Letter from the President
by Pedemex BV
The countdown has begun to IPLOCA’s 57th Annual Convention in Izmir, Türkiye!
I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to all our sponsors for making this wonderful event possible. Their generous support is essential to the success of our convention. Following three days of cultural programmes curated specifically for our members, the Open General Meetings will feature presentations about AI, post-globalisation and the energy transition, the German gas grid landscape, the art of pipeline logistics, construction technology innovation and much more. Our lineup of excellent speakers includes Richard Allen, Dr. Gunnar Brandin, Elchin Ibadov, Volkan Kara, Michael Mazur, Bill Olson and Paul Rebello.
The convention will mark the end of my one-year term as IPLOCA President, as I will pass the torch to our 1st Vice President Saji Khoury. After attending IPLOCA events for over 30 years and serving on the Board for the past four, it has been a true honour and a privilege to fulfil the role of President over the past year. I’m very proud of what we have achieved - the exceptionally successful Regional Meetings held in Buenos Aires and Krakow, and the HSE & CSR Workshop and two Novel Construction Sessions held in Lisbon and Palermo. Every year, more and more members take part in our various events throughout the year, showing how much they value these gatherings. I’m also pleased to see how the NextGen Network, a group created for young professionals to connect globally, has grown from a pilot project to a popular network skilfully run by Saji Khoury.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the staff of the Secretariat for their outstanding work during my presidency. I also wish to thank the Board of Directors and the members of our Association for their support throughout my term.
Looking ahead, the HSE & CSR Workshop and the Novel Construction Fall Session will be held in Budapest this year. Given the appealing destination and a rich agenda, we expect great interest in this event, so make sure you register early.
We also anticipate a high attendance at our Regional Meeting in Houston, Texas, the centre of the global energy industry. Our members in the region and the Secretariat are actively planning what is set to be a key event for our industry. I hope you will join us in Houston on 11 March 2026!
Finally, the 2024 HSE Statistics Report has just been released and contains some interesting findings, so make sure to read it and take steps to improve your employees’ health and safety.
I look forward to welcoming you to Izmir!
Best regards,
