As a young adult, she started at Hinds Community College (HCC) and was favored by the Workforce Development Coordinator at the Jackson Campus / Academic Technical Center of HCC named Mrs. Winn during that time, who asked Kimberly if she would be interested in a file clerk position at a very well-known defendant law firm. At that time, she was working part-time at Eudora Welty Library and excitedly said, “yes” to Mrs. Winn’s question about the file clerk position. It’s amazing to look back and know that during that time she was excited about this new opportunity working at a law firm and getting ready to leave the country in a couple of months, heading to Great Britain and France during that summer with participants of an International Business Program. She remembers one Sunday after an amazing service being compelled to write, and what she found herself writing was information regarding real estate. It was an entire one-page document that she wrote down, believing God for some things in the area of real estate — and it was just the beginning. It officially began in October 2024, and now she is a year in as a Realtor at Edwards Realty Co.
Her first year of real estate definitely had its ups and downs, along with growing pains / learning curve. She wouldn’t take nothing for it because it’s molding her into being the unique & dynamic Realtor she’s becoming for many!!!
Even though it appeared she was heading in different directions, that one-page document was revealed again — or reintroduced — during a very challenging time of uncertainty in her life.
Her family was driving back from Texas after visiting her beloved mother, who was in the hospital at the time, when her husband unexpectedly asked if she had ever thought about being a Realtor. Kimberly immediately said, “No!” That was in March of 2022, and afterward she prayed about it. God has amazing ways of answering us and letting us know what He wants us to do next. Sadly, her mother passed away on April 28, 2022. While going through her mother’s old items, she came across a real estate card from an old church member (Meshia Edwards, who is her broker at Edwards Realty Co.) in her mother’s possession. Her mother had always wanted to own a home one day, and Kimberly remembered how, in her late teens and early twenties, she would talk with her mom about different homes.
God was answering her in many ways during that year of 2022 as she grieved. She was reintroduced to the one-page document about real estate she had written more than 20 years earlier. Sometimes when going through life’s challenges, people forget certain aspirations or goals for the future. But God allowed Kimberly to rediscover that very document, which she still has in her possession today. Through it, God revealed His love and reminded her that He never forgets His promises.
