The woman with a plan

IPLOCA is proud to support the Women in Pipe (WIP) Association. Its founder, Léna Muscillo, says the pipeline sector must do more to attract women and young people.

Léna Muscillo is the founder and CEO of LogIC SAS, a small IPLOCA member based in France specialising in traceability services. She enjoys being on the road, spending the better part of the year travelling and working on job sites. In addition to balancing a busy work schedule and caring for her family, she is also passionate about raising awareness of the pipeline industry. She was recently invited to meet with 50 high school students aged 16 in France. After speaking to them about the pipeline industry she asked who would be interested in working in the sector. The response was unequivocal, only two young men raised their hands. There is a long way to go, she concedes.

“Today, with growing pressure on human resources, workforce availability has become a key issue in the construction, operation, and maintenance of pressurized networks. Yet young people are unaware of these professions and the opportunities within the industry,” she explains.

“Women in Pipe (WIP) is an association committed to promoting careers in the pressurized pipeline sector and highlighting the essential role that women can play within it. In an industry often perceived as technical, maledominated, and lacking appeal, WIP works to challenge these perceptions and open the door to anyone—especially women—interested in contributing to this vital field.”

WIP is taking concrete action to achieve its goals through a range of initiatives. These include developing tailored vocational training programs, organising knowledgesharing events, conducting awareness sessions in schools, and managing a mentorship programme to support professional development.

The association is supported by Storengy (a subsidiary of ENGIE), LogIC and IPLOCA. Feel free to contact Léna if you are interested in the activities of the association: lena.muscillo@womeninpipe.com
