The Psychology program in the College of Adult and Professional Studies prepares
adult students to work in the helping professions. This practice-oriented degree will
give you a better understanding of human nature and of yourself and others as
individuals and as members of a group.
This degree will give you a strong foundation in interpersonal skills, critical thinking,
knowledge of group and organizational behavior, one-on-one and small group
communication, research, written communication, and solving practical or
theoretical problems. Field experiences with local organizations give you hands-on
work experience in the field and help you begin networking with other
professionals. These experiences help you learn to assess your clients’ needs,
express care and empathy, and act as an advocate for your clients.
