GENERAL

ThisManualhasbeenpreparedtoassistyouinthe correctprocedureforrunning--in,drivingand operatingandforthemaintenanceofyournew tractor.ReadthisManualcarefully.Yourtractoris intendedforuseinnormalandcustomary agriculturalapplications.

Ifatanytimeyourequireadviceconcerningyour tractor,donothesitatetocontactyourNewHolland dealer.Hehasfactorytrainedpersonnel,genuine manufacturers’partsandthenecessaryequipment tocarryoutallyourservicerequirements.

Yourtractorhasbeendesignedandbuilttogive maximumperformance,economyandeaseof operationunderawidevarietyofoperating conditions.Priortodelivery,thetractorwascarefully inspected,bothatthefactoryandbyyourdealerto ensurethatitreachesyouinoptimumcondition.To maintainthisconditionandensuretrouble--free operation,itisimportantthattheroutineservices,as specifiedinSection4ofthisManual,arecarriedout attherecommendedintervals.

CLEANINGTHETRACTOR

Yourtractorisastate-of-the-artmachinewith sophisticatedcontrols.Thisshouldbeborneinmind whencleaningthetractor,particularlyifusingahigh pressurewasher.Eventhougheveryprecautionhas beentakentosafeguardelectricalcomponentsand connections,thepressuregeneratedbysomeof thesemachinesissuchthatcompleteprotection againstwateringresscannotbeguaranteed.

Whenusingahighpressurewasher,donotstandtoo closetothetractorandavoiddirectingthejetat electroniccomponents,electricalconnections, breathers,seals,fillercaps,etc.Neverdirectacold waterjetatahotengineorexhaust.

FIRST50HOURSERVICE

InSection9,atthebackofthisManual,youwillfind the50--hourservicereports.

Afteryouhaveoperatedthetractorfor50hours,take yourtractor,togetherwiththisManual,toyourdealer. Hewillthenperformthefactoryrecommended50-hourserviceandcompletetheservicereportsheets (pages9--5and9--7).Thefirstsheet(page9--5)isthe dealer’scopyandshouldberemovedbythedealer aftertheservicehasbeencarriedout.Thesecond sheet(page9--7)isyourcopyoftheservice performed. Ensurethatyouandthedealersign bothcopies.

SERVICEPARTS

Itshouldbepointedoutthatgenuinepartshavebeen examinedandapprovedbytheCompany.The installationand/oruseof‘non-genuine’products couldhavenegativeeffectsuponthedesign characteristicsofyourtractorandtherebyaffectit’s safety.TheCompanyisnotliableforanydamage causedbytheuseof‘non--genuine’partsand accessories.Onlygenuinereplacementparts shouldbeused.Theuseofnon-genuinepartsmay invalidatelegalapprovalsassociatedwiththis product.

Itisprohibitedtocarryoutanymodificationstothe tractorunlessspecificallyauthorized,inwriting,by theAfterSalesServicedepartmentoftheCompany.

WARRANTY

Yourtractoriswarrantedaccordingtolegalrightsin yourcountryandthecontractualagreementwiththe sellingdealer.Nowarrantyshall,however,applyif thetractorhasnotbeenused,adjustedand maintainedaccordingtotheinstructionsgiveninthe Operator’sManual.

ECOLOGYANDTHEENVIRONMENT

Soil,airandwaterarevitalfactorsofagricultureand lifeingeneral.Wherelegislationdoesnotyetrulethe treatmentofsomeofthesubstanceswhichare requiredbyadvancedtechnology,commonsense shouldgoverntheuseanddisposalofproductsofa chemicalandpetrochemicalnature.

Thefollowingarerecommendationswhichmaybeof assistance:

• Becomeacquaintedwithandensurethatyou understandtherelativelegislationapplicableto yourcountry.

• Wherenolegislationexists,obtaininformation fromsuppliersofoils,filters,batteries,fuels, antifreeze,cleaningagents,etc.,withregardto theireffectonmanandnatureandhowtosafely store,useanddisposeofthesesubstances. Agriculturalconsultantswill,inmanycases,be abletohelpyouaswell.

HELPFULHINTS

1.Avoidfillingtanksusingunsuitablecontainersor inappropriatepressurizedfueldeliverysystems whichmaycauseconsiderablespillage.

2.Ingeneral,avoidskincontactwithallfuels,oils, acids,solvents,etc.Mostofthemcontain substanceswhichcanbeharmfultoyourhealth.

3.Modernoilscontainadditives.Donotburn contaminatedfuelsand/orwasteoilsinordinary heatingsystems.

4.Avoidspillagewhendrainingoffusedengine coolantmixtures,engine,gearboxandhydraulic oils,brakefluids,etc.Donotmixdrainedbrake fluidsorfuelswithlubricants.Storethemsafely untiltheycanbedisposedofinaproperwayto complywithlocallegislationandavailable resources.

5.Moderncoolantmixtures,i.e.antifreezeand otheradditives,shouldbereplacedeverytwo years.Theyshouldnotbeallowedtogetintothe soilbutshouldbecollectedanddisposedof safely.

6.Donotopentheair-conditioningsystemyourself. Itcontainsgaseswhichshouldnotbereleased intotheatmosphere.Yourdealerorair conditioningspecialisthasaspecialextractorfor thispurposeandwillhavetorechargethesystem anyway.

7.Repairanyleaksordefectsintheenginecooling orhydraulicsystemimmediately.

8.Donotincreasethepressureinapressurized circuitasthismayleadtothecomponents exploding.

9.Protecthosesduringweldingaspenetrating weldsplattermayburnaholeorweakenthem, causingthelossofoils,coolant,etc.

Acarefuloperatoristhebestoperator.Mostaccidents canbeavoidedbyobservingcertainprecautions.To helppreventaccidents,readandtakethefollowing precautions before driving,operatingorservicingthe tractor.Equipmentshouldbeoperatedonlybythose whoareresponsibleandinstructedtodoso.

THETRACTOR

1.ReadtheOperator’sManualcarefullybefore usingthetractor.Lackofoperatingknowledge canleadtoaccidents.

2.Onlyallowproperlytrainedandqualifiedpersons tooperatethetractor.

3.Topreventfalls,usethehandrailsandstep plateswhengettingonandoffthetractor.Keep stepsandplatformclearofmudanddebris.

4.Replaceallmissing,illegibleordamagedsafety decals.

5.Keepsafetydecalsfreeofdirtorgrime.

6.Donotpermitanyonebuttheoperatortorideon thetractorunlessapassengerseatisfitted. Thereisnosafeplaceforextrapassengers otherwise.

7.Keepchildrenawayfromthetractorandfarm machineryatalltimes.

8.Donotmodifyoralterorpermitanyoneelseto modifyoralterthetractororanyofits componentsoranytractorfunctionwithoutfirst consultingyourdealer.

9.Installallguardsbeforestartingtheengineor operatingthetractor.

DRIVINGTHETRACTOR

1.Alwayssitinthedriver’sseatwhilestartingor drivingthetractor.

2.Whendrivingonpublicroads,have considerationforotherroadusers.Pullintothe sideoftheroadoccasionallytoallowany followingtraffictopass.Donotexceedthelegal speedlimitsetinyourcountryforagricultural tractors.

3.Usearotatingbeaconwhendrivingonpublic roadstoindicatethatthevehicleisslowmoving andisapossiblehazard.

4.Dipthetractorlightswhenmeetingavehicleat night.Makesurethelightsareadjustedto preventblindingthedriverofanoncoming vehicle.

5.Reducespeedbeforeturningorapplyingthe brakes.Brakebothwheelssimultaneouslywhen makinganemergencystop.Ensurethatboth brakepedalsarelockedtogetherwhentravelling atroadspeedsorwhenonpublicroadstoensure correctoperationoftrailerbrakes,balanced operationofthetractorbrakesandfourwheel braking(4WDtractorsonly).

8.Keepthetractorinthesamegearwhengoing downhillaswouldbeusedwhengoinguphill.Do notcoastorfreewheeldownhills.

9.Forsafeoperationanytowedvehiclewhosetotal weightexceedsthatofthetowingtractormustbe equippedwithabrakingsystemthatcomplies withthelegalrequirementsofthatcountry.

10.Neverapplythedifferentiallockwhenturning. Whenengaged,thedifferentiallockwillprevent thetractorfromturning.

11.Alwayscheckoverheadclearance,especially whentransportingthetractor.Watchwhereyou aregoing,especiallyatrowends,onroadsand aroundtreesandlowoverhangingobstacles.

12.Toavoidoverturns,drivethetractorwithcare andatspeedscompatiblewithsafety,especially whenoperatingoverroughground,when crossingditchesorslopesandwhenturning corners.

6.Onfourwheeldrivetractors,thedrivetothefront axleisautomaticallyengaged,toprovidefour wheelbraking,whenbothfootbrakesare applied.Ownersshouldbeawareofthe effectivenessoffourwheelbrakingwhichgreatly enhancesbrakingperformance.Appropriate careshouldbeexercisedduringfiercebraking.

7.Useextremecautionandavoidhardapplication ofthetractorbrakeswhentowingheavyloadsat roadspeeds.

13.Useextremecautionwhenoperatingonsteep slopes.

14.Ifthetractorbecomesstuckorthetiresare frozentotheground,reversethetractoroutto preventoverturning.

OPERATINGTHETRACTOR

1.Applytheparkingbrake,placetheP.T.O.control inthe‘OFF’position,theliftcontrolleverinthe downposition,theremotecontrolvalveleversin theneutralpositionandthetransmissionlevers inneutralbeforestartingthetractor.

2.Donotstarttheengineoroperatecontrols(other thanexternallylocatedhydraulicliftorP.T.O. switches,iffitted)whilestandingbesidethe tractor.Alwayssitinthetractorseatwhen startingtheengineoroperatingthecontrols.

3.DonotbypassthetransmissionandP.T.O. neutralstartswitches.Consultyourauthorized dealerifyourneutralstartcontrolsmalfunction. Usejumpleadsonlyintherecommended manner.Improperusecanresultinatractor runaway.

8.Donotparkthetractoronasteepincline.

9.Thecabisdesignedtoprovidetheminimum noiselevelattheoperator’searsandmeetsor exceedsapplicablestandardsinthisrespect. However,noise(soundpressurelevel)inthe workplacecanexceed85dB(A)whenworking betweenbuildingsorinconfinedspaces,with cabwindowsopen.Therefore,itis recommendedthatoperatorswearsuitableear protectorswhenoperatinginhighnoiselevel conditions.

4.Avoidaccidentalcontactwiththegearshift leverswhiletheengineisrunning.Unexpected tractormovementcanresultfromsuchcontact.

5.Donotgetoffthetractorwhileitisinmotion.

6.Ifthepowersteeringorengineceasesoperating, stopthetractorimmediatelyasthetractorwillbe moredifficulttocontrol.

7.Beforeleavingthetractor,parkthetractoron levelground,applytheparkingbrake,lower attachedimplementstotheground,disengage theP.T.O.andstoptheengine.

10.Donotrunthetractorengineinanenclosed buildingwithoutadequateventilation.Exhaust fumesaretoxicandcancausedeath.

11.Pullonlyfromthepick-uphitch,swinging drawbarorthelowerlinkdrawbarinthelowered position.Useonlyadrawbarpinthatlocksin place.Pullingfromthetractorrearaxleorany pointabovetheaxlemaycausethetractorto overturn.

12.AlwaysselectPositionControlwhenattaching equipmentandwhentransportingequipment. Besurehydrauliccouplersareproperlymounted andwilldisconnectsafelyincaseofaccidental detachmentoftheimplement.

OPERATINGTHEP.T.O

1.WhenoperatingPTO-drivenequipment,shutoff theengine,switchoffthePTOandwaituntilthe PTOstopsbeforegettingoffthetractorand disconnectingtheequipment.

13.Ifthefrontendofthetractortendstorisewhen heavyimplementsareattachedtothe three--pointhitch,installfrontendorfrontwheel weights.Donotoperatethetractorwithalight frontend.

14.Engagetheclutchslowlywhendrivingoutofa ditch,gullyorupasteephillside.Disengagethe clutchpromptlyifthefrontwheelsriseoffthe ground.

15.Ensureanyattachedequipmentoraccessories arecorrectlyinstalled,areapprovedforusewith thetractor,donotoverloadthetractorandare operatedandmaintainedinaccordancewiththe instructionsissuedbytheequipmentor accessorymanufacturer.

16.Rememberthatyourtractor,ifabusedor incorrectlyused,canbedangerousandbecome ahazardbothtotheoperatorandtobystanders. Donotoverloadoroperatewithattached equipmentwhichisunsafe,notdesignedforthe particulartaskorispoorlymaintained.

17.Donotleaveequipmentintheraisedposition whenthevehicleisstoppedorunattended.

18.Donotdriveequipmentnearopenfires.

19.Alwayswearaprotectivemaskwhenworking withtoxicspraychemicals.Followthedirections onthechemicalcontainer.

2.Donotwearlooseclothingwhenoperatingthe powertake-offorespeciallywhennearrotating equipment.

3.WhenoperatingstationaryPTO-driven equipment,alwaysapplythetractorparking brakeandblocktherearwheelsfrontandback.

4.Toavoidinjury,donotclean,adjust,unclogor servicePTOdrivenequipmentwhenthetractor engineisrunning.EnsurethatthePTOis switchedoff.

5.MakesurethePTOguardisinpositionatall timesandalwaysreplacethePTOcapwhenthe PTOisnotinuse.

SERVICINGTHETRACTOR

Unqualifiedpersonsshouldnotremoveor attempttoadjustapump,injector,nozzleorany otherpartofthefuelinjectionorhydraulic systems.Failuretofollowtheseinstructionscan resultinseriousinjury.

• Do not useyourhandtocheckforleaks.Usea pieceofcardboardorpapertosearchforleaks.

• Stoptheengineandrelievepressurebefore connectingordisconnectinglines.

1.Thecoolingsystemoperatesunderpressure whichiscontrolledbytheexpansiontankcap.It isdangeroustoremovethecapwhilethesystem ishot.Alwaysturnthecapslowlytothefirststop andallowthepressuretoescapebefore removingthecapentirely.Neverremovethecap fromthetopoftheradiatorunlesstheexpansion tankpressurecaphasfirstbeenremoved.

2.Donotsmokewhilerefuellingthetractor.Keep anytypeofopenflameaway.

3.Keepthetractorandequipment,particularly brakesandsteering,maintainedinareliableand satisfactoryconditiontoensureyoursafetyand complywithlegalrequirements.

4.Topreventfireorexplosion,keepopenflames awayfrombatteryorcoldweatherstartingaids. Topreventsparkswhichcouldcauseexplosion, usejumpercablesaccordingtoinstructions.

5.Donotattempttoservicetheairconditioning system.Itispossibletobeseverelyfrostbitten orinjuredbyescapingrefrigerant.Special equipmentandinstrumentsarerequiredto servicetheairconditioningsystem.Seeyour authorizeddealerforservice.

6.Stoptheenginebeforeperforminganyservice onthetractor.

7.Hydraulicfluidandfueloilintheinjectionsystem operateunderhighpressure.Escaping hydraulicfluidorfueloilunderpressurecan penetratetheskincausingseriousinjury.

• Tightenallconnectionsbeforestartingthe engineorpressurizinglines.

• Iffluidisinjectedintotheskinobtainmedical attentionimmediatelyorgangrenemayresult.

8.Donotmodifyoralterorpermitanyoneelseto modifyoralterthetractororanyofits componentsoranytractorfunctionwithoutfirst consultinganauthorizeddealer.

9.Continuouslongtermcontactwithusedengine oilmaycauseskincancer.Avoidprolonged contactwithusedengineoil.Washskinpromptly withsoapandwater.

10.Keepequipmentcleanandproperlymaintained.

11.Disposeofalldrainedfluidsandremovedfilters properly.

12.Tractorwheelsareveryheavy.Handlewithcare andensure,whenstored,thattheycannot toppleandcauseinjury.

DIESELFUEL

1.Undernocircumstancesshouldgasoline, alcoholorblendedfuelsbeaddedtodieselfuel. Thesecombinationscancreateanincreasedfire orexplosivehazard.Inaclosedcontainersuch asafueltanktheseblendsaremoreexplosive thanpuregasoline.Donotusetheseblends.

2.Neverremovethefuelcaporrefuelwiththe enginerunningorhot.

7.Alwaystightenthefueltankcapsecurely.

8.Iftheoriginalfueltankcapislost,replaceitwith anapprovedcap.Anon--approvedcapmaynot besafe.

9.Neverusefuelforcleaningpurposes.

10.Arrangefuelpurchasessothatsummergrade fuelsarenotheldoverandusedinthewinter.

SAFETYCAB

Yourtractorisequippedwithasafetycabwhichmust bemaintainedinaserviceablecondition.Becareful whendrivingthroughdoorwaysorworkingin confinedspaceswithlowheadroom.

1.Donotmodify,drill,weldoralterthesafetycab inanyway.Doingsocouldrenderyouliableto legalprosecutioninsomecountries.

3.Donotsmokewhilerefuellingthetractororwhen standingnearfuel.Keepanytypeofopenflame away.

4.Maintaincontrolofthefuelfillerpipenozzlewhen fillingthetank.

5.Donotfillthefueltanktocapacity.Fillonlytothe bottomofthefillernecktoallowroomfor expansion.

6.Wipeupspilledfuelimmediately.

2.Neverattempttostraightenorweldanypartof themainframeorretainingbracketswhichhave suffereddamage.Bydoingsoyoumayweaken thestructureandendangeryoursafety.

3.Donotsecureanypartsonthemainframeor attachyoursafetycabwithotherthanthespecial hightensileboltsandnutsspecified.

4.Neverattachchainsorropestothecabormain frameforpullingpurposes.

5.Nevertakeunnecessaryriskseventhoughyour safetycabaffordsyouthemaximumprotection possible.
