Senior School Winter Assessment Information

BIOLOGY 2 hours 1.1 – 1.5 tested. Includes statistics and an essay question.

BUSINESS STUDIES 2 hours

Pupils should revise all content completed prior to examinations in the following booklets:

• 1B – Communication, EoS, and DEoS

• 1C – Business Strategy and Planning, Decision Tree Analysis, and Contingency Planning 1D (part 1) –Company Accounts; (part 2) – Ratios and Investment

CHEMISTRY 2 hours Topics: 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5 & 4.6

CLASS CIV 2 hours

Students should revise the following:

Virgil Aeneid (All Books)

Homer Odyssey (up to Book 12)

(Elements of ‘Democracy and the Athenians’ and ‘Imperial Image’ will be tested in advance of the examination)

COMPUTER SCIENCE 1 hour during examination period; 1 session during class time

Reading examination

Students will complete Listening and Speaking examinations prior to the examination period. Class teachers will advise on exact date.

FURTHER MATHS 2 hours

All Pure content covered will be examined. Staff will tell students of all topics to be included.

An Applied test will take place in class in late November covering all content.

The overall score will be made up of 50% from the Applied test and 50% from Pure examination.

Students should revise materials relating to vocabulary from the topic of Education:

Students will complete a Listening and Speaking examination prior to the examination period. Class teachers will advise on exact dates This will involve a discussion on students’ chosen research topic and a general conversation.

Students will complete a Literature essay either prior to or post the examination period. Class teachers will advise on exact date.

• Interest Groups

• Functions and powers of Congress: representative, legislative, scrutiny

• Effectiveness of Congress in carrying out these functions

• How constitution defines the powers of the President

HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE NO EXAM

HISTORY 1hr 15 mins Full A21 course to be revised - Constitutional, revolutionary and cultural nationalism and unionism 1800-1900

MATHEMATICS 2 hours

All Pure content covered will be examined. Staff will tell students of all topics to be included. An Applied test will take place in class in late November covering all Mechanics content. The overall score will be made up of 30% from the Applied test and 70% from Pure examination.
