Friday 11th December 2015 Our News! We hope you all enjoyed the performance of The Nursery Rhyme Nativity. All the children performed brilliantly and were so excited to share it with all of their families! Thank you for coming to watch them. We are now looking forward to our school Christmas lunch and the carol service at Rossall Chapel on Tuesday and the visit to the Winter Gardens to see ‘A Christmas Carol’ on Wednesday. On Thursday we have a band to visit and play festive music for us to sing along to! Don’t forget to wear your Christmas jumper! The children have enjoyed sharing and chatting with their friends about how they celebrate Christmas at home with their families. They have discovered that some families celebrate in the same or different ways to themselves and that not everybody celebrates Christmas either! They have enjoyed listening to and watching different versions of the very first Christmas story and have been retelling and ordering the Nativity story in their own words. We are going to create our own stable and Nativity scene in the class for the children to dress up and act out the story for themselves! The children have had lots of opportunities for reading and writing. We have been busy writing in our Christmas cards, on our calendars and writing about our family Christmas celebrations. We enjoyed reading The Jolly Postman and have had great fun outside pretending to be the postman, using the bikes to deliver the right letters to each of the characters from the story. We have learnt all about the role of the postman/woman and the journey that a letter takes to be delivered. The children can now bring in their own Christmas cards to sort and deliver to their friends. Next week we will be writing our letters and lists to send to Father Christmas. In Mathematics we have been finding the total of two amounts by counting them altogether. We have been practising saying the number sentences and using different vocabulary for adding. Some of us have had a go at writing our own number sentences using the correct symbols! We have been very busy creating our calendars, Christmas cards and decorations. We hope you like them!
