Hosted by Canadian television host, cookbook author and chef Mary Berg (winner of “MasterChef Canada” Season 3), this how-to series follows as Berg gives stepby-step instructions to follow recipes that are guaranteed to impress even the pickiest of eaters, as the chef hopes to teach culinary novices and cooks alike how to expand their recipe book without any of the stress.
With multiple seasons now under her belt, Berg has focused episodes on a myriad of topics, including: how to make multiple recipes all utilizing the same base ingredients — like coleslaw used both in golden brown Japanese Okonomiyaki-inspired pancakes and store-bought rotisserie chicken, turned into a nearly unrecognizable, quick and easy Coq au Vin; upgrading store-bought cookie doughs and pie crusts to make impressive desserts; using your kitchen tools — cast iron included — to their fullest potential; and even making the correct wine and alcohol pairings, in an episode in which Berg “shakes things up with Wine Can Chicken that’s cooked with a cocktail of dry white wine, lemon and herbs” (Food Network).
In episodes to come, Food Network shares that Berg shares her love for cooking outside, detailing recipes that “take grill night to the next level.”
“Brie and Pancetta Burgers are topped with chunky grilled red onion and gooey Brie cheese,” they describe. “For a vegetarian grill-friendly main, Mary’s Grilled Soy Maple Mushrooms caramelize beautifully, and on the lighter side, Grilled Scallops with Minty Pea Salad are flavored with garlic, lemon and herbs on a peppery arugula base. Finally, Mary does some barbecue baking with decadent Cheese Stuffed Grilled Garlic Flatbreads.”

“Lifeboat” (1944): Co-written by novelist John Steinbeck, Hitchcock’s excellent melodrama loads the title craft with sur vivors of a ship that was targeted and sunk by a U-boat ... with one of the U-boat’s crew members also on the lifeboat.
“Strangers on a Train” (1951): Two travelers (Farley Granger, Robert Walker) make a pact to get rid of someone for the other person in a tale that’s been retold in numerous variations.
“The Man Who Knew Too Much” (1956): Doris Day’s musical trademark, “Que Sera Sera,” was a byproduct of her starring with Hitchcock returnee Stewart as a couple forced into foreign espionage in a remake of Hitchcock’s own thriller. Turner Classic Movies shows both this version and Hitchcock’s 1934 original on Saturday, Oct. 28.
“North by Northwest” (1959): A sensationally entertaining mix of adventure, humor and romance, this prolonged chase takes a businessman (Car y Grant again) from New York to Mount Rushmore, with James Mason the main villain and Eva Marie Saint a deceptive beauty
“Psycho” (1960): Hitchcock’s achievement with the chiller that made people war y of taking a shower - thanks to the fate of Norman Bates’ (Anthony Perkins) motel guest (Janet Leigh) - is even more impressive in its capping of a three-year run of Hitchcock classics that couldn’t be more different stylistically. Television’s “Bates Motel” recently expanded on the specific premise here.
“The Birds” (1963): Rarely have electronic sounds been used more chillingly than in Hitchcock’s take on a Daphne Du Maurier stor y that puts a town under siege from our feathered, supposed friends.
“Frenzy” (1972): Hitchcock’s next-to-last film shows him in fine form, again using one of his favorite themes with an innocent man (Jon Finch) suspected of crimes – in this case, serial killings in London.
