“The Good Place” airs its 90-minute series finale Thursday on NBC.

Don’t be surprised if “ The Good Place” has saved some surprises to end on.

Fans of the Peabody Awardwinning NBC comedy have come to expect big twists from the show, and it seems likely that more are in store as it fills a 90-minute slot to end its four-season run Thursday, Jan. 30. An extended series finale will be followed by a cast gathering hosted by Seth Meyers, allowing for time to dissect whatever may happen as the afterlife misadventures of Michael (played by Ted Danson), Eleanor (Kristen Bell) and company wrap up

Creator and executive producer Michael Schur made the decision to end “ The Good Place,” and Bell remembers the phone call that informed her “I was driving in the car,” she recalls, “and I had a sixth sense about what he was about to say because he said, ‘Hey, we need to talk.’ And I said, ‘Before you say anything else, you have to promise me that you’ll write me a show after this one, and that’s the only way I’m not going to hang up on you.’ And he said, ‘OK.’ ”

Two-time “Cheers” Emmy winner Danson certainly has done his share of series, but he notes, “ What’s different about the ending of this show is we knew it was coming, and we knew it was right

to end. Usually, you are informed by a network that the show’s over, or there’s some turmoil around it ... so it feels like something’s been taken away from you. ”

Danson adds, “(With this,) we all got to be part of going, ‘Here. Here’s our gift.’ I hope that doesn’t sound pompous, but we all were part of the decision, and here: Please enjoy. You don’t usually get that kind of opportunity.”

“ The Good Place” also has done much for the careers of co-stars D’Arcy Carden, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil and Manny Jacinto “I can only hope, no matter where I am on the call sheet going for ward, that I can sort of promote the same atmosphere that these two so generously gave us,” Harper says of Danson and Bell. “I feel like there’s no people on this planet that are as generous and professional and talented.”

Schur believes that what he deems “the mission of the show” stays true to the end of “ The Good Place.” He reflects, “You can tr y to be a good person this way, or you can tr y to be a good person this way. And what we ended up saying was, ‘We’re going to present a bunch of options’ – and by the way, there are plenty more that we didn’t describe – ‘but what’s important is that you tr y one of them.’ ”

Alison Pill of “Star Trek: Picard” on CBS All Access

“I’ve star ted ‘Watchmen.’ I think it’s really interesting. I think Damon Lindelof makes really fascinating TV and I like how uncomfor table it is.”

Fox football analyst Troy Aikman

“I’m not watching anything these days. This time of year, I’m pretty much all football so about ever y free second I have I’m watching film and doing that. Last of fseason, I got into ‘Breaking Bad’ and star ted watching all that and then watched it all. ... And the latest one that they came out with (‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’) so I did car ve out some time and caught that one. ”

Dave Karger of Turner Classic Movies

“A show that I really love is ‘Long Lost Family,’ where they reunite adopted children and their biological parents. The show makes me sob each and ever y time I watch it, but I love a good cr y. ”

Carrie-Anne Moss of “Wisting” on Sundance Now

“I kind of go through phases with watching TV because I have three kids so I don’t really have a lot of time to watch TV The last thing I watched that I like really loved was ‘Killing Eve.’ I haven’t watched the second season yet. I watched the first season. I actually just kind of binged ‘Nashville.’ I was in Nashville working and so I just binge-watched that show. I really loved it actually It was really good.”

You can’t really say it’s the NFL’s best players either, as no players from either of the two teams headed for next Sunday’s Super Bowl will take part.

Judd (Jim Parrack) accuses Owen (Rob Lowe) of giving preferential treatment to TK (Ronen Rubinstein) in a new episode called “Texas Proud,” and the circulation of another viral rescue video leaves Marjan (Natacha Karam) feeling ostracized at her new mosque. While the team responds to an accident at a grain silo, Owen tries to help Michelle (Liv Tyler) uncover new information about her sister’s disappearance. Sierra McClain also is featured.

In the aftermath of a mysterious and nearly catastrophic incident at the precinct, Bright (Tom Payne) finds himself the target of a pointed review by the department’s internal affairs division. Meanwhile, even Gil (Lou Diamond Phillips) and the other supportive members of the team find themselves increasingly concerned that Bright’s mental health is very fragile indeed. Michael Sheen, Bellamy Young, Aurora Perrineau and Halston Sage also star in the new episode “Internal Affairs.”

9:01 p.m. on FOOD Challenge

The theme of the Season 4 finale is “Back to the Future Cakes,” linked to the 35th anniversary of the iconic sci-fi/ comedy movie series starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. Host Ian Ziering introduces four virtuoso cake artists who respond to their challenge brilliantly, delivering cakes that draw from such unforgettable imagery from the movies as DeLorean vehicles and flux capacitors. After an early round sends one competitor home, the three finalists compete for the $10,000 prize. Matt Adlard, Keegan Gerhard and Claudia Sandoval are the judges.

As the recent epic mega-crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths” underscored, executive producer Greg Berlanti and The CW have crafted a vibrant DC Comicsbased fantasy universe of programming, but it all started eight seasons ago with “Arrow,” which — like its muscular title character (Stephen Amell) — provided the strong shoulders for the later shows. Former series regular Emily Bett Rickards returns as Felicity Smoak for the series finale “Fadeout,” tonight’s final adventure for Team Arrow.

The series travels to the most species-rich continent on Earth with the new “South America,” where pumas in the Andes stalk a llama-like creature called the guanaco and rarely seen bears forage for mini avocados. In the fertile Amazon region, birds make death-defying flights through a gigantic waterfall and poison-dart frogs show a less fearsome side as they care for their babies. David Attenborough is the narrator.

Robin Bissell made his feature film directorial debut with this 2019 historical drama, which also marked a professional reunion for leading lady Taraji P. Henson and her “Empire” producer Danny Strong, who works in the same capacity here. The actress stars as Durham, N.C., civil rights activist Ann Atwater, who clashed bitterly with KKK leader C.P. Ellis (Sam Rockwell) until the two agreed in 1971 to co-chair a two-week community meeting about a school desegregation. The event changed both their lives. Anne Heche and Wes Bentley also star.
