WELCOME TO WERNING CATTLE COMPANY’S
45TH ANNUAL PRODUCTION SALE
Hello to all of you! What an unbelievable cattle market we are enjoying. I have been thinking about what my Dad would say if he was here now. I’m thinking one big market steer today would bring more than a whole load of market steers on our 1964 Ford truck. Hard to believe we made any money feeding cattle back in the 60’s and 70’s. We need to take advantage of this market with more live calves and more pay weight. We are offering proven Simmental, SimAngus and Angus genetics within this sale that will create more dollars for you short term and in the long term with maternally focused replacements.
We work diligently to ensure that we have the industry-leading genetics available every year for our customers to build their success around. We enjoy working with progressive cattle operations that believe in producing the best cattle in the world. We are passionate and dedicated to this cattle industry and are proud of our 45 years of unwavering commitment to quality and innovation. We have been blessed.
Werning Cattle Company has had the honor and privilege of creating some very elite herd sires over the years that have left their imprint on the Simmental breed. These genetic classics will continue to be utilized as long as there are cows. These W/C greats possess performance, maternal strength, structural soundness and oh so much more. We are extremely proud of what the good Lord has let us accomplish and we are happy he has more for us to do.
This year’s W/C bull crop will again create excitement that we get to enjoy and share with you. The yearling bulls will be many 1/2 , 3/4 and full brothers that sell in volume. You really need to see these guys to appreciate their length, depth, thickness and soundness. This will be our largest group of them- performance, muscle, disposition and off the charts EPD’s. This is a great set of genetic leaders that will do great things for the industry. The Age Advantage bulls are tremendous. Fall born bulls and 20-month-old bulls that are semen tested and ready to work. You won’t find them better anywhere.
We will also be sharing an amazing group of bred heifers with you folks. They are maternal factories with volume, power and presence ready to generate for their new owners. We are offering quality and quantity of reputation females bred to the world’s best sires. These elite ladies are worth the drive to Emery. Many are worthy of going into the donor pen.
Changes are coming in our beef yield grade system, and I believe we are ready with cattle that will benefit from the change. Experts believe beef carcass will be graded with 3-D imaging like CT scanning to more accurately reflect the true amount of muscle in a carcass. This would give more precise account of the true volume of meat in the chuck and round portions. We have always produced cattle with wide tops, big butts and a lot of guts.
NEW this year! We will be selling the frozen genetics the night before the live cattle will sell on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 6:00 PM. We are excited about this change and will also host a customer appreciation beef brisket supper that evening at 5:00 PM before the frozen genetic sale and is another way for us to say “Thank You” to all of you. After the meal we will be turning loose of over 100 embryos from our best donor cows and over 200 units of rare semen.
Some of you know that I have two brothers, Wayne and Mark. We are so sorry that both of their wives passed away this past year. We will forever remember Pam and Kathy. We keep them and their families in our thoughts and prayers.
We would like to thank our family, friends, and neighbors who help us in so many ways during the year and at sale time. We thank you for the trust you have in our ability to supply performance and maternal genetics for your herds. It is our privilege to serve the greatest beef producers in the world. We thank each and every one of you for your business, friendship, and trust. It takes special people to love this business – people that work with their hands and talk from their hearts. We welcome your visit to the ranch at any time. We take great pride in the W/C brand – truly the brand for results! We thank you for your interest in W/C genetics and invite any and all questions. We have a lot of great things happening here! Thanks for being a part of it!
Dale Werning Scott Werning
Predictability and quality have never been more valuable than they are today. The cow/calf producer has enjoyed unprecedented returns over the past 2 plus years, and the outlook is nothing but continued optimism for the foreseeable future. Across the industry, progressive firms are seeking high-quality, improved seedstock options and are continuing to turn towards reputable operations like the Werning Family of Emery, South Dakota.
The folks at Werning Cattle Company have been in the seedstock supplier game for five decades. Your thirst for the very best genetics and kind in a herd sire or a program revolutionizing female, drives them every day, 24-7-365! This multigenerational family operation knows no boundaries, and they are very experienced at exceeding the limits while raising the bar not only within their confines but also in the competitive industry. The edge they carry to be the best is evident in the success of the youthful third generation, the grandchildren, who excel at every level of competition in whatever they do. In today’s climate, that’s hard to come by in the world’s general population, but in the agricultural sector it’s a necessity for operations of any size or generation count to be viable and relevant for the years ahead.
Dale Werning exemplifies dedication and excellence in the livestock industry. His journey began in the early 1970s, when he attended South Dakota State University, joined the collegiate livestock judging team, and took his first steps toward becoming a visionary in the beef business. That same year marked a turning point for the industry with the birth of the first Simmentalinfluenced calf in the U.S. A decade later, the Werning Family hosted their first production sale, solidifying their reputation as leaders in the field. Their reputation reached national acclaim when the Champion Market Steer at the Ohio State Fair, exhibited by the Sutherly Family, showcased the superior influence of the Werning breeding program.
The 1980s were challenging for agriculturalists, with widespread droughts and soaring interest rates testing the resilience of farming and livestock operations nationwide. Yet Dale and his wife, Joan, persevered. Joan, a registered nurse, balanced her career while contributing tirelessly to the farm and ranch, ensuring their operation thrived during those tough years. Their perseverance paid off, and in 1989, the Werning Family was honored as South Dakota Cattlemen of the Year—a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality and genetic innovation. That same commitment thrives in the family and the program to this day.
In 2001, Werning Cattle Company earned recognition as the “birthplace” of the popular SimAngus genetic cross with the sale of the first SimAngus bull at public auction. This pivotal moment solidified their reputation for innovation and excellence. Over the years, their breeding program has remained profit-driven and customer-focused, consistently acquiring elite Angus females and influential bulls to meet the demands of an ever-evolving industry. Standout acquisitions such as S A V Blackcap May 4136D and S A V Blackcap May 6644 exemplify their commitment to building
a legacy of powerful cows for the future. Bulls like RFS Heavy Hitter H4, RSF Herald H104, TSN Statesman K006, and TJ Sandhills Swag 816L represent the firm’s ongoing pursuit of performance, maternal strength, and carcass quality without compromising phenotypic excellence.
Their dedication has produced influential cattle such as Miss Werning 534R, her renowned daughter Miss Werning KP 8543U, and standout bulls including W/C United 956Y, W/C Loaded Up 1119Y, W/C Bankroll 811D, and W/C Executive Order 8543B. These animals continue to enhance the pedigrees of their annual offering and have had a significant impact on the breed.
The Werning Family’s commitment to excellence spans generations. Scott and Ashley, along with their children Creighten and Thatcher, are carrying the torch with the same passion and vision that have defined their operation for decades. Scott, a former SDSU Livestock Judging Team member and recipient of *Cattle Business Weekly*’s “Top 20 Under 40,” is well-regarded for producing cattle with skeletal quality, structural integrity, and a balance of end-product and maternal focus. Creighten, a driven young man with big aspirations, is already leaving his mark. His influence is evident in the family’s selection of top-tier genetics, such as TJ Sandhills Swag 816L, furthering the Werning legacy. His role in the future of this operation is crucial, and his passion fits the mold of those who precede him in the leadership role for the brand.
This year’s offering of bulls and females is the densest and most impressive to date. The females, a source of immense pride for Dale, showcase unmatched maternal excellence. The bulls are stout, rugged, and designed to perform, representing some of the heaviest and most powerful herd sire prospects to carry the W/C mark of distinction. These animals are equipped to elevate seedstock programs and deliver exceptional results for both commercial and registered breeders. Within the pedigree ledgers of this sale offering there would be generations of excellence on both sides of the lineage and that is why so many of the respected breeders of SimGenetic seedstock make the appearance and investment the second Tuesday of February. Many past buyers have reported record-breaking success, achieving premium prices and enhanced profitability thanks to the genetic potential of W/C cattle.
Mark your calendar for February 9 and 10, 2026—your opportunity to invest in the future of your breeding program with one of the industry’s most respected operations. Voted “The Best Beef Operation in the U.S.” by Sullivan Supply in both 2023 and 2025, the Werning Cattle Company stands behind every animal it produces and is committed to your success.
We encourage you to contact the Werning Family or any member of the Innovation AgMarketing team for more information about this year’s exceptional offering. Join us at the climatecontrolled sale facility at the ranch to experience outstanding Southeast South Dakota hospitality, including dinner Monday night prior to the frozen genetic offering. Plan to enjoy lunch and dinner before and after the unparalleled offering of seedstock on Tuesday.

INDUSTRY LEADING GROWTH FROM HEAVY HITTER AND HERALD
• Heavy Hitter and Herald are Full Brothers
• Both bulls rank high within the breed for WW, YW, REA, & ADG
• Both bulls only used exclusively by the owners, NO SEMEN was offered to the public!
• They come from a sensational Remington Lock N Load 54U Dam
• Heavy Hitter is currently the #1 Sire in the breed for Weaning Weight!
In a never-ending pursuit to try and create the most ideal and profitable bull product for our commercial customers we came across these two studs and knew they needed to make their way to Emery, SD! Both bulls rank high for the important economical traits vital to improving our customers bottom line and do it in an impressive physical package. We have been fortunate to breed and/or own some of the greatest growth bulls in the breed and these two are next in line. We feel the sons of these sires will

W/C HEAVY HITTER 65N
LOT 1
An impressive beast of a bull to lead this large and incredible sire group that is double bred for growth. 65N is loaded with thickness from end to end with that extra size and length that sets him apart. He is the #1 YW bull in the sale and the #3 REA bull among the natural calves. W/C Miss Werning 65D records a 116 nursing ratio and is the dam of the 2000 top selling bull W/C Revolution 65G to Windy Creek. Another son was a standout going to Dan Kopf in Nebraska in 2023. 65D has built her resume with all natural calves up to this point as we will get her first embryo calves born here in 2026. A full sister sells as lot 209 and another is retained in the herd. As much shape and depth as we can make and the kind of bull to quickly impact a set of calves and the herd he is used in. Herd bull look with herd bull figures!
W/C HEAVY HITTER 02N
LOT 2
A true beef bull from every angle with added rib shape and capacity. He supports a great set of data with nine traits in the top 20% of the breed. He comes from the great 534R cow family that in responsible for much of the success of the W/C program. 534R is the grandam of the lot 1 bull as well and you will find her in pedigrees throughout this catalog as she was in production until 15 years of age and has 241 progeny recorded. Over 100 sons are working for top commercial and registered operations throughout the lower 48 states. This is the kind of bull built to keep the peddle down in the right direction for any progressive cattle operation.
A real phenotypic standout who offers incredible look and muscle with added length. His mother just had another full sib to this bull and is still in production with a perfect udder and feet at 11 years old. We have decided to enter her into our embryo program and she was our favorite heifer calf in that 2015 calf crop. 509C has another standout son selling as lot 85. This bull is sure to have some friends on February 10th.
W/C HEAVY HITTER 0127N
LOT 4
There is just so much we love about this bull. He packs 7 traits in the top 25% of the breed and has the W/C look of quality we strive for. This bull is attractive, muscular, and athletic. Anyone who follows our program will tell you that this cow family is one of our key building blocks. 036X and K36U are responsible for injecting so much longevity and quality into our program. Both cows produced natural calves until 14 years of age and were top donor cows. The daughters of these two key players are now carrying the torch. This bull’s W/C Bankroll sired dam is one beautiful cow and we are lucky enough to have a whole flush of them retained in the herd
W/C HEAVY HITTER 119N
LOT 5
Another studly blady bull that does it on paper and in the pen with 7 traits in the top 10% of the Simmental population. He too comes from a top producing donor cow that produced the lead off bull in the 2024 sale that was sired by Herald making this bull a genetic full sibling. 793E has 40 progeny recorded with multiple sale features in the past couple years.
W/C HERALD 1149N
LOT 6
A full brother to the $18,000 W/C Midway that was Reck Brothers selection of the 2023 sale and a full sister commanded $12,500 to Paxton Cattle in the 2024 sale. Another full brother sold last year to Travis Balvin’s good herd. His mother continues to produce tremendous offspring no matter the sire. She herself is a full sister to the great W/C Executive Order who was the most widely used 3/4 blood bulls to date. Have a little fun and see if you can spot her three other sons that lead three other sire groups. It doesn’t stop there, check out the four full sisters that sell as lot’s 214 –217. They are simply stunning. This bull is so good physically and may be her best yet. Oh and it keeps getting better, 1149N is the top REA bull in the sale at nearly 19 inches and still ranks in the top 10 for IMF, not an easy thing to do. As you can tell we like this guy and he has a lot of good things going for him.
ONE OF THE BEST EVER OFFERED AT W/C!
Wow what a set of flush brothers! 964G cranks out another set of ET sons to highlight another W/C sale! 964G is starting to become a household name and has yet to fail us no matter the sire we have used. She has lit it up with sons by Right Now, W/C Kaiser, Statesman, Journeyman, and now its Heavy Hitter’s turn. 964G has over 20 sons working the country including many to notable breeders as Yardley’s, Pembrook’s, Reck’s, and Hilltop Simmentals. Lot 7 may be as intriguing of an individual as we have made in some time. His ability to appeal to a wide range of cattlemen and markets is very evident to us. He has been a standout at every stage of his life and had the look from day one. We are excited about his future and invite your inquiries.

IMPRESSIVE FLUSH BROTHERS FROM A
TIME-TESTED DAM!
It seems to be a popular thing to do today among some breeders today to flush the hot new heifer that has never even had a calf yet. We have been guilty of that at times as well but have made a conscious effort to identify and propagate the “Good Old Cows” who have withstood the test of time and built their resume’s the old-fashioned way with superior production records. Cows that have proven to stay good on their feet and keep a quality udder. 5014C is one of those cows and is a 2015 born model. Her very first natural calf was W/C Double Down who commanded $105,000 in our 2018 sale. This set of four brothers are impressive and peas in a pod. All are extremely muscular and stout, and you get to pick if you want them solid black or with white on their face. Lot 14 has been a great conversation piece as you will notice he has cauliflower ear. He was born with normal ears, but the bulls got to wrestling around on one of those first cold nights and they have been this way ever since, awesome bull though. Big time beef bulls that are worth the trip to Emery!

W/C HEAVY HITTER 1020N
A purebred baldy bull who really reads well on paper with 10 traits in the top 25% of the population. If you want to select a Heavy Hitter son with a smaller birthweight and more calving ease you will have this bull marked. He is from a super good young triple threat daughter that produced one of the best bred heifers in the 2023 calf crop who we are now flushing extensively.
A super complete baldy bull cut from the same cloth as lot 16 with a very modest birthweight and an awesome phenotype. This bull should develop into one very impressive mature bull and front pasture kind. His dam is very powerful and stays in very good rig all year round. A bull to make those feeder steers that stick out and replacement females that command a premium.
Check out this pedigree! He has Heavy Hitter and Herald on top and bottom. Then throw in two of the most potent cow families in the beef business in SAV Blackcap May and Miss Werning 534R. His sire was a member of that incredible Heavy Hitter x SAV Blackcap May 4136D flush we sold in 2024 and is owned by Cully Stafford in Oregon. This bull blends the best of both breeds.
W/C HEAVY HITTER 109N
A pasture favorite all summer and another that I think will have a bunch of friends on sale day. He is impressive on paper and in the flesh. He’s backed by an awesome W/C Bankroll dam who is one of our favorite young cows and an impressive Angus grandam that stayed in the herd well into double digits. He’s the #6 bull for WW among the natural calves and ranks in the top 20 for both REA and IMF. A tremendous set of figures backed by a stout phenotype make this bull a candidate for the most particular cattleman.
W/C HEAVY HITTER 766N
This baldy bull is absolutely ripped with muscle and stoutness. His W/C Bullseye dam always brings in a good one. A big weaning weight bull who as we expected scanned a big REA. The kind of bull to stamp a calf crop and probably will sire a lot of white faces.
W/C HEAVY HITTER 1056N
Top 1% growth genetics from a pedigree filled with some of the best we have to offer. His dam is one of our brightest young stars who produced W/C Total Package who sold for $19,500 interest to Western Cattle Source and is the service sire to many of the bred heifers in this sale and he will be on display sale day. When we combine Heavy Hitter with SAV and 534R genetics good things happen. Seven traits in the top 5% of the breed! This bull ranks high on our list.
W/C HEAVY HITTER 8436N
A real rancher’s bull with extra frame and length. This brockle faced bull has the extra extension to stretch out a set of English based cows and add payweight.
W/C HEAVY HITTER N574
Check out this set of data! A negative BW all the way to 137+ at yearling weight. This bull can read and write, and it comes as no surprise coming from his outstanding W/C Lock Down dam. Lock Down naturally bred cows until he was 12 years old. He was one of our greatest breeding achievements. This bull comes highly recommended.
Top 2% for WW and YW, Top 1% for REA, YG, & BF. His Lock N Load dam has extra frame and performance. The kind of bull to quickly enhance a calf crop and allow you to sell more pounds on sale day. He’s got the numbers, he’s got the W/C look! One that can make an impact!
STOUT UNIFORM CONSISTENT
A trio of 3/4 Simmental 1/4 Angus bulls all bred very similar from Bullseye and Lock N Load Dams. All carry nice balanced EPD Profiles and exhibit great muscle shape with added eye appeal. They are the kind to make your calves stick out from the crowd and make buyers pay attention. The kind that keep buyers wanting them again the following year. A great place to consider if you want to tie some brothers together that look and read similar.

A royal flush of full brothers who have royalty deep throughout their pedigree. They are bred for performance and SimAngus perfection. We have loved the results we have gotten blending our W/C Simmental cattle with the performance Angus genetics from SAV. After seeing the results year after year it pushed us to make a move to bring SAV Blackcap May 4136D and SAV Blackcap May 6644 to Emery. SAV America is the world record selling $1 Million dollar bull. Lot 27 ranks in the very tippy top of the breed for growth. He is the #1 3/4 Simmental bull to sell this season for WW and YW EPD’s. This is an exceptional flush of brothers that have size, length, thickness, and tremendous muscle.

In conversations with our customers and talking to producers, some have expressed that the number of half-blood SimAngus bulls available in the market place is not what it used to be. A typical Heavy Hitter ready to inject length, muscle, and breed leading growth to your next calf crop. His dam has a great udder and has done a great job. His mother is another blend of our good proven Angus cows and SAV Raindance. K36U had a profound impact on our herd and continues that today with over 100 progeny and grand progeny in our herd. This guy puts 5 traits in the top 10% of the population.
W/C HEAVY HITTER 8051N
LOT 35
8051N just kind of does it all! Strong actual weights and backs it up on paper with stellar EPD’s ranking in the top 2% of the breed for WW & YW. His dam is the ideal Angus cow and is backed by an Angus Pathfinder cow in 9703. This is the prototype SimAngus bull in our opinion. A full brother sold to our friend Geff Carstens from Bryant, SD last year. The kind we like to offer in volume in Emery, SD!
W/C HEAVY HITTER 1050N
LOT 36
A brilliant blend of data, powerful phenotype, and predictable pedigree. He is double stacked for growth being from a top young W/C Revolution dam who excels for length, rib shape, and udder quality. This bull is so long, smooth and athletic. He is a full brother to the Lot 2 bull last year going to our good friend Thomas Olson at Estherville, Iowa. Top 1% growth genetics never looked so good!
982N is an absolute truck! He is so long, thick, and deep. All these physical traits lined up to make him one of the heaviest weaning weight bulls who scanned a huge REA making him the #2 REA bull among the natural calves. He is sired by a top Heavy Hitter x SAV Blackcap May 4136D son that sold to our friend Adam Wright by Turton SD. He is backed by a good Right Now dam. We absolutely loved our Right Now cattle and as you will notice we went back to using him as there is an incredible sire group of those coming down the line in this catalog.

LOT 38
Five traits in the top 5% of the breed! This bull reads good on paper and is a ringer in the pen. A big yearling weight bull that can make those scale crushing feeder cattle or front-end type of replacements. Not sure where we found this good Angus cow? I guess we are going to see if he actually reads the catalog or just shows up to call the numbers. Really good beef bull here and to top it off his full brother sold to Schnabel Land & Cattle of Tripp, SD last year. I think Craig Schnabel and the Colonel Carter may have hung out a little bit during their time at SDSU and I’m certain they didn’t get into any mischief.
RFS HEAVY HITTER H45 - ASA TRAIT LEADER FOR WEANING WEIGHT!
W/C HEAVY HITTER 170N
LOT 39
A solid blaze faced bull here that puts seven traits in the top 25% of the breed. We love his powerful phenotype and extra body capacity. His dam has the ideal udder and phenotype we look for. A full brother sold to the Edwards Family in Utah in last year’s sale. An awesome option to make market topping feeder cattle and very front-end type of replacements.
W/C HEAVY HITTER 9183N
LOT 40
If you’re searching for that top end growth yet still want a set of heifers to make good cows with this bull can fit that bill. He is under 1 on birth and really spreads up to weaning and yearling. His dam is super good uddered and easy fleshing. A Heavy Hitter 059 son that puts a very solid set of data together and also has SAV Blackcap May 4136 in his pedigree. We love his low birth and high API numbers for the amount of growth he has. He topped it all off by being the #5 REA bull!
The natural born calf from one whale of a Red Angus cow! His dam was a past $58,000 bred heifer we sold and has really hit her stride now as a donor cow. She is the mother of the Reserve Champion Percentage Red Angus Female at Jr Nationals this past summer. This bull is one stout and dense rascal backed by one of most awesome Red Angus cows you will lay your eyes on.
Lots of good stuff injected into this 4163N bull. To start off his dam is coming 12 years old and will calve again this spring. On paper we love his blend of high CE, low BW, and up to 127 pounds of YW EPD. It doesn’t stop there he reads as a true outlier in terms of his carcass ultrasound as he was a very low backfat bull that at the same time ranks 3rd for IMF, a feat not commonly found.
Double digit calving ease and negative birth weight to 150 YW EPD! This bull really spreads a phenomenal set of numbers. Our good friend Miles Shout at Express Ranches picked us out a few open heifers that year and man have they been good. This cow stays fat all year and has a picture-perfect udder. This one checks a lot of the boxes!
EPD s VS . ADJUSTED/ACTUAL WEIGHTS
We often get asked the question of what we consider most important - weights or EPDs? In our opinion, adjusted and actual weights can vary greatly between herds. Management practices, diet energy levels, and breeder integrity can greatly affect adjusted weights. Therefore, EPDs become a more reliable tool to compare cattle raised in different herds and environments.
All Simmental and Angus bulls selling in this sale are DNA tested. The EPDs printed in this catalog are genomically enhanced.
When you buy W/C bulls you immediately brand your cattle in the marketplace. W/C sired feeder cattle have earned a reputation for being fast growing, high conversion, and high choice. We will help promote your cattle through our relationships with feed yards, order buyers, and local auction barns. You are here for us on our sale day, we want to support you on your sale day!
A SENSATIONAL SIMANGUS TM
Each year we sit back and discuss what we need to do to make a better product for our customers to utilize. In the Spring of 2022 we made a major investment in the most influential Angus cow family in the world. We would like to thank Kelly Schaff and Kent McCune for helping us make this dream come true with the private treaty purchase of SAV Blackcap May 4136D and SAV Blackcap May 6644. I can still remember the day I saw 4136 at TransOva Yackley Division and I thought she was the best cow I had ever seen. She was just a young cow then and after that she went on to become the most influential and high-income generating cow in the beef business. She went on to produce the world record breaking flush of bulls SAV President, SAV Raindance, and SAV Rainfall. We have used all three of these bulls in our program with much success. You will notice many bulls in this sale from daughters of these bulls. SAV Blackcap May 6644 is the “one of a kind” flushmate sister to that flush of bulls and went on to be the top yearling weight heifer of that SAV calf crop. 6644 has 23 daughters retained in the SAV herd and 166 progeny have sold at SAV for a $13,613 average. She most notably produced SAV Panther, the 2022 $350,000 SAV top seller. The flushmate sisters to these bulls will highly impact our program going forward. These cattle are better than we had ever imagined! The shear mass and density they consistently exhibit is like nothing we have seen before. This is the second crop of this same flush mating from our 2024 sale going to Tim Wilken, Adam Wright, Heim Ranch, and Cully Stafford. Two full sisters to these bulls stole the bred heifer show last year commanding $40,000 to River Creek in Kansas and $38,000 1/2 interest to King Cattle Co in Indiana. Pick out your favorite and let him positively impact your herd.

We love it when a plan comes together! We rarely will ever have the need or desire to purchase Simmental females to bring into this operation but if we do, we do it with a plan and conviction. Chris Nicholson at Lazy C Diamond Ranch made it pretty evident he was cutting loose of some of his very top end open heifers as they transitioned to a fall sale. We could not wait to get these two females mated up to Statesman and wow did it work! When we saw Chris flushed the $200,000 C4 for to W/C Need 4 Speed we were immediately drawn in. W/C Need4Speed was one of the most physically impressive bulls we have ever sold and commanded $60,000 to Hilbrands. This bull physically reminds us so much of Need4Speed. Lot 50 will be one of most incredible combinations of data, EPD profile and physical quality to sell anywhere in the country this year. On paper he’s got it all from low birth to solid growth and combines it with stayability and carcass merit. Very few Purebred bulls can match his EPD profile in the ASA database. Then couple that with the fact he is one easy stud to find in the pen. He’s got good big feet, extra bone, expressive muscle, and tremendous hair. Physically he’s been a standout since birth and then throw in that he is the #1 IMF bull in the sale make him one very valuable and intriguing breeding piece to us. Get him bought and let’s have some fun making the next generation of great Simmental cattle!
ALL THE BOXES HE CHECKS
W/C STATESMAN 2017N
Lot 51 will be one of the biggest spread Purebred Simmental bulls to sell this sale season. He is the only Purebred yearling bull in the ASA database that combines a negative BW with over 110 pounds of weaning weight EPD! Study his overall EPD profile and there will be few that can compare. Couple that with his physical quality and presence makes this dude one special individual. He’s attractive, square built, and stout. He checked another box on his carcass ultrasound having a big REA while ranking 4th for IMF. The excitement and interest in TSN Statesman has been off the charts and for all the right reasons. Statesman semen is not on the open market and averaged over $400/unit is last year’s sale making these sons even intriguing not just from a cattle breeding standpoint but also and investment standpoint. A bull that jumped through all the hoops at every measurement and physical evaluation. You no longer have to choose between EPD profile and physical quality, these Statesman sons are living proof!
This guy really pushes the envelope for what is possible. A phenomenal physical specimen with tremendous figures. Low birth, high growth, and carcass he’s hard not to love. His W/C Bankroll x SAV Blackcap May 6644 dam is one impressive bovine. You will start to notice the impact that the Blackcap May daughters are going to make on our program and we are very excited about the future. This bull is the real deal with a pedigree filled with all the good stuff.

LOT 53
One cool dude with big league figures and another Statesman son with the $200,000 C4 donor as his maternal grandam. His dam was a past featured ½ interest bred heifer that sold for $18,000 to the Mayor of Blakesburg, Iowa Mr. Brandon Reck. Cheryl at the gas station in Blakesburg told me she thought it would be a very tight Mayor race next year between Scott Sandeen, Kendall Bremer, and Brandon Reck. Either way Blakesburg is in good hands! A 3/4 brother to the lot 50 bull as both share C4 on their bottom side. His full sister is a must see and sells as lot 247, she’s the current #5 non-parent female in the breed for API. For a negative BW bull to have this much foot and bone is very impressive to us. A cutting edge EPD profile and physical quality make this bull another sale attraction.
Some of you will really find this pedigree interesting as this bull is out of a W/C Relentless x Dakota D13 dam. His dam is a past show heifer for the kids who was a $30,000 selection from Schaeffer who went on to be Champion Simmental Female at the SD State Fair for Creighten. We call her Princess and we love her. She is bred back to have a full sib to this bull again. A nice set of figures and some extra frame found in this Statesman son.
PEDIGREE BELOW IS FOR LOTS 55 & 56
Statesman sons from the great SAV Blackcap May 6644! 6644 was the lone heifer calf born in the world record selling flush of bulls at SAV that included SAV Rainfall, SAV Raindance, and SAV Governor. 6644 was also the highest yearling weight heifer of her crop at SAV. She has 23 daughters retained in the heard and 166 total progeny at SAV. As you would expect these guys are true powerhouses in every sense of the word. They are impressive on paper and in the pen. They really spread the numbers from birth to weaning and to yearling weight. They both scanned big ribeye’s with some of the highest IMF scores in the group. We wish 56 acted better so full disclosure on him, he will need to go somewhere where they know how to handle him. A big-time pair of beef bulls that cover all the bases for performance, maternal, and carcass.
These next three Statesman sons are peas in a pod and really cover all the bases for improving beef production at the highest level. They have incredible EPD profiles with big spread. They all scanned very well for IMF with the top two natural calves for marbling within this trio. Check the cows behind this group such as SAV Blackcap May 4136 and Hazel K36U. Performance with maternal, carcass, and a flawless cowboy look. Bulls that can keep your herd on the forefront of the beef business with cutting edge genetics that excel for a multitude of traits.

THE EXCITING FIRST CROP BY SWAG!
We have been patiently waiting, or maybe I should say impatiently for this day to come! We offer you the exciting first crop by the 2024 Triangle J top seller TJ Sandhills Swag. A bull who stuck out in a large contemporary group and was sought after by a wide range of top end breeders. He combines the numbers we want with the ELITE phenotype we DEMAND. A SALE ATTRACTION!
AN ABSOLUTE BEAST!
A pen favorite and pasture standout all summer. I am confidant we have not offered a bigger bodied, bolder sprung purebred bull here at W/C in 45 years! Everyone finds him and everyone asks about him. His powerful dam has built quite a resume and just keeps getting better with age. She is the dam of past sale highlight, W/C Midway and the impressive lot 5 bull in this sale. However, if you want a real treat go check out her daughter’s selling as bred heifers in this sale. 6105D is also the dam of the $170,000 top selling female at Bruhn’s sale this fall that was purchased as an embryo from us. 34N is a big weaning weight bull that is #2 for IMF and #7 for REA. If you want to make better bodied Simmental cattle with more flesh & power you have found your next herd sire.
BIG TIME
HERD BULL CREDENTIALS!
A seriously stout and we mean stout pair of brothers backed by the $200,000 WS Sugar C4 cow. Their dam, Halo is one of many C4 daughters we have collected here to bring you elite genetic packages like these two. Halo ratioed 205 for IMF making her the number one heifer of her calf crop that year. Two Halo daughters by RFS Herald sold to River Creek Farms and Ruby Cattle Co in our 2023 sale. This duo of brothers really puts is all together. We love their bold phenotype while being ripped with muscle and a very good set of numbers. If you’re searching for that next herd sire with numbers, phenotype, and from a storied cow family you have accomplished your mission in these two brothers.
W/C RIGHT NOW 236N
A pen favorite with growth figures right near the tippy top. A bull who is easy to look at and will no doubt increase pay weight in even the most performance driven herd. He is exactly what we expect when we cross Right Now with Heavy Hitter and Hazel. This guy has the good stuff stacked deep in his pedigree. He’s what we are after at the W/C and wow what a set of data!
W/C RIGHT NOW 7397N
A smooth made half blood Right Now son here and one of our favorite phenotype bulls in the sale. A definite heifer bull prospect that is hard to poke a hole in. If you want a front pasture bull that’s fun to look at everyday and will leave you a set of replacements to keep you in business, we have your bull. He’s more than a pretty face, he’s got real stoutness and his steers calves will be very top end as well.
133N is a big spread bull that is negative on birth up to 120 on his YW EPD. He hails from one of the best Dream Catcher daughters we ever had in the 9002 cow who we didn’t flush until she was ten years old. She kept good feet and udder until she was well past her prime. A very complete bull on paper and in the pen. He scanned well for both IMF and REA and will make stout steer calves or very elite replacement female stock.
ANOTHER EXCITING HERD BULL BY 964G
This bull is a full brother to the bull who started it off for this famous donor cow. Her first calf was a Right Now son who sold for $20,000 to Wade Horstman of Parkston, SD. This bull is easy to find and has been a favorite among early visitors. He’s fun to look at being big bodied, smooth, and athletic. Another heifer bull prosect who packs a punch from an elite cow family. He represents much of what we are trying to do at W/C. An exciting herd bull prospect who is sure to have friends on February 10th!

W/C REVOLUTION 1588N
LOT 77
Another big-time herd bull from 964G! He’s big, he’s long, and he’s not for the weak. As you would expect he’s one of the highest weaning and yearling weight bulls in the offering along with the genomically enhanced EPD’s that back it up. One of the highest valued performance driven bulls in the sale bred for power from both sides of his pedigree. If you ready to take your performance and growth up a notch this is one that will rank high on your list. NINE traits in the top 5% of the entire breed! One that we think a lot of and a growth outlier. This bull is a true powerhouse in every sense.
W/C AUTHORITY 70132N
LOT 78
Authority is a top Revolution son who we are using hard within the herd and will be getting a large number of calves by him in 2026. Authority is one impressive individual and a favorite among visitors. This bull looks a lot like daddy and had a nice performance driven set of EPD’s.

W/C DABO 703J
$100,000 FULL BROTHER TO LOTS 79 & 80
A real stud muffin! One that ranks very high on our list for being just flat good, complete, and performance driven. Another growth standout from one of the very best young females at the W/C and is the dam of lots 81–84 in this sale. Her three sons by Journeyman are on the next page. A big weaning and yearling weight bull that screams growth and quality. One of the very best powerhouse bulls in this sale.
A pair of studs that are the result of another highly proven mating. They are full brothers to the 2022 top selling W/C Dabo that sold to Windy Creek and another full brother sold for $18,000 to the Resolution group that same year. These brothers have the ability to compliment a wide variety of cow bases to add value to the next generation. Check out their popular donor dam and her beautiful daughters selling in the female division. They are truly a testament to the breeding potency of this cow family. 6175D has now surpassed $1 million in progeny sales and adds substantially to that with every calf crop. One of the key cow families at the W/C with much influence within this catalog.
TURNPIKE 9047N
JOURNEYMAN SONS FROM ONE OF OUR BEST YOUNG COWS
The 2312K cow is one of the most perfectly built performance driven young cows in the herd. We love her combination of build and power. The Journeyman cattle have been very well received. They are cattle that have real muscle and get better everyday of their life. They are consistently some of our favorite bulls to deliver come May. These bulls will be studs come turnout time and make for a lot of smiles when they jump off the trailer.
W/C JOURNEYMAN 603N
A “no holes” kind of bull that really blends all the good stuff we are trying to stack into pedigrees. A performance driven herd sire prospect with good numbers, solid growth, and comes from one of the really good cows in the breed. Another great one from 6105D. She has stud sons by three different sires in this sale and her daughters highlight the bred heifer division.
W/C JOURNEYMAN 8909N
LOT 86
Another Journeyman son from a time-tested cow. 509C just calved at 11 years of age. She was the top heifer of the 2015 calf crop and is near perfect in her phenotype. She has been one of our favorite cows in the herd for quite some time now. 627N is loaded with look and quality as you can tell by his photo. He has look, body, and muscle. This bull comes highly recommended to those of you who demand a look and presence in your cattle.
More sons of the 6175D in these next six bulls. They are full brothers to the $29,000 W/C Tradesman who sold in the 2024 sale to Wheatland in Canada. They are also full sibs to the fab five group of bred heifers that stole the show in the female division last year. They were so consistent and good. 6175D has over 40 sons working in the country for top commercial and purebred outfits.

We have sold some incredible full sisters to this bull over the years, but she is highlighting the bull offering on this go round. This bull is from an awesome Basin Payweight Angus dam who had a good Heavy Hitter son in the sale last year that sold to Eric Fiegen. 7036N combines moderate birth, high WW, and a big REA into a good-looking package for any progressive producer to utilize. We love crossing our W/C Simmental cattle on good Angus pedigrees, the results have proven time and time again. He’s got muscle, cow power, and reads well on paper.

W/C TOTAL PACKAGE 3119N
A SimAngus bull from one of the most influential Angus cow families in the business, The Proven Queen family. Proven Queen 419 is responsible for a large number of champions and high sellers in the Angus circles. His dam, 3119 is one impressive cow that’s loaded with mass and quality. An awesome SimAngus pedigree that can only be found in Emery.
W/C LEOPOLD 307N
A real cow maker and no doubt he’s a sleep all night, make every ball game kind of a heifer bull. He has extra rib shape and comes from a very maternally inspired cow with a perfect udder. He still ranks in the top 25% of the breed for WW & YW while bringing a lot of marbling as well. Get all those high value virgin heifers bred with this dude and then keep all those daughters if you can.
KEEPER
The #2 weaning weight bull among the natural calves. More top 1% growth genetics from a top growth cow family who is no stranger to making elite performance enhanced herd bulls. Her very first calf by Right Now was one of the top selling bulls going to Craig & Chad Muntefering of Parkston, they have earned the reputation of having one of the very top programs in the area and sold an incredible load of 8 weight steers in December at Mitchell.
A performance and growth standout that’s easy to find in the pen. He’s the #3 weaning weight bull among the natural calves and was the #8 yearling weight bull with a big REA. It comes as no surprise as he is out of a W/C United 2016 model dam. W/C United set the standard in the breed for weaning weight and performance. He was the top bull in the breed for growth for many years and will go down as one of all time most used SimAngus bulls with over 6000 progeny recorded. A true standout and pasture favorite all summer. 042N was identified early on as a very special looking individual with extra power and substance. He’s hard not to like and packs a punch. He gets even more impressive as you study his paper, he started small, got big at weaning and scanned a huge ribeye. As you can tell he’s one of our favorites and comes highly recommended to our most critical customers.

Another top performance Keeper son from one of the very best Angus cows on the place. This bull put a very good set of data together and blends in some very potent Angus genetics. This bull comes highly recommended for his ability to make fast growing feedlot cattle and/or elite replacements. He does it on paper too with seven traits in the top 20% of the population.
One cool dude! We love this baldy bull’s look and quality. His dam has done a great job and this bull should really develop into a front pasture kind of herd bull. He’s got the extra look, muscle shape, and good hair that makes him stand out. A bull like this can work in a number of different scenarios to make the next generation better.

A real looker who has been a favorite all along. He is so striking about his design and build from an awesome first calf heifer. His attitude is less than desirable but I bet he gets them all bred. An absolute stud from a past $80,000 valuation top selling bred heifer to Ferguson’s. On paper this bull did it all and looks just like we want them to only there is one little problem. He has yet to match to a sire on his DNA, he has matched to his impressive dam and we will continue to try alternate sires up until sale day. Either way he’s an incredible bull and will sell regardless as someone is going to buy a very high-end beef bull.
THE AGE ADVANTAGE DIVISION
We pride ourselves in being one of the only places in America to offer coming two-year-old Simmental bulls. They have been developed slowly on a high roughage – low calorie diet to ensure years of heavy use for you the end user. We are culling on these bulls all summer and fall, the ones that passed all the tests are here for your appraisal. They are semen checked and ready to go. If you want more bull for your buck, you have found the right place!
W/C MARKSMAN 7021M
Not only is this bull a true sale feature but will certainly be one of the best strong aged bulls available for sale in the country. Opportunities like this don’t come around often and we pride ourselves on transparency here at the W/C so here’s the story with this bull. He was the top selling bull in last year’s sale to our friend Chuck Magill in North Dakota. Chuck breeds early and needed a bull and semen quickly. He was not freezing semen at the bull stud when he needed it so we allowed Chuck to go a different route and we kept this bull here. He was impressive as a yearling and has only gotten better. Physically he’s got all the bells & whistles. He’s stout, attractive, heavy muscled, and has great feet & legs. We have had semen inquiries but decided to let the new buyer determine if they wanted to sell semen on him and at what price. Purebreds built like this and with an outcross pedigree are a rare find. We are big fans of this guy. A real sale attraction and must see!

Lot 134 is a full brother to one of the best age advantage bulls we sold last year to Shady Oaks Farms in Texas for $16,000. This is one of the coolest looking and most attractive bulls in the entire offering. We love the attractiveness of his head & neck. He’s much more than a pretty face, 0256M opened up with width and tremendous muscle expression. His SAV Brilliance sired Angus dam is outstanding. A keep every daughter kind of bull.
MR W/C GOOD TIMES 17M
17M is sired by the very popular Angus sire Good Times out of an up-and-coming donor cow we own with Andrew Barker in Ohio. We liked this bull so much we bred her back the same way and she had a little sister to this bull that sold for $20,000 in Will Coor’s show heifer sale. If you like them really athletic and demand really good hair this bull has got it. His Bankroll sired dam is one of our most promising donors going forward.
W/C NEXT LEVEL 13M
This mating has been working very sell for us and we have enjoyed many full sibling to the embryo bull. Creighten showed a full brother to him and he was named Reserve Champion Purebred Bull at the 2024 AJSA National Classic. The two full sisters in the bred heifer offering will highlight this event and are a must see as lots 222 & 223. His dam is one of the very few full sisters to the famous W/C Bankroll 811D.
The dam of this bull is the $57,000 1/2 interest bred heifer selection of Cole & Talli Jackson from Minnesota. She had three Journeyman sons in the sale last year that averaged just shy of $14,000 and she is the dam of lots 121, 226, & 227 in this year’s sale. Outcross red genetics from two incredible black red carrier parents make this bull a special treat for our red customers. An incredible opportunity to buy a red baldy maternal brother so many influential black bulls like Bankroll, Relentless, Night Watch, and Executive Order. He has been a standout from day one. Physically this red hided baldy puts it all together. He’s so wide bodied and bold while being good in his design and has a real herd bull presence. He’s a perfect blend of his two influential parents and we needed just a tad bit of luck for him to come out a red baldy. Yet another big-time herd sire prospect from 8543U and this may be her best Red one yet. A real sale highlight on February 10th.

We had heard of an Angus bull that was selling in Idaho that was supposed to be very good from our good friend Matt Macfarlane. After the dust settled he sold for $400,000 and the quest for some semen to flush cows with was on. These Grant sons are very consistent and peas in a pod. They are very similar to the Glacier bulls ahead of them. They have top, butt, and guts. “W/C Miss Werning 652D was Cate and I’s first purchase together from the W/C program. It was our first year of marriage, first year of coaching NJC, and we lived in a little tiny house on 5th street in Sterling, Colorado. Cate had a long list of breds she’d like us to buy and those all went on to be high sellers on a tremendous day for the Werning’s. Colby Taber was there bidding for me and said, “man I know she’s not on your list, but this one is your speed”. I rubbed two nickels together and got her bought. I went to pick her up and Dale said, “Young man, I am not sure how you got this one bought for so cheap, but you have the buy of the sale”. He may not remember that or even the heifer, but she has changed the entire trajectory of how we breed cattle. Sons have topped sales and been featured by ABS. Daughters are tremendous producers. She stems from the great young dam, W/C Miss Werning 975G, Dr. Karl & Nicole Neeser of Red Wing, Minnesota selected out of the 2021 production for $23,000. 975G was carrying the great MR W/C Trifecta 975J at the time of purchase and he went on to sell for $47,500 to Western Cattle Source of Nebraska. Sired by product of the program W/C VIP 005G and carrying a W/C Night Watch 84E heifer calf, 3171L could be the next Werning success story we tell!
W/C SUSANNA 4202M
Some would say this pedigree is “old school cool” or some would say “if it’s not broke don’t fix it.” We will let you be the decision maker there, but the fact is two of the most prominent influences in this sale book are Remington Lock N Load 54U and DW Susanna 763T. Lucky for you, W/C Susanna 4202 has BOTH of those icons on the first line of her pedigree. 763T and her daughters have left a tremendous impact not just here in Emery, but their offspring is dispersed to purebred and commercial cowmen alike. The “Lock N Load” daughters simply speak for themselves. The opportunity for your own cornerstone female lies here!
S A V Blackcap May 6644 does it again with this W/C Bankroll 811D daughter. We’re continually impressed with 6644, who is full sister to icons like S A V President 6847, S A V Rainfall 6546 and S A V Raindance 6848. In her tour at Schaff Angus Valley she had over 160 direct descendants sold from the auction block for an average of $13,387, including the $350,000 SAV Panther 1906. This pedigree aligns the $10 million+ producing S A V Blackcap May 6644 and the $8 million+ Miss Werning KP 8543U…the best of the beef business females are right here!
W/C MISS WERNING 4204M
This big bodied, broody quarter-blood Simmental female is destined to be a pillar in your program. She is sired by a great PVF Insight 265K son that is backed by the mainstay matron, DW Susanna 763T. This mating has produced some of the highquality Angus females to roam Werning Cattle Company. 4204M dam’s is a past bred heifer highlight that has turned into a tremendous front pasture kind type cow. The deep sided, easy fleshing female will be one you’ll be excited to see what she brings to weaning pen each year.
MISS WERNING 4203M
Angus enthusiasts gather ‘round for an incredible pair of females! Allow us to introduce you to flushmate sisters from the Angus phenotype changer PVF Insight 0129. The daughters sired by “Insight” have left a lasting mark on firms of various breeds across the country. Their mother DW Susanna 763T is one of the great Angus matrons to serve at Werning Cattle Company. Both of these females offer a stamp of quality with added punch we would expect from such a mating. Individually, 4203 has added length of body and density to her feet and legs while 4201 offers such an elite front one-third with added depth to her center body. Pick and choose or buy them both, there is no wrong decision.

What a pair of TA Mighty River 2042 daughters. “Mighty River” is the calving ease and phenotype tandem working for Krebs Ranch in Nebraska and Thompson Angus in North Dakota. Both females come from incredible Angus prototype dams that are maternal, easy fleshing and great uddered. 4119 is a real ground sow in terms of body and dimension. She’s carrying the exciting service of Angus incredible Connealy Commerce. We love the type and kind that this dense made brood cow prospect represents!
LOT 276
4178 has all the added visual growth a guy could ask for and matches it on paper ranking in the
and top 5% for YW. She’s expected to have intriguing calf sired by the 5/8 Simmental stud, W/C Total Package 1040N. Another prime example of the maternal strength and true cow power that you can expect at Werning Cattle Company!
