PRESIDENT’S NOTE Dan Bouet

AZPCA Members,

January was a busy and exciting start to the year, and I wanted to share some highlights.

I had the opportunity to attend the Zone 8 Presidents Meeting at Woodland Hills Porsche, where a lot of great information was shared across the regions. The meeting was led by our new Zone 8 Representative, Victoria Gabourel, along with PCA National Past President Tom Gorsuch. It was a valuable session and a great opportunity to connect, collaborate, and bring ideas back that will benefit our region.

We also had a really fun and memorable moment here at home with a surprise celebration for the most recent PCA raffle winners. Hosted at Porsche North Scottsdale, we surprised Eric and Shaelyn Dobrzynski with the big news. Their reaction was priceless, and the video was shared on our social media be sure to check it out if you haven’t already. A big congrats to Eric and Shaelyn, and thank you to Michael Mansour and Porsche North Scottsdale for helping make the surprise happen. We were honored to be a part of their experience.

Our HPDE program is now under new leadership. While the 2026 calendar currently shows only one HPDE event scheduled for late March, I’m excited to share that Mark Dreher has stepped in as HPDE Chairperson, with Martin Wylie serving as Assistant Chair. Mark and Martin will be taking over the program, and with the existing strong support team in place, we’re looking forward to seeing it continue to grow. In addition to the scheduled event at Inde Motorsports Ranch in late March, we expect additional HPDE events to be added to the calendar in the near future. Please join me in welcoming Mark and Martin, and I encourage members- whether you’re new to HPDE or a seasoned participant- to come out and support the program this year. It really is some of the most adrenaline-fueled time you can spend with your Porsche.

We are also still looking to fill the Equipment Chairperson role, which is an integral part of both the club and the HPDE program. If you’re interested in getting more involved and supporting our driving events, please consider stepping into this role or reaching out to the Board for more information.

You may have noticed that our social media pages have gotten a bit of a boost in activity lately. Thanks to our new Social Media Assistant, Jeff Kollin, we’ve seen some fun and creative posts featuring vintagestyle artwork. Jeff, thank you for taking that on- we appreciate your time and creativity you’re bringing to our social media.

I also want members to know that the new Board of Directors is off to a great start. You have an A team in place. They are engaged, collaborative, and committed to keeping AZPCA strong, active, diverse and moving forward.

As always, there are lots of events on the horizon, with full details included in the coming pages of this newsletter. I hope to see many of you out at an event soon!

From the EDITORS Gregg and Ali Bull

January is always a busy month if you are a car enthusiast in Arizona.

The fun starts on the Friday when the Barrett -Jackson Auction kicks off things with the Rock the Block concert, this year Cole Swindell and Chase Rice entertained the crowds to start off the unofficial Autoweek celebrations.

Not to be outdone, our Club offered up some rocking adventures for our members; January’s Monthly meeting was held at Raven Gastropub.

The first drive on the new year took members from Porsche Arrowhead to Wickenburg with a stop for lunch at Anita’s Cocina.

The Ladies enjoyed a Paint & Sip party, Rita has written a nice review on page 24.

Frank hosted the Tri-Sate Fun Run and Craig Shankin form the Las Vegas/Utah region has written an article about his experiences, jump over to pages 30-31.

The Autocross gang were in full action at Phoenix Raceway.

The second drive took members to the Tonto National Monument & Roosevelt Lake.

The first Porsches n’ Pancakes was held at Ajo Al’s, a little Mexican flair was on order.

Last but certainly not least the Ladies enjoyed a drive to Tortilla Flat.

For what is in store for members in the near future be sure to have a look at the Calendar on page 5, Upcoming events on page 6 and throughout the Newsletter for event flyers.

Make sure to open those eBlasts courtesy of Kenny Mitchell and it goes without saying always check out the AZPCA website on a regular basis.

Review - AZPCA Ladies Only Paint & Sip

and Photos courtesy of Rita Sprenkle

Fifteen AZPCA ladies rang in the New Year together at our first Ladies-only Porsche event of 2026! On January 14, we started with brunch and then headed into an afternoon Paint & Sip equal parts catching up, creativity, and laughter.

Ready, Set, Eat

Our first stop was The Breakfast Joynt at Bell and Thompson Peak Roads Scottsdale’s classic diner with a full breakfast-and-lunch menu and plenty of cozy “stay awhile” energy. We gathered at 10:00 a.m., settled in, and enjoyed some much-needed post-holiday Porsche chatter while plates of comfort food arrived one after another.

Brunch highlights ranged from eggs Benedict and French brioche toast to lunch favorites like avocado toast and a BLT with sweet potato fries (yep yummy). A few of us also couldn’t resist the ham off the bone, slow-cooked daily in the back kitchen absolutely delicious and highly recommended.

Ready, Set, Paint (and of course… Sip)

After brunch, we caravanned up to AZPCA member Dee DeFrates’ home near the top of McDowell Mountain for an afternoon of creativity and fun. Dee had everything perfectly set: each member received an artist apron, a brush set, paint palette, display easel, and canvas, and the table décor carried a playful festive artist theme that made the room feel like a little studio party. The views overlooking the valley were inspiring to us novice artists.

Over the next two hours, Dee guided us step-by-step through a desert sunset scene. No experience required (thank goodness!) and Dee proved to be a wonderfully patient, encouraging teacher Meanwhile, Rita kept the snacks coming and made sure everyone stayed happily hydrated with mimosas, wine, and water ! " $ &

Dee promised we’d each leave with a one-of-a-kind masterpiece and she delivered. We wrapped up the day with proud smiles, colorful canvases, and the kind of easy camaraderie that makes these Ladies-only Porsche events such a joy.

What our members had to say about this event:

“Fun times and FABULOUS ladies. Thank you, Dee and Rita.” Lana Griffin

“Best art class ever! Dee, thanks for opening your wonderful home.” Patti Cerf

“I agree, best class ever. And the surprise at the end, we got to keep our aprons, brushes and other art supplies. Dee, thank you for the cute memorabilia.” Mariette De Giaxa-Salvi

AZPCA OFF-Road Driving Tour & Lunch

Off-Road Driving Tour & Lunch to Crown King

Saturday, February 28, 2026

The weather will be Porsche perfect for driving your Porsche SUV or other Four-Wheel Drive Vehicle on an off-road Tour up to Crown King high in the Bradshaw Mountains for a delicious lunch at the famous Crown King Saloon. Crown King was a former gold mining town dating back to 1875 and has a current population of 133

The saloon has an interesting history and is one of the buildings still standing and in use in Crown King. The Crown King Saloon has maintained its place as the center of activity in town. The Saloon was originally constructed and operated in the nearby mining town of Oro Belle (now also a ghost town). In 1910, it was disassembled and brought to Crown King piece by piece after the mine at Oro Belle had played out. The building was home to a brothel and bar in both towns and now serves the public as a hotel, cafe, and bar.

The Tour is a 53 mile and a two-hour drive on an easy and safe all-weather Category 1 off-road dirt trail. The Tour will traverse through the rugged beauty of the Bradshaw Mountains and route through the small communities of Bumble Bee and Cleator. Cleator is the home port for the Cleator Yacht Club. Yes, there is a yacht docked outside adjacent to the Bar & General Store

Meet at – 8:15AM (8AM if you need help with setting up your FRS/GMRS Radio for the Tour Channel)

Drivers Safety Briefing – 8:30AM

Leave at 9:00AM (Sharp)

Everyone is on their own for lunch and responsible for their own check. We will be ordering from the menu

Dress accordingly. The weather may be cool for higher elevation

The elevation for Crown King is approximately 5,800 feet above mean sea level.

Registration closes Wednesday, February 25, 2026

Special Article - Tri-State PCA Adventure

A Tri-State PCA adventure…friends reconnecting with friends

Agraphic artist, living in the Washington D C area founded The Porsche Club of America (PCA) in 1955. He wanted to meet other interesting people…that also loved Porsches. With a founding motto “It’s not just the cars, It’s the people”, the club, now the largest car club in the world with 175,000 members, celebrated its 70th anniversary last year. The focus of the club continues to be camaraderie and friendship….and nowhere is this better reflected than the relationship between the Las Vegas and Arizona regions.

There has been a tradition of close friendships between the Las Vegas and Arizona PCA regions with the two groups holding joint events in Arizona or Nevada for the last 4 years. This tradition, led by Arizona’s incredible Frank Grimmelmann, led to another joint event January 16-18, 2026 with the Las Vegas region driving down to Scottsdale to join Arizona region members for three days of camaraderie and Porsche driving fun. The Las Vegas region also now includes PCA members in Southern Utah that were formerly members of the Intermountain region. Southern Utah members (from St. George and surrounding communities) are now officially members of the Las Vegas region as a result of their closer proximity to Las Vegas rather than Salt Lake City.

This latest adventure, The 2nd Annual Tri-State Phoenix Fun Run, began with Southern Utah members of the Las Vegas region driving down along the shore of Lake Mead on Northshore Road (one of the best driving roads anywhere) to Boulder City, Nevada on Thursday, and spending the night so they could join other members of the region early Friday morning, January 16, for a planned departure to Arizona. Leaving Boulder City, the group drove at a brisk pace through Kingman, Wickieup and Wickenburg before everyone separated to find their preferred Scottsdale hotels. Everyone was looking forward to reconnecting with old Arizona region friends later that evening and enjoying an evening of great food and music at the Black Mountain Cafe & Lounge. Frank (and assisted by his beautiful wife Maria and other volunteers) could not have picked a better venue. For those coming from cooler Utah temperatures, the outdoor patio was like going to Florida for Spring break. The members of the two regions blended seamlessly, enjoying a great menu and drinks while listening to a unique band…one that continuously swapped singers and band members throughout the evening. Allen Fenske, the lead guitarist even played a custom guitar…painted with images of Paul Newman’s Porsches. What an evening.

The next morning over 100 PCA members convened at the spectacular new Porsche North Scottsdale. A very large and impressive version of the new Gen 5 Porsche centers. We were welcomed by Arizona region volunteers, impressively arranging almost 50 cars into three run groups. These volunteers were friendly and skilled…they had done this before. The leader of my group was Rook Younger, the former PCA National Chair for Tours with other groups led by Cel Leal and another by Frank. The Arizona region has some impressive…and active volunteers. During the breakfast hour, I even reconnected with a Porsche sales ambassador, Valerie Burks, that had sold me my first Porsche in 1990. After selling Porsches in Las Vegas for 27 years, she had relocated to Porsche North Scottsdale 12 years ago. The dealership also provided many nice Porsche items that were given away during a fun drawing just before the drivers meeting. And then we were off…run groups separated by about 10 minutes.

After a few minutes of navigating urban traffic, we were suddenly on great driving roads carving through the Sonoran Desert…one of the most beautiful and diverse deserts anywhere. I sure hope our Arizona region friends don’t take this area for granted…it is beautiful. The desert roads quickly lead us to the foothills and then into the mountains…via New River, Wickenburg, Yarnell and crossing Mingus Mountain into Prescott…curvy roads that all Porsche owners enjoy. The scenery was like something out of a vintage Arizona Highways magazine. At one of the rest stops, one run group was just leaving, circling the roundabout like a Porsche parade, as the next run group arrived at the same roundabout. It was fun waving and flashing lights with our fellow members. We created quite a sight…with people along the shoulder stopping to take pictures or video the caravan of beautiful cars. After several fun hours we arrived into Prescott, our destination. The weather was perfect and parking was easy and plentiful in the city parking garage. Everyone was then free to find lunch on their own and spend the afternoon in Prescott as they liked or venture on to Jerome, Sedona or even Flagstaff. My group selected the Palace Restaurant and Saloon, Arizona’s oldest bar, for lunch. Located on the historic Whiskey Row, the staff was dressed in authentic western garb….and had a lot of personality.

Special Article - Tri-State PCA Adventure

The next morning, Frank had arranged for a private cars and coffee style event at Alpio’s (at Troon North). While this venue is well known to local PCA members, it was new to the Las Vegas members and was made even more special by being private and a gathering just for our group. Alpio whose name is prominent on this special event center personally showed up making it special. Two special Porsche’s were also present at his special event, Alpio drove from his collection his brutally quick Volcano Orange Twin Turbo 700 horsepower GT2 RS, 553 lb-ft of torque, and 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds, and Duane Smith who hosted the event brought his 918 mid -engined Spyder, a plug-in hybrid hypercar (with an angular, low-slung roadster design, featuring a 4.6L V8 and two electric motors (887 total hp) Members generously made volunteer donations that raised substantial funds to support the St. Vincent de Paul Society. It was the perfect end to a perfect PCA weekend. We can’t say thank-you enough to all of the Arizona region volunteers for their hospitality and friendship. This connection between our two regions has now grown even stronger…and discussions are already underway to plan our next joint event in either Las Vegas or Utah.

AZPCA REGION eNEWS

AZPCA Region publishes several emails each month to notify the members of the upcoming social and driving events and other pertinent Region business and activity information. These emails are known as eNews email blasts and will be identified by the PCA Banner as you see above.

It has come to the Region’s attention that several hundred members are not receiving the AZPCA Region’s eNews email blasts. This may be because the PCA National Office may not have your correct email address or there may be a technical problem with your email address. Or the member at one time elected to opt out of receiving the emails and would like to begin receiving them.

AZPCA Region would like to help the members in resolving this issue of you not receiving the eNews emails. IMPORTANT AZPCA Information

AZPCA Region Event Cancelation Policies & Event Organizer Responsibilities

Event Cancellation Policy

Most of our events have attendance limits, and they fill up quickly. Also, we often have waiting lists for those wishing to attend but do not have a secured attendance spot. Increasingly, attendees sign up and simply do not show up for the event without canceling in advance. This behavior impacts the event registrar/organizer, the event facility, and those on the waiting list wanting to attend but cannot. This behavior demonstrates a lack of common courtesy, requiring it to be addressed proactively. On the first occurrence a warning will be issued, and on the second occurrence privileges to attend future events may be impacted. Also, any registration fees for paid events will be forfeited without recourse since the club is charged regardless. The cancelation policy requires cancelation of your registration on MSR for paid or unpaid events a minimum of 7 days prior to the event date, unless there are serious and extenuating emergency circumstances as assessed by the event registrar/organizer. Most importantly, please be courteous to your fellow members so that everyone has an opportunity to enjoy events.

Event Organizer Responsibilities

Event organizers are required to send out a reminder approximately 9 days in advance of any event reminding registrants of the event and summarizing their responsibilities by including the following language:

Thank you for your RSVP. Please note that whether or not there is a registration fee for this event, the restaurant is expecting a certain number of attendees we provide to them in advance and incur cost accordingly If you need to cancel please do so at least one week prior to the event date (being a no-show without notice is rude to other members who wish to attend, the restaurant and to the event organizer). Additionally, if there is a fee or prepayment associated with the event, it will be forfeited if cancelled less than 7 days before the event. Thank you!”

Additionally, event organizers are requested to send out a reminder two or three days prior to the event simply as a courtesy to remind those attending.

IMPORTANT AZPCA Information

Reimbursement & Stipend Policy for AZPCA HPDE Events:

1. Reimbursement is provided to 5 key workers / volunteers for actual round-trip fuel cost (upon providing receipts), and if applicable, $120/night stipend for lodging/ incidentals. If it is not an overnight event and/or a requirement, then spend is reduced to $40. Key workers are volunteers that are attending the event solely to work the event but not participate in the event. Examples could be: Grid worker(s), Safety inspector(s), Timing and Scoring Chair, Safety Chair, Event Chair, CDI. Excludes: Corner workers/flaggers.

2. A corner worker/flagger is offered a $100 stipend or a $175 MSR credit for a future HPDE event, by choice of the flagger.

3. Other non-critical volunteer positions are provided a lunch (lunch will either paid for individually or provided as part of event to all participants).

4. The Event Organizer is reimbursed for fuel costs related to event planning/execution and round-trip fuel cost (upon providing receipts and log).

5. Continue to offer discounted registration fees for approved AZPCA Instructors.

Policy adopted by majority vote of the Board of Directors at the June 2023 BOD meeting

Danielle’s Column - Passing the Baton

o, I face-timed with my older daughter, Alison, and her three grandkids in Vancouver this morning. It’s something I try to do literally every weekend. To avoid that “out of sight out of mind” problem. And keep connecting, between visits, which are too few and far between.

And what did my youngest, Olive, who’s seven, ask me? She asked when the Formula 1 season starts again. I laughed and laughed. Olive, I said, I’m sorry, it doesn’t begin again until March.

I know, I know, I must have done something right. It’s all a bit coocoo. Her older brothers, Hugo, 11, and Bennett, 9, are F1 fanatics too. As is my son-in-law, Simon.

I’ll tell you one thing; it makes gifting a lot easier, at least for me. This year, Hugo got for his birthday a framed poster of every F1 Ferrari. And … hey, whoa, before you say shame, shame, shame on me, you should know that I really would rather send a Porsche F1 poster instead … except for the fact that, as best as I can recall, there’s only been one Porsche F1 car, way back in the early ‘60s, and I believe it only won one race. TAG engines don’t count. And this year’s extended family member, Audi, hasn’t even turned a wheel in anger.

Bennett got for his birthday a wall calendar of the 2026 F1 season. So he’ll never miss a race? Yeah, sure. I should have told Olive to look at the calendar….

For years, I’ve been giving them car toys, every time I visit. The boys can now set up a full F1 grid, in their room, on the floor. They have a ramp set up, sort of a shrunken ski jump, with two lanes, where they race the cars in a mini downhill sprint.

This is all incredibly ironic to me. Because, ever since live telecasts of F1 races began, when my daughters were young, every race Sunday morning, I’d be holed up, in front of the TV, watching the live feed … with the Sunday New York Times in my lap … for the inevitable boring bits, of course. And my daughters would stop, look and mumble something vile about me hogging the TV, again.

No, they didn’t care for the sport, not in the slightest. I’d get a “You’re watching those cars go round and round, and round and round … again?” And I’d nod. And they’d storm out.

My only conclusion is that it must be a recessive gene, one that skips generations, at least in my blood line. How else to explain it?

Although I must say that I did start the grandkids early. Until about four or so years ago, they lived in LA. And, every time I’d visit and we all went out, we’d look to spot “cool” cars. Yeah, I know, it was LA, it didn’t take long. I also got them a family membership to the Petersen Automotive Museum. And, one visit to the museum, I came down with a case of verbal diarrhea from a constant commentary on the exhibits.

Danielle’s Column - Passing the Baton

I’m thinking about how to play it forward, this year. Maybe we’ll switch to books. They still do read books, don’t they? I’ll have to ask Alison. I remember how enthralled I was with biographies. Of Jim Clark, and Stirling Moss. Reading about racing in the ‘20s and ‘30s, about the Bentley Boys, the pre-war Grand Prix Mercedes and Auto Unions.

But I’m worried. A few years ago, in this space, I wondered whether Hugo, who was, like, eight at the time, would ever actually drive a car. Or would he call up an autonomous vehicle to take him wherever he wanted to go. He’s now got six years before he can get behind the wheel, and I’m still wondering … whether there even will be a wheel. I know many manufacturers now equip their high-end cars with autonomous highway capability, including lane changing, and Mercedes will enable urban autonomous mobility in a year or so … which can only mean that the tech will trickle down the product line in the next few years … which Is what Mercedes does.

Then there’s that harbinger of the future, each January, the Consumer Electronics Show, CES for short, In Vegas, baby. Have you read the commentary from this year?

According to Wired magazine, the talk of the show was “Physical AI.” Don’t say robots. Oh no. We’re marching way beyond, to complex tasks, to thinking, to reasoning, to learning. To, and I quote, “driving itself in complex traffic situations” and “seamlessly handing off control between a human driver and a software-powered” operator which can “perceive, understand, reason, and perform in the real world.” And it’s supposed to be “a $123 billion opportunity.

Mama mia! I mean, like, hey, what kind of a brave new world will my budding enthusiast grandkids inhabit? Will they sit back and tell Hal to get it on? Will top -flight racing become a technological anachronism? Will sporting driving become a time-warp throwback for my grandkids and their ilk, when they lift their heads from their video screens?

I have no idea. I feel like I’m doing my part to keep the love alive. But I’ll have to stick around to find out if it works. I hope I do.

The Macan versus the Cayenne: What’s the Difference

People often mistake my Macan for a Cayenne. It got me thinking, other than size, what is the real difference?

At a glance, the Macan and Cayenne look like variations of the same idea: a Porsche SUV with sharp handling, elegant design, and everyday usability. But they are built for two very different drivers.

The difference is not size alone. It is its purpose.

Size and Presence

The Macan is compact and athletic. It feels like a sports sedan that happens to sit higher off the ground. Easy to park. Easy to maneuver. It feels quick, light, and nimble in city driving.

The Cayenne is a true midsize SUV. It has more road presence, more interior space, and feels more substantial from behind the wheel. You notice the extra width and length, especially on highways and longer drives.

If the Macan feels like a performance car in SUV form, the Cayenne feels like a luxury SUV that happens to drive like a performance car.

Interior Space and Practicality

This is where the separation becomes clear.

The Macan comfortably fits two adults and works well for occasional rear passengers. Cargo space is adequate for daily life, groceries, and a weekend bag.

The Cayenne is built for people who regularly carry passengers, luggage, golf clubs, or gear. Rear seat room is noticeably better, and the cargo area is significantly larger. It handles family life and travel with ease.

If space matters often, the Cayenne wins decisively.

Driving Feel

Both are unmistakably Porsche, but the experience is different.

The Macan feels tighter, sportier, and more playful. It encourages spirited driving and feels extremely composed in turns. It’s closer in spirit to a sports car.

The Cayenne feels planted, powerful, and refined. It absorbs the road more. It’s quieter, smoother, and more comfortable on long trips, while still being surprisingly athletic for its size.

Macan = nimble and fun.

Cayenne = powerful and composed.

Luxury and Options

The Cayenne sits higher in Porsche’s lineup and it shows. It offers more high-end options, more customization, and a more upscale interior feel at higher trims.

The Macan is beautifully finished but simpler. It feels premium, but not as expansive or customizable as the Cayenne.

Kimberly’s Korner - Facts, Figures and Fallacies

Price Positioning

The Macan is the entry point into Porsche SUVs. It delivers Porsche performance and design at a lower price.

The Cayenne moves into a more expensive category, especially as you add options, but you receive more space, more capability, and more luxury in return.

Who Each One Is For

The Macan tends to suit the person who thinks of driving as part of the enjoyment of the day, not just a way to get somewhere. This is someone who values responsiveness, likes the feeling of a car that moves easily through traffic and around corners, and doesn’t need a great deal of extra space. It works beautifully for a single driver or a couple, especially in a city or for shorter daily trips, where agility and ease matter more than cargo capacity. For this driver, the appeal is that the Macan feels spirited and lively every time they get behind the wheel.

The Cayenne fits a different rhythm of life. This is the driver who regularly carries passengers, luggage, or gear, and who wants the comfort and presence of a true midsize SUV without giving up the performance Porsche is known for. It’s well suited for longer drives, road trips, and fuller days where space and refinement make a noticeable difference. For this person, the Cayenne offers a sense of capability and composure, delivering both practicality and driving pleasure in equal measure.

In simple terms, the Macan is the Porsche for people who want a sports car feel in an SUV shape. The Cayenne is the Porsche for people who want a luxury SUV that still drives like a Porsche.

What It Means to You

In the end, the choice between the Macan and the Cayenne comes down to how you live and how you like to drive. If you want something compact, agile, and unmistakably sporty in everyday use, the Macan feels like a natural fit. If your life calls for more space, more comfort, and greater versatility without sacrificing Porsche performance the Cayenne steps in effortlessly. Both deliver the Porsche experience; the difference is whether you want it in a lighter, more playful form or a larger, more capable one.

The Stuttgart Market Letter

As we headed into December, 2025 had already surpassed 2024’s total dollar volume, leaving unit volume and sell-through rate as the final unknowns. December delivered on both, posting a 73% sell-through rate on $44,041,972 in sales with 583 cars crossing the block, a clear improvement over December 2024’s 70% sellthrough, $30,340,029 in dollar volume, and 462 units. For the full year, 2025 finished at a 72% sell-through rate with $583,660,924 in total dollar volume across 7,572 cars, versus 68%, $493,350,995, and 7,235 units in 2024. The result marks 2025 as the strongest year for the Porsche auction market since the peak of 2022.

For me, 2025 was RUF’s year, with five of the top six sales coming from the Pfaffenhausen manufacturer. Three of those top results were original W09 VIN’d CTRs, a car we simply have not seen at public auction in any meaningful way for as long as I can remember. All three claimed the podium for highest prices paid in 2025, led by a 1,000-mile example finished in iconic Blossom Yellow that took top honors at $6,055,000, followed by sales at $4,680,000 and $4,295,000. Rounding out the top six were two CTR Anniversary models, RUF’s first fully carbon-tubbed tribute to its 1980s legend, which sold for $3,360,000 and $3,140,000 respectively.

The lone car to break up RUF’s dominance in the top six was a 1960 718 RS 60 Spyder, which sold for $3,525,000 at RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale. The result was a pleasant surprise, as Porsche race cars from the 1950s and 1960s have had a rough few years, with many failing to sell at auction. Also from the 1960s was the most talked-about car to cross the block in 2025, the 917K hero car from Steve McQueen’s classic film, Le Mans. Owned by Jerry Seinfeld since 2001, the car initially failed to meet reserve with a $25 million high bid on the block, but ultimately found a home post-sale at an undisclosed price.

Another surprise from 2025 was the late-year Turbo surge. It was most evident in the 993 Turbo market, where a run of strong results pushed prices well beyond the prior twelve-month high of $270,000, with multiple cars selling over $300,000. Leading the charge was a 12,000-mile Black-on-Black example that nearly added $100,000 to that benchmark, hammering at a final bid of $369,000. The momentum did not stop there, as 964 Turbo 3.6 values also spiked, with two cars selling for over $800,000 in December alone, crushing the previous twelve-month high of $545,000. On the newer Turbo front, the biggest mover of the year was the 991 GT2 RS, where even a non-Weissach example broke through the $500,000 mark, selling at a final bid of $506,000.

Speaking of GT cars, 2025 proved to be a mixed bag. Earlier, more analog GT3s were clear winners, led by a sub-1,000-mile 997.2 GT3 RS that set a new high at $575,000, followed closely by a Green 997.1 GT3 RS that sold for $498,000. The year also marked the first opportunity for 996.1 GT3s to be imported into the US, as we did not receive a GT3 domestically until the 996.2. The start was shaky, with the first example failing to sell at $106,996 and the first successful US sale landing at $100,000. That first car was later re-run and achieved $145,250, followed by another sale at $128,000, suggesting early hesitation gave way to stronger conviction. Not all GT cars shared the upside, however. New 992.2 GT3s struggled, with just one of six examples finding a buyer, and even that result fell short of expectations at $384,000 against an original MSRP of $313,000, well below the early premiums enjoyed by the 992.1 GT3 when it debuted.

It wasn’t just modern and modern-classic Porsches that impressed in 2025. For me, the standout classic of the year was the SWB 912 Coupe. We saw three examples sell at or just above the $100,000 mark, with several more changing hands in the $90,000 range, a level that would have seemed unthinkable not long ago. Topping the list for the year was a 1966 912 Coupe that emerged from 25 years of family ownership and brought a strong $100,912, cementing the model’s quiet but meaningful move into six-figure territory.

The Stuttgart Market Letter

2025 was undoubtedly one for the books, but looking ahead, I expect 2026 to look a bit different. Unit volume should pull back modestly, a trend that already appears to be taking shape as January has produced the lowest number of Porsches currently for sale across the three major online auction platforms that I can remember seeing. On the product side, Boxster and Cayman pricing should begin to level off for standard variants, while special models start to separate themselves. With production of the 718 Boxster and Cayman now behind us and a gas-powered replacement still years away, scarcity will matter more than ever, and if a 000 Boxster Spyder comes to market, don’t be surprised if records fall. As always, truly special cars will continue to do special things, and the best of the best will still bring the money.

Cheers to 2026.

Drive your Porsche on a Racetrack with AZPCA!

Expand your car control skills and explore the capabilities of your Porsche on a racetrack in a safe, controlled environment with no speed limits! AZPCA’s HPDE & TT program (that’s short for High Performance Driver Education and Time Trials) is all about experiencing your Porsche on a road circuit. AZPCA provides personal driving instructors for new participants to guide them through the day. Our instructors will navigate you along the road circuit, teach you the fundamentals of driving at track speeds, but also keep you in a comfort zone so you have a good time. There are flaggers on track, just like at a real racing event. The club also arranges an ambulance and tow truck on site for emergencies.

For the HPDE events, four groups of approximately 10-25 drivers are formed based on experience level- Beginner, Intermediate, Experienced, Advanced. Grouping allows everyone attending to have a good time. Beginners don’t have to stress about having little/no experience- chances are, there are several other drivers in the same group just starting out.

Based on instructor evaluation, you are advanced to the next group up when appropriate. Sometimes this is after one day, or sometimes it takes a several events. Higher run groups typically means more speed but with a better, practiced skill set to control the speed safely. This keeps track days exciting for you as you advance your skill set.

While this is definitely NOT racing, there is a natural tendency to evaluate yourself to other drivers in your group, but HPDE is not structured to award “fast” times. To satisfy the competitive nature in you, we offer an optional “Time Trials” sessions where those specific TT sessions are timed and you compete against others in your class. Lap times are broadcast live so you can see in real time how you stack up against your competitors. Time trials are structured so that you get three clean laps, meaning, you will be by yourself on track without dealing with other cars in your way.

How is a typical HPDE day structured?

A track day starts around 6:30 -7:00 am. You’ll check-in and get your car safety inspected on-site first. A drivers meeting kicks off around 7:45 am, with the first car on track around 8:30 am. A forty minute lunch break splits the day and the event is usually over around 4:00 pm. You can expect five 20-minute sessions (100 mins total) of track time each day, although some events are structured with four 25-minute sessions. Time trial sessions are optional to add-in during your registration, and that consists of two additional timed sessions (one morning, one afternoon) consisting of three hot laps.

The beginner group will also have classroom discussion after their sessions to discuss car-control and vehicle dynamics and what they experienced.

The club either provides lunch or there is an option to purchase one on site. Since there is down time in-between your driving sessions and classroom discussion, there is lots of opportunity for comradery with other club members and opportunity to socialize and check out other cars attending.

What do you need to bring?

Your vehicle (preferably a Porsche) in good maintenance. (Some club members bring their other cars btw – we won’t shame you if you do that)

We provide a required checklist of things to inspect on your car before coming to a track day. If you aren’t mechanically inclined (or don’t care to do this yourself), you can take the checklist to a mechanic of your choice to do the inspection for you. We have a few places we can recommend if you don’t have a preferred mechanic. Main points of interest are good tires, brakes, brake fluid, no leaking fluids, no abnormal driving characteristics of the vehicle. We conduct a final brief safety inspection on your vehicle the morning of the event.

Helmets are typically available to rent when you register for the event– you can try the sport before you commit to purchasing a helmet.

There are additional items you can bring to make the day more comfortable or exciting – chairs, cameras, etc. There are lots of online video you can watch telling you to bring this or that. While that can be somewhat helpful down the road, keeping it basic is usually best. If you forget something, chances are there is someone there that will let you borrow/have theirs.

Lastly and most important: don’t forget to bring a desire to have a good time and willingness to learn!

Let’s Have Porsche Fun Getting Dirty

etting your Porsche Special Utility Vehicle (SUV) Four-Wheel Drive or your Porsche Carrera Dakar Rally Vehicle filthy dirty on an off-road trail is a lot of fun and will reward you with experience you cannot get on a twisty-asphalt paved road with your GT3RS or Boxster. Off-Road Driving Tours are like on-highway driving tours, but with more breath-taken views of nature The off-road tours provide a safe relaxed, slow paced, noncompetitive enjoyment for members to enjoy the great outdoors and backroads (trails), and to learn off-road driving techniques within the capabilities of their Porsche SUV vehicles with minimal impact on the environment

Porsche A.G. introduced the Cayenne and Macan model vehicles for Porsche car owners to enjoy various outdoor activities. The Porsche Club of America (PCA) developed a program for their members to enjoy those outdoor activities with other PCA members therefore developed program standards for the Regions to administer for their members with emphasis on safety and fun.

Those program standards are known as the PCA Minimum Off-Road Driving Tour Standards. Those standards defined/categorized five trail types with a rating designator using numbers, 1-5, and are based on the difficulty to traverse the trail from easy/safe to extremely difficult/risky dangerous

A Category 1 Trail is a graded well-maintained all-weather dirt packed gravel trail with grades less than ten degrees and wide for opposing traffic to safely pass without moving to right and stopping. No ruts or rocks to crawl over A Category 2 is a dirt gravel and sandy trail with infrequent maintenance with ruts and/or rocks up to 5 inches. Grades can exceed 10 degrees or 17 %. A Category 2 Trail is wide for two vehicles to pass safely along the entire route.

Category 1 rated Trail is an appropriate trail for Showroom Stock Porsche SUVs. Category 2 rated Trail would be more suited for Porsche SUVs with some minor vehicle/suspension modifications such as Springs and Shock packages.

A Category 3 Trail is characterized by a single vehicle two-wheel width track path trail with natural rutted washes or gulches with water crossings up to 6 inches in depth, and grades between 10°/17% to 15°/27% and some slickrocks up to 7 inches. Safe vehicle passing is only possible in selected spots.

Category 3 rated Trails may require an aggressive Spring and Shock Suspension Package, larger tires, under carriage armor with a moderate lift for additional ground clearance.

Trail Categories 4 & 5 are essentially extreme off-road trails with obstacles that have limited bypasses, rock gardens, deep water crossings, steep grades, and off-cambered narrow width trail paths. Categories 4 & 5 Trails are not approved nor will be Porsche ventured due to higher risk of personal safety and damage to the Porsche vehicle

At this time, unless there is a demand for the Region to host events on Category 3 rated Trails, the Region’s focus will be Category 1 Trails. Category 2 Trails may be a possibility in the future if members expressed an interest

Let’s Have Porsche Fun Getting Dirty

The standards also set the group size, based on the trail type category, the requirements for the Group Leader and Sweeper roles, Release and Waiver of Liability for Member Adults and Minors, Planning and Trail Driving Conduct, minimum trail & recovery equipment for the vehicle and personal provisions, Minimum (both Cellular & Two-way Radio) Communications Requirements between the Group Leader and Sweeper for all the participants.

Additionally, the PCA subscribes to the principles of the environmental organization T.R.E.A.D. (Travel Respect Educate Avoid Do) Lightly (https://treadlightly.org/learn/recreation-tips/4x4/). Their principles must be and will be followed to the maximum extent possible meaning; the Club will stay on established trails and will not blaze/start new trails.

In addition to the PCA minimum standards, there are non-PCA Trail Etiquettes that members should be aware of for the safety of everyone on the trail. It has become a standard practice that all off-road trail organizations utilize two-way radio communications to relay immediate changing trail conditions to the members of their group to avoid collisions or other hazardous conditions/situations

Although, the off-road trail groups communicate changing conditions to the member drivers in their respective groups, the individual trail groups are never on the same radio channel and have direct communications to effectively communicate between the groups. In this case, standard hand signals are usually given by the respective Group Leaders of the oncoming groups signaling the number of the following drivers and the Sweeper will signal the end/last vehicle.

The respective Group Leaders will communicate this information over their respective groups’ radio channels to the members in the groups. Where this information becomes very important are in the blind turns/curves/grades when the oncoming traffic cannot be seen, especially when the group(s) may be spread out.

For personal safety, members should never venture off-roading alone without another vehicle/driver in case there is an unforeseen situation. Also, members should develop a list of equipment and provisions to bring along with them in case their time on the trail is unexpectantly extended and the distance to services is far.

Some items to consider and be prepared with but not limited to; Water/Food, Medication, First Aid/Trail Trama Kit, Spare Tire/Jack, Wheel Blocks, Blankets, Tow Straps, Flashlight, Small Hand Tool Kit, Portable Air Compressor, Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) Off-Road Navigation Mapping System, Satellite SOS Position Tracking Device with Service, Portable Chairs (for picnic on the trail runs), Gloves, Trash Bags, Tire Gauge, Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, Hand Sanitizer and/or Cleaner, and Automotive Electrical Fuse Kit

Some trails can be rough, or wash-boarded, which can reduce the fun factor for many members. Some steps can be taken to minimize the rough roads by a technique called “Airing Down” your tire pressures when you reach the dirt road. Airing down to the appropriate and safe tire pressures will be contingent on your wheel and tire types and what is recommended by the tire and wheel manufacturers for off-road travel based on your vehicle model. You may want to consult with your Porsche Service Advisor about what is recommended for your vehicle’s wheels & tires.

Most Off-Road Touring Organizations factor in “Airing Down” and “Airing Up” locations as part of their event planning.

Some off-road vehicles have a feature that will electronically disengage the front Swaybar while off-roading by just activating the feature button on the dash/center console. By using this feature, it will allow the suspension to articulate and soften the suspension ride stiffness as you traverse over the trail rough spots without sacrificing the vehicle stability. You should check and see if your vehicle has this feature. This feature may be available only on specific suspension packages

Let’s Have Porsche Fun Getting Dirty

It is essential that everyone conduct a self-inspection of their vehicle prior to getting dirty in accordance with the PCA Off-Road Driving Tour Self-Inspection Safety Checklist. Off-Road Tours on Categories 1 & 2 Trails do not require a complete checklist to be submitted, only events on a Category 3 Trail require a completed and signed Self-Inspection Safety Checklist to be submitted

The items required to be checked are routine safety checks that normally should be performed prior to operating your vehicle. The items to be inspected are but not limited to; all Tires including the spare for Condition such as wear, bulges, cracks, the age of the tire can be critical; Tire Pressures; Undercarriage for loose or hanging components; Under the Hood for brake, power steering, engine & transmission oil levels; Windshield Washer fluid; Coolant fluid leaks; Brake Rotor & Pad wear; Hoses & Belts; Vehicle Tow Hook Accessible; and Full Fuel Tank.

The emphasis on safe driving on the trail is paramount. Member drivers should know their abilities and limitations for operating their vehicle safely in all road conditions. Members should respect the posted signs and not consume alcohol or drugs while operating any motor vehicle.

The Speed Limit should never exceed what is safe for conditions. The speed into blind curves should never exceed 15 Miles Per Hour and most cases come to a halt before safely proceeding, and always expect the unexpectant, and never assume it is safe and no one is coming around the turn. On grades, the uphill traffic should be given the right-of-way preference and if necessary, pull to the right and stop in a safe spot to allow the traffic to pass.

Members should always keep a visual on the vehicle behind them and ensure there is a safe distance with the vehicle in front and not follow too close. If the vehicle behind is no longer visible slow down or come to a halt until you have sight of the vehicle. If there is a change of directions or route deviation, you should wait at that point until the following vehicle is in sight.

Members should drive with their headlamps on to increase visibility to other drivers. No passing will be allowed unless there is a need to overtake a stationary vehicle that is no longer in transit (motion) and/or has waved you by, and if the pass can only be completed safely.

Also, included in the PCA Minimum Off-Road Driving Tour Standards is the means of communication between the Group Leader and the Sweeper, and the Tour Participants. It is important that the Group Leader communicate changing conditions, and the sweeper keeps the group leader advised on the group’s status.

In most cases, the off-road driving tours are in areas of poor cellular telephone service/coverage. Additionally, as conditions can change rapidly and it is imperative that the information gets relayed quickly, the cellular telephone is not the speediest means of effectively communicating that information, only two-way radios are the best method of communication.

There are various types of two-way radio devices used on the Trail. The most common radio devices used are the Family Radio Service (FRS) portable radios that do not require a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Radio Station Authorization (License) and the General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) radios that do require an individual FCC License. Both radios services utilize the same frequencies. The only difference is that the non-licensed FRS radio service radios operate at a lower transmitter power level than the GMRS radios The procedure to request a GMRS Radio License is merely submitting an application and a $35 fee to the FCC for a 10-year license.

Let’s Have Porsche Fun Getting Dirty

There is no requirement for the members to purchase a two-way radio in order to participate in the off-road tours. The two-way radio is just a tool for receiving safety information and if necessary to communicate with either the Group Leader or the sweeper or other members in the Tour

If the member elects to purchase a portable (walkie-talkie) radio, they should be aware that depending on the make/model of the radio purchased, the radio may or may not perform very well from inside of the vehicle and the performance may not be very effective of more than a quarter mile (1,000 to 1300 Feet in distance). The poor performing and less-than-quality radios are usually the inexpensive foreign brand radios that usually cost less than $100 for two-radio packs that are purchased at various consumer discount center retail outlets or from on-line warehouse merchandise operations.

The better performing consumer FRS or GMRS radios will normally cost more than $100 per radio and can be purchased directly on-line from the manufacturers or the respective dealers websites such as Cobra Electronics, Midland USA, Rugged Radios, or Motorola Solutions. These radios are already preprogrammed with the FRS/GMRS channels from the manufacturer.

If any member has questions regarding these radios, please feel free to contact Kenny Mitchell at kenmitchelldirector@az.pca.org

Off-Road Tours venture and explore miles and miles away from various services that may be needed if an unexpectant incident/event should occur. Also, the location of an unexpected incident/event may be difficult to identify since there are no recognizable landmarks nearby. Most off-road landmarks may not be known to emergency services. That is why it is important that drivers should have a GPS driven off-road navigational system that does not rely on a cellular telephone service signal.

The Region has hosted a few off-road driving tours in the past couple of years, and they have been well attended. The most recent off-road tour was the Crown King Off-Road Tour held in October 2025.

Also, the PCA & the Region does allow members to drive their non-Porsche SUV type four-wheel drive vehicles to participate. The driver must be an active PCA member, and the vehicle must be a legally licensed four-wheel drive SUV capable of being driven on all highways at legal speeds. In other words, no motorcycles or side by side All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) or Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) will be allowed.

Arizona Region will continue to plan future Off-Road Driving Tours for the members and their family enjoyment. If there is an interest, future tours may include a picnic along the trail and scheduling weekend dates Information on the future off-road driving tours will be listed on the Region’s website Event Calendar and in Going Places.

If there are any questions or you have suggestions regarding the off-road driving tours, please feel free to email Kenny Mitchell at kenmitchell-director@az.pca.org

Porsche market

Mart shoppers are PCA members who know Porsches, know what they’re looking at, and are serious, ready, willing, and able buyers — not tire kickers. Because PCA members take care of their Porsches, vehicle quality in The Mart is better than other websites. And these are not anonymous buyers and sellers, they are registered PCA members.

The Porsche Club of America features news, videos, and information about the current market for used Porsches in the monthly Mart Fresh News email newsletter.

The Mart is one of the most visited parts of PCA.org, recording over 650,000 page views per month. In addition to your online Mart ad, you get a summary version of your ad in Porsche Panorama.

Mart Fresh News also highlights a variety of Porsche listings from PCA’s Mart Classifieds. When you find a vehicle in The Mart, you can be assured that it’s been cared for by a registered PCA member — not some anonymous seller.

It’s a free benefit of membership — there is no charge to place an ad in The Mart!

PCA has 20 registries for those super enthusiastic about their Porsche model

The PCA Registry program was established in 1995 to encourage closer relationships within Porsche model owners in PCA. The program allows PCA members to network with others in their specific area of interest. Sharing of information fosters restoration and maintenance of members’ automobiles. A registry can potentially provide a new resource for historical displays at Parades and other PCA events, along with information for articles in Porsche Panorama. Don’t see a registry for your Porsche? We are also looking for individuals who are interested in starting a registry for a model that doesn’t have an existing registry.

Through the Ages now features the

New for 2025, the Porsche Club of America History Book contains an overview of the club’s history, followed by individual sections covering specific detailed items. Some sections were designed for use as standalone articles for region newsletters. Individual chapters and page numbers can be “clicked on” from the contents page. Major National Awards are also included.

What’s happening in the Porsche Market Place?

This 1977 911S Coupe was originally finished in Burgundy but has since been repainted in a beautiful shade of Oslo Blue and fitted with a fiberglass longhood, Carrera-style rear flares, and backdated metal bumpers. What really sets it apart, though, are the 911 R-style polycarbonate rear windows and a set of 16-inch Group 4 wheels.

Inside, the car features aftermarket Sport Seats trimmed in Black leather with Pepita inserts. It also includes RS-style door panels, a Numeric Racing shifter, and an aluminum footrest. Out back, there’s a replacement engine from a 1975 911, fitted with dual Zenith carburetors, an auxiliary oil cooler in the passengerside fender, an MSD 6A ignition controller, and a free-flow header paired with a modified sport exhaust.

We’ve seen this car before, as it sold for a final bid of $128,911 back in December 2024. Since then, the market for backdated G-bodies has remained fairly steady, with plenty of cars bringing strong money. This time around, though, our Spotlight car sold for a final bid of $93,500. Someone got a sweet deal on a sweet ride.
