experiences, crafted by real people

“With me, you’ll experience moments straight out of a dream. Can you hear them? The whispers of Greek philosophers echoing through this ancient forest. Stories from people around the world come alive on this endless beach. Here, the sea and sky unite to frame the most mythical mountain of all – Mount Olympus. And the entire Aegean unfolds its flavours before you. No, I’m not a dream. I am Sani Resort – a sanctuary full of stories and experiences.”
— Sani Resort.
Minister of Economy and Finance

Tourism is one of the most dynamic and resilient pillars of the Greek economy — and a living expression of how Greece shares its creativity, hospitality, and timeless values with the world. It embodies the openness, optimism, and outward-looking spirit that define the Greek people.
Each year, Greece welcomes millions of visitors who come to discover its culture and natural beauty — and many who choose to stay, invest, and create here. We are broadening the horizon of Greek tourism: strengthening the silver economy, expanding infrastructure for conference, health, and thematic tourism, and building a stable, welcoming framework for non-domiciled residents who see in Greece
an ideal place to live, work, and flourish. Greece today is beautiful, open, and vibrant — 365 days a year.
The World Travel Market in London remains a landmark gathering for the global tourism community. Greece participates with confidence, representing an economy that is transforming — investing in innovation, sustainability, and the enterprises that drive growth across the country.
I warmly congratulate Money & Tourism magazine for its 21 consecutive years at the World Travel Market and for its valuable contribution to the global promotion of Greece. Our enduring partnership with our British friends and collaborators continues to be a cornerstone of genuine, sustainable, and mutually beneficial growth in tourism.

The Greek National Tourism Organization is pleased to reaffirm Greece’s vision for a sustainable, competitive, and forward-looking tourism sector. At a time of global challenges and opportunities, our goal is to ensure a balanced approach—one that embraces digital transformation, fosters innovation, and safeguards our unique cultural and natural heritage.
Tourism in Greece is not only a cornerstone of our economy, but also a bridge of people-to-people understanding, creativity, and resilience. By strengthening partnerships, investing in sustainability, and placing human experience at the center of our efforts, we aim to create authentic, year-round opportunities for travelers while supporting local communities.
This year’s 21st English edition of Money & Tourism, which also marks the 30th anniversary of the magazine’s continuous presence, is a remarkable milestone that deserves heartfelt congratulations. Over the years, the magazine has consistently fostered dialogue between tourism and finance, providing valuable insights to the industry. On this special occasion, I warmly congratulate the editorial team and wish them continued success, with many more years of inspiring ideas, fruitful partnerships, and meaningful contributions to the global tourism community.
I am confident that the road ahead will bring new achievements for Greek tourism, strengthening its position as a global leader in hospitality and sustainable development.

Welcome to the South Aegean – the heart of the Greek islands and a destination where authenticity meets innovation.
The South Aegean Region, home to the Cyclades and the Dodecanese, is a constellation of more than 50 islands, each with its own story to tell. From the iconic sunsets of Santorini and the cosmopolitan flair of Mykonos, to the medieval grandeur of Rhodes and the healing traditions of Kos, and on to the quiet elegance of Naxos, Paros, and Milos – our islands are a living mosaic of history, culture, and natural wonder.
Yet, what truly defines the South Aegean is not only its breathtaking beauty, but its vision for the future of tourism. For us, tourism is more than numbers; it is about people, communities, and meaningful connections. It is about ensuring that the treasures we share today are safeguarded for generations to come.
Our islands lead the way in sustainable practices and innovation:
• Astypalea as the Mediterranean’s first smart and sustainable island.
• Halki, the first GR-Eco Island, achieving climate neutrality.
• Tilos, the world’s first Zero-Waste Certified island.
• Rhodes, reimagining tourism through the Co-Lab Sustainable Destination initiative.
These milestones symbolize our determination to set new standards for responsible travel while preserving the essence of island life. They also reflect our belief that sustainability, resilience, and quality are the cornerstones of tourism’s future.
As the European Region of Gastronomy 2019, we proudly celebrate a culinary heritage that enriches every visitor’s experience – flavors deeply rooted in history, land, and community.
The South Aegean is not only a destination to be discovered; it is a promise of excellence, a hub of innovation, and a shared journey towards a sustainable future. We invite you to explore our islands, experience their uniqueness, and be inspired by their stories.

Crete welcomes you with an open heart and the timeless warmth that defines the soul of our island. As Governor of the Region of Crete, I am proud to extend my greetings to all our friends, partners, and visitors attending the World Travel Market in London — a global meeting point for those who shape the future of tourism.
For us, tourism is not only an economic activity; it is a way of life deeply rooted in our culture, our hospitality, and our respect for people and nature. Crete is a place where tradi-
tion and innovation coexist — where ancient heritage meets sustainable growth, and where every visitor becomes part of our extended family.
To our British visitors and partners, whose trust and love for Crete have remained steadfast for decades, I express my sincere gratitude. We invite you to continue this shared journey of friendship and authentic experiences.
Crete is not just a destination. It is a feeling — of belonging, discovery, and genuine hospitality.
Welcome home. Welcome to Crete.

It is a great pleasure to address you on the occasion of the World Travel Market in London, one of the most significant international tourism exhibitions. For Greece, and especially for Attica, the United Kingdom is not only one of the largest source markets — it is a long-standing partner in a shared journey of hospitality, culture, and discovery. Attica is much more than Athens — although the Greek capital, with its Acropolis, modern museums, and vibrant energy, is itself a world-class destination. Just minutes from the city center, visitors can enjoy crystal-clear beaches and the Athenian Riviera, picturesque islands such as Aegina, Poros, and
Hydra, the wine routes of Mesogeia, and the spiritual calm of ancient temples and monasteries.
Our region combines history and innovation, urban vitality and seaside relaxation, offering experiences for every season of the year: from city breaks and cultural exploration to luxury escapes and world-class gastronomy.
To the professionals of the travel industry — tour operators, travel agencies, airlines, and media — I extend an open invitation to collaborate with us in showcasing an Attica that is modern, safe, and irresistibly attractive. And to every British traveler: we invite you to discover and experience the very heart of Greece.

The Peloponnese is entering a new era of extroversion and development under the new place brand “The Land of Impossible Beginnings”. This identity expresses both the timeless legacy of our land and our commitment to shaping a modern profile that fosters investment, competitiveness, and sustainable growth. Our development strategy is comprehensive and forwardlooking. Large-scale infrastructure projects are enhancing connectivity across the region, energy and environmental initiatives are reinforcing resilience, and digital transformation is opening new opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship. The Peloponnese offers a distinctive combination: a strong cultural identity, a diverse natural environment, and
a dynamic framework for investment in tourism, agri-food, logistics, culture, and the creative industries. Every initiative is designed with responsibility and measurable impact in mind. Growth must serve local communities while also attracting international partners. By strengthening synergies between the public and private sectors, we are creating a fertile ground for new projects that combine sustainability with long-term value.
At WTM, we position the Peloponnese as more than a destination — as a strategic hub for investment, cooperation, and sustainable development in the Mediterranean. This is where heritage and opportunity converge, and where impossible beginnings can turn into shared prosperity.

Greek tourism continues its upward course, driven by competitiveness, quality, and a strong sense of purpose. Throughout 2025, both arrivals and receipts have remained on a positive trajectory, confirming the resilience of our sector and the trust of millions of visitors. Behind these results lies a shared national effort — public and private — to enhance infrastructure, invest in people, and strengthen the foundations of sustainable growth.
Within this framework, the United Kingdom, the secondlargest market in terms of visits, overnights, and inbound tourism receipts, remains one of Greece’s most valued and consistent tourism partners. The long-standing relationship between our countries is built on mutual appreciation, cultural connection, and the loyalty of British travellers who re-
turn year after year.
As we look ahead, our collective goal is clear: to further diversify our offering, enrich the visitor experience, and ensure that Greece remains a leading, year-round, high-value destination.
WTM is the ideal setting to share this vision; since its inception, it has served as a trend-setting meeting point for tourism professionals from across the globe. For Greece, WTM provides a unique platform to present our evolving strategy and highlight our achievements. With the synergy of investment, innovation, sustainability, and authentic hospitality, we remain committed to maximizing tourism’s contribution to Greece’s economic growth and social development, while offering visitors memorable travel experiences of the highest quality.

In London and at the WTM, where the global pulse of the tourism market beats, Greece is absolutely ready to welcome its visitors.
Having built a solid foundation of trust over decades and offering a product that combines unparalleled natural beauty, history, and modern creativity, we once again address the British market, which knows us well. Our qualities of reliability, safety, and authenticity are consistently valued by British visitors - which is also confirmed by the leading role of the UK market in the success of Greek tourism.
Greece can offer far more. Our goal is to upgrade the tourism experience in well-established destinations while also “discovering” new ones, expanding the palette of choices 365 days a year. With new products for demanding travelers, with an emphasis on value for experience, boutique hospitality, themed wellness and wellbeing activities, and authentic
gastronomic experiences with a local identity.
At the same time, our sustainability strategy ensures that the attractiveness of the Greek tourism product remains at the top of global preferences. Boasting the world’s first implementation of a comprehensive and innovative hotel environmental ranking system, Greece proves that it does not simply follow market trends; it actually shapes them.
The World Travel Market is therefore an opportunity to invite our friends from the United Kingdom to experience - whether once again or for the first time - the unique offerings that only Greece can definitely provide.
Warm congratulations to MONEY & TOURISM on completing 30 years of journalistic presence, with its English edition becoming a point of reference, assertively highlighting the potential of Greek hospitality at WTM.

Greece’s treasures are more than monuments and postcard landscapes. They are also the choices we make to safeguard and enhance our greatest national asset. Tourism is not a given. It requires active policy, investment in infrastructure, and institutions capable of sustaining an industry that contributes over 13% directly to GDP and more than a third when its full footprint is measured.
At the heart of our competitiveness lies the “sea and sun” model. Greece stands out globally: our sea is purer, our sun is infinite & sweeter, and together they frame the authentic beauty of islands, villages, and mountains. Yet this advantage cannot be taken for granted. Climate resilience, environmental management, and destination infrastructure are policy imperatives if we want to protect the very resource that underpins demand. Preserving the quality of our coastline and maritime environment is as critical as promoting them. The country’s real strength, however, is in the bundle. Alongside sea and sun, visitors discover gastronomy, culture, well-
ness, outdoor activities, and modern urban experiences. Monetizing this diversity across the calendar and across regions creates higher value per visitor, balances flows, and allows communities to thrive.
Hospitality is the mechanism that makes this possible. Hotels not only host guests; they spread economic activity to the most remote communities, anchoring jobs and sustaining entire local economies. Through collective agreements, our Federation ensures salaries increase predictably while giving employers stability. This is a tested model of social partnership that underpins competitiveness.
Tourism is Greece’s strategic asset. It offsets the trade deficit, fuels investment, and sustains local societies. The real treasure is not only our landscapes and heritage but our ability to protect them while competing globally. If we continue to strengthen skills, connectivity, and infrastructure, Greece will remain what it has always been: a destination where the sea is cleaner, the sun sweeter, and the experience unforgettable.

Tourism is one of the most strategic pillars of the Greek economy, thanks to the country’s diversity and unique character. Within this major industry, conferences, events, and incentives form a dynamic and distinct sector with high added value and a strong tourism footprint. This dynamic is already reflected in annual revenues exceeding €2 billion, while cities such as Athens and Thessaloniki have secured an important position on the international meetings map Yet, we know we can do even better. The Hellenic Association of Professional Congress Organizers & Destination Event Specialists (HAPCO & DES) is working consistently to enhance extroversion, foster public–private
of HAPCO & DES
cooperation, and establish a national strategy and identity that will position Greece as a leading international conference destination.
Beyond economic figures, the sector creates thousands of highly skilled jobs, supports innovation, culture, and local communities, and contributes to sustainable development with a tangible social impact.
With professional expertise, internationally recognized human capital, and the renowned Greek hospitality, Greece has all the assets to continue its upward trajectory and to be showcased worldwide as a premier destination for high-level conferences and events.

It is with great pleasure that I address the readers of Money & Tourism.
The Region of Central Macedonia is a blessed land, where history, nature, gastronomy, and culture coexist in harmony, offering unique experiences to every visitor.

tourism. We want the people who visit us to leave richer in experiences and emotions.
Personally, I deeply believe that tourism is an experience that should touch body, soul, and spirit. That is why we work with dedication and passion to create the conditions for authentic hospitality and sustainable development.

The Greek Myth says that in ancient times, the Muses and the Sirens argued and claimed the reputation of the best singers, asking the 12 Gods of Olympus to judge. So, the Gods came to Crete and sat comfortably on its fertile slopes while the two Goddesses competed over the Cretan Sea. The Muses won the competition and, in their honor, words as Museum, Music, Musician and all the synonyms became from them. The Sirens, disappointed, cut off their wings and felt wingless into the Cretan Sea. In their honor, the Gods founded the ancient Aptera City there (A-ptera, without wings). In this Land of Myth, Legend, Sea, Mountain, Culture and Gastronomy, we invite you to write your own legend, in Crete!!

Zakynthos: The Island of the Shipwreck, the Caretta-Caretta, and Endless Serenades
Bathed in crystal-clear waters and wrapped in lush greenery, Zakynthos stands as one of the most enchanting islands of the Ionian Sea. It’s a place where natural beauty meets heartfelt hospitality, and every moment feels like an ode to the Greek summer.
An island of contrasts and harmony, Zakynthos brings together culture and relaxation, cosmopolitan flair and authenticity, offering experiences that captivate every type of traveler. Here, the visitor can:
• Discover the island’s breathtaking coastline — from the iconic “Shipwreck” beach and the glowing Blue Caves to countless hidden coves washed by turquoise seas.
• Swim alongside the gentle Caretta-caretta sea turtles and the Monachus-monachus seals, two rare species that have found sanctuary on the island’s pristine shores.
• Immerse in the island’s rich history and artistic spirit — from St. Dionisios’ Cathedral to picturesque chapels and the historic Strani Hill, where Greece’s National Anthem was inspired.
• Wander through charming villages surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, where traditions still live in the everyday rhythm of the locals.
• Listen to the soul of Zakynthos through the melodious “kantades” and “arekies”, traditional serenades that echo through summer nights.

Getting here is effortless: Zakynthos has an international airport with direct flights from across Europe and frequent connections to Athens and mainland Greece. Ferries from Killini bring you to the island in just an hour, while routes to Kefalonia and Italy make it an ideal stop in an Ionian escape.
With a wide range of hotels, villas, and boutique stays, the island welcomes travelers in true Greek style — with warmth, charm, and a smile.

This year’s tourist season in Santorini did not unfold as we had all hoped. Unpredictable natural phenomena and broader challenges significantly affected the course of the season. Nevertheless, Santorini continues to be a unique destination with global appeal and remarkable resilience.
The island’s charm remains alive: its worldwide recognition, the high quality of hospitality, the unparalleled natural beauty, and the authenticity of its experiences are elements that cannot be diminished by a difficult year. On the contrary, they remind us of the need to protect and strengthen Santorini with seriousness and responsibility.
The year 2026 offers us the opportunity to rebuild our de-
velopment path methodically. The potential is there — but it needs support. Not only from the private sector, which for decades has been investing and innovating, but also from the State. It is now imperative to launch substantial interventions in infrastructure: in transportation, in the management of natural resources, in the organization of visitor flows, and in the overall operation of the destination.
Tourism development cannot rely solely on the patriotism and dedication of the sector’s professionals. Santorini deserves — and requires — a stable and sustainable framework of support that reflects its international standing.
With planning, cooperation, and genuine will, we can turn this year’s challenges into a springboard for renewal. We are here to claim the future that our island truly deserves.

This year’s presence of Greece at the World Travel Market holds special significance. The WTM stands among the world’s leading tourism exhibitions, a constant point of reference for the global industry and a forum that each year highlights new trends, partnerships, and opportunities in international tourism.
The 21st edition of “Money & Tourism” at the WTM comes at a particularly symbolic moment, as it coincides with the 30th anniversary of our company’s founding. Three decades of continuous presence in tourism and economic media are both a source of pride and a commitment to continue with the same consistency, credibility, and dedication to quality. For 21 years, our magazine has been the only Greek publication distributed within the exhibition, promoting Greek tourism, its businesses, its people, and the ideas that shape Greece’s image as a top global destination.
Tourism remains the driving force of the Greek economy. It contributes decisively to the national GDP, supports hundreds of thousands of jobs, and serves as a bridge of culture and friendship between Greece and the world. The United Kingdom is one of Greece’s two most important markets, a relationship built on trust, on the lasting affection of British travellers for Greece, and on the consistently high quality of Greek hospitality.
Greece today stands at a stage of maturity and creative evolution. Through cooperation among the State, institutions, and businesses, we can secure sustainable tourism growth and further strengthen our international position.
I warmly thank all those who have supported this journey for three decades. With the same faith and passion, we continue to serve the Greece of tourism — a Greece that leads, inspires, and creates.

AEGEAN is the leading Greek airline, member of STAR ALLIANCE, and one of the most eminent companies in Greece. With a strong international presence, AEGEAN established in 1999 and at that time operated exclusively in the Greek area. Within 26 years AEGEAN managed to become the favorite of all Greeks, grew its network internationally and won its position in the aviation sector as one of the most successful and awarded regional airlines. AEGEAN is listed on the ATHENS Stock Exchange since 2007 and recent turnover exceeded 1.7 billion.

AEGEAN has been awarded the title of Best Regional Airline in Europe by the Skytrax World Airline Awards for the 14th consecutive year and 15th time overall in its 26 years of operation. AEGEAN is recognized again for the high quality of service
and the unique travel experience offering to its passengers. The 2025 AEGEAN network includes 250 direct routes, both scheduled and charter flights (55 domestic and 195 international), connecting 162 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. These routes are operated from AEGEAN’s seven bases in Greece and abroad, with a fleet of 85 aircraft, including the latest Airbus 320 and 321 neo.
AEGEAN in the first half of the year carried 7,6 million passengers, an increase of 4% compared to the previous year, with total 9,4 seats offered, representing a 5% increase. Within the next months the gradual arrival of six (6) A321 XLR/LR aircraft will enable a new level of comfort and service on routes beyond the EU, while also opening opportunities in more distant markets and destinations. The first step will be the entry into the Indian market from the beginning of 2026.

Fraport Greece continues its positive trajectory, as in September 2025 the 14 regional airports handled 5.5 million passengers, a 2.8% increase or approximately 149,000 more than in September 2024. The extension of the tourist season was clearly reflected, with Ryanair and other low-cost carriers significantly boosting demand.
At the same time, Santorini (JTR) continued to negatively affect the overall numbers, recording a 15.2% decline or 65,000 fewer passengers, due to limited routes from major carriers, such as Volotea. However, the increase at airports such as Thessaloniki, Corfu, and Kos more than offset the losses, contributing significantly to the positive picture.

The Israeli market was particularly dynamic, not
only unaffected by the summer crisis, but also recording an impressive 40.1% increase, with approximately 39,000 additional passengers. The resumption of flights by Aegean and Wizz Air, combined with the strong presence of Arkia, EL AL, and Israir, further enhanced the flow. On the other hand, losses were recorded by the UK market (-23.7%), mainly due to reduced flights by Volotea and other airlines.
Flight capacity remained almost unchanged (85.4% vs. 85.6% last year), with Santorini showing the greatest improvement. In contrast, Mytilini, Rhodes, and Thessaloniki experienced a decline due to an increase in commercial flights that were not accompanied by a corresponding demand.
A similar picture in Corfu (CFU), which recorded +7.8% or +56.5 thousand passengers, with a peak in Germany, France, and Israel. Rhodes (RHO) moved slightly up (+2.2%), mainly thanks to the United Kingdom (+18,000), while Kos (KGS) continued its rally from this season (+5.4%).

Thessaloniki (SKG) continued to be Fraport Greece’s “heavy hitter,” with a 7.9% increase or +61.4 thousand passengers. The dynamic was linked to strong demand from Germany, Israel, and the domestic market, while Ryanair alone boosted traffic by 23,000 passengers.
In contrast, Mykonos (JMK) experienced a 3.2% decline or -8,000 passengers, mainly in the domestic market. The decrease is attributed to the reduction in flights by Volotea and easyJet, although it was partially offset by increases in flights by Aegean, Sky Express, and EL AL.

Internationally, traffic was 4.63 million passengers (+3.1%).
The United Kingdom remained the largest market (26.6%), although with a marginal increase, while Germany showed a strong increase of 7.1%. The contributions of Poland and Italy were also significant.
Ryanair stood out again, increasing its international traffic by 9.6% and reaching almost 1 million passengers, while TUI and easyJet made a steady contribution.
With September’s passenger traffic, Fraport Greece has now welcomed more than 244 million passengers since the concession began. This fall appears to be maintaining the momentum of the summer, with passengers supporting the extension of the tourist season and air carriers increasing their activity in the Greek islands.
Domestic traffic reached 839 thousand passengers (+1%), with Aegean remaining dominant, occupying 64.3% of the market. Sky Express improved its share by +11.4%, while Ryanair increased its presence by +12%.
Fraport Greece is one of the country’s leading airport operators, having taken over the operation and development of 14 regional airports in mainland and island Greece under a 40-year concession that began in 2017. The company is a joint venture of Fraport AG Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide, the Copelouzos Group, and the Marguerite investment fund (2020 European Fund for Energy, Climate Change and Infrastructure). Its mission is to modernize and upgrade infrastructure, with the goal of improving the passenger experience in accordance with international standards. Since taking over operations, Fraport Greece has invested significantly in new terminal buildings, runway reconstruction, and the implementation of digital technologies, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

2024 was a milestone year, as the company served more than 36 million passengers at 14 airports, marking a 6.4% increase year-over-year, which translates to approximately 2.1 million additional travelers. Domestic flights increased by 4.7%, while international flights increased by 4.2%, confirming Greece’s position among the fastest-growing tourist markets in Europe.
On an annual basis, Fraport Greece has up to 50 million euros available for upgrading facilities, while 146 million euros have already been committed for runway reconstruction projects to meet the latest standards of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Additionally, further investments of 200 million euros are planned to increase capacity at the airports of Kos, Corfu, Mykonos, and Santorini.
With this strategy, Fraport Greece has established itself as a stable pillar of the Greek aviation industry, making a significant contribution to the development of tourism and local economies.

Some dots in the Greek map, other small and other big, but very important for the civilisation and history, but also for the tourist development of the country, Cyclades, are located for many decades in the centre of interest and they are a vacation destination for many Greek and foreign tourists. The Cycladic cultural treasure, one of the most ancient Mediterranean civilisation, the rare geomorphologic site, that consists of rocky hills, the ”naked” mountains, the golden beaches and the amazing seashores of the 56 islands (Cyclades), the gastronomy. The tradition in combination with the developed, in some of the islands, hotel and tourist substructure, have discriminated Cyclades as one of the top Greek tourist destinations. Santorini, Myconos, Syros, Andros, Tinos, Dilos, Paros, Antiparos, Naxos, Iraklia, Sxinousa, Koufonisia, Keros, Antikeros, Daskalio, Donousa, Amorgos, Folegandros, Sikinos, Ios, Anafi, Kea (or Jia), Kithnos, Kimolos, Milos, Serifos, Sifnos and lots of other small islands, in the centre of Aegean Pelagos offer a unique experience of vacations for all tastes. Santorini is one of the most popular islands not only in national level, but also in European one. In 2001, the readers of the magazine: “Travel and Leisure”, which is circulated worldwide, asset of American Express, elected Santorini as the most popular island in Europe. As the ship closes, the visitor is amazed from the white houses and the sheer rocks, as they look like they come out from the frothy waves. The history of the island is connected with the history of the volcano, whereas its name was given from the church of Agia Irini (Saint Irene), which is located in Thirasia, a neighbor island. Capital of Santorini, built with unique way in the rocks is Thira, where it is worth visiting the archaeological museum, the museum of the pre-historic Thira, with plant fossils, the Belonio cultural Centre, with important scripts and historical books. The view of the volcano from Kaldera is cut breathing and the view of the island from Imerovigli is also spectacular, while seeing the traditional dorps with the distinguishable houses. One of the islands, a symbol of the international jet set is Myconos, which attracts hundreds of visitors every year. It is known for its nightlife and entertainment that provides. How-

ever, Myconos is not only that. There, it is worth visiting the church of Paraportiani and of course, the ”Little Venice”. For more quiet places, the beaches of Agios Stefanos and Agios Giannis of Elia are proposed.
Syros is the capital and the administrative centre of Cyclades. It met growth, especially at the end of 18th and ion the beginning of the 19th century. The “Lady of Cyclades” as it named with the well-preserved mansion-houses, roads paved with slabs, picturesque villages and crystal waters impress the visitors at once.
Capital of the island and the first trade port of the country during the last century is Hermoupoli. The European essence of the city is spared everywhere, with the neo-classical buildings and the renovated mansion- buildings, which however, come to a harmony with the white houses with the blue doors and windows. In Hermoupoli, one should visit the public theatre Apollo, miniature of the opera house in Milan and the church

of Agios Nikolaos the rich with the two church towers. Hermoupoli provides a lot of entertainment and leisure facilities. Apart from the casino and the nightclubs, during the year theatrical and cinema shows, cultural events etc. take place
Quite islands, far away from tourism reality, they still preserve traditions and folkways, while at the same time they are cosmopolitan with a European air. The Dodecanese. Rhodes, Kos, Astipalea, Karpathos, Kalimnos, Kasos, Kastelorizo, Lipsi, Leros, Nisiros, Patmos, Simi, Tilos, Halki. They are simply dots in the Greek map. An island complex, so same and at the same time so different, which looks like it is between two worlds, the world of primeval nature and the other one of nightlife.
The Dodecanese offer visitors non-stop experiences and it is certain that they will not be bored, not even for a moment. The scenery is rough and steep in some places, but peaceful in others. Sandy beaches follow the rocky beaches with the deserted coves and the steep mountains are the most ap-

propriate places for hiking.
The most famous island of the Dodecanese is Rhodes.
One of the most popular islands is Kos, or in other words the island of Ipokratis. It is the third largest island of the Dodecanese complex, featuring long beaches, crystal seawaters and luxuriant vegetation.
The capital and the main port is the city of Kos, which was rebuild after the catastrophic earthquake of 1933 from the Italian conquerors.
The entire archaeological sites, which are spread in the city fill with awe every visitor. As the ship moves closer to the port, the Venetian castle and the ruins of the market along the port can amaze the visitors. Also, the platan of Ipokratis and the Turkish mosques are some of the sites of the island.
The city of Kos is a modern city, with vivid nightlife, which is at a peak during summer time. There are a lot of magnificent beaches. For example, in Kardamena the bathers will enjoy the sun and the sea, as well as in Mastihari, Tigaki, Marmari and somewhere else.

Stroll through villages adorned with handmade dovecotes and marble art, follow ancient trails across lunar landscapes and lively villages, climb the heights of Exombourgo, or dive into crystalline wa-

ters before watching the sun dissolve into the horizon. At every turn, a table awaits, laden with the island’s own flavours: artichokes, capers, honey, cheeses, sausages, and wines offered with open hands.
Families gather in small squares beneath blooming bougainvilleas, travellers linger at seaside tavernas savoring the local delicacies, and hosts greet newcomers as though they were lifelong friends.

Operating all year round, built in a superb location in the center of the city, right on the seafront and with all its rooms facing the magnificent view of the sea, «Kos Aktis» is a unique destination for every traveler. For a couple looking for a twoday getaway during winter, for someone traveling due to work and needs a place to rest, for a cyclist exploring new place on two wheels, for all those who wish to experience authentic, ancient Greek hospitality, at least for once. Since 2005, when it was founded, the hotel has become one of the top destinations for those seeking for a daily contact with the sea. Its thirty six rooms and six suites, equally divided into three floors, are overlooking the city of Halicarnassus which is located right next to the Greek borders. When relaxing on his spacious balcony during the day, the traveler may enjoy the lively colors of the sun in the beautiful sky and during the evening, he may enjoy the silence of the night while staring at the bright stars. If there is a full moon, he is able to admire the reflection of the moon to the undisturbed, dark blue color of the sea.

The imposant Knights Castle stands on the left side of «Kos Aktis» . On the right side, there is a cycling path which leads to the marina of the island and opposite of the hotel‘s main entrance, the enormous fig tree dominates the park of Vasileos Georgiou street. With no doubt, glass is the element which characterizes the general construction of the hotel. The windows on the corridors and rooms make it perfectly bright and allow an unconfined communication between the hotel with the surrounding

environment. The thick glass on the balconies transforms the outer room dividers into perfectly aligned canvases, where the sky is reflected with different colors each time. If you look at them from a distance, they look like pendulous paintings.
Lastly, on the ground floor, the sliding glass doors at the barrestaurant «H20» offer the impression that tables are floating on the sea. In other words, no matter where the traveler stands into the hotel, he can either admire the water or observe the various stimulus occuring outside the building. Besides, this was the original goal. All dynamic images created continuously from the combination of water motion and light intensity should be able to circulate freely. This way, the traveler senses that his environment is constantly changing even though it actually remains the same.

Crossway of the age-long seaways of Mediterranean, birthplace of Zeus (father of the Gods of Olympus) and of Minoan civilisation, one of the oldest ones in Europe, with palace-cities in Knossos, Phaistos, Malia and Zakros. The trip to the island is unforgettable and full of surprises.
Starting from the region of Hania, which is the most western part of the island, the visitor is surprised from the following pictures: endless sandy beaches, rough canyons, caves, native animals and indigenous plants, long olive and orange groves, villages forgotten from time, dispersed churches and monasteries, towers and castles.
The old city in Hania attracts the interest of the visitors, which is situated over and around the hill of Kastelli, built in the ruins of the Minoan Kidonia and surrounded by the Venetian Wall and the sea. As a cultural centre, it attracted important scientists, philosophers, poets and artists, whereas during the Venetian and Turkish occupation, the cohabitation of people of different nationality, culture and religion (Orthodox Christians, Catholics, Jews and Mussulmans) has left deep “scars” and made remarkable creations.
It is worth noticing that in the borders of the city with Acrotiri, there are found the graves of Eleftherios and Sofocles Venize-

los. In the under populated mainland of Hania, there are villages, such as Vamos, Kastelli, Milia and Keramia that evidence the simplicity and the distinctiveness of Cretan life and nature, by providing an unforgettable stay, while at the same time in South the area of Fragokastello, one of the most astonishing beaches of Mediterranean amazes with the Venetian castle and the legend of the magical shadows (Drosoulites).
Protected areas from hunting, parks and biotopes (the lake of Agias, Kourna, Gavdos and Gavdopoula islands, Elafonisi), the most magnificent canyon of Europe, the Canyon of Samaria and more than 1.500 sea caves or not attract visitors, who discover hidden natural beauties, enjoy nature as they have never before and they experience folkways next to real people. The municipality of Rethimno follows. It is the most alp area of Crete. It is an area with contradictions, with great history and legacy, natural beauty and living traditions. In the centre part of the island and between the mountain of Psiloriti and the White Mountains, there were found archaeological finds, specimens of ancient and recent civilizations, in a land where the past changes into present and inspires tomorrow. The tourist can be guided in the nearest places from the capital of Rethymnon (Rethymnon city) with the Fortezza fortress, the Catholic monastery of Agios Fragiskos and the five mosques (Impraim Han mosque, Neratzes, Kara Mousa Pasa, Megali Porta, Veli Pasa mosque). The Arkadios monastery stands out. It is the most revolutionary centre during the Turkish occupation and the Prevelis monastery that apart from the monastery it also has a para-

dise sea. In Anogia, built in Psiloritis, one can visit the cave, where Olympian Zeus was born, according to the Mythology and everyone can enjoy the cool sea in Bali and Agia Galini. Heraklio is a place where surprises succeed one another and the land has unique beauty and contrasts. It is rough and “naked” in some parts, but filled with forests in other ones, with plenty of villages, monasteries, castles, churches on the mountains, ancient stuff and drywalls. Unadulterated from the modern life, it combines uniquely the Cretan hospitality and confirms that the most original descendants of Xenias Zeus are still residents of this place.
Heraklio is the biggest urban unit and the biggest economic centre and the capital of Crete’s region. It is the birthplace of Dominikos Theotokatos, but also birthplace of an important man of letters concerning literary Cretan tradition, Nikos Kazantzakis. In the streets, the squares of the city, the market, the Venetian port, the museums and in the churches, the visitor will discover a city that through the valuable experience of the past is searching for something new, by offering magic and vitality. In Heraklio, the powers and the expressions of nature gain human characteristics and change into mythical characters. Every spring, in the holy mountain of Idis, the father of Gods, Zeus, is reborned. Also, the ecosystems that are growing in the alp parts of Heraklio are of great interest, because they are rich in flora and fauna.
Lasithi, the east side of Crete and the most southwestern part of Europe, has a 5.000 years tradition. It extends near end-
less variform shores and it is situated near desert islands with cedars (Chrisi) and historical monuments (Koufonisi). It has olive groves and vineyards and is lost in canyons, caves and crests. It provides table-lands (Lasithi, Katharo) and natural creeks (Elounta) for relaxation. One can pray in picturesque little churches, monasteries and in peaks of the mountains. Climbers and ramblers worship it. One can smell the orange trees, the thyme, the sage and the wild flowers. One can also visit the cave Dikeon Andron, where Zeus was born, according to mythology and later he carried beautiful Europe from the shores of Asia. Small and beautiful towns filled with ageold flavors and scents, traditional elements, absolute peace and savage unadulterated scenery with lots of interspersions in vegetation and a large variety of rare species. However, there is a cosmopolitan air and a vivid nightlife.
Lasithi with the endless beaches and the picturesque cities is situated next to the blue and crystal waters of the Northern and Southern Cretan (Libyan) sea. Its seashores vary. Some are sandy, some have white pebbles, some are deserted or filled with phoenixes (Vai) and others are organised or cosmopolitan. One can live in the cities, such as Agios Nikolaos, the capital, with scenic open view to Elounta and Spinaloga, Sitia with a unique rhythm of life and new experiences and Hierapetra, the southern city of Crete that preserves the atmosphere and the “old-age neighborhood”, combining at the same time new challenges for every visitor. «Crete Everywhere»

Our passion for hospitality is our driving force, but also the philosophy of GOLDEN Hotels & Resorts, a group that began its operation as a family business in 1985, with the first hotel, Golden Beach Hotel in Hersonisos, Crete. The vision of the owners was - and still is - to offer their guests high quality holidays, luxurious and comfortable accommodation and an overall experience of what „Cretan Hospitality“ means in its modern version. Thanks to the consistent quality services, the values that govern the business, but above all, its people who are its soul, the expansion to other accommodations was not long in coming. The Group today includes 5 privately owned hotels, SENSEANA Sea Side Resort & Aquadventure, INSULA ALBA Resort & Spa, AKASHA Beach Hotel & Spa, Golden Beach Hotel as well as KING MINOS RETREAT Resort & Spa.

Today, 40 years later, GOLDEN Hotels & Resorts, a constantly growing Group characterized by love for luxury, reliability, excellence, style and social

sensitivity, decides to reposition itself on the map of Greek hospitality as a strong player, with a renewed profile.
Gold is precious. Anything made of gold has a high value. The jewelry is made of gold. Treasures contain gold items. The word „gold“ also describes the sun. Its reflection in the water in the summer, its light but also its precious entity. Beauty and high value are characterized as precious. GOLDEN Hotels & Resorts have value because they embrace Cretan Hospitality in a landscape bathed in light, in a pristine nature, with a temperate climate. Crete itself is a manifesto of the great Minoan culture, healthy cuisine and good quality of life, prosperity, abundance and authentic lifestyle. All these values have been adopted by GOLDEN Hotels & Resorts and their entire philosophy is based on the authentic and the precious.

GOLDEN Hotels & Resorts pamper their customers with incomparable Cretan Ηospitality, so they can create memories that will be precious to them throughout their life.
Precious moments
The value of moments is defined by how memorable they are, how important they are to the person who experiences them, how often he returns to them and what position they take in the set of important moments of his life. But what defines which moment is important for everyone and why are the moments at GOLDEN Hotels & Resorts precious? The name of the hotels includes luxury as a concept. The architecture and decoration of the hotels has many elements of luxury and high aesthetics. It is about the globally recognized

Cretan hospitality that always leaves the visitor with the best impressions and memories. The care, the treatment, the food... everything is consistent with the visitor experiencing some of the most beautiful and unforgettable moments of his life, to experience precious moments for him and his family.
The source of inspiration for the Group‘s logo was the double pelekis or - in Lydian - lavrys. It summarizes the law of action and reaction that exists in nature. The word Lavrys is related to „ploughing“ and from there comes the word labyrinth = house of the Lavryos, a characteristic symbol in Crete from the mythology and history of the Minotaur. The double pelekis as a symbol is found in frescoes and also as a tool during the Minoan period. www.goldenhotels.gr

For more than four decades, Hersonissos Group Hotels has been a name synonymous with genuine Greek hospitality, warm family values, and timeless elegance. Founded in 1980, this family-owned hotel chain has grown from a single vision into a collection of distinctive properties across Crete and Santorini - each one reflecting the beauty, authenticity, and generosity of its homeland.

What began as a heartfelt dream of creating a welcoming space for travelers in Crete has evolved into a remarkable legacy of hospitality that continues to set new standards in the Greek tourism industry. Today, the group’s portfolio includes some of the most beloved resorts and boutique hotels in the Aegean, blending tradition with modern comfort in a way that feels both luxurious and deeply personal. At the heart of the Hersonissos Group philosophy lies a simple but powerful idea: hospitality is not a service - it’s a way of life. Every property, from the beachfront resorts of Hersonissos to the breathtaking retreats in Santorini, is designed to offer guests an authentic experience of Greece’s natu-
ral beauty, culture, and cuisine. The group’s dedication to quality and detail can be felt in every corner - from thoughtfully designed suites and locally inspired gastronomy to the warmth of staff who treat every guest like family.
Innovation and sustainability also define the group’s path forward. Guests are invited not only to enjoy Greece but to become part of its living story.
Whether it’s a romantic getaway in Santorini, a family holiday by the Cretan sea, or a wellness retreat surrounded by nature, Hersonissos Group Hotels offers more than accommodation - it offers connection. A connection to place, to people, and to the timeless art of Greek philoxenia.

Amid the light, landscapes and living traditions of Crete, PHĀEA embodies an enduring expression of Greek hospitality one defined by authenticity, design, and conscious luxury. Rooted in the Cretan spirit of philoxenia, a generosity of heart and deep respect for people, culture, and nature, PHĀEA reimagines hospitality not as service, but as a meaningful exchange between host, guest and place. Every detail reflects a philosophy of care, simplicity, and connection that celebrates the essence of the island and its people. Sustainability is not an initiative at PHĀEA, it is a value that defines every decision and experience. Guided by slow living and community engagement, the brand is committed to preserving Crete’s natural and cultural heritage while fostering innovation and positive impact.

The PHĀEA Farmers Program embodies this approach, supporting local agronomists and regenerative, organic agriculture, while creating a
circular partnership between the land, its growers and the guest experience. This vision of hospitality nurtures rather than consumes, ensuring that what is created today endures with respect for tomorrow. For PHĀEA, sustainability is a way of being, a constant dialogue between heritage and progress, nature and design, people and purpose. Each of the brand’s destinations brings this philosophy to life in its own way. Phāea Blue member of Small Luxury Hotels, a serene seaside retreat between Elounda and Plaka, expresses the art of quiet luxury through a curated blend of design, craftsmanship, and culture. Here, heritage meets contemporary elegance, from a Benaki Museum–curated lobby to experiences like the traditional caique voyage and the Phāea Farmers’ Feast, celebrating local produce and community. Phāea Cretan Malia embodies balance and wellbeing. Inspired by Crete’s colors and textures, the resort’s natural materials and sunlit spaces reflect the island’s effortless beauty.

Wellness is felt everywhere through nourishing cuisine, mindful rituals, and experiences that foster connection, belonging and a shared rhythm with nature.
Village Heights Resort offers a tranquil haven surrounded by the island’s wild landscapes. With an emphasis on comfort, wellbeing, and warm hospitality, it invites guests to slow down and reconnect with nature. At its heart lies the Mitato, a contemporary take on the traditional shepherd’s shelter, hosting meaningful gatherings and authentic experiences such as artisanal cheese-making. A true reflection of Cretan life.
Koutouloufari Village Holiday Club captures the charm of traditional Cretan living. Its restored stone houses, cobbled pathways and village-like atmosphere reflect a simpler, more authentic island spirit, where heartfelt hospitality turns moments into memories.
Together, these properties express PHĀEA’s singular vision

to create spaces that are elevated yet effortless, luxurious yet kind, rooted deeply in community and crafted with care. Each stay offers a bridge between past and present, a meeting point between design and soul, culture and creativity, people and place.
PHĀEA, meaning “the light in your eyes when you are happy,” is more than a collection of hotels, it is a philosophy of living that invites travelers to experience Greece not as visitors but as part of its living story, one that feels truer, more timeless, and profoundly human.

The unparallel natural beauty, the unique culture, the tradition and of course the special musical culture are the particular characteristics
that make Ionian Sea islands to stand out from any other part of Greece.
Kefalonia is the bigest island of Ionian complex, as far as the strech of land is concerned. The interchange among different types of landscape is really unique, since the alpine scenery of Ainos, where the only type of black spruce grows and breeds of wild horses live , is harmoniously combined with warm, crystal clear seas. In the broader area of Ainos, one can find the «Drogarati» cage with its stalactites, as well as Melissani lake. Of course, the island of Kefalonia is surrounded by endless bays and «lace alike» shores. Since 1757, the capital of Kefalonia and Ithaka Prefecture is Argostoli, an aphitheatrically built city with a spendit view to Koutavos lake sea. The city is island’s commercial and administrational center, whereas at the same time, it is a modern city with nice old style mansions and a significant historic and cultural tradition. The most pictoresque village of Kefalonia it may be Fiscardo, as it’s a little fishing village with narrow streets and old, traditionally built and therefore preserved houses. On the other hand, Lixouri is among these cities of the island that carry a great significance. In this city, one can find Iakovatios and Petritsios Libraries, in which worth mentioning collections of vestments and rare books are kept, as well as The Philarmonic School. Sami is a beautiful town and Poros is one of the island’s main ports. As for the beaches of Kefalonia, those are certainly numerous and outstanding. To mention just a few among the prettiest and globally reputed, we could name the beaches of Mirtos, Makris and Platis Gialos, Spartia, Lourdas, Skala, Poros, Antisamos, Xi and Petanoi.
The island of Corfu is the administrational basis of the whole Ionian Islands Territory. Being also known as «the island of Faiaks» according to Homer’s Odyssey, Corfu stands out, mostly because of its cultural identity. The island is situated in the «mouth» of Adriatic Sea, opposite to north west Greek coasts, from which the island’s northern part is separated by a 2,5 Klms width channel. In Corfu’s shores one can find pictoresque little bays and beaches with sand or pebbles. The capital of the island is the beautiful city of Corfu, unanimously aknowledged as one of the

prettiest cities in Greece, a city built on a narrow strip of land. In this city one can spot disparate elements, as well as the remnants of different cultures that have influenced the island. There are vast squares, such as the famous «Spianada» square, as well as narrow, cobbled little roads, the well known «kantounia», where the italian influence is more than obvious. To the west of Corfu city is Palaikastritsa, a little «heaven on earth» and Aggelokastro, a Byzintine fortress of 13th century, whereas to the north of the city there is «Kanoni», one of the most famous spots on the island. A narrow strip of land leads to Vlaxerna convent, from where one can catch a boat and visit Pontikonissi. Opposite to that, on the side of Gastourion hill, there is the unique Achillion, which used to be the summer residence of Austrian Empress Elisabeth, more known as «Sissy».
Being called through the centuries, even from the period of the Venetian rule, as «The Levante’s Flower», Zante is one characteristic case of island where rare natural beauty meets the unique ecological significance, along with the history and the rich cultural and artistic tradition. Obviously, the island of Zante presents a landscape full of contrasts. While the most part of the island is mountainous, there are also visual variations with short pine-clad mountains and fertile valleys. However, Zante is globallly known mostly from its emerald and crystal clear seas, as well as its unique ecosystem. It is widely known that in the south coast of Zante there is one of the most important natural habitat of Caretta - Caretta turtle. Furthermore, in the same island we can also find the habitat of Monachus - Monachus turtle, a species which can be found mostly in the southwest coasts of the island. The aristocratic city of Zante is the capital of the island, a city built on the southeastern side with really impressive mansions, well reputed churches and pretty squares like the famous «Rouga», or the tiled central square of St Mark, which attracts the lion part of activity.

The Mpoxali area, under the castle, can easily charm everyone with its little, quiet streets and its old houses with the characteristic «bougarinia». Of course, apart from the city, Zante’s visitors are also attracted by the island’s pictoresque villages with their tiled streets and the little tavernas, where one can taste original Zante cuisine. Of cousrse, one of the most well known touristic attractions of Zante is the famous «shipwreck» in the west part of Zante, abandoned in the middle of the sandy beach and surrounded by steep rocks. It is also known that on Zante’s sandy beaches there are many other touristic resorts, such as Laganas, Argasi, Gerakas, Porto Zoro, Vassilikos, Tsilivis, Alikes and Alikanas. When we talk about Lefkada, we can not help pondering about quiet or cosmopolitan beaches with «golden» sand, seashores under the impressive shadow of high and steep rocks, serene bays, hospitable ports to every boat, crystal clear waters and other, equally beautiful images. Lefkada is
surrounded by unique sandy beaches with their characteristic «dove egg» shaped grains of sand, as Lefkada’s famous poet Aggelos Sikelianos had put it. The island is connected to the rest part of the country through a floating bridge of continuous circulation, a fact that ensures the benefit of an easy access. In the city of Lefkada, there is one of the larger and most modern sea marinas in Europe, whereas the island is also known for its lake sea, which is an aquatic habitat for rare breeds of birds. Apart from the city of Lefkada, also reputed parts of the island are Ligia, a really busy village, Agios Nikitas, a traditional fishing village, Nikiana, an ideal place for surfing fans, Perigiali, a village crowded with tourists with astonishing beaches, as well as Vassiliki, the center of the southern part of the island, with its sandy beaches. It is also worth mentioning that around Lefkada there are little and big islands developping continuously, whereas the most famous of them is the island of Skorpios, also known as «the island of Onassis».

Opened in 2018, Crystal Waters Lefkada stands as the island’s premier destination for travelers seeking an extraordinary escape. Nestled in the picturesque village of Nikiana, this luxury retreat rests at the foot of the majestic Skaros Mountain, where lush greenery meets the shimmering Ionian Sea.
An idyllic haven for leisure seekers, the resort offers the perfect gateway to Lefkada’s world-famous beaches and breathtaking landscapes. Designed with timeless elegance, Crystal Waters blends harmoniously with its natural surroundings while delivering a hospitality experience defined by warmth, authenticity, and island charm.

Comprising 146 luxury rooms and suites, each thoughtfully crafted with meticulous attention to

detail and adorned with fine materials, the resort exudes refined sophistication and effortless comfort.
Culinary experiences include the Emerald and Duende Restaurants, where Mediterranean and local flavors come alive in a setting inspired by the earthy tones of Lefkada.
At Natsumi Restaurant, guests can indulge in the artistry of Asian cuisine - a creative fusion of tradition and modern aesthetics, prepared with the freshest ingredients in an enchanting ambiance.
The Swim-Up Pool Bar invites you to unwind in style - sip a signature cocktail from a submerged seat and let time slow down under the Greek sun.
Water defines the rhythm of Crystal Waters Lefkada. Guests

may luxuriate in their private pool suites or enjoy the resort’s three elegant public pools. Complementary experiences, from rejuvenating spa treatments to invigorating yoga sessions, create a holistic sanctuary for body and mind.
Continuing its vision of excellence, the brand proudly introduces Crystal Waters Beachfront, a new five-star property located just a few meters away. Zante Hospitality Group, boasting a long-standing reputation in the hospitality industry, owns and manages Zante Park Resort & Spa and Galaxy Beach Resort, two of the most prestigious hotels, operating on the Ionian Island of Zakynthos.
Along with the luxury premises, our facilities and services are environmentally friendly, since our primary objective is to protect and enhance the natural wealth of the area, as evidenced by our “Green Key” international Ecolabel award.
Frayed coasts, clean, beautiful beaches, natural harbors and bays, forests and plains, sacred rocks with a long history.
Lacy shores, seas clean as a whistle, scenic beaches, natural coves and voes, forests and plains, holy rocks with a great historical past. These and a lot more compose the image of the Attica land.
The landscape alternations, the modern substructures and the potential of alternative activities are the advantages of Attica as a tourist destination. These important advantages have styled fairly Attica as the “Greek Riviera”. Athens, capital of Attica and since 1834 capital of Greece, is a city with thousands of aspects. Athens is the birthplace of civilisation and it gives each visitor the opportunity to travel into time. The magic travel with destination past begins from the holy rock of Acropolis, one of the most glorious monuments of the world and Parthenon, with its marvelous Caryatides. It continues to the archaeological site of Pnika, where Ecclesia convened, one of the first democratic corps in the world, to the Agora (Athens’s Ancient Market), with the impressive Temple of Hephaestus and the Stoa of Attalos, to the Theatre of Herodes Atticus, which is now used as a spectacular venue and finally to the Cemetery Keramikos.
The city of Athens is a hypaethral museum, given that in every place of the city the archaeological excavations have discovered finds from every period. Finds from the Byzantine period were found in the city, as well as in the wider area. More specifically, in Plaka there are some of the most ancient Byzantine monuments of Athens. The museums of the city are full of the archaeological treasure of Athens, such as the museum of Acropolis, one of the best museums in the world, in the National Archaeological Museum, in the Museum of Byzantine Art etc. The Parliament is also impressive at the Syntagma Square, but all visitors are attracted by the change of guard in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, beneath the Parliament. Downtown, the historical triangle with the old neighbors of Plaka, Thisio, Psiri, the open-air market of Monastiraki and the archaeological sites, attracts hundreds of visitors each day.
At the Syntagma Square, where the main station of metro is situated, one can find the “heart” of the trade in life of the

city, which extends to Kolonaki, one of the most famous areas
Of Athens filled with trade life, nightlife and culture.
Piraeus is half an hour away from the centre of Athens, the first port of Greece. Piraeus is a city that has nothing to be jealous of Athens. It is famous for its ouzeri restaurants and its fish taverns next to the sea, in the areas of Mikrolimano, Freatida and Piraiki.
The archaeological treasure of the city is inexhaustible. One of the most remarkable monuments is the mark of the ancient circumvallation at the marina of Zeas, one of the biggest marines of the Mediterranean today and along the shores of Piraiki. Furthermore, the finds of an ancient theatre of the 2nd century in Pasalimani and the Public Theatre is also impressive. It’s a neo-classical building in the centre of the town.
The region of Attica is divided in the East, West, North and South. In the East coast, the seaside areas of Vravrona and Porto Rafti attract hundreds of visitors during the summer time, as well as Rafina, the second important port of Attica. Also, Oropos is a famous resort area.
West Attica, which extends from the shores of Saronic Bay to the Corinthian Gulf, it has beautiful villages with clean beaches. Agioi Theodori, Kineta, Alepohori, Porto Germeno are some of these villages. North Attica extends to the roots of the mountains Parnitha and Penteli, which are remarkable “lungs” of oxygen. The areas of Kifisia, Ekali, Nea Erithrea and
Drosia, are green and some of the most benefited areas of Attica, as Penteli and Parnitha.
South Attica, with the beautiful beaches is one of the most expensive areas of the region Especially, Varkiza, Voula, Vouliagmeni, Kavouri and Glyfada are considered as the top suburban areas. Sounio, with the Temple of Poseidon, which is one of the most beautiful temples of antiquity, the amazing sunset and the clean sea, is a famous resort area.
The islands of Argosaronic Bay are included in the region of Attica, very close from Athens. In the cosmopolitan Spetses, Hydra, Poros, Salamina, Aigina, Agistri, Methana one can enjoy weekend journeys and sallies with boats.

Three regions with a long history, Achaia, Ilia and Aitoloakarnania, constitute Western Greece, a land of uplifting light & dazzling colours.

Western Greece is an ideal summer holiday destination for young and old alike. The destination has numerous beach with safe, shallow waters and multitude of attractions to excite young and fertile imaginations.
The Kourouta, Arkoudi with the fine sand, the sandy Samiko beach or the vast stretch of sumptuous shoreline from Zacharo all the way to Kaiafas in the Land of Olympia οr perhaps Kalogria, Platanos, Lakopetra in the the land of Achaia Land, maybe the sandy beach of Louros, the picturesque Mytikas, Vathiavali with the sapphire waters in the land of Aitoloakarnania, it really is impossible to choose beach.
The Historic Past Archaeological sites in incomparable locations, historic walls and seafront castles, picturesque monasteries and museums of vast cultural importance: Western Greece teaches Greek history once again with its rich religious and cultural heritage. Admire Hermes by Praxiteles, an ode to beauty in the statue

form in the Archaeological Museum of Olympia and after the artistry comes the ingenuity of the ancient Greeks in the Museum of Ancient Greek Technology in Katakolo. A collection of exhibits in Messolonghi city museum, reminding us all of the struggle and the sacrifice in the name of freedom by its people, can easily move any visitor to tears. Finally, there are also exhibits of great historical value in the Archaeological Museum of Aigio.
The vivid land
Achaia is a mosaic of natural habitats, seas, mountains, picturesque villages and modern cities with a long history. Patra, a Gateway in Western Greece to the Mediterranean, carries you away with its frenzied pace, just like the beautiful Aigio. At Achaia the historical town of Kalavryta is inextricably bound to the time of the Nazi occupation of Greece and at the Sacrificial Ground, a huge cross stands as a reminder of the events.
There the famous Monastery of Agia Lavra, which is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, is umbilically connected with the beginning of the revolution of 1821.
A unique experience you can’t possibly miss is a ride on the little train of the famous rack-and-pinion railway. For 120 years it has offered its passengers a slice of old world enchantment, ploughing its well-worn route though the Vouraikos gorge. The construction of the bridge of Rio-Antirio is a tremendous feat. It’s one of the largest suspension bridges in the world, it is the face of modern Greece, a beacon to the creative, pioneering spirit and the cooperation.
In the valley of the Alfios, at the foot of Kronios hill, at Ilia is the Ancient land of Olympia, the most glorious sanctum of the ancient world, stands as an international symbol of

humanity. It was here that the Olympic Games were born in honour of Zeus and were accompanied by the sacred truce that signalled a pause in hostilities between cities. The message of noble emulation and peace is preserved even today by this holy place and delivered through the Olympic Flame to every corner of the earth.
Kyllini is the gateway to the Ionian, a rapturous synthesis of sea, sand and history.
Hills with olive and lemon trees, exotic beaches, magical sunsets, trawlers leaving the port for the catch of the day and a rich historical and cultural heritage are proudly on display. With every sort of accommodation available, from ultra-luxurious hotels to camp sites, Kyllini guarantees comfortable organized holidays for families, couples and groups of friends those seeking exciting excursions or just precious moments of tranquillity.
Aitoloakarnania is a magical place which speaks volumes of history and culture and makes an ideal excursion destination for those seeking plenty of enthralling sights and experiences. Messolonghi is a city to inspire heroes. Some of the most momentous events of the 1821 Revolution against the Ottoman occupation occurred here. Nafpaktos with the Venetian Castle invites you to get to know it and its immediate surrounds and then make it a springboard for exciting experiences at sea, in nearby mountain villages and on rambles through its luxuriant nature.
Agrinio is one of the largest cities in Western Greece, an active financial and commercial centre, a living city. However, a tour of the surrounding area, with the city as your starting point, will come as a pleasant surprise, since it reveals a diverse, stunningly beautiful landscape, archaeological sites and religious monuments of special significance.

In the place where nature and the blue of the sea meet, the visitor has come to Peloponnese, the “island of Pelopas” with the unique beauty.
Peloponnese is cited in the southeast of the Balkan Peninsula and it is connected with main Greece through a lane of land, Isthmos of Corinth, of 5 km. width. Geographically and administratively Peloponnese is separated to the subregions of Corinth, Argolida, Arkadia, Lakonia, Mesinis, Ilia and Achaia. Especially Corinth, which is next to the Corinthian and the Saronic Gulf, it is differentiated for its archaeological places and its unique combination of nature and sea. Next to the downtown of Corinth, it is situated Loutraki, the city with the international fame and the Casino. Moreover, the visitor has the chance to taste the wines of Nemea, to visit the Loutra of Oraia Eleni, the famous from antiquity Stymfalia Lake, the north Trikala and the nearest snow centre, as well as the National Drimo in Sarantapicho.
Continuing its tour to Argolida, the tourist stays speechless from the ancient theatre of Epidaurus, where the known worldwide festival takes place, as well as from the cosmopolitan summer resorts that are extended from Tolo and Drepano to Porto Heli, Costa and Ermioni. Argolida, which is inhabited since the 8th millennium A.D., is known as the centre of Mycenaean civilisation. Mycenae attracts the interest of
the visitors with the amazing Pili of Lions and Nauplia, the first Greek capital from 1828 to 1834.
In the centre of Peloponnese, it is located Arkadia, the best choice for those who want to visit picturesque sceneries and traditional villages, large landscapes and clean shores. The capital of this region is Tripoli, located in the centre of the fertile land of Arkadia and Parnonas around it, with the rich monasteries, the scenic Dimitsana, the industrialized Megalopoli and the historic Astros, lying next to the sea. For those who like ancient civilizations, the ancient areas of Tegea, Mantinia and Orchomenos will attract their interest, as well as Karitaina with the famous Venetician castle, the nautical city of Leonidio, but also the tourist resorts of Vitina and Stemnitsa. In the subregion of Lakonia, it is situated Sparti, where Doriis were located since 11th century A.D., by creating there their centre which was developed in a most powerful centre that dominated in Greece after the Peloponnesian war. One can also watch carefully the signs from the Byzantine period and the French occupation. The “dead city” of Mistra looks powerful through the years and her fame is beyond the local borders. The same things happen with Monemvasia and the

legendary Mani, with its traditional rock towers. The cave of Diros and the mountain of Taigetos are the gifts of nature for the land of Lakonia, while polls of attraction are Neapoli and Elafonisos.
Continuing to the historic Mesinia, the tourist will meet a region with strong presence through the years, not only from the ancient ones, but also from the recent years, especially in the Revolution of ‘21, where it was the centre of the Greek fighters. Kalamata is the glorious capital, famous for its long shores and luxuriant vegetation, while Methoni and Koroni located in the two sides of Mesinia are discriminated thanks to their Cycladic characteristics. Pilos has also an island figure, and one of the most seaside and tourist cities is Kiparisia. Westside of Peloponnese, it is located the subregion of Ilia, with Olympia the birthplace of the Olympic games. The tourist will be dazzled from the strong archaeological air of the region, as well as from the temple of the Epicurus Apollo in the sheer Vasses and from Andritsaina, situated in a green hill.
The river Neda stands out with its impressive waterfalls and Zacharo the seaside city filled with pines and olive trees is found. The spa of Kaiafa, the river Alfios known from antiquity, the mediaeval Katakolo and the Loutra of Kilini are the most spectacular sights of the region.
Finally, Achaia with Patras as a capital city is regarded as an important travel connection, as it is connects our country with Italy and Peloponnese with Ionian Islands. The clean and filled with green seashores of Peloponnese steal tourist’s heart at first sight.
The beautiful and traditional village of Akrata, the verdant Diakofto, where the train that begins for Kalavrita, but also Aigio with the great platan that Pausanias reported in his travels, are main features of the region.
Another advantage of the area is Rio, the connection with Peloponnese and Sterea Greece and Ipirus, the glorious Kalavrita, the Grand Cave and the legendary Agia Lavra, as well as the famous snow centre of Helmos.

Being a «melting - pot» of disparate cultures as early as the ancient years, appearing as a realy «endowed» land in every way and possessing a really deep-rooted history and a unique natural wealth, Northern Greece charms every visitor, as it provides them generously with plenty of opportunities to wonder in the real depths of history and tradition.
The journey to Northern Greece begins in Macedonia and it is completed in the bordering Thrace. From an administrational point of view, Macedonia is divided to three parts, Central, Western and Eastern Macedonia. In Central Macedonia, the first area in every visitor’s itinerary is Imathia Perfecture, in which «Seli» and «Pigadia of Naoussa» Ski Centers can be found. Apart from these two Centers, Aliakmona’s Valley, some bushy green mountains and the well known Vergina Archeological Site lure each visitor. Veria is the capital of Imathia Perfecture, a city spread out in the foot of Vermion mountain. Among other worth visiting cities, one could point out Naoussa, an overwhelmingly green city. One of the most well known Perfectures of Greece is Thessaloniki Perfecture. The city of Thessaloniki, also known as «The bride of Thermaikos Gulf», is Perfecture’s Capital, it is considered as «The Co-Capital» of Greece and, at the same time, it is aknowledged as one of most important ports in Greece. The famous «White Tower» is considered as the city’s «trademark». While in Thessaloniki, one can visit St. Dimitrios church, lots of interesting museums and of course «Rotonda», a monument dated around 300 p.d., as well as Galerios Arch. Really close to Thessaloniki, one could find Chalkidiki, one of the most beautiful places in the whole greek territory, an «endowed» land in any way. Chalkidiki area is formed by three thin, pine-clad peninsulas with 550.000 metres of sea shores. In this area, one can visit ancient cities, prehistoric cages, Byzintine convents, modern seaside towns, elements of the greater «puzzle picture» of Chalkidiki land. The city of Poligyros is the capital of Chalkidiki Perfecture, a city spread out in

an amphitheatrical shape, on the foot of Cholomontas mountain. Nearby, one could find Arnaia, an area characterized as «historic land» by Ministry of Culture. Also known tourism resorts in the same area cities such as Kassandra, Kallithea, Nea Moudania, Nea Kallikratia, Ouranoupolis and Ammouliani. Of course, well known at a global basis is «Mount Athos» or the «Garden of Virgin Mary» as it is often called in Greece, a well respected monastic state, in which entrance is denied to women.
Doirani lake, Axios river and the whole bushy green landscape are some of the advantages of Kilkis Perfecture. Capital of this Perfecture is the city of Kilkis, a beautiful city built on the foot of St George’s hill. As for the neighbouring Perfecture of Pella, the whole area is characterized by its inexhaustible natural and cultural wealth. Edessa is the capital of this Perfecture, a city which overlooks the whole macedonian valley. Passing to Pierias Perfecture, the «scenary» is formed by Kilometres of sandy coastlines, Olympus Mount which is the higher mountain of Grecce and, according to Greek mythology, it was also the formal residence of 12 Gods. The capital of this Perfecture is Katerini, a city built between Olympus Mount and Pieria Mountains. When it comes to Western Macedonia part, the first Perfecture to came across is that of Grevena.
The rich flora, the unspoiled forests, the National Preserve of Pindos Mountains with its well known «Valia Kalnta», as well as the water sources and waterfalls create a unique nutural ensemble. Epirus manages to be a one-ofa-kind destination: an enviable combination of cultures and traditions, with a natural environment unique in Greece, and it never fails to surprise and delight its visitors.
Epirus is the part of the world that combines everything. In a very short time, you can be transported from the top of the highest mountain to the green waters of magnificent beach in Parga or Igoumenitsa; you can admire the modern architecture in Ioannina,as well as the traditional nobility in Metsovo;you can engage in intense activities and enjoy the peaceful tranquility. Epirus lies in the northwest of Greece. The country itself is part of the Balkan region, yet it reaches as far as the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. This is the most mountainous region of the Greek peninsula, here in southeastern corner of Europe, the southernmost part of the Balkan Peninsula.
The Pindos mountain range, its tallest peak reaching a height of 2,600 meters, forms a natural border and at the same time is the area through which the region connects to the rest of the country. To the north of the administrative region of Epirus lies the border with Albania, to the east lie the regions of Macedonia and Thessaly, and to the south it reaches as far as the Ambracian Gulf and the border with the region of Aitoloakarnania. To the west is the Ionian Sea and its seven islands. The administrative region consists of the Prefecture of Ioannina, its administrative centre being the city of Ioannina, the Prefecture of Arta (the city of Arta being the administrative centre), the Prefecture of Preveza (its administrative centre being the city of same name, Preveza), and lastly Thesprotia, the centre of which is the city of Igoumenitsa. The capital city of the administrative region is Ioannina, located in the northwest.
The region covers an area of 9,203 square kilometers, approximately 6.7% of the total land area of Greece. Its population numbers some 336,392 inhabitants. Its geomorphology is primarily characterised by mountainous terrain and abundant surface waters. The result is that this particular region is especially beautiful, with a richly diverse flora and fauna.
An area with ancient establishments, impressive landscape diversity, cute coastal villages, serene esplanades. The Regional Unit of Preveza and its towns and villages combine everything that is needed in order to thrill every visitor!

After the desolation of Ancient Nikopolis, the city of Preveza, established in the 12th century, takes over as the new administrative and financial center of Thesprotia. Today, with its picturesque alleys, the wonderful walk along the Amvrakikos, its neoclassical buildings and its fascinating cultural events is considered an essential stop on your ride around the Epirus Riviera.
The amphitheatrically built “Nymph of Epirus” town of Parga is just a short ride away from Preveza and is one of the must-see’s of the area. Some of the reasons that make a visit worthwhile are the Castle, standing imposingly at the highest point of the town, the Island of Panagia with the chapel, the beautiful alleys and the paved promenade by the sea, as well as for the nearby Valtos, Kryoneri and Lychnos with their distinct crystal clear waters.
The Regional Unit of Arta is the southeastern edge of Epirus. 70% of its mountainous terrain are harmoniously elevated mountain peaks with countless spring waters, plains, rivers such as Arachthos, Louros and Acheloos, fertile valleys with citrus crops, while the wetland of Amvrakikos is the seaside. In between all the above are villages and towns built in the past centuries by Artinians who learned how to live with Nature, worship and respect it. The city of Arta is the capital of the Regional Unit of Arta, a city built on the ruins of glorious Ancient Amvrakia, monuments of which can still be found today in the city center.
The famous stone bridge of Arta, the Monastery of Parigoritissa, as well as Skoufa Street with its market are some of the many attractions of the city. Make Arta your first stop on your road trip around the area!
Of the 30 villages in the Tzoumerka mountains, most belong to Arta. Vourgareli in the southern part of the mountain range, built at 800m near Acheloos, has one of the most picturesque squares and stunning views to the steep slopes. Melissourgi is another

favorite village for every visitor, while Agnanda is a capital village of Tzoumerka, with many running waters that gush directly from mountain springs such as Krya Vrysi, Goura and Karoula. Theodoriana is the village with the most spring waters in Greece and one of the most significant villages in eastern Tzoumerka.
The Regional Unit of Ioannina is the largest of the four in surface area and population. Its capital is, of course, Ioannina, a city with a significant cultural depth, landscapes of huge natural beauty and an active young population which is the heart and soul of the city. See the Island of Ioannina, wander on the cobbled alleys, Kallari Street and Pargis Square and let the road take you to Its Kale, with the stunning view to Lake Pamvotida. After a full walk around Ioannina, it is time to explore the villages and the rest of the fascinating settlements of the regional unit.
The Zagorohoria are 46 villages with traditional architecture nestled in steep slopes and hillsides between Ioannina, Metsovo and Konitsa and among forests, stone bridges, scattered on the foothills of Mt. Tymfi and next to the 2 National Parks of Epirus.
The name “Zagorohoria” is of Slavic origin and means “behind the mountains”. Discover Monodendri with the breathtaking view to Vikos Gorge, the village of Aristi built on the riverbed of Voidomatis, the impressive Mikro (small) and Megalo (great) Papigo under the “Towers of Astraka” rocks, Vovousa in the heart of the “Warm Valley” Valia Calda and Zitsa with its longstanding tradition in the white wines.
What could we possibly say about Metsovo! This governmentdeclared “traditional settlement” is a mountain town nestled at an altitude of 1,160m, with an attractive background that includes the “Metsovites” (people of Metsovo) of Vlach origin, renowned woodcarvers and their works throughout Greece and the Balkans. Metsovo–the name derives from Slavic “mecka” and “ovo”
meaning the “village of the bear”, has a long history with benefactors, namely Evangelos Averoff, as well as a tradition in wine with the most mountainous vineyards in Greece and its seal of approval, that of... the bear brown!
At the northern end of the regional unit and between the mountains of Grammos, Tymfi and Smolikas lie the Mastorohoria, 27 settlements in Konitsa, built devoutly with stone and wood by the famous Epirus stone craftsmen. Take a tour around Pyrsoyianni, Vourbiani, Plikati, Drosopigi, and Ayia Paraskevi.
The Regional Unit of Thesprotia is characterized by a long and beautiful coastline, but at the same time its mountainous areas are famous for the traditional air they exude. Igoumenitsa is a small coastal town and the largest port connecting Greece with Italy and the Balkan countries of the Adriatic Sea.
Sivota, one of the most famous summer resorts of the mainland Riviera, is a picturesque seaside village built in an idyllic landscape dominated by deep greenery, with hills surrounding a magnificent bay, islets and beaches with green waters. Sayada at the northwestern tip of Thesprotia is a village next to the Ionian Sea with cobbled streets, threshing floors, churches and archaeological sites such as the Tower of Sayada and Strovili, while Filiates is located between the river Kalama and the Greek-Albanian border, with the ancient city of Titani, the Monastery of Gyromeri, the folklore museum of Tsamantas and the traditional settlements of Plaisio and Finiki nearby. Paramythia is a village amphitheatrically nestled at the foot of Mount Koryla and overlooks the fertile plain, while the seaside Perdika with its vast olive groves and deep blue coasts every night looks out at the lights of Corfu that shine from afar. Worth a visit is of course Souli, a mountain village similar to a fortress where the brave Souliotes warriors rebelled against Ali Pasha.
