Hillar y Clinton is the subject of “Hillar y,” premiering Friday on Hulu.

‘Hillar y’ – Her side of the stor y Muskogee

Hulu’s ‘Hillar y’ profiles the woman, the public figure, the lightning rod

No matter your opinion of Hillar y Clinton, you will feel like you know her a lot better after watching “Hillar y. ”

Premiering Friday, March 6, on Hulu, the fourpart documentar y from director Nanette Burstein (“On the Ropes,” “ The Kid Stays in the Picture”) offers an up-close-and-personal view of the former first lady, U.S. senator, Secretary of State and presidential candidate through intimate inter views with her, friends, family (including her husband, former President Bill Clinton), contemporaries (including former President Barack Obama), staff and journalists, as well as never-before-seen footage from her presidential campaign in 2016

All the major events in her life and career –good and bad – are covered, including her time as first lady, her unsuccessful push for universal health care, her campaign for women’s rights, Whitewater, her run for the Senate, appointment as Secretary of State, Benghazi, the email fiasco that undermined her presidential campaign and her husband’s sexual misconduct with intern Monica Lewinsky and subsequent impeachment. In each case, Clinton is unflinching and candid in her accounts and only once, when discussing her husband’s infidelity, does she get emotional.

Of course, it is important to bear in mind that this is all her side of the stor y but the documentar y is nonetheless a fascinating portrait of a consequential woman, one who provokes strong opinions and emotions pro and con. And doing the film gave her another theor y as to why

that is, as she told a recent gathering of journalists in Pasadena, Calif

“I became a kind of Rorschach Test for women and women’s roles as soon as I burst onto the public scene when Bill was running for president,” she says. “I’d lived more than 40 years before that, and I had no real understanding of what it meant to be thrust into this highest, brightest platform and tr y to live your life and kind of go along with what you’d always done.”

One rude awakening came when she spearheaded the Clinton administration’s efforts for universal health care in the mid-’90s, when all the parties that would oppose it brought themselves fully to bear.

“Little did I know that it would create the most extraordinar y backlash ...,” she says. “And there’s a scene in the movie, which I had forgotten until Nanette dug it up, of me being burned in effigy for wanting health care. So part of it was the timing that I came on the national scene, what I chose to do – which was extremely controversial –the fact that I was the sort of ‘first first lady’ of my generation and had been working ever since I was a young woman in the professional workforce.

“And you don’t have to like everybody in public life,” she continues. “You can not vote for them because of whatever reason you pick, so I’m sure there were personal reactions. But I think it was even more rooted in the time we were in and the kind of challenging impression that people had of me at that time and who I was and what I cared about and what I did.”

Ashley Jensen of the “Agatha Raisin” movies on Acorn TV

“This is going to be embarrassing but there’s a program that I watch called ‘Gogglebox.’ This is in the U.K. It’s insane. What it is is a program about people watching the television. It sounds awful, it sounds a little bit cheap and if I’m honest, I was a little bit snobby about it in the beginning. But I have never watched a more lifeaf firming reality TV show that just makes you think, ‘Do you know what? We are all the same.’ We all have the same worries, the same issues and quirks. It’s ver y funny.”

Scott Wolf of “Nancy Drew” on The CW

“I watch way more news than I should – especially political news – but I also love watching stand-up comedy specials, like the last couple that Dave Chappelle put out. Having a good laugh is always good for the soul.”

Chefs vie for a career-making job on ‘Vegas Chef Prizefight’

Imagine cooking for hungry Las Vegas diners ready to pay top dollar for your first-class creations, all in front of TV cameras and lights. Those are the challenges and pressure faced by contestants on Food Network’s latest competition series “Vegas Chef Prizefight.”

Premiering Thursday, March 5, the six-episode series tasks eight elite chefs of disparate backgrounds and culinary viewpoints with arguably the toughest job interview they’ll ever face, doing dinner service at different restaurants in the Caesars Entertainment realm to prove they have the talent, leadership and determination to run a high-profile restaurant in Las Vegas, one of the world’s greatest foodie cities.

The winner – as determined by host Anne Burrell, chef Scott Conant, Caesars Entertainment executive Eileen Moore and rotating guest judges – lands a job as head chef at the newly created $10 million restaurant at the Flamingo on the famed Strip

“This is a dream job for somebody,” Burrell explains, “I mean, a brand new restaurant, you get to be a part of it from the beginning. I don’t know but I think (this is) one of the biggest stakes that Food Network has ever put on a show like this.”

“They’re going to be really involved in making the menu,” she continues, “and they will have some input on what the design of the restaurant looks like. I mean, they are really in it. It’s a big job.”

And to do a job like this means having a diverse skill-set. In addition to being a talented chef and expert handler of pressure, the successful candidate needs to be good teacher, a good listener and a good

“It was really nice to see, after we got a couple of weeks into the process, people really start to be comfortable and showing us what they can do as cooks,” she says. “You know, once you get past all the nerves, once you peel all of the noise away around the whole process and people really settle in and put their heads down, it got really exciting.”

8:00 p.m. FOOD Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Grub from around the globe.

8:30 p.m. FOOD Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Outof-the-ordinar y eats.

7 p.m. on KTUL

The Bachelor

It’s good to be “The Bachelor” in most respects, because that role puts a guy in the power seat as he goes looking for love among a bevy of beauties. This two-hour “Women Tell All” special episode, however — a staple in every season of this show — often is an exception to that rule, since it provides a forum to the candidates already eliminated by Peter Weber, this season’s Bachelor. You can bet some may have strong opinions about how things went for them.

8 p.m. on STARZ Movie: Aquarela

Don’t go into Victor Kossakovsky’s 2019 documentary looking for a strong story or absorbing characters, but you definitely will not be bored. In a sense, the film is a stark warning against climate change, and presents an eye-popping series of images showing man at the mercy of water in its many forms, but many viewers may find themselves suffering from sensory overload after awhile, owing in part to the aggressive, somewhat relentless musical soundtrack. It’s a powerful but exhausting experience.

9 p.m. on FX Breeders

Martin Freeman (“Sherlock”) and Daisy Haggard (“Episodes”) star in this new 10-episode Britcom as Paul and Ally, both of whom are juggling busy full-time careers along with the non-stop parental demands that come with raising young kids Luke and Ava (George Wakeman, Jayda Eyles). Things around their household get much more complicated, though, when Ally’s estranged father, Michael (Michael McKean), unexpectedly turns up on their doorstep needing a place to stay. Joanna Bacon and Alun Armstrong also star as Jackie and Jim, Paul’s parents.

As the soapy music drama returns to finish out its final season, starting with a spring premiere called “Can’t Truss ’Em,” the Lyons clan is rocked by a loss, which forces one of them to deal with a stillunresolved past trauma. Andre (Trai Byers) comes to an important decision about his health, family and career, while Devon (Mario) confronts Tiana (Serayah McNeill) about her relationship with Hakeem (Bryshere “Yazz” Grey).

In his iconic role as James Bond, Agent 007, Daniel Craig has a license to kill, but does that extend to a comedy audience? Stepping well outside his usual comfort zone, Craig — who showed moviegoers a slyly funny side of his craft in the 2019 sleeper hit “Knives Out” — fearlessly takes the stage in NBC’s fabled Studio 8H to play with this show’s seasoned sketch comedy veterans. The Weeknd is tonight’s musical guest.
