Care
In the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS), we recognize that healthcare is much more than simply treating disease. And, as such, we teach students to think bigger.
Through hands-on learning in the classroom, collaborative research with faculty, and clinical experiences with some of the nation’s largest healthcare organizations, we equip students with the knowledge—and skills—to improve health outcomes.
Whether you graduate as a pharmacist, nurse, PA, pharmaceutical scientist, healthcare executive, respiratory therapist, or something else, you’ll be prepared to improve the quality of life of the patients and community you serve.

PROGRAMS:
NURSING AND HEALTH SCIENCES–PRE-RESPIRATORY THERAPY
Butler’s Nursing program combines academic knowledge with hands-on clinical experience starting your first year. You’ll train in state-of-the-art simulation labs, complete a 1:1 preceptorship, and choose from elective hands-on work in cardiology, medical surgical, or perioperative studies. With direct admission, you’re automatically enrolled in the program from day one—no additional applications required.
If you’re interested in studying respiratory therapy, the Health Sciences–Pre-Respiratory Therapy program offers a strong foundation in science, hands-on clinical experience, and a human-centered approach to care. With demand for respiratory therapists on the rise, you’ll be well-prepared for success in clinical practice, leadership, and advanced study.

“COPHS combines personal attention with experiential learning, providing an environment where risks can be taken in a safe space. COPHS also takes a committed approach to its curriculum. I have a newfound appreciation for what a quality, patient-centered healthcare system entails, thanks to courses such as Intro to Healthcare, Healthcare Systems and Policy, and Healthcare Quality. ”
