In a Competitive Market, Is It Leading the Trend? Or Chasing the Trend?

"Make fine products to meet market demand."

This sentence has often been talked about by enterprises during our recent visits. However, there are different voices on how to meet the market. Some companies believe that they need to keep up with the market development trend and meet the requirements in time when customers make requirements, which can not only avoid the risk of blind attacks, but also reduce the cost of developing the market; some companies It is believed that we should tap the demand, not stay on the basis of the "needs" of customers, and make judgments before the downstream market.

Of course, different choices have a lot to do with the strength and positioning of the enterprise itself. Let's first look at the risks that the two options may face.

If you keep up with the trend, the most likely risk is the high inventory. Because there is more than one company that sees the trend, but the market capacity is limited, when everyone focuses on "demand", there will soon be overcapacity. This phenomenon is already quite serious in our industry.

If you lead the trend, the premise is to do a series of market research, including the current market demand situation, policy guidance, customer's downstream market and usage habits and so on. Once the conclusion is reached, it still needs to be implemented, then the issue of research and development will be involved, and the result will naturally be success and failure.

If it fails, will it continue to invest or give up? Assuming it is developed, how do you need to bring new products to market and make them acceptable to customers?

This process will consume a lot of manpower, material and financial resources. If the strength of the enterprise is not strong enough, it will certainly be difficult to afford it. Therefore, leading is not a slogan, but requires real "strength".

From a long-term development point of view, leading the trend is naturally better than following the trend, but the premise is, how do enterprises go from following to leading?

Have you studied how subtle changes in the production process will affect the final product and downstream users?

Do you often think about whether products can be replaced?

Have you ever thought that it is still not enough to meet customer needs with existing products?

From the perspective of the application field of abrasive products, there are more and more market segments, and their functional requirements for abrasive products are becoming more and more strict. Only by communicating with the downstream market can we truly understand their needs, and only by communicating more can we discover new needs.

For enterprises, it is very important to grasp the pace of development. Of course, leading or chasing depends on the development of the enterprise. However, we must take a long-term view and lay out in advance so as not to fear latecomers.
