NLCS Jeju Alumni

Principal’s Welcome “

It is a huge privilege to lead this vibrant school community; a place where curiosity thrives, ambition is encouraged, and learning is both rigorous and joyful.

We are passionate about providing a deep and rich holistic education for the young people in our care; one centred around the three pillars of excellence that define a NLCS education; ambitious academic scholarship, outstanding pastoral care and broad experiences and opportunities beyond the curriculum.

At NLCS Jeju, we believe that academic learning is at its most powerful when paired with a genuine love for discovery. Our classrooms hum with the energy of inquiry, where students are challenged to think deeply, question boldly, and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways. We are committed to nurturing not only exceptional scholars, but also well-rounded young people who approach learning with enthusiasm and integrity.

Ours is a community built on respect, kindness, and collaboration. We take time to know each student as an individual, valuing their unique perspectives and ensuring they feel supported, understood, and inspired. This is a place that seeks to provide ‘floors not ceilings’ for all of its students; a school where everyone gets the chance to pursue their own passions and talents in a happy, safe and nurturing environment. The friendships forged here between our students, and the wonderful sense of shared purpose between our staff and the children in their care, are a testament to the spirit of openness and mutual respect that defines our school.

We know that education extends far beyond examination results and NLCS Jeju is a school where there is always a plethora of diverse activities going on. Through a rich tapestry of co-curricular and enrichment opportunities – from the arts and sciences to sport, service, and leadership – students explore their passions, develop resilience, and discover new talents. This breadth of experience equips them to embrace the world beyond school with confidence, creativity, and compassion.

As Principal, I am immensely proud of the remarkable achievements of our students; not only in the academic sphere, but also in their personal growth and contributions to both the local and global community. It is a privilege to lead a school where intellectual ambition is matched by a spirit of joy, where learning is not just a pursuit, but a celebration. The outstanding International Baccalaureate Diploma results that our departing classes achieve each year, and the range of global top tier universities and colleges that they then advance to and achieve further success at, is the culmination of our values, ethos and work ethic at NLCS Jeju.

I warmly invite you to visit, to meet our dedicated staff and extraordinary students, and to experience firsthand the energy, warmth, and excellence that make our school such a special place to learn and grow.

They possess deep knowledge of both the IGCSE and IBDP curriculums and are passionate about their subjects and their own lifelong learning. Our teachers regularly engage in their own continuous professional development. The majority of our faculty teaching staff hold advanced degrees, including MAs and PhDs.

School Structure

NLCS Jeju provides an exceptional international education for boys and girls. Its unique ‘Diamond Model’ combines the advantages of single-sex education with the benefits of co-education. From ages 4 to 11, students learn together in mixedgender classrooms, fostering collaboration and mutual understanding. Between ages 11 and 16, they transition to single-sex education, allowing for tailored academic and personal development, while boys and girls continue to interact and grow together

outside of the classroom. In the Sixth Form, students return to a co-educational setting, equipping them further with the inter-personal skills and confidence to thrive at university and beyond. This holistic approach delivers the best of both educational paradigms; single-sex and co-educational learning at the most age-appropriate points for each in a child’s cognitive and emotional development.

NLCS Jeju Curriculum

The curriculum at NLCS Jeju is modeled on the exceptional education standards of NLCS UK and the International Baccalaureate learner profile, which is then further enriched with our own bespoke enhancements to meet the particular needs of our students.

In the Junior School, students in Reception embark on their educational journey with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, which nurtures a strong foundation in early learning and development. As they progress, they transition smoothly to the NLCS Junior School Curriculum, which supports their academic growth through to Year 6. Our goal is to inspire a genuine passion for learning, fostering curiosity and enthusiasm for each subject while motivating students to explore and achieve their full potential.

In the Senior School , students in Years 7 to 9 continue with bespoke programs of study developed by individual departments as part of the NLCS curriculum. These tailored programs aim to cultivate a strong foundation of knowledge and skills while fostering intellectual curiosity, academic excellence, and a lifelong passion for learning in each subject. In Years 10 & 11 , students study International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) courses,

predominantly in partnership with Cambridge University Assessments, developing their academic foundation with a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum. In Years 12 & 13, they advance to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), the most prestigious globally recognized qualification for students aged 16-18 that prepares them for success in higher education and future opportunities.

In line with educational regulations, we also provide Korean Language, Korean History, and Korean Social Studies to meet the requirements for Korean students.

Strong Foundation for Learning Holistic Growth and Exploration

At NLCS Jeju, the Junior School curriculum is designed to challenge, inspire, and captivate our students. We believe that every subject has the power to spark curiosity and enthusiasm in young minds. We aim to cultivate students who are deeply passionate about their studies and motivated to learn through that passion. By tailoring teaching and learning to the individual needs and interests of each child, we ensure that all students are empowered to achieve their full potential.

Our Junior School is a place where children grow into curious, confident, and independent learners. A dedicated team of qualified teachers and learning assistants nurtures each child, guiding them to discover their passions both inside and outside the classroom while navigating a vibrant and dynamic school life. Through a consistent focus on our own unique set of Learning Habits, we equip students with the strong roots needed for stability and resilience, as well as the wings to pursue their dreams and ambitions. We aim for every child to take pride in their achievements, appreciate the individuality and abilities of others, and uphold respect and tolerance as core values on their journey of growth.

Nurturing and Personalized Support

We prioritize strong relationships between staff, children, and parents, ensuring students feel happy, safe, and supported to reach their full potential. Pastoral care is at the core of everything we do, both in school and beyond, with tailored support to remove barriers to learning. Our Emotional Guidance Counsellors work alongside the Pastoral team to support students and families with specific needs. We foster a strong home-school partnership through regular parent consultations and events such as coffee mornings, curriculum sessions, and leadership workshops, ensuring a collaborative approach to every child’s growth and success.
