‘Pink Stumps Day’ is back!

OUR favourite day of all things pink is back, with the fun annual McGrath Foundation fundraiser set to return to Kin Kin on Sunday June 5.

Gather up your best pink tutu and get practicing your batting and bowling in preparation. This is serious business and the Kin Kin Community is super excited to show off their superb cricket skills when they take on Noosa Mayor Clare Stewart and the Noosa Councillors and Council staff.

Sadly, many of us know of someone whose mother, daughter, sister, or partner has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The McGrath Foundation’s aim is to provide specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses to support individuals (and their families) experiencing breast cancer by providing physical, psychological, and emotional support.

From the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment, this service is available for free, so come along and enjoy the magic of Pink Stumps Day and help us raise the much-needed funds to continue these services.

All proceeds from this event go towards helping the McGrath Foundation place these Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia.

There are also lots of great raffle prizes to be won, thanks to the generosity of our local business community. Last year we raised over $4000!

Help us reach the big $5k this year!

If you cannot make it along on the day, but would like to donate, please visit www. pinkstumpsday.com.au/fundraisers/kinkin Batting opens at Sunday June 5, 1pm at the Kin Kin Sportsground, 57 Main St, Kin Kin (after the Markets).

LOCAL GYMNASTS FLY HIGH at Australian Gymnastics Championships

Finlay Jones

THE Cooroy Gymnastics Club prepared four gymnasts to compete at the 2022 Australian Gymnastics Championships on the Gold Coast. This was a record number of athletes for the club in a team comprised of Felix McWilliam, Dean Chandler, Lyam Chandler and Finlay Jones - but unfortunately not everything went to plan.

Before the start of competition four had become two, with a skateboard accident accounting for Felix and a mistimed vault in the final minutes of warm-up meaning that Dean missed both days of the competition.

The remaining two competitors in the level ten division would compete over two days. Day one was the all around and team competition, also being the qualification for the apparatus finals. The first day saw a very strong competition with Finlay finishing a great 4th place missing the podium by just 0.3. He contributed to the team score on five of the six apparatus to help Queensland to second place and a silver medal.

The second day of apparatus saw many great routines from the Queensland team. Both Lyam and Finlay performed well on their apparatus. Unfortunately both Cooroy boys had falls on an apparatus but they bounced back well. Finlay was leading rings and was on the podium for

floor until the last competitor on both apparatus. He finally finished with a well deserved silver on both Rings and Parallel Bars.

Finlay was also awarded the 2021 Australian Levels Gymnast of the year whist at the event for his performances at last years national event.
