The sTaff aT Sewanhaka High School has been collecting food donations for distribution in the community.

Sewanhaka faculty helps families in need The faculty and staff at Sewanhaka High School have been providing food and household items to families in need in the school community. Along with the daily grab-and-go meals, the staff has been actively collecting and distributing donations every Wednesday and Friday. Dean and teacher assistant Mike Ryan and retired faculty member Julie Fanelli have been running the operation with the assistance of Doris Brown, Deidre Kelly, Liliana Bascetta, Jose ph Botka, Kerry Jansen and

Maryanne Contarino. They collect items and food from the community and staff every Wednesday, then put together at least 70 bags to distribute on Fridays. Some Fridays, Fanelli said, they c o n t i n u e t o m a ke b a g s because they have received so many donations. The donation bags can contain diapers, hygiene products, dog and cat food, detergent, toilet paper, paper towels and other essential items. –Melissa Koenig
