300 Blackout and .308 Win.) that are optimized for peak FBI protocol performance. The polymer tip design and uniform jacket help improve accuracy, and Gold Dot technology virtually eliminates the risk of jacket/core separation. These loads also feature nickel-plated brass and reliable CCI primers.
Speer LE is also offering a new 9mm 135-grain Gold Dot G2 load. Designed to improve upon the already outstanding performance of original Gold Dot ammo, Gold Dot G2 incorporates a shallow nose cavity with an elastomer insert. Upon impact, the resistance generated by the target media produces reliable expansion. Risk of jacket/core separation is virtually eliminated, thanks to the Gold Dot molecular bonding process and structural-plated, pressure-formed bullet core design. The result is dependable straight-line penetration through a variety of mediums without the risk of over penetration. Currently, Gold Dot G2 will now be offered in 9mm (135 and 147 grains), .40 S&W, and .45 ACP.
Speer is also offering a new Lawman 9mm 135-grain training load. With its Total Metal Jacket (TMJ) design and consistent performance, Lawman serves as a dependable and affordable training option that offers similar recoil and point of impact as comparable defense bullets. Current offerings are available in .380 Auto, 9mm, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .40 S&W, .45 GAP, and .45 Auto. Booth #11838 speer.com
Loaded with Winchester’s new BC Max bullets, Winchester’s Supreme Long Range ammunition is designed specifically for reliable performance on big game out to extended ranges. Heavy-for-caliber BC Max bullets offer high ballistic coefficients and feature a heat-resistant tip and extended boat tail profile. Much like Winchester’s Deer Season XP and Copper Impact bullets, the new BC Max bullet incorporates a large diameter tip that produces devastating performance even at reduced velocities—a key feature when hunting at extended ranges. Next-generation bullet assembly equipment and matchgrade primers ensure the type of consistent shot-to-shot performance that big-game hunters demand.
New Supreme Long Range rifle ammunition is available in 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 6.8 Western, .308 Winchester, .30-06, .300 WSM, and .300 Winchester Magnum. SRP: $45.99 to $69.99, per 20.
The Winchester legacy continues with the introduction of American Lever Range ammunition. Designed and optimized for the lever-gun enthusiast. American Lever Range ensures that the guns that won the west will continue to win on the range.
American Lever Range bullet profiles are optimized for sure-feeding and fast cycling while uniform powder charges and precision-built bullets deliver shot-to-shot consistency. In addition, the use of modern propellants reduce barrel and action fouling.
“The lever gun has seen a resurgence in the last five years,” says Kyle Masinelli, senior director of product innovation and strategy for Winchester Ammunition. “While some modern ammunition can work in lever-action firearms, you really need specific bullet profiles to get the most performance out of your lever gun. American Lever Range is intentionally designed to feed and cycle optimally out of a lever action and priced at a value that you can run it all day.”
Initial offerings include .30-30 Win. 150-grain open tip, SRP: $21.99; .357 Mag. 158-grain jacketed soft point, SRP: $28.99; .44 Rem. Mag. 240-grain jacketed soft point, SRP: $40.99; and .45 LC 250-grain lead, SRP: $50.99. Booth #11827 winchester.com

THE NEW INTEGRIX SERVICE RIFLE SCOPE TAKES HIGH POWER BY STORM

WINNER OF THE 2026 AMERICAN RIFLEMAN GOLDEN BULLSEYE "OPTIC OF THE YEAR"

THE MOST ADVANCED SERVICE RIFLE SCOPE EVER MADE
Over the course of 30 years Leapers® has built multinational factories from the group up, owning our manufacturing A to Z with a laser focus on progressing our capabilities. When Integrix® emerged as our professional flagship line of optics in 2023, we saw an opportunity to go back to our roots and build the most advanced Service Rifle scope ever made.
In 2024 we teamed up with Nick Till and James Fox, champion civilian XTC shooters, to deliver top optics technology and rugged battle durability to an underserved market. After years of field testing the Integrix iXF 4.5X28 Service Rifle scope launched in July of 2025 at the National Matches at Camp Perry.
Building the scope on the Integrix® platform offers multiple physical advantages to other 4.5X low power scopes and common alternatives. The ultra-large field of view of 30 feet at 100 yards and generous eye relief of 94 mm allow any shooter in CQB and tactical situations to acquire with speed and ease. Combined with world-class glass, image quality, and over 92% light transmission, using the scope becomes like second nature.
The Integrix Service Rifle scope was developed for competition with Nick Till, 2007 National Service Rifle champion. Field testing began in early 2025 to integrate shooter feedback directly into the manufacturing process. After involving fellow champion James Fox we developed multiple reticles including a 6.5 MOA aperture for the highest level of precision. James used Integrix to sweep matches in Oregon early 2025, followed by Nick Till taking multiple wins at NRA Nationals in Wisconsin and a strong showing at Camp Perry.
In October 2025 the top 4 places for the 2400 3-Day Aggregate held in dusty Arizona for the CMP Western Games - James Fox, Nick Till, Conrad Young, and Trace Weisenburger, were all shooting Integrix Service Rifle scopes. James Fox broke the CMP record, set by himself in 2022, with a monstrous 2385-150X. With July of 2025 marking the initial launch and production ramping up, we are gearing up for a big season in 2026. Follow our Socials to see more unfold this 2026, and share in the glory! Integrix Service Rifle scopes are available for sale on www.leapers.com. Inquiries welcome at d2c@ leapers.com.

Dead Air Silencers recently announced the formation of Dead Air Defense, a new line of suppressors designed for law enforcement and military applications. The first release in this series—the CT5P—was developed specifically to meet the demands of patrol officers using semi-automatic duty rifles chambered in 5.56 NATO.
Built for hard-use applications, the CT5P addresses several areas of concern for defense professionals, key among them is reduced length, light weight, minimized back pressure, flash control, and, of course, sound suppression and reduced muzzle concussion in close quarters.
The CT5P is an ultralight and compact suppressor that takes the lessons learned from the venerable Lazarus 6 and Sandman X series of suppressors to a new level. By removing the HUB feature in the rear of the suppressor and using additive manufacturing, the CT5P achieves a shorter and lighter profile.
The CT5P is optimized to flawlessly operate with minimal change in bolt velocity on direct-impingement and piston gas systems in both 5.56 NATO and 6mm ARC. The result is substantially less back pressure and gas in the operator’s face.
The CT5P also reduces muzzle flash and spark to a near undetectable level for 5.56 NATO-chambered rifles with barrel lengths as short as 10.5 inches, preserving the operator’s night vision. SRP: $899 (direct thread), $999 (Xeno), and $1099 (Keymo). Booth #75417 deadairsilencers.com

Red-dot optics continue their hot streak, and LPVO s are coming on strong. And that’s not all. For 2026, a competitive thermal-optic market means retailers will see these in-demand products at all price points.
Long-range optics, the type that can get you into the 1,000-yard club, are being produced for every budget. In fact, lowerpriced models have similar features as the highpriced models. Red-dot reflex sights, both open- and closed-emitter styles, are now the de facto accessory for handguns, and brands are making it easier than ever to own one by offering plenty of models in a wide range of features and at all price points. Like red dots for handguns, LPVOs for MSRs continue to be strong, and new models are loaded with enhancements. This is a market where tradition rules.

Ifyour store is in upland bird country, or if your customers travel to hunt birds, stock the guns uplanders want. Upland hunters are picky. They want guns that are light and easy to carry, quick to mount and, often, pretty to look at. Besides serving your upland clientele, walnut-and-steel upland guns add some variety and some eye-candy to a gun rack full of black and camo repeaters. Even customers who may not hunt birds much are drawn to attractive upland guns. For many people, an O/U or a side-by-side remains an aspirational choice, especially if the gun is there for them to see whenever they come into your store. There are several trends and fads among upland guns you should be aware of as you place your orders for the year.
Very few hunters want a pump for upland hunting anymore. Break-actions and semi-autos rule, and I’d guess that among semi-autos inertia guns are more popular than gas guns for upland hunting because they are trimmer, especially in the forearm. Also, upland hunters don’t shoot the heavy loads that waterfowl and turkey hunters prefer, so the recoil reduction of a gas gun isn’t as important to them.
Weight matters to bird hunters, and light guns are easy to sell. There are plenty of alloy-framed O/Us and ultralight semi-autos on the market now. People love the way they feel when they pick them up at the store.
While 12s and, especially 20s, are the most popular upland gauges, there has been a lot of interest in 28 gauges in recent years. Sixteen-gauge sales are up, too. Upland hunters love small-bore guns.
Side-by-side guns have enjoyed an uptick in popularity. Still, the majority of break-action sales will be in O/Us, which most people find easier to shoot
Traditionally, upland hunters preferred shorter barrels, but 28 inches for break actions is standard now, and semi-auto buyers are split between 26- and 28-inch barrels, with some even preferring 24-inch guns. Some thick-cover grouse and woodcock hunters still believe in shorter barrels, though, so take regional taste into account.
Benelli’s 828U O/U in 20 gauge appeals to Benelli fans, of whom there are a lot. The Montefeltro and Ethos inertia semi-autos, and especially the Montefeltro Ultra Light, make great upland guns.
Franchi shares a booth with parent company Benelli. There you will find both the Instinct O/Us and the Affinity semi-autos. The Instinct lineup comprises both steel and lightweight alloy-framed O/Us in 12, 16, 20, and 28 gauges. These are Italian O/Us at an attractive price.
The Affinity line, likewise, puts a quality Italian-made inertia gun in a hunter’s hands for much less than the price of a Benelli. Lightweight and sturdy, the Affinity makes a great choice for hunters who want the firepower of a semi-auto in a trim package at a price where it doesn’t hurt quite so much when you drag the gun through heavy cover. No doubt gunmakers will be adding new upland guns to their lineups for SHOT Show 2026. Based on existing lines, here are the booths you’ll want to visit and the lines you’ll want to examine as you search out upland shotguns for your customers.
Over/unders are still the most popular break-action, and Beretta’s O/Us are great upland bird guns. Beretta’s 686 Silver Pigeon is a classic that received a makeover in 2025. A trim, lightweight O/U, it’s a bulletproof design. The chances of a customer having a problem with the gun are almost zero.
The Ultraleggero O/U is an ultralight 12-gauge gun that offers the versatility of a 12 with the weight of a smaller bore. It has cutouts in the steel frame filled with polymer panels to save weight, and, while non-traditional, it’s a good looking, easy-carrying gun.

Browning’s O/U lineup is full of good upland guns. The new 825 was available only in 12 gauge last year. I hunted with one of those 12s and loved it last fall. Browning may offer line extensions of the 825 for 2026. If not, its predecessor, the 725 comes in 12, 20, and 28 gauges, and in a “Feather” lightweight version with an alloy receiver that is of special interest to uplanders.

Semi-auto fans will find a lot to like in the A400 lineup. These are some of the best gas guns made, and the 28-gauge A400 Upland and the A400 Xplor in 12 and 20 gauges are also very appealing choices. Booth #13227 beretta.com
Both the Sweet 16 and 20-gauge A5 inertia semi-autos are terrific bird guns weighing under six pounds, making them among the lightest of upland shotguns.
Browning almost always has a wide selection of its O/U and semi-auto guns as “SHOT Show special” limited runs found only at the show, and it’s a good bet there will be upland guns among them. Booth #10938 browning.com

CZ’s line of Turkish-made O/Us and side-by-sides has a following among upland hunters who find the guns to be reliable and priced right around the $1,000 sweet spot. The Bobwhite is a traditional, two-trigger, no-frills side-byside available in 12, 20, and 28 gauges. The Sharptail adds a single trigger and a pistol grip to the side-by-side action. CZ has O/Us, too, particularly the Redhead, the Drake, and the Quail, which is a scaled-down gun that’s a good fit for many smaller hunters and some women. Booth #12654 czfirearms.com

Dickinson guns are made by Akus/Komando, one of Turkey’s very finest gunmakers. The Estate and Plantation side-by-sides are beautifully finished guns with traditional looks but modern metallurgy that is safe with steel shot. The Estate, especially, is a lot of gun for the money. The Planation adds decorative sideplates that elevate both the price and the gun’s appearance. The guns come in all five gauges built on proportional frames, too. Booth #71105 dickinsonarms.com

Best known for the Model 500 pump (a good budget upland gun in 20 gauge in its own right), Mossberg imports Turkish O/Us in its Gold and Silver Reserve series, which offers all the gauges at prices starting below $1,000. The Turkish-made SA gas semi-auto in 20 or 28 gauge also makes a very good upland bird gun. Booth #12832 mossberg.com
The Stevens 555 and 555E O/Us are feather light thanks to alloy receivers, and they come in all five gauges. The 555 is the base model. The E adds a silver receiver and some engraving. Either is a handsome gun in that $800 to $1,000 price range that seems to sell well. Booth #12821 savagearms.com

gun for. While not strictly a field gun, there is a wood-stocked field model in 12 and 20, along with compact and true left-hand versions and a dressed up Upland Field Model with an engraved silver receiver. They aren’t super light, but they are great all-around shotguns that work in the uplands, the wetlands, and on the range. Booth #12234

Retay built its name in the waterfowl market with reliable, well-fit-and-finished inertia semi-autos. Those same guns clean up nicely for upland work, once they’re given Turkish walnut stocks. Both the entry-level Gordion and the higher-end Masai Mara can be ordered with handsome wood stocks in 12 and 20 gauges at very reasonable prices. Booth #70435 retayusa.com

APDW is a pistol with a frame or chassis wearing a brace—or the ability to mount one—along with sections of rail or M-LOK that make adding accessories a breeze. The look is worthy of a “Mission Impossible” or “John Wick” cameo, but beneath the high-speed, lowdrag magnetism are assets ready to respond if the time ever comes to protect yourself and loved ones. There’s more than glamor and fun driving PDW-system demand, and right now firms offering PDW systems are already experiencing incredible demand. There’s good reason for those brisk sales, too. The design of a PDW appeals to the customization urge in every gun owner.
New firearm sales over the past year have been slow, but appetite for the added versatility of a PDW is growing exponentially. “Sales are increasing substantially as people learn about compact PDW systems that don’t cost a mortgage payment,” says Jeremy Mallette, marketing director and brand manager at Recover Tactical (Booth #15034). “One of the great advantages of Recover Tactical systems is that you can use your existing firearm.”
That advantage is one shared by every aftermarket PDW system, a decided advantage in today’s challenging economy. Companies contacted by SHOT Daily that offer at least one model agreed
with that observation. “We’re up,” was the chorus. That fact hasn’t escaped the notice of major gunmakers.
Ruger, for example, introduced its LC Charger 5.7 PDW in mid-2023 (Booth #72327). Palmetto State Armory (Booth #10371) teased development of a PSA X5.7 in 2024—rumored to finally become available this year—and rolled out a PSA X9 at the 2025 SHOT Show.
In late September 2025 Taurus (Booth #13038) unveiled its own version, collaborating with Strike Industries (Booth #20512), the company that helped fuel the PDW trend when it introduced the SMC Alpha Chassis for the SIG SAUER P320 in 2022. Many of the same sought-after assets are now available on one of the raging bull’s most popular pistols.
“The GX4 Strike Bravo is Taurus stepping in a bold new direction,” says Laura Prieto, trade marketing manager for Taurus. “By teaming up with Strike Industries, we didn’t just add a brace—we co-engineered a dedicated chassis and modular grip system to support it. That collaboration created an affordable, compact pistol that offers shooters extra stability, control, and versatility—expanding what they can expect from the GX4 family.”
Odds are good more manufacturers will introduce models this year, but consumer spending is tight right now. Upgrading an existing pistol, rather than buying a new one configured as a PDW with OEM furniture, is often more attractive. There’s also a recent advancement in firearm design that gives enthusiasts added incentive for going aftermarket.

The Raider X from Flux Defense is a PDW that bridges the gap between pistol and rifle.
“With the rise of serialized fire-control groups, aftermarket companies can now support the industry with products that were once limited to FFLs and OEMs,” says Thomas Janczura, founder and CEO of Tyrant CNC (Booth #70731). “One of the most exciting categories to open up is the PDW. In our eyes, it’s always been a popular space, but now with greater access, companies like Tyrant CNC can create products that push the category forward in ways previously not possible.”
To say recent developments have simply piqued interest among enthusiasts is an understatement, but most of the attention has nothing to do with Hollywood portrayals or cash savings. The underlying attraction is versatility, modularity, and features.
Tyrant CNC is scheduled to release a new system at the 2026 SHOT Show. “The Tyrant Weapon System 365 (TWS365) converts the SIG SAUER P365 into a compact, modular PDW,” Janczura says. “With its spring-loaded folding brace, removable blast shield, and dual-magazine system, the TWS365 delivers versatility, control, and capacity in a lightweight chassis—all while carrying up to 40+1 rounds of ammunition.”
With a Picatinny rail for mounting a weapon light or laser and another at the rear for accessories, a polymer grip on a lightweight aluminum chassis, and more the company is sure to attract a crowd.

↑ Recover Tactical’s approach is modular, allowing owners to purchase only those components they need. Pieces can be added later as requirements change or discretionary funds allow. The firm’s most popular model is designed for another wildly popular pistol.
Flux Defense’s (Booth #75124) most popular design, tailored for the same pistol, was released in 2024. “Our Raider 365 chassis for the SIG SAUER P365 was designed on the principle that a stocked or braced pistol should really not be any larger than its host pistol itself,” says Alex Aubrey, chief marketing officer for Flux Defense/Snakestaff Systems/ Antimatter Industries. “Keeping functionality at the forefront resonates with people who shoot a lot and take self-defense seriously.” Available accessories include a forward optic mount, side-folding brace, and more.
Recover Tactical’s approach is modular, allowing owners to purchase only those components they need. Pieces can be added later as requirements change or discretionary funds allow. The firm’s most popular model is designed for another wildly popular pistol.
“With the 20/20, you have an inexpensive system that uses a GLOCK. It is incredibly durable, made of glass-reinforced polymer, easy to use, and it works. It is easy to conceal and provides a solid platform with three points of contact,” Mallette says.
He emphasized the company does offer complete systems with all the parts, but the add-as-yougo approach eliminates the cost of purchasing accessories that may never be used. The list of items the firm offers is long and includes braces, cheek risers, rails, and more.
Which component is most popular? “Our number-one selling accessory is an optic mount,” Mallette admits. “People want to add optics to firearms that don’t have mounting options. As I mentioned, there are over 4,000 different configurations that you can create with the 20/20, which features over a dozen accessories.”
Think twice if you’re convinced these systems are designed by adults who haven’t outgrown their Lego addiction. These products are run through the wringer before they hit the market.
“All our products are designed, developed, and manufactured in Israel,” says Mallette. “We have a world-class designer, Tamir Porat, who designs all our products, but has developed products for dozens of companies in our industry, including Springfield Armory, IWI, Blade-Tech, Meprolight, and others. Most notably, he developed the Tavor for IWI. Our products are manufactured in a stateof-the-art facility that serves our industry as well as
the military needs of countries around the world. We have PDW systems in use by several police, security agencies, and military in multiple countries. Our products are designed for use in combat and defense situations where quality matters.”
“We always rely on feedback from our beta test team for real-world performance,” Janczura says. “It’s one thing to design a product that looks perfect in SolidWorks; it’s another to put it into capable hands and tell them, ‘Don’t bring it back until you’ve broken it.’ That input has been invaluable. Competition and innovation are what drive this industry forward. At the end of the day, consumers benefit most—and that’s what makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
Aubrey notes his team has years of trigger time under their belts, making his crew genuine “gun nerds” (his term, not ours). “Our motto is ‘Smaller—Lighter—Faster.’ Speed of deployment is core to the Flux Defense philosophy,” he says. “The last thing I will add is that us boys at Flux Defense, as a whole, are just a group of dudes who are trying our hand at the American Dream. Obviously, not everything we think of is going to stick to the wall, but that will not stop us from dedicating our lives to optimizing systems and filling gaps. That is why we started Snakestaff Systems as our response to the medical preparedness field and Antimatter Industries as our playground to make target acquisition and positive identification faster. Always be expecting some wacky stuff to come from our team.”
The company’s hot-selling Raider 365 took years of research, development, and testing. That kind of patience and attention to detail certainly proves the Flux Defense team doesn’t specialize in wacky.

After Mark Craighead’s untimely passing his wife Carol was charged with keeping Crossbreed Holsters afloat. She has accomplished that and much more.

In 2005 concealed carry laws expanded across the country and millions of firearm owners obtained CCW licenses. Mark Craighead was one of those new concealed carry permit holders, and when he set out to find an IWB holster for daily carry he was frustrated at the lack of quality holsters that were available at the time. Concealed carry was still in its infancy in 2005, and while there was a new crop of concealed carry handguns available (Smith & Wesson released their M&P9 that same year) holster options were still limited.
Craighead was new to concealed carry, but he was no stranger to firearms. His father was a police officer outside Denver, so by the time Mark entered the Air Force as a young man he already had experience with guns. But carrying a concealed firearm comfortably every day presented Mark with a new challenge. Instead of continuing to shop for a holster that suited his needs Mark decided to make his own.
CrossBreed Holsters didn’t begin in a boardroom or a chemical lab. Instead, the company started in the Craighead garage. The early 2000s were a period of change in holster design. Traditional leather holsters were being replaced by a material called Kydex, a thermoplastic that consisted of acrylic and polyvinyl chloride. Kydex was affordable and lightweight, and many gun owners thought it was the ideal material for creating lightweight, concealable holsters.
Craighead wasn’t particularly fond of the allKydex holsters he had tried. Sure, Kydex was

inexpensive, lightweight, and easy to mold (Mark started forming holsters in his wife Carol’s oven, which she did not appreciate), but Kydex also had its faults. For starters, it wasn’t as comfortable and quiet as leather. Some early Kydex holsters were simply uncomfortable, and discomfort is one of the primary reasons many CCW permit holders don’t carry a firearm every day.
Craighead believed that by combining the best features of leather and Kydex he could create the ultimate EDC holster, so that’s what he did. His early design was the Super Tuck, a hybrid leather/Kydex holster that was affordable and durable yet comfortable for everyday carry. It didn’t take long for Mark’s design to catch on

with other shooters, and he and Carol started their own holster company.
That company became known as CrossBreed, a name that not only pays homage to the original leather/Kydex hybrid design but also to Mark and Carol’s deep Christian faith. At a time when millions of gun owners were searching for a comfortable, durable, affordable IWB holster, the Super Tuck proved to be an excellent option. Demand for the Super Tuck and subsequent designs helped CrossBreed grow, and the company that Mark started in his home soon became one of the leading names in concealed carry holsters.
Carol’s faith would be tested when Mark passed away in 2012. During this difficult time decisions about the future of the company had to be made, and Carol was left to carry the brand forward.
“Mark’s passing taught us a lot, and we grew closer as a family,” Carol says. Although she had been alongside since Mark started CrossBreed, Carol had very little experience leading a company. The mother of three had worked in the medical field as a surgical technician for 18 years and had three children and a new home. The situation would have broken the spirit of many people, but Carol Craighead stayed the course. Supported by her faith, her family, and deep personal resolve she moved forward and took control of the family’s fledgling holster company. She was also supported by her loyal employees, without whom she says she could never have kept the company in business. Carol taught herself about every aspect of the holster business, from sales and marketing to manufacturing and distribution, all while maintaining a household and raising three children.
“When you’re in the middle of something like that you don’t realize you’re drinking from
BOOTH 80715 ARCHERY DISTRICT

THE NEXT GENERATION OF ROCKY STARTS HERE
a firehose,” Carol says. Despite the hardships and the challenges of being thrust into the front office of the company Carol managed to weather the storm and kept the brand her husband started at the top of the holster game.
It’s been 13 years since Carol Craighead took over CrossBreed, which means that she has now been at the head of the brand longer than her late husband. CrossBreed has remained a family affair, and today all three of Carol’s children work at the company. In 2020 CrossBreed took control of N8 holsters, a durable and economical addition to the Crossbreed family.
CrossBreed is still based in Springfield, Missouri, and today the company employs around 50 people, which isn’t shabby for a brand that began with a guy baking plastic sheets in his wife’s oven. CrossBreed and N8 Tactical holsters are sold by every major outdoor retailer, and the company’s email list exceeds 1.2 million people.
The last 13 years have been a period of growth for Carol and CrossBreed holsters, but the holster industry has changed during that period as well.
“It’s been exciting to watch the brand grow and to see holsters evolve,” Carol says. In 2012 when she took control of the company most every shooter carried their gun in the 4 or 5 o’clock positions. Not long ago, appendix became the preferred carry position because it offers rapid access to the firearm from almost any position, and guns can be secured and concealed in the appendix position even under light clothing.

“One of the fastest growing trends in concealed carry is off-body carry,” Carol told me. She says that for years we were told that offbody carry was not as effective as on-body carry simply because the firearm was not physically attached to the person. This created a risk that the gun would be lost or stolen, but today’s hip and shoulder packs are secure and stable and offer rapid access to your firearm. Modern holster designs like CrossBreed’s Modular Systems allow for improved versatility and make it possible for today’s gun owners to carry their firearm in multiple ways to meet their changing needs.
Although concealed carry holsters have changed over the last two decades one principle that remains unchanged is that comfort is crucial for any holster design. If a holster isn’t comfortable, you won’t wear your firearm, and a gun left behind in your home is of no use when you’re in public.
One product that remains in the Crossbreed line is the classic Super Tuck, the leather/Kydex combo holster that started it all. I’ve carried multiple guns using Super Tuck holsters over the years, and this is still one of my favorite setups because the firearm stays securely planted on the hip and the holster is always comfortable—just as Mark Craighead designed it. The leather backing allows the holster to ride close to the body, and I know that my firearm is concealed even when I’m wearing light cotton shirts in summer.
The Super Tuck is the holster that started it all, but Crossbreed’s current line of holsters has expanded far beyond the flagship Super Tuck. The company’s site offers both IWB and OWB holsters as well as chest, ankle, and pocket holsters. Several years ago, I tested holster systems for runners and other endurance athletes;
CrossBreed’s Modular Belly Band proved to be the most comfortable, stable holster in that test (the company currently offers their Modular Belly Band Package 2.0, an updated version of their best-in-class belly band). For deep concealment there are few better options than the MBB, and it secures your firearm more firmly than any other belly band I’ve tested.
Under Carol’s leadership Crossbreed has extended beyond traditional holsters. The company’s Bedside Backup Holster provides rapid access to a holster positioned right beside your mattress, and CrossBreed’s Pac Mat secures your firearm inside a backpack. The Purse Defender offers a secure platform for storing a firearm in a purse or other handbag, a far better option than leaving your firearm in a loose holster that is hard to access and easy to lose.
There’s a holster for every handgun owner on the CrossBreed site, but the company’s award-winning MultiFlex IWB/OWB holster deserves a special mention. When CrossBreed announced the MultiFlex I was more than a little skeptical—after all, we had seen “multi-fit” holsters before, none of which revolutionized the market. But we hadn’t seen one from CrossBreed. The MultiFlex is the only multi-fit holster that hasn’t disappointed me, and when CrossBreed claims that the holster can be adjusted to fit almost 300 different pistols they aren’t exaggerating. While filming television last year the MultiFlex became the workhorse holster because with a few adjustments and tweaking it could be made to fit any gun. If you carry multiple handguns (even if it’s simply to the range to shoot) the MultiFlex is the most versatile and affordable carry option.
Over the years CrossBreed has branched out into multiple product families, including belts, and the company’s Minimalist Nylon Belt is my go-to carry belt. The trim design, stiff spine, and thin buckle were designed by someone who

understands the challenges of daily carry. In addition to their holsters and belts, CrossBreed has collaborated with Vertx to offer holster/bag combinations that allow you to carry all your gear in an inconspicuous bag while still having rapid access to your firearm.
I’ve touched on just a handful of the new CrossBreed products that I find particularly appealing, but an exhaustive look at their catalog would take far more length than I have been allotted for this article. There are very few companies that offer such a wide range of quality products at competitive prices (my nylon Minimalist belt set me back less than $20, and I’ve worn it almost daily for a year without any damage), and that’s just one of the reasons why CrossBreed is so successful.
I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been for Carol Craighead to pick up the pieces and move forward following the loss of her husband in 2012, but she didn’t just keep her late husband’s company afloat. Instead, she helped expand upon his initial concepts and reinvested in the brand, offering up new products that appealed to every type of handgun owner.

Now the second generation of the Craighead family is poised to take control of the CrossBreed brand, and they’re in a prime position to maintain one of the top spots in the holster industry. So long
as the company keeps offering up innovative products that gun owners want, I suspect you’ll see Crossbreed holsters on store shelves for generations to come. Booth #14152 crossbreedholsters.com

With a minimalist footprint, the Ballast holster maximizes duty belt efficiency, allowing patrol officers to carry full-sized firearms without sacrificing belt space. An internalized ALS lever-lock spring shields Ballast’s core security mechanism; the textured ALS lever also allows for improved thumb contact and ergonomics. For added versatility, a redesigned cantable UBL belt mount supports 15-degree forward or rearward angles or vertical alignment for maximum comfort and an efficient draw stroke.
Other key features include an open-muzzle design that allows for easy passthrough of debris and a removable RDS Optic lid to protect the lens from impact and debris. The holster remains structurally sound even when temperatures vary between -50 degrees F. to 160 degrees F. SRP: $203.50—$236. Booth #11268 safariland.com
The TA70 ultra-thin tactical flashlight is a compact everyday carry light that combines 3,500 lumens of power with an ultra-thin profile and battle-tested reliability. Built for professionals who need performance without bulk, the TA70 delivers the punch of a duty light in a slim, easy-to-carry design.
The TA70 features NEXTORCH's signature dual-stage tail switch and onestep strobe for rapid response. A half-press gives you momentary light, a full press activates the disorienting strobe function. Likewise, you can easily switch between tactical, duty, and lock modes with one hand by rotating the switch. On Duty mode, you can switch between low, medium, and high to adapt to the light usage requirements of different scenarios. On Lock mode, you can carry it more conveniently without worrying about accidental activation.
The light is equipped with NEXTORCH’s Ultra Thermal Buffer (U.T.B.) technology. This system manages heat build-up during high-output use, so you can run the light harder, for longer, without worrying about overheating. Most highoutput flashlights suffer from heat buildup leading to throttling (reduced brightness), discomfort, or even the risk of burn. NEXTORCH’s patented U.T.B. system changes that dynamic. It delays or prevents thermal throttling while maintaining full performance, not just short bursts. This third-generation temperature control system uses phase-change materials plus an intelligent chip to maintain peak brightness while keeping the grip under 120 degrees F.
The TA70 features a built-in 1400mAh lithium-ion battery and a waterproof Type-C port for direct charging. Its one-piece aluminum alloy casing is drop-resistant to 6.5 feet. Unlike most flat profile flashlights on the market, it boasts an IP67 waterproof rating for added protection, allowing you to travel with confidence. With the Nano-Ceramic Strike Bezel, it can break glass efficiently for rescue or self-defense. The TA70 also comes standard with a tactical ring, which is suitable for use in many tactical and real-life scenarios. SRP: $119.99. Booth #40716 nextorch.com
