“I also collaborated with my psychologist,” she says, “which I always do, to get an angle from a psychological perspective of why a person with such a complicated psychology that’s so abusive to other people, where that could have come from in her youth and childhood. So with the facts that they gave me I kind of figured it out. That’s the work of an actor, is kind of being a detective tr ying to figure out who you’re creating, who you then become the advocate for.”

After seven seasons, ABC has decided to end the food-themed, Daytime Emmy-winning weekday program, though episodes are slated to remain on the air until September At that point, the slot will be assumed by a third hour of “Good Morning America” (presumably with an altered title, since it won’t be morning then). A: This is one of those cases where we’re glad we hold to our “never say never” rule, especially since there was such an outcr y from fans (as well as star Tim Allen) when ABC canceled the sitcom. A few factors account for this, not the least of which was the demonstration by “Roseanne” – before its own cancellation – of how strongly a series revival can perform if the fan base is still there. Syndicated repeats of “Last Man Standing” have fared quite well, so one has to think that also went into the decision to bring the show back in first-run episodes. And it’s not a small matter that the series is made by 20th Centur y Fox Television, since with the Fox network bringing it back, the production costs and potential profits stay in the family (at least until a pending sale of part of the company possibly makes those entities not-as-close “relatives”).

Yeh makes comfort food with an ethnic/regional flair on ‘Girl Meets Farm’
She may be a Juilliard-trained percussionist, but Molly Yeh found that food prep offered her something music could not – a more fulfilling creative outlet.
And that’s on display in her new Sunday morning Food Network series “Girl Meets Farm,” premiering June 24. From her farmhouse kitchen on the Minnesota/North Dakota border, the New York City transplant walks viewers through the preparation of original comfort food recipes inspired by her Jewish and Chinese heritage and her Midwest locale.
In the series premiere, she shows how to make a truly Midwestern delight, the taco in a bag.
“You put all of your favorite taco toppings in a bag of corn chips and then you can walk around eating it,” explains Yeh, who is best known for her blog “ my name is yeh” and her best-selling cookbook “Molly on the Range.” “It’s a thing that you eat at parties or at street festivals and stuff And so I did a version with local fish, with walleye, which is a really delicious local whitefish here. And so those I was making for my sister-in-law’s baby shower.”
Among other dishes she’ll be demonstrating are the garlic and onion challah, a dark chocolate scone with marzipan and scallion pancakes. Each of the seven half-hour episodes will have themes such as a girls lunch, a family visit, a farm supper or an anniversary celebration and all will have an emphasis on fun.

“It’s all food that means something to me,” she says, “food that tells a story and food that has been inspired by my heritage or the food that I learned about when I moved to this area that is really just a way to connect with the region and to learn about my new community and to dive deeper into my husband’s heritage and the history of the farm and the history of the area. And so these are all dishes that just are really special to me and important to me and that tell those stories.”
